Mrs Wednesday - fab news, so pleased for you
Sweetheart - welcome - don't worry about the lack of symptoms - I'm sure they'll come soon enough

Uwila · 27/10/2004 10:22

And when they arrive, you'll regret ever missing them.

I can't wait to get to the 2nd trimester. I had to get up at bloddy 4:00 today (with the end of a migraine that will hopefully have gone away before the end of the day) to pick up my dad and neice at Heathrow. When we got back to the house, they went to sleep andI went to work -- something not quite fair about that scenario!

Poor me. Do I sound pathetic?

MrsWednesday · 27/10/2004 10:39

Hello and welcome Sweetheart. You could do what Uwila is doing and hover between two threads if you are a bit unsure of dates. Was your DD early or late?

I started off just with sore boobs but as time has gone on I've gradually accumulated quite a few more.

Is anyone else having problems sleeping? I am up every two hours to go for a wee and am having problems getting comfortable because of my boobs!

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 10:44

My dd was spot on time. I went into labour the day before her due date and gave birth to her the day after her due date.

I didn't relise I was preg with her until after 12 weeks so this early bit is all new to me. I didn't suffer too much with her so I'm hoping I'll be lucky again this time.

I've booked a Dr apt for next Wed to get everything confirmed and register with the midwife so hopefully they can clear up my due date a bit.

I think theres only 2 people on the July thread - I prefer somewhere thats busy so I can have a good old gossip!!!!!

Uwila · 27/10/2004 13:04

oooh. Then this is the thread for you. It's true I'm cheating the system and posting/reading/lurking on the May and June threads. The May thread hasn't been very active this week. Besides some of them are getting over the tiredness and nausea, just makes me jealous.

Actually, I should be thanksful. Haven't gotten much m/s at all this time. I just feel ever so slightly queezy all day when my stomache is empty. So, I've been eating often and nice and plump for Christmas. But I have been soooooooooo tired. And migraines just plain suck.

teabelly · 27/10/2004 13:49

Uwila poor you with the migranes, my brother gets them and I know how awful they can be at times. Know what you mean about the eating to stave off nausea too...unfortunately I'm eating so much at the moment if I carry on like this they're going to be able to roll me into the labour ward in June!!

MrsWednesday · 27/10/2004 14:10

Glad I'm not the only one eating a lot - I'm obsessed with food, and am constantly absolutely STARVING!!!! It's the only enjoyment I can get out of life now I can't drink red wine, so I intend to indulge myself.

The migraines sound absolutely miserable Uwila. Did you get them last time, and if so when did they end?

When do you think you'll tell your dd Sweetheart?

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 14:22

I'm still doing weight watchers - I've got 2Ibs to go until I'm a gold member and it's taken me a year so I'm not giving up now!!!! Hopefully I'll loose them this week and then I can stop going. I need to do it though coz the fact it is free after having a baby is a massive insentive for me to go back and loose all my extra baby pounds!!!!

MrsW, we will probably tell our dd this weekend. We're having a bonfire/fireworks party on saturday night and both mine and dh's family will all be together so it's the perfect time to tell everyone at once. We will tell dd at the same time I expect - that way we can avoid "my mummy's got a baby in her tummy!!!!!!!!"

teabelly · 27/10/2004 14:38

Sweetheart well done on the WW - I've followed it for 5 years now and it's fab - trouble is I can't stop thinking in points now and keep hearing in my head "that's 6 points, that's 4 points" whilst stuffing my face at the moment, ha ha ha.

Good idea too not to tell dd until others know too - we told ds and had the "baby in mummy's tummy" thing 2 weeks ago and so had to fess up

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 14:42

aarrgghh how cute teabelly.

My dd has been waiting for this news for so long - I think she'll explode when I tell her. She's desperate for a sibling to look after.

We told her about a month ago we were having a bonfire party and all I've heard since then is "is it the party tomorrow" so goodness knows what she'll be like once she knows there's a baby on the way.

