@CharlieB93 If you really want to go in and be checked, pull the I haven't felt baby move much card. I had to with my first as they said usually they don't take you in for 24hrs with firsts. Glad I did as when I went in, I was already 5cm and they had to keep me in then. Trust your instincts x

CharlieB93 · 20/05/2020 08:36

@Naughtysausage @Raindancer411 thank you both, I might try and ring them again ☹️ Can’t take much more, I’ve been crying all morning

Raindancer411 · 20/05/2020 08:46

@CharlieB93 If it's that bad, I would say you need to go in to get checked. Let us know what they say and good luck xx

helpasisterout · 20/05/2020 10:14

@Naughtysausage I think that's why I was in the huff I've handled it well til now but just feeling a bit peeved that due to covid it isn't going to be the summer we planned with new baby.. first world problems and all that I am aware but got to have a whinge sometimes!

Naughtysausage · 20/05/2020 10:34

@CharlieB93 good luck! Remember they aren't doing you a favour, ask for what you need.

And @helpasisterout if you can't whinge here about being fed up, where can you?

woollycat · 20/05/2020 11:11

@helpasisterout I think it's completely normal to have feeling like that! The advice I have found helpful is to try and focus on the positives so that the negative thoughts don't find a permanent home in the brain. Hope you feel better soon.

@CharlieB93 hope it's going well for you now - the latent phase can't last forever!

I am now 39+6, can't believe due date is tomorrow! Have a routine midwife appointment tomorrow - will they offer an internal examination, anyone know?

Raindancer411 · 20/05/2020 11:26

@woollycat I had my check Tuesday at 40 weeks but she didn't do anything as I was not classes as over due. She has booked me in for a sweep next Tuesday though

november90 · 20/05/2020 12:55

@helpasisterout it is 100% normal to feel like you do! I felt exactly the same first time round, and even now, 100% in love with my new little boy, the unknown new routine and lifestyle frighten me a little bit!
Your life will change as much as you let it. I remember everyone used to say oh you won't do this, you won't do that, you won't have time for your make up, your hair bla bla bla, my mum said you'll make time for whatever is important to you, even if it just means getting up a little earlier! So yes your life will change, but it doesn't mean your old life stops either!

I was ab absolute nightmare when I went over this time! I was SO moody and irritable!

Don't be hard on yourself lovely ❤️ you're doing so well xx

helpasisterout · 20/05/2020 15:17

@november90 thank you for that advise! It's good to know you know the feeling I mean. Have pulled myself out the hole and feel a lot more cheery just now and have started a new book so chilling out reading that which is definitely helping! Hope everyone is getting some nice weather to enjoy x

Raindancer411 · 20/05/2020 16:14

@CharlieB93 Wondering how it's going for you xx

Bumpingalong84 · 20/05/2020 16:59

Hi ladies. So amazingly my little girl decided to make her arrival today on her due date ( same date as our mmc last year) I wondered if she’d hold out to replace that horrible memory.

I woke at 2am with some cramping, then noticed them fading and coming back! So started timing and realised they were every 10min and getting stronger. Woke DH about 2.30ish they went to 6min apart and I called the hospital At 3ish as I could talk in sentences during contraction she said her in the bath and see if it helps . They got closer and I was sick from the pain and by 4.30 they were every 4-6min and intense. Got to the hospital at 4.50 as it’s close by and when she examined me just after 5 as I said I had the urge to push I was shocked (and so was she) to find I was fully dilated 🙈

Got in the birthing pool at 5.30 and she was born at 6.03 🙈 mad mad night

Just to say my waters didn’t go till her head came out. Never lost my mucous plug till last night at 3! And no signs pre bed. So really can happen at any time. And so different from my first. She weighs 8lb2.

helpasisterout · 20/05/2020 17:09

@Bumpingalong84 I'm soooo happy for you what an amazing sign for you making new happy memories on that date! Take care and can't wait to hear more about your babe when your all settled home x

CharlieB93 · 20/05/2020 17:23

@Bumpingalong84 amazing congratulations 💕 I’m so glad she came on the date, almost fate isn’t it

@Raindancer411 still the same, I’m in a right mess to be honest. Rang hospital twice they won’t see me ☹️

Raindancer411 · 20/05/2020 17:57

@charlieB93 Have you said you haven't felt baby move? They should see you then!!

