Please may I join you? DD 28/09/20

Lovely to see people having 20 week scans and starting to feel movement - our scan is in two weeks' time and I've thought I might have felt a little wriggle once or twice, but it could very well have been gas...

ShiningStarz · 27/04/2020 13:47

Welcome and congrats @LooseyGoosey 💜 is this your first?

Lilice · 27/04/2020 14:34

@ShiningStarz yes you'll be doing a lot of laundries. Sometimes their milk come back up when they're sleeping, not much but it's like little spits here and there. I used white noise on my phone at night, but yeah could work for naps too.
@LooseyGoosey welcome! My scan is also in two weeks. I can't wait!

ShiningStarz · 27/04/2020 14:57

Good to know @Lilice 👍👍

LooseyGoosey · 27/04/2020 15:05

Hi! Thanks for having me!

Yes it is @ShiningStarz, very exciting! We've gone a bit mad in lock down as it's just so nice to have something else to think about... we've definitely bought more baby things by now that I thought we would have done!

@Lilice, ahh lovely! Are you planning to find out the gender? I really want to but DP doesn't so we're still undecided at the moment...

ShiningStarz · 27/04/2020 15:18

That's great @LooseyGoosey anything to help the time go by quicker!!! I'v been having a nosey but will wait until my scan tomorrow before having a proper chat with OH about starting to tick items off the list!! I'v been looking at newborn clothes and a lot is sold out!!

LooseyGoosey · 27/04/2020 15:30

Yeah, I was really surprised at how much had sold out. I think they'll be restocking soon though. Best of luck for the scan tomorrow @ShiningStarz - hope all is well and you enjoy it!

Lilice · 27/04/2020 16:16

@LooseyGoosey i want to keep it a surprise. Sometimes I'm tempted to change my mind though. This is my third and I've always found out previously so would like this time to be different
Could you not find out and not tell your partner? I have a friend who did this. Her husband found out but she didnt. Very strange but he managed to keep the secret until the end

emma278 · 27/04/2020 17:01

All fine at the scan ladies. Took 2 hours with delays and then baby not playing ball. I feel relieved and exhausted now xx

Piper1879 · 27/04/2020 17:06

Happy Monday ! Just catching up after a busy weekend of gutting my house, apparently you can't hoard as much junk now you're having a baby 😂

My movements feel twitchy , sometimes they take me by surprise , he's more active in the evenings and silly o clock. Still not caught him on camera yet , every time I try he stops 🙈 but it could also be due to the fact that I'm overweight.

I've had a look online at a few bits and will probably order what I can, when I can , everything's up in the air at the minute with this furlough business and my boss barely pays on time without there being a pandemic.

@Shiningstarz Your list is saving me at the minute , I made a small list and then didn't think anything more of it 🙊

I still need to find a suitable changing bag , I had my heart set on a fancy one but know it's probably not worth the money but I have no clue how big or what type it needs to be !

Chanel05 · 27/04/2020 17:21

I feel like it must be baby moving at least some of the time but it's so easy to question yourself when you've had no experience of it before!

Glad it went well @emma278! Enjoy a nice treat this evening.

ShiningStarz · 27/04/2020 17:22

Yay @emma278 I hope you can relax now. Fab news 😊💜 just 16 hr countdown to mine now 🤣
I can feel so much now, just be happy to know all is ok 🤞

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/04/2020 17:29

@emma278 that's great news! Do you get any more scans where you are or is that it now?

emma278 · 27/04/2020 17:30

Thanks all! So relieved.

No thats it now for scans. We may pay for a private one later on but will see how we go.

Xx

Sara7455 · 27/04/2020 18:14

Glad scan went well @emma278 such a relief when you hit that milestone!

@Chanel05 it probably is baby 😊. I wasn’t sure for ages but at 22weeks now it’s getting into a little routine and really kicking hard some of the time - feels kind of like a muscle spasm but definitely baby 💕

Lilice · 27/04/2020 18:37

@emma278 happy days!

