@Caspianberg @Kayjay2018 Congrats to both of you!

I’m 36+6 today, feeling quite behind everyone else! Second day of mat leave today and it’s been so nice to relax and not worry about work.

May2311 · 06/05/2020 06:22

Morning all,

Massive congratulations to those who have had their little ones- enjoy every minute.

Our beautiful Ada Rose was born on Sunday 3 May at 17.06pm (38weeks + 3) and weighed 6lb 8oz- she is a little dot!!

Labour was fairly quick considering she is my first & ended up back to back! So a few worrying moments throughout but we are both safe, well and home! 🥰❤️

Xxxx

sao81 · 06/05/2020 06:31

@Caspianberg @may2311 aah congratulation to you both! Glad you are all safe and well at home xx

I have my hospital appointments today. I've barely slept the past 2 days, a mix of anxiety and his head being tucked into my ribcage😭 I think I may have been too hasty in declining the ECV on Sunday, so will be seeing if that is an option today 🤞

Oh more lovely baby news congratulations to you ladies! Every morning I check here and the FB group I'm part of 🤣 even though I'm green with jealousy, I'm so happy for you!!

🥰

Rebecca612 · 06/05/2020 07:52

Huge congrats @May2311 🥰

GinUnicorn · 06/05/2020 08:09

Congratulations @May2311 Flowers glad you are well.

I have a midwife appointment today. Wondering about accepting an awful sweep to get things moving. Any advice?

november90 · 06/05/2020 08:11

@May2311 congratulations on your beautiful Ada ❤️ I bet you are so happy to finally have her in your arms after all this time!

I'm 39 plus 2 and absolutely no sign or suggestion baby is on the way! Lots of movements recently and I feel normal but very cranky 🙈

MarshmallowsOnToast · 06/05/2020 08:11

I've been offered a sweep at my next midwife appointment too so also interested to hear people's thoughts.

Helensss · 06/05/2020 08:24

@GinUnicorn I have been losing my plug for a few days so I think I’m definitely at the stage where I’d accept one.
From my understanding they don’t do any harm and give a good indication of what your cervix is doing which I’d like to know! I don’t have an appt till a week today and if nothings happened by then I’ll definitely be accepting one x

facevalue · 06/05/2020 08:40

@May2311 lovely news- congratulations xxx that new baby smell😍 can't wait

@GinUnicorn @MarshmallowsOnToast ok so i've not had a sweep. i did however go in the room with my very pregnant best friend to hold her hand while she had a sweep. the midwife did it ( said she didn't quiet reach the cervix so she went and called the dr to do it again- the dr came in and explained the procedure - if it's not uncomfortable then you havnt sweeped properly ( so pain is a good sign). the idea is the pressure/ squeeze on the cervix makes it ooze some hormones that makes it stretchy and helps it open. same idea when people say have sex - so the penis pokes the cervix to get this local hormone to get you started.
my friend did go into labour 2 days later so it did work for her xxxx goodluck

AlmostAlwyn · 06/05/2020 09:13

@May2311 congratulations! Flowers

@GinUnicorn I haven't had one, and the cons are relatively limited (pain, maybe some bleeding, maybe some irregular contractions), but I don't think it's a reliable way of getting things started. You're better doing some nipple stimulation and having an orgasm! Grin

You could always have a feel yourself? If you can't reach your cervix then a midwife probably won't be able to easily either. How far along are you?

Bumpingalong84 · 06/05/2020 09:18

Ahhh congratulations all you lovely ladies with new babies 💕 I can’t wait to meet mine now and introduce her to her big sister. I watched clips of one born last night and every time a baby was born and cried I sobbed, god I can’t wait for that moment.

@facevalue yeah my hospital is doing the same, and I know they are testing all staff too. So that’s really good.

Ohh @sao81 I feel for you, I was really struggling with sleep and started getting dizzy spells in the night where her head was pushing on a blood vessel and my sleep has massively improved this last week post ECV.

I had the midwife yesterday 38wks and she’s even more engaged than the day before 2/5ths 😊 so was really pleased, been bouncing on my ball. She was really happy with how low babies head is! So fingers crossed not too long now. Lots of braxton hicks but not much else! She has booked me in for the 21st at 40+1 for a sweep but I’m really hoping baby will be here before then.

Helensss · 06/05/2020 09:21

@May2311 congratulations 🥰

Bumpingalong84 · 06/05/2020 09:23

@Clairesoph is your ECV today?

Clairesoph · 06/05/2020 09:37

@Bumpingalong84 yeah, not til 4 though 😩 nothing like having the whole day to stew on it 🤣

woollycat · 06/05/2020 09:38

@Bumpingalong84 How does the midwife check how engaged baby is? Just by feeling the tummy or you need a scan? I have my 38w appointment tomorrow - curious if she will be checking for engagement.

november90 · 06/05/2020 09:52

So sorry if this is tmi girls... just been to the toilet (ahem) and then there was a clump if clear discharge on the tissue! It wasn't loads.... probably less then the top half of my thumb! Could this be part of the plug 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬

november90 · 06/05/2020 09:52

I was planning on washing my hair tonight so he can just calm down until then 😂😂😂

Bumpingalong84 · 06/05/2020 10:01

Ahhh @Clairesoph I’m so impatient, hopefully 4 will come round quickly. Wishing you the best of luck and hoping it works for you. Update us when you are out.

@woollycat they asked me to breath in and use their thumb and index finger and pinch around the baby’s head low into your pelvis, hard to explain but I’ve had it checked 3 times so far by my mw at 36 and 38wks and also on Monday when I went for presentation scan to make sure she was still head down post ECV they checked.

I do think bouncing on the ball has helped as at on Monday I was 3/5ths and Monday night I bounced away for about an hour and that night I felt lots of pressure down below like she was digging her head down and yesterday she was even lower according to mw. So I bounced some more last night 🤞🏻 I don’t have to see my mw again at 40wks 😊

facevalue · 06/05/2020 10:02

@Bumpingalong84 my DD is very excited to meet her little sister next week- today we gave her this book to get her ready for my departure and her grandparents arriving and what that means. i highly recommend this book from amazon

I had my 38 week appointment yesterday and baby is still 2/5th engaged as she was 2 weeks ago (but midwife said this is lowest they go until in labour). At least she hasn't moved back up 😂

Had my blood pressure, urine checked, babies heart beat listened to and position felt. Back in two weeks on due date to see her next but she didn't say what she may do at they appointment.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 06/05/2020 11:03

@facevalue

Thanks for the info, that helps x

Helensss · 06/05/2020 11:12

@november90 maybe! Gross but mine looked like a massive bit of snot 🤢 had 3 day’s of it, one with brown in it too which was lovely! 😂 x

sao81 · 06/05/2020 11:13

So today the baby is transverse, he is now classed as having an unstable lie. They usually admit you to hospital due to risk of cord prolapse but sre happy for me to go home, been made aware of the risks and if my waters go its 999 straight to hospital which is really scary. They are going to try and turn him tomorrow if that works ill be scanned every couple of days and induced next week. If they cant turn him its a section at 39 weeks unless he decides otherwise. He isnt making things easy for us!
