@CharlieB93 oooh I dunno cos whilst I've been googling it said that the heartbeat location isn't always a give away because the sound carries through the fluid 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe she will start feeling it though, cos surely she's gotta see if babies head (or butt 🤣) has engaged in your pelvis or not? Maybe ask next time you see her? But yeah my toddlers given him a slap and a head butt 🤣 poor babies

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 09:50

@november90 exactly! And I dunno about you but if I was on all fours all day my other child would just see it as an opportunity to climb all over me 🤣🤣 (not that it's much of a difference from my daily life)

CharlieB93 · 01/05/2020 09:51

@Clairesoph I’ll have to ask next time I see her! Aghhh it’s a none stop worry isn’t it 😂 I get over worrying about one thing then start with something else!
Haha ! Poor thing, at least you know baby is quite robust 😂

Bumpingalong84 · 01/05/2020 11:04

@Clairesoph hopefully the ECV will work for you! How many weeks did you say you will be? My friend had it done and it also worked for her but her waters broke the next day. Mine have stayed in tact so far. Tho bum down is a better breech position I think if you end up going into labour, my pickle was feet down.

I could feel her head bobbing at the top, like you say bum feels different.

It’s mad to think I’m actually excited by labour as with my first is was all such a shock with my waters going and being in hospital within the hour and having a baby 12hrs later.

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 11:08

@Bumpingalong84 I'll be 37+4 so hopefully it works. I just worry that because his head is level with my belly button his bum must be pretty low down in my pelvis and not sure how they will hook him out, but that's why they're the pros I guess! If it doesn't work I will go for elective section, and hope he turns himself in the mean time!

Yeah, it's a bit strange haha when I see that picture and I'm like wow there is actually a whole real life baby in there!!!!!

Bumpingalong84 · 01/05/2020 11:19

Is this your first @Clairesoph? I was 36+5 when they turned her and she’s was estimated at 7lb1 already at 36+1 so big girlie.
That was the trickiest part, teasing her feet out of my pelvis as she was truly wedged in, that bit was the most uncomfortable, but the monitor baby the whole time and if bubbs isn’t budging they will stop or if you find it too painful they will stop. I wouldn’t personally go for a breech birth, just sounds too risky so if she hadn’t moved if would have been a c section regardless of her position.

You’ll have to let me know how you get on. Really hope it works for you too but guess at least you’ll know the clear plan if it doesn’t and there is something nice about that too with everything going on.

Happy Baby months girls!

Congratulations @MonaLisaDoesntSmile!

I see our babies are making us work fir it but not being in the right positions. I'm slightly OP at the minute so lots of work on the ball to get it turned.

Does everyone know what they're having? I don't know for sure but I'm going on old wives tales and fetal HR, thinking a boy!

How accurate did all of your fetal HRs turn out to be? Ie over 140 girl under 140 boy

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 12:27

@Bumpingalong84 it's my second, first one was fairly straight forward bar having a big head that needed pulling out by forceps 🥴

Oh okay that's good to know then! Oh it all just sounds so awkward and painful but love a success story cos google is all doom and gloom 😩 I'm with you on the breech birth, not for me I'm afraid. Too much of a worry wart! If I had gone into labour and not found out he was breech then I would go with the flow but I'm a huge believer of jinxing myself and I think opting for a breech birth when I know all the ins and outs would be silly of me and if something did go wrong I would only blame myself! C section would also mean a baby a week early which is a dream come true when my first kept me waiting a week over! We will see, but of course I will keep you all posted on Wednesday xxx

Moongirl10 · 01/05/2020 12:35

Can’t believe it’s finally May 2020! Feel like I’ve been pregnant forever Grin

Bumpingalong84 · 01/05/2020 13:01

Ahh @Clairesoph my first was not coming out and I needed an episiotomy and she has a massive head! So the thought of delivering a head last is just horrific 🙈 so yes c section all the way.

They said to me as I’d given birth naturally before the uterus is bigger and I had a good chance of them turning her so that’s why I gave it a bash.

They monitor baby before for a bit before they do it, and do a quick scan just to confirm where head, legs and bum is. Then after the injection to relax the uterus, then I was on all fours on my elbows to try and get her out my pelvis a bit (15min o FB this whole injection kicks in) then they moved her. Took about 10 min, with a bit of a breather in the middle 🙊 they then scan and monitor the baby after to make sure they are happy. I was there 3hrs total!! I was allowed hubby in.