Ill definitely pay for a third scan in the third trimester. I usually go for a 4d one but I think they're cancelled at the moment. Hopefully by then they'll be allowed again

ChipsAreLife · 27/04/2020 19:24

Welcome @LooseyGoosey and congrats @emma278! My scan was the same last week had to wait ages and baby was being a monkey!

@ShiningStarz re breastfeeding try not to put too much pressure on it. I went into 'hoping' to feed but knowing if I couldn't I could use formula. I managed to BF both of mine for 9 months. I had to stop for medical reasons. The advice I will give you is it's really really tough. It's not this natural easy experience you're lead to believe. The first 8 weeks are brutal and you don't get much break, but after that it gets better and much easier. I cried a lot because it's so hard core. No one really tells you this so I was so unprepared. And the cluster feeding 😬😬😬 good Lord!

But The advantages are no faffing with bottles, milk is ready when they are. You don't need to take stuff out with you etc.

I would recommend speaking to friends who have done it. Kelly mom is an excellent website too. And of course mumsnet has loads of people with great advice! Get Lanoish nipple cream and when your partner goes back to work get some easy to eat and make food! And loads of water helps!

Sorry that was long. Just wanted to be honest!

Love the changing bag @DaffyTaffy24! I've got a lovely Tiba and Marl one that I got as a gift and also a storksak quilted over the shoulder so can choose which one I prefer. I sound really spoilt but I'm not lol!!!!

Yes neutral newborn is like rocking horse poop online! I've got two sleep suits in newborn but my scan showed baby is in the 90th centile currently so may just get 0-3 from now 😅

I never really had the popping more just felt something 'moving'.

I feel like time is absolutely flying!!! X

Re other scans. My trust does them at 36 weeks for growth but they're on hold for the moment. Maybe they'll be back on by then. I would love to do a private scan with the kids 💕

Thank you so much for that @ChipsAreLife my worry is being prepared incase the BF doesn't work. Should I get bottles and steriliser or the self sterilising ones that go in the microwave. I suppose with the lockdown too I really feel I need to be prepared for every eventuality ☹️

emma278 · 27/04/2020 21:15

Be thinking of you tomorrow @ShiningStarz hope your little one behaves more than ours did!!

Xx

ShiningStarz · 27/04/2020 21:35

Thank you @emma278 I hope
So too!! At my 16 week scan our little
one was hiding curled over my placenta keeping warm!!

Chanel05 · 28/04/2020 07:50

@ShiningStarz enjoy your scan!

sianyflewog · 28/04/2020 07:55

Hi everyone! So much to catch up on from last few days! I know a couple of people have scans this week (mine is Thursday - at last!!!!!!), and just wanted to wish you all the best ❤️

@Lazydaisydaydream - I’ve been thinking of you so I’m so glad to hear your appointment went well! Horrible to have that initial wait, but at least it’s been checked.

@ShiningStarz - We had Ewan the sheep first, lovey white noise sounds, lovely glow but he only played for 20 minutes. They do a deluxe one now though. We then got a MyHummy bear which plays for 12 hours, and it kicks back in every time there baby stirs and makes a noise (it’s really sensitive actually - it kicks in if I creak on a floorboard!). We always used them for naps and nighttime, we still use the MyHummy at night just to drown out any noise (in the street, my next door neighbours TV (bless him!)) while H is falling asleep.

LooseyGoosey · 28/04/2020 07:57

Yay! Glad to hear it went well @emma278, best of luck for today @ShiningStarz!

Yeuch, it looks like the rain has set in here... it's so dark this morning!

sianyflewog · 28/04/2020 07:57

@Chanel05 I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t really felt the baby - it’s quite inconsistent early on, and they don’t worry about movements until 24 weeks+. The position of your placenta can also affect how much movement you feel. If you have an anterior placenta (positioned on the front) it can cushion kicks, so you don’t always feel them. This has happened to quite a few of my friends x