It's not quite real to me yet so telling her will be very strange.

I've found ww to be great as well. I'm hoping it will help me to be carefull with what I eat. I piled on the Ibs with dd and I REALLY don't want to do it again this time.

lummox · 27/10/2004 14:58

on the mice front, I found that pure peppermint oil dripped onto the skirting boards got rid of the one in our flat.

not sure if I would have been able to bear the smell had I been preggers though.

on early viability scans I had one at seven weeks at the Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley Street (following advice from Seasider). It cost £100 and was fantastic - we got a little picture of our splodge, some measurements and were able to hear the heart beat. Also a v nice doctor, who I felt much more able to ask my daft questions to than the 25 year old GP at my local surgery who seemed very vague.

They fitted me in to a cancellation the day after I rang and I have felt massively less fretful ever since. Really recommend it.

while I'm here - is it true that you can tell whether it is going to be a girl or a boy from whether the heart rate is over or under 140? This is our first, so we really don't mind one way or the other, but the heart rate was 131, and it's fun guessing.

teabelly · 27/10/2004 15:02

Sweetheart I know what you mean - but temptation is a difficult thing to resist

The thing that I've found though over the years is that ok my weight will fluctuate (over xmas, on summer holidays etc) but I know how to loose the weight now, and I just keep an eye on it...so long as it's under about 5lbs I know I can loose it again in a few weeks of being good.

After I had ds I still had a stone to go to get back to my pre pg weight, and so I followed the points again and by the time he was 5 months I was there again - not as quick as posh/liz and their mates but it was good enough for me, he he

teabelly · 27/10/2004 15:09

lummox - thanks might try the peppermint thing - it's the only smell at the mo that I like! Re the heartbeat thing, can't remember what the higher/lower than figure is but generally a slower heartbeat is a boy, and a faster one is a girl. But I have a friend who works on M&B magazine and apparently the new way to tell is if your bottom gets bigger/changes shape then it's a girl, and if it stays relatively the same it's a boy, and spookily that's actaully worked for 5 of our friends

sweetheart · 27/10/2004 15:10

Yeah but teabelly,

We don't go to private hospitals to have babies where the normal service is to provide a free tummy tuck with every c-section.

I think you did really well - I only hope I can be as good!!!!

Just had a crisis at work. I relised all the accounts cheques I sent out yesterday were unsigned!!!!! Now I really know I'm preg - that must be a symptom!!!!

lummox · 27/10/2004 15:13

teabelly - thanks, will have to speak to dh about that one

I won't be able to check as am suffering from mirror-phobia as a result of big veins all over my boobs. it feels like i have to carry them specially on the seventeen occasions I go to the loo each night.

teabelly · 27/10/2004 15:17

sweetheart - he he he I'm in accounts too and that sounds just like the kind of thing I do - and that was before I was pg!!!

lummox - yeah know that feeling too!

Uwila · 27/10/2004 16:10

Teabelly/MrsW,

I get migraines OFTEN, but as far migraines go they are pretty mild (but even mild migraines are miserable). When I'm not pregnant I take the triptan drugs. But, they are on the "don't take it" list for pregnant people. There is actually no evidence to suggest they would harm the baby. But, they are too knew for anyone to make that claim. So, the problem is that I have to just sit out the migraine. I can take paracetemol, but that is next to useless.

Everyone who gets migraines has to just figure out for themselves what triggers them. For me, I haven't pinned it down to exactly what, but I think it's hormonal. And pregnancy makes it worse, but only in the first trimester. The rest of pregnancy I get virtually none. So, as I'm now about 9 1/2 weeks, that's about 2 1/2 more to go and I should be in the clear (fingers crossed!)

Sorry 'bout rambling on....

