I’m so glad it’s not just me guys!! I was wondering what on earth was going on. She seems to have moved over to my left hand side now and is kicking my belly again- hopefully she’ll stay there for a bit haha!

Sara7455 · 20/05/2020 22:08

@ShiningStarz thanks for the snuzpod sheet recommendations! Ours arrived today - got a bundle deal from bababoom boutique (or something like that) so it came with the storage pouch, snuzcloud, mattress protector and a couple of sheets for a little over £200 (I forget exactly how much). A few more sheets would come in handy though - I imagine baby will go through them a bit on occasion!

ShiningStarz · 20/05/2020 22:25

Great deal @Sara7455 I saw the deal but read mixed reviews on the snuz sheets. I'm sure all be great though, I'm definitely a newbie worrier!! Exciting to be ordering things now! Just gotta keep track of it all!!

Sara7455 · 20/05/2020 22:30

@ShiningStarz I figured it was worth a shot as I wanted the cloud and the storage pouch anyway so no huge loss if the sheets aren’t great. Will definitely try some of the ones you recommended too!
Trying to only buy one thing at a time so I’m spreading it out a bit or grabbing things while they’re on offer but it’s so easy to lose track. Newbie as well some I’m sure my husband is wondering what all this stuff is half the time 😂

MooseWL · 21/05/2020 15:58

I think I'm finally starting to feel some movement I'm so excited! Even though at my 20 week scan was fine and my placenta is anterior so I knew it could take longer it was still making me a bit anxious! But the last couple of days I've definitely felt a lot more sensations kind of like muscle spasms. Still quite light but hopefully they'll get stronger!
I've also gone crazy with the ebay bundles and now have about 25 sleepsuits 😂 whoops 🤭

ShiningStarz · 21/05/2020 16:01

I love this tutti bambini striped baby blanket! It's gorgeous but £31 on amazon!! That was the cheapest I can find it 🤔 be nice to have one that would be easy to keep clean for car and pram 😊

ShiningStarz · 21/05/2020 16:02

Haha @MooseWL you'll not out of sleep suits that's for sure. That's great you can feel movement. It's nice and reassuring 💜

MooseWL · 21/05/2020 16:21

@shiningstarz that blanket is lovely!
I'm justifying it by thinking most are second hand so that makes it slightly less bad!

pangolin84 · 21/05/2020 16:24

@MooseWL I’ve also got an anterior placenta so that did reassure me a bit as to why I haven’t felt him yet. Still waiting 😂
There’s been a bit of subtle movement in the right area but it could totally be wind (thanks slow digestion). I’m desperate to feel a proper kick.
My mum went a bit mad in the Sainsbury’s baby section the other day - I think she bought one of everything - so I doubt I’ll have to buy any clothes myself...

Sara7455 · 21/05/2020 17:14

@MooseWL that’s so exciting you’re starting to feel movements! It’s really reassuring when you start getting them regularly. Had my 25week check this week and baby went berserk while midwife was trying to check the heart rate, she was like “well you’re definitely getting movements now” 😂

@pangolin84 my mum has gone a bit mad as well, I made a throwaway comment about there not being much in newborn sizes in online shops and she seems to have bought everything she could see! Grateful of course as there’s so much to get so it helps but would like some of the fun shopping for tiny clothes myself too

Piper1879 · 22/05/2020 11:48

Afternoon everyone !! Just thought I'd update , my midwife apps are still going ahead , had 25 week one today , finally got to listen to baby's heart. Midwife lost her temper with hospital as all my growth scans have been cancelled due to covid , apparently they're only doing them if you're bmi is 45 and over and mine is 44.3 but they still won't budge 🤦🏼‍♀️ midwife said she would keep an eye at my next appointment and if she's not happy she will push for a scan , but it does worry me as FTM and someone who's overweight 😔
Bump measured on 90th percentile today

@MooseWL ahh it's lovely when you feel movements !!

I've managed to find good new born stuff in supermarkets but haven't really got much in yet just incase baby works out being big. Looking at getting some extra large muslins where did everyone get theirs from ?

OrDis · 22/05/2020 12:33

@Piper1879 thats good that you had a 25 week appointment, although not so great about the scans! Sounds like the midwife will be keeping a definite eye though. I rang to arrange my 25 week appt and was told they are only doing 28 weeks now and the midwife should be in touch. Completely different to what I was told at the hospital when I went for the 20 week scan. The community teams and hospital teams could do with better internal communication I think!

LatteLover12 · 22/05/2020 12:39

Happy Friday 😀

I think we're going to go for the Joie 360 car seat. I've been chatting with DP about when we'll use the pram/sling etc. I'm lucky enough to live in a lovely village, we can walk to the boys' school etc so the only time I'd want the car seat to come out of the car and onto the chassis would be going to the big shopping centre in town BUT he'd not be allowed in it for that long so again, it seems pointless.

I'd just decided not to bother and stick with the 360 and then my brain decided to worry me about squeezing a big pram through a coffee shop... sigh.

