Congratulations @Emmacb82! Hope you and bany go home soon ❤️

@123Pandy did the baby just turn breech then? As in, in you last midwife appointment were they head down, or they didn't check? And did they confirm with a scan this time or just touch?

GinUnicorn · 02/05/2020 08:35

@Emmacb82 congratulations! Hopefully you’ll be home before you know it.

123Pandy · 02/05/2020 08:48

@woollycat he just turned! So last midwife appointment he was diagonal but 'head down'. All previous appointments he's been head down so I think he just fancied a change maybe? 🤷🏽‍♀️ was definitely breech when they scanned me last night.
I might spark to the consultant and see what they say - apparently they scan you before the elective section so if he's back to head down then I might be able to go ahead with a normal delivery

november90 · 02/05/2020 08:55

@Emmacb82 congratulations! So pleased for you and you're little family ❤️ how are you both doing? How did things get started?

woollycat · 02/05/2020 09:09

@123Pandy hehe that is very cheeky! Good luck with the ECV if you opt in for it. My 38w appointment with the birth centre midwife is next Thursday - let's see if my baby has stay put in head down position! A lot of people here seem to be able to tell from kicks and things - I have no clue 😀

123Pandy · 02/05/2020 09:13

@Emmacb82! Congrats on your new arrival 🥰🥰

@woollycat - good luck! hopefully baby behaves himself ☺️ I had a sneaky suspicion because his kicks were very low down..kicking my bladder actually

facevalue · 02/05/2020 09:55

it's a beautiful day today!

looking forward to hearing more healthy baby arrivals.

@Emmacb82 congratulations x i can only try to imagine how you feel - i know that the hormones are going crazy by now so that won't help x don't be too worried about calling a midwife for a chat and cuddle when you need to. you will be home soon enough x

@123Pandy hi, yes I had a successful ECV last Monday. Wasn’t keen on the idea of it to start with but so pleased I went ahead. It’s only 50/50 that it’ll work but luck was on my side. I have a 4yr old and really didn’t fancy the thought of a c section unless I really had to have one. I’m really hoping for a nice calm water birth this time as my daughter was nearly 4 wks early so I didn’t get the chance first time round.

ECV was ok, painful but for such a short period of time. The care was fantastic.

Good luck whatever you decide to do. Don’t let anyone pressure you into anything. As tempting as a planned section was for childcare and being a week earlier than due date, for me and my family having the chance of another natural birth 🤞🏻 And quick recovery was something I wanted to give a shot.

Does anyone have any company recommendations for bamboo/cotton muslin swaddles/blankets?

My first baby was a winter baby. But with the weather warming what are you planning on wrapping/putting baby in to sleep??

woollycat · 02/05/2020 16:10

@Bumpingalong84 I was thinking sleeping bags (with 0.5 tog rating for the summer) once she is big enough to fit in one, and before that use a light blanket and tuck it under the mattress.

Lu1u · 02/05/2020 16:39

@bumpingalong84 I also had a winter baby so I'm not quite sure either! I have some velcro swaddle me's which are thin, and a 0.5 tog gro bag for when he is big enough if it's really hot in summer. Then I have cellular blankets and I bought one bamboo muslin swaddle blanket which is 4 layers of muslin and sooooo soft, weirdly from Amazon for less than £10 and it's really nice! And massive, for the price I am amazed actually and wish I had found them for my first. At the moment I think I would do sleepsuit with or without a vest under neath and then a thin swaddle over the top and then decide on whether they need a light blanket tucked in over depending on how cool the room is. No idea if that's over kill or not!

november90 · 02/05/2020 18:19

@Bumpingalong84 I had a summer sleep bag and a 2.5 tog. It's not massively warm here at night time so I'll probably start with the 2.5 and go from there :) My HV advised against swaddling because it has been linked to SID due to babies over heating.... so it put me off but it is a personal preference I suppose!

@Moonstone12 awwwww hello little Josephine! What a beautiful little girl ❤️ massive congratulations to you! How did it all go? How are you feeling? Sending lots of love to you and your family!

My goodness how quick are all these labours! My first was 3 days! Hoping mine will be smooth sailing and quick too 😀❤️

woollycat · 03/05/2020 06:48

@Moonstone12 huge congratulations! ❤️ how many weeks were you?

Moonstone12 · 03/05/2020 07:46

Thank you so much :) We are so in love 💗

I was 39+5 when she was born :) was actually due for induction this morning! I'll post my birth story below. I'm so happy it was a quick labour this time as my 3rd bubba took 3 days!

Born at 1:06am after a very quick (for me) 3 1/2hr labour with only 15 mins of pushing.

Waters went at 8.30 (less than 5 mins after we ordered a curry for my partners birthday that we then had to cancel😂)

No immediate contractions but was asked to come into be assessed.

Made way into hospital and by the time we arrived at 9.30 contractions were every 4 mins. Got taken straight to the midwifery led unit where I had no pain relief apart from my tens (which I forgot to turn up very high 😂) I was mobile through labour and gave birth up on my knees. The pool was run but I decided not to use it.

My body just took over and did everything for me. I had a small 2nd degree tear so was stitched up.

I’m sore. I’m tired. But we are home. And Josephine shares her birthday with her big sister, 16 yr old Ellie!

Was in and out in under 12hrs (would have been quicker but I had to wait for the doctor to give me some injections)

Should add she was 8lb 7oz x

Ps. We still haven't had the damn curry 😂

sao81 · 03/05/2020 07:50
