@sao81 oh man! What a palarva!!! Try not to stress too much (easier said than done, I know) the end is in sight now 🤞🏻 so sorry your baby is being a monkey, hopefully not a sign of things to come when he's a toddler 😅

november90 · 06/05/2020 11:48

@Helensss waaahhh!!!! I googled it and they come out in all lovely colours 😂

@sao81oh bless you, how are you feeling about it all?

sao81 · 06/05/2020 12:03

@Clairesoph hes definitely going to be trouble! Be so worth it though
@november90 if I don't laugh I'll cry 🙈 just going to take each day as it comes, hes going to keep doing what he wants so no point in worrying myself about the worst until it happens

@sao81 oh bless you. I bet unstable lies are quite common but go undiagnosed... at least you have the support of the doctors and you definitely have the correct attitude :)

123Pandy · 06/05/2020 12:21

@sao81 at least they're keeping a close eye on you which is reassuring 🙂 these last minute turners are already keeping us on our toes!

GinUnicorn · 06/05/2020 12:27

Thanks all. Sadly had a terrible experience a few years back and I tend to totally freak out at smear tests so am feeling apprehensive. Might try and take a deep breath and do my calmness apps.

Lu1u · 06/05/2020 12:45

@may2311 congratulations! What a gorgeous name 😍

Hope everything goes ok at your appointment today @Clairesoph

@MarshmallowsOnToast I had multiple sweeps with my first and have had one for this pregnancy. It's uncomfortable but you can stop them at any time if you want to. I like them just because I like to know what the cervix is up to and if any progress has been made since the last one!

@sao81 oh no! That all sounds quite stressful, I assume nothing can be done apart from watch and wait for an unstable lie?

Nothing much to report from me at 40+2 today, keep having strong Braxton Hicks which start at about 10 mins apart and then get down to about 3 mins apart and lasting 30 seconds by late evening and then tailing off and I go to sleep! That has happened since sunday, I am starting to get really pissed off to be honest! Trying to have a chilled day today and won't bother monitoring timings of anything as it seems like a waste of energy.

AlmostAlwyn · 06/05/2020 13:33

@Lu1u hopefully famous last words Grin

Schlobbob · 06/05/2020 14:18

Lu1U that sounds like my latent labour with DC1. Days of braxton hicks, sometimes more painful than others and got to timing them in case that was it.....then by the evening we would go for a walk round the block, into bed then nothing! It was very frustrating! Then when I did go into labour it was BOOM, first contraction then completely regular, baby born 6 hours later! He was born at 40+4. You're most likely very slowly getting from 1-3cm :-)

november90 · 06/05/2020 14:23

Oh @Lu1u! Yes hopefully you have totally jinxed yourself and will be in labour very soon!

So during pregnancy they tell you to limit caffeine as it can cause labour... does that mean if you're ready to go you can increase your caffeine? Sorry if that's a silly question 🤦🏼‍♀️

GinUnicorn · 06/05/2020 14:35

@november90 oh I could murder a coffee! That would be good

GinUnicorn · 06/05/2020 14:36

@MarshmallowsOnToast I think I’m going to be brave and try it. I’ll keep you posted!

november90 · 06/05/2020 14:53

@GinUnicorn I feel the same about a Diet Coke with a bit of lemon in it!

sao81 · 06/05/2020 15:17

@november90 @123Pandy @Lu1u yeahh they said don't worry too much its just they have to make you aware of the risks! Hopefully they can shift him tomorrow with the ECV if not its just making a plan from there
@lu1u aah it sounds like you aren't far off something happening! Id be the same though I get so inpatient when you get pains and then they stop

facevalue · 06/05/2020 15:58

@november90 you can have as much caffeine as you like now. they only say because too much regular caffeine has a tiny risk of smaller baby- that's it! your baby isn't small so enjoy .. i've been having 4 cups of yorkshire tea everyday for the last week - its comforting during lockdown x

facevalue · 06/05/2020 16:01

@sao81 well ! i wouldn't think " happy with risks" is fair to say- they need to say what the plan is- it's a risk they are taking not you - u seem to be following their plan so be clear if you are " happy" with the risks they are taking! i'd just go in and stay with my bags and let them get on with it. but i live 40 mins away from my hospital so it's an annoying long journey to be making every 2 days and an ambulance won't take me there either - definitely wouldn't want to go into my local maternity unit - i don't trust it at all 😳

sao81 · 06/05/2020 16:21

@facevalue I am 10 minutes away from hospital when my partner drives, so I can get there pretty quickly, and staying in for up to 2 weeks with no visitors and not seeing my daughter is not something I want to do unless necessary. I'm back again tomorrow to try and turn him and will make a plan from there, seems I will be heavily monitored now and if anything was to change then I may have to stay in, will just have to take each day as it comes now. Hopefully he can be moved head down tomorrow and stay that way though!

Well that was bloody awful, no pain relief, no option of the muscle relaxant. Just a quick scan and then wrestling match 🥴 he's wedged, butt down, not shifting. The week needed for my section is fully booked so gotta wait for a call cos they're gonna put on some extra surgeries (good of them!) ah well, only two weeks to go 🤷🏻‍♀️

sao81 · 06/05/2020 17:27

@Clairesoph aah I'm sorry it didn't work, have they said how much notice you will get for your section or will it be a call on the day?

OP posts:
123Pandy · 06/05/2020 17:56

@Clairesoph ah no! Sorry to hear it didn't work..welcome to the section club. They've booked me in but it's very near my 40 weeks - thought it would've been sooner to be honest.

Did the doctor offer to try the ECV again?

woollycat · 06/05/2020 18:08

@123Pandy have they told you what will happen if you went into labour before the c section date?

My 38w appointment is tomorrow and I have been worried that baby is now transverse since yesterday, hopefully they can give me a definitive answer tomorrow 🤞🏻

123Pandy · 06/05/2020 18:21

@woollycat they've basically said just to call as soon as I get any signs of labour as the main risk is cord prolapse. I asked for earlier date but as it's my first she doesn't think I'll go into labour earlier.

Bumpingalong84 · 06/05/2020 18:23

Ohh @sao81 I hope they manage to turn him for you. A big reason I went for the turn was because she was a footling breech and that could be a medical emergency, with my daughter being 4wks early I didn’t want to risk going into labour and end up having to have an emergency c section 🙈

Clairesoph · 06/05/2020 18:27

Ah thank you, I was sort of expecting it to be honest but thought he might just do a somersault at the last second. I think she knew he wasn't gonna go when she scanned me, she said his legs are straight which makes it hard to turn. She tried to push him both directions but he was properly wedged, I think his bum is quite engaged 🤣 so there was no offer of a second go.

As for the section she said somebody should call me before the end of the week to arrange a date, then we would need to go along for a pre - op 48 hours before. So sounds like I'll get plenty of notice which is nice. If I go into labour before then I just have to call and go straight in, I can still try for a natural if I fancy it or it will be bumped up to an emergency section. She said he might turn himself, stranger things have happened xx

woollycat · 06/05/2020 18:49

@123Pandy thanks for the info! I am keeping fingers crossed for you.