MarshmallowsOnToast · 20/05/2020 18:34

@BumpingAlong84

Congratulations that's amazing! Our babies have the same date of birth. 😆

Hope everyone else doing ok. I’m knackered as I've not slept since 6.30am yesterday morning so 36 hours.

Short story - Our baby boy was born this morning at 7.05am weighing 9lb 7oz. Following induction and a short 2.5hr ish active labour with gas & air.

Long story - As you may know I was induced with a Propess pessary yesterday at 12pm. The idea is to let it ripen the cervix for 24hrs then have waters broken manually to begin labour. My OH was allowed into the labour suite whilst it was being inserted, then he had to leave me to go to the ward alone at 1pm.

Pretty chilled day on ward reading magazines & eating my snacks. The ward was pretty noisy so not very relaxing.

Had regular observations every 4 hours. Last one was Midnight then at 12.10am I felt my waters trickle. Pain ramped up very quickly from there. Managed on just paracetamol & one lot of codeine until contractions were getting unbearable and got down to around 30seconds apart. Felt an urge like needing to poo also ☺️ asked for something stronger but was already 8cm dilated so whipped off to labour suite at 5.15am.

Asked about epidural but too late for that too so only option was gas & air and get pushing straight away. OH got there after I’d started pushing but didn’t miss anything thankfully.

Baby was born at 7.05am weighing 9lb 7oz with help of ventouse & episiotomy as his shoulder got stuck. OH says I was a trooper but I feel like I was a complete wimp. I cried a few times at the pain during the induction & during labour declared that was it and I couldn’t do it anymore ☺️

Back on the ward overnight again tonight due to my intervention, stitches & to check out babies shoulder due to it getting stuck. Ideally wanted to go home as I feel fine & baby healthy but at least I will have some help with breastfeeding.

We both love him so much already and OH can't wait to have us both home.

Good luck to those still waiting!

woollycat · 20/05/2020 19:01

Awww congratulations @Bumpingalong84 and @MarshmallowsOnToast !!!

Sounds like you both did really well, well done!

@Bumpingalong84 that was a really fast labour! And without any advance signs!

woollycat · 20/05/2020 19:03

Moongirl10 · 20/05/2020 19:27

Congratulations @Bumpingalong84 and @MarshmallowsOnToast! So pleased for you both!

I had cramps throughout the night that disappeared when I got up, but I’m feeling so much pressure today down there. Only 1 more week till my due date.

Lady7978 · 20/05/2020 20:05

Congratulations @MarshmallowsOnToast and @Bumpingalong84 !!!
Glad you're both and your babies are doing well.

@CharlieB93, I hope things get better and moving sharpish. How are you feeling now? Why won't they at least come in for a check?

I'm 38+5 and still have a week plus to go... Over the last couple of days I've felt itchy but over the last day or two especially in the evening and all night, I've been scratching all over. Rang my midwife earlier today who asked I go in for bloods at triage as it could have to do with the liver. I've been and back home, but this evening again, I've been scratching. Has anyone got experience with this? It's horrendous!

Emmacb82 · 20/05/2020 20:19

Congratulations @MarshmallowsOnToast and @Bumpingalong84! Enjoy those newborn snuggles Smile

@MarshmallowsOnToast @Bumpingalong84 congratulations to you both in your amazing babies!!!! So so happy for you ❤️❤️❤️ What amazing birth story's aswell! Lots of love to you and your families! Xx

SairaBear · 21/05/2020 01:50

@CharlieB93
I hope you’re not still stuck! You MUST go in if so. Phone them and lie as much as needed because they need to check you and help you.

I couldn’t hack it any more, exactly the same as you much crying at the midwives all morning who kept telling me I wasn’t in labour proper and they wouldn’t see me. So I phoned back, told them my waters had gone and I was at 4 mins and they grudgingly said come in for a check. I was 7cm, didn’t meet the water breaking or 5 min criteria till the baby was basically here.
Please get help! You are amazing for lasting as long as you have and they need to help you.