Definitely first world problems but that's where my brain is it in lockdown 😂

Roxy8203 · 22/05/2020 12:48

@Piper1879 your lucky, my midwife appointment was over the phone, only found out that morning when she called, I wouldn't have bothered washing my hair if I knew wasn't leaving the house!
I've got some lovely muslins from this company www.cucumberries.co.uk/

Lilice · 22/05/2020 14:36

I havent seen a midwife since my 8 week booking appointment and I'm really hoping to see one in person for my 25 week appointment. I was told that from 25 week all appointments would be in person, I hope they stick with it. I think its important they check blood pressure, urine, heartbeat at some point.

WillowT · 22/05/2020 15:08

@Lilice I'm the same! Had a 5 min phone call at 16 weeks and then I will have another one at 24 weeks. Won't see a midwife until 28! Would love to see one at 24wks just for reassurance etc.

ChipsAreLife · 22/05/2020 15:09

@Lilice same!!! I was meant to go till 28 weeks but my consultant complained and I'm being seen by the hospital midwives at day assessment as community team didn't want to know.

@Piper1879 I'm glad all was well but that's frustrating re scans. Sounds like your MW is on it and ready to get you seen! Eeekkk! 90th centile! Mine was measuring that at 20 week scan and I now feel huge so interested to see what they say next week!!!

Well done on the purchases! Cracking up at the 8 sheets @ShiningStarz but you're prepared!!! I'm going to order the snuz pod this weekend I think in dove grey too 🥰

Ordered these yesterday. Let me tell you if you can get zipped sleepsuits do it! They are a god send at 3am 🙈

@ChipsAreLife yeah I think I went a little over board!! I bought the snuz pod for upstairs and then the baby lo snug type Moses basket for downstairs. So thought could do with extra sheet for both 🤔 will prob return something tho lol 🙈

Lilice · 22/05/2020 16:45

@ShiningStarz I use pillow covers for my moses basket. I use one that I've slept on so it has my scent so baby thinks I'm right there. I also have moses basket fitted sheets but stopped buying them when I realised I could use a normal pillow cover.

@ChipsAreLife I only spoke to my consultant once and she told me to ring and book an appointment for 25 or 26 weeks because no one has checked my blood pressure since my booking appointment.
@ChipsAreLife @Piper1879 how do you know which centile your baby is on? I'm curious to know what mine is but wasnt told anything.

emma278 · 22/05/2020 17:01

@ShiningStarz im thinking of a moses basket and snuzpod now. You only have your first baby once right... and the moses baskets are pretty... 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Sara7455 · 22/05/2020 17:10

We’ve gone snuzpod and Moses basket but partly because the Moses basket was gifted by a friend whose little one has grown out of it.

@Lilice and @WillowT I had my 25 week appointment face to face with the midwife at the GP surgery this week, so some areas are still doing them. Fingers crossed yours go ahead too! My blood pressure is sneaking up apparently so good that they were able to check really!

ShiningStarz · 22/05/2020 17:13

The lack of appts and face to face is so worrying. Everywhere seems very different.
I went to my go twice to get my BP checked and they were fine about it. They can do urine and all there too.
I'll only be having the 1 @emma278 so hopefully I'll find a friend I can give all my stuff too!!
The baby lo snug (Moses basket) from Smyth's arrived today! Bit surreal seeing a big baby item in the house as all I'v received so far is clothes.
@Lilice I told my partner about that. Great idea! I think I'll start using the little sheets and then hopefully be time little
One arrives they'll have our smell.

Anyone thought about their birthing plan? Totally freaks me out that there will no be no opportunity to discuss with the midwives. We were even supposed to get tour of the unit during an antenatal class but all that's been taken away from us 😥

ChipsAreLife · 22/05/2020 17:15

@ShiningStarz yeah you can always take some back. Better to be prepared and all that!
I won't use a Moses basket as my other two weren't keen. I've got a sleepyhead and a cocoon a baby for downstairs in the day. Then will get a snuzpod for night.

@lilice it had it all in my scan report which was in my folder. I only spoke to my consultant once at 21 weeks, she booked me section and then sorted out me getting checked at 25 weeks.

@Sara7455 that's good you're still being seen. It seems so varied. All our apps have moved to hospital which is actually ok as maternity is it's own building. Sorry to hear about your BP helpfully just a one off 🤞

Lazydaisydaydream · 22/05/2020 17:24

I had an actual FACE TO FACE midwife appointment yesterday... The first time this pregnancy!! Im 25 weeks. And she said she doesn't need to see me now until my 38 week appointment (unless I've had the baby by then 😳). I've got growth scans at 28,32 and 36 weeks so she said they'll check my urine and blood pressure at those instead. I am a bit worried about not getting to discuss any of my birth plan or worries about labour (vbac) though.

We bought a swing for the baby yesterday! Had been looking at the joie serina 2 in 1 swing and had mentioned it to a friend and and she let me know someone she knew was selling one second hand! Perfect timing. We didn't have anything like this for my son but I'm hoping as there's the option for side to side or back and forth swinging, as well as the removable vibrating rocker, that the baby will happily sleep with at least one of those options so I can have my hands free at some points to wrangle the toddler!

Lilice · 22/05/2020 17:28

@Sara7455 good to know you were seen in person, hopefully I'll get checked in person too. I hope your bp settles, good stuff they did check it in the first place.

@ShiningStarz I think my birth plan will be to go for the epidural. I didnt the first time and remember telling my husband I'd never ever give birth again lol. Have you thought about yours?