Raindancer411 · 01/05/2020 14:12

Question for you all. Has anyone or do you know anyone that are buying their own soft ties to close off the umbilical cord? Was asked if we knew why people were taking their own ties in to hospital rather than the hospital plastic clip being used. I never heard of it.

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 14:26

@Bumpingalong84 that's amazing!!! I really hope he budges for me! I've been told my partner can't join me sadly cos of covid so gonna make sure my phones well charged haha!

@Raindancer411 I have a cord tie! I'm taking it in with me but I think it varies from midwife to midwife whether they have/will use them. I personally think they look really nice and are a lot more gentle against babies skin. I had a matching hat and blanket made too but I'm on of those weirdos whose using cloth nappies also so 🤷🏻‍♀️ each to their own haha! Some people will argue that they're not sterile but there's no evidence to support this. They are no less of a problem against the cord as a nappy or baby clothes and often the cord heals and drops off a lot quicker than with a plastic clip

Bumpingalong84 · 01/05/2020 14:45

Aww sorry to hear that @Clairesoph I’m in Greater London. It must differ from trust to trust. I hope he flips for you 🤞🏻

I haven't even heard of those cord ties! Will have to google. They look great. The plastic things are so horrible.

november90 · 01/05/2020 17:11

@Clairesoph that blanket and hat is absolutely beautiful! I wish I had one like that, I love the home made looking things :)
I can't believe your partner isn't allowed on! Is he not allowed in at all? Our trust seem to still be quite relaxed in the sense that birthday partner can be present as soon as we're on the labour ward and stay for the duration but no over night ends and not allowed to leave....

facevalue · 01/05/2020 17:41

@Clairesoph cloth nappies are a fabulous environmentally respectful choice and hands work- not a weirdo i would say a dedicated person x wish i had the stamina for it.

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 18:17

@november90 As far as I know it's just appointments, so any scans, midwife appts. Any additional monitoring etc is all done alone without partners. He can be present from established labour, which includes induction so poor blokes gotta hang on in the car park until he can come up. Then when he's in he can't leave. Gets 2 hours with us post birth and he'll be asked to leave 🤷🏻‍♀️ I THINK (I really bloody hope) he is still okay to be present for the c section but we both have to have corona test prior to the op 🥴

@facevalue thank you 🥰 I wish I was more dedicated, we don't cloth full time with the toddler but as much as possible. Just trying to do my bit where I can! 🤣

123Pandy · 01/05/2020 21:15

@MonaLisaDoesntSmile congrats!! Glad to hear you are both doing well.

So I just had a bit of a surprise. Noticed baby was moving less so went to triage and they hooked me up and checked all was ok. It was, he's moving ..but he's breech! Who knew! 🙈

So now it's between ECV or elective C. Anyone had experience of ECV?

123Pandy · 01/05/2020 21:21

@Bumpingalong84 - just saw you had a successful ECV?
I'm tempted to try it

123Pandy · 01/05/2020 21:24

And @Clairesoph - soz, only Just catching up On the thread now

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 21:43

@123Pandy how many weeks are you? Basically same scenario as me in the last few days, haha! I'm giving the ECV a go on Wednesday but if no luck c section it is! I'll be 37+4 when they try to turn him! These naughty babies!!

123Pandy · 01/05/2020 21:56

@Clairesoph I know - so naughty! So if I decide to go ahead (appointment is on Monday) I'll be 37+5.
It's pretty much the same as you..only went in for something else and by chance just asked them to check if he was head down!

I'll let you know how it goes on Monday.

Clairesoph · 01/05/2020 22:06

@123Pandy oh yes please, let me know! Sending lots of turn-y thoughts and luck!!!

Emmacb82 · 02/05/2020 03:15

I didn’t quite make it to May! Little man was born on 30th April, 4 hour labour, super quick and very very intense, two pushes and he was out! Weighed 6lb 15. Stuck in hospital as needs phototherapy and antibiotics. Finding it very stressful being separated from my 4 year old who hasn’t even met his brother yet, and missing the support of my husband. Have done a lot of crying and no sleeping the last 48 hours. Hopefully home Sunday if all well, really don’t want to stay any longer than that.

AlmostAlwyn · 02/05/2020 03:29

@Emmacb82 congratulations! I also didn't make it May and had a 4-hour labour too! Grin well done you!

It must be really tough in hospital on your own. It's not an environment designed for relaxation is it! I'm sure Sunday will come round really soon though and you'll be home before you know it. Flowers

sao81 · 02/05/2020 03:57

@Emmacb82 congratulations! I hope you are both home soon 💕