Uwila · 27/10/2004 16:13

Oh, and if your brother doen't already know about the triptans, tell him to ask his GP for sumatripan. It will abort the migraine. ALthough for some people they come back and then they have to take another. It has some side effects, like achy muscles and tiredness. But, the side effects a FAR better than the migraine.

Glaxo should give me an advertising commision.

muddaofsuburbia · 27/10/2004 16:19

Am feeling very cotton-wool-headed tody if that makes any sense. It's like I've slept for too long. Luckily ds has rediscovered his love of a lunchtime nap and has been fast asleep since 1:30pm I've had my feet up trying to think of food I can stomach. Haven't thrown up for a couple of days, but it feels like I might at any time. I'm so happy I'm feeling so crap IYSWIM!

Teabelly - according to our mouse traps it takes 3-4 days for it to take effect and then they'll most likely die in their nests. I'm just hoping their nest isn't totally inaccessible, cos we're still trying to sell our house and mouse stench probably doesn't go down well for prospective buyers!

On a more positive note, it looks like we're definitely moving back to Scotland on the 15th Nov and I'm sooooooo excited!! grin]

And welcome sweetheart - so glad you made it over here

binatracy · 27/10/2004 16:53

hi everyone
im five and half weeks now but still no symptoms yet!! ive got back ache and slight cramps though? is that normal early on? hope everyone is ok xx

Tessiebear · 27/10/2004 16:54

Afternoon All! Welcome Sweetheart!!! SO good to see you over here!
Teabelly - re the mice - ask me any question you like - i am the mice expert!! We had a MAJOR infestation in our last house - We used poison and traps (not the humane ones i am afraid) Caught about 40 mice in all - it was like a really bad horror movie in our house for a few months and everywhere i went i was on my guard expecting one to run in front of me IYKWIM!!! We contacted a pest controller who just said to keep on doing what we were doing - concealed traps around the edge of the room by the skirting boards as mice always stick to the edges. And btw - where there is one mouse there is usually 2 (they tend to travel in pairs). Do you know how it / they got in? You need to block their point of entry because where one mouse enters others can get the scent and follow. The rule is if a biro can fit through the hole - so can a mouse. We used mouse traps from homebase called "bettatrap" Basically when it catches them you release from the back and dont have to look at the whole mouse as you dispose of it or worry about touching it (my pet hate). We also got the really cheap wooden/metal ones and found them very effective. You do have to deal with removing the mouse though which can be a bit yuck - DH used to do his "rounds" emptying the traps every morning wearing his heavy duty "mousing Gloves"!!!!
Anyway - felt my first sickness today whilst traveling in the car as a passenger. It is really weird but i start the day with an empty stomach NOT feeling sick and the more i eat throughout the day the sicker i feel (most unlike the last 2 times)

teabelly · 27/10/2004 16:57

Uwila, thanks I'll let him know - he's suffered them since he was a small child, and mostly did the darkened room and crying thing, bless . He's in Aussie now but I presume he'll be able to get it over there.

Mudda - god yeah you don't want that smell when trying to sell - let's hope you get a buyer very soon then it won't matter, he he he!
Only a few minutes to go and then my working week is over, yipee! Don't often get the chance to log on when at home, so have a good rest of the week/weekend, and I'll catch up with you guys on monday...maybe even have caught my mouse by then

Tessiebear · 27/10/2004 16:58

Binatracey - i am nearly 5 weeks and have no symptoms except SLIGHT nausea. When i was PG with DS2 i had REALLY bad lower backache early on. I used to keep having baths to ease the pain. It continued to a certain degree throughout the pregnancy and i attended some pregnancy massage sessions which were v. good

teabelly · 27/10/2004 17:03

Tessie there's a couple of places it could be coming in - but I think it's under the sink...glad you said about there being more - dh says he thinks there's only one and that's his argument for using a humane trap, but this will add more weight to my argument to have regular non humane traps, afterall we don't want ds getting used to them and thinking they're pets, ha ha ha!

binatracy · 27/10/2004 17:12
