@AndddddHerewegoagain I can't even imaging having a naughty toddler and being pregnant and in pain at the same time. Shane we cant yet have a glass of something to relax .. very soon though ! Xx

@APD1981 awesome ! Just told the husband he said we have access to the channel. Will be watching x

Magpiefeather · 06/05/2020 06:33

@BabyBird20 thank you for your solidarity with the calf cramps. I spent yesterday with bruised and weak feeling leg, still feels like it today but I managed to escape last night without any cramps. Had to get DH to massage my legs before bed, seemed to work. He wouldnt believe me though that it’s way worse than a running cramp!

Gigitree · 06/05/2020 08:07

Thanks @Rinoa @SearchingTheSkies glad I’m not the only one that hasn’t bought any toys yet, I was starting to panic thinking maybe we should as it’s not like we’ll be mooching around the shops anytime soon!
@millettmum that’s a good idea to add toys to any orders to get free delivery!

Gigitree · 06/05/2020 08:09

@AndddddHerewegoagain sorry to hear you’re having a rough time atm. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to have a toddler and be pregnant and go through all of this pandemic craziness at the same time!

peetieswie · 06/05/2020 08:16

I found I haven't had cramps if I have a banana at night, go for an evening walk and stretch my legs a bit in bed. Felt the beginning of one but was able to stretch it away. Had three in a weak, absolute agony, before I started doing these things. Also enjoying frozen bananas in smoothies with oats and peanut butter but not sure if the banana I have that way makes a difference as also eating one before bed.

Magpiefeather · 06/05/2020 09:34

That’s great @peetieswie I’m so glad you found a way to prevent them and haven’t suffered since! I did do some stretches last night and had a banana so think that may have helped. We’re down to our last banana now though! Shall have to guard it for bedtime haha. Ooh I like the sound of a frozen banana smoothie!

Millettmum · 06/05/2020 10:28

Anybody recommend a good maternity belt for pelvic pain?

Mj2196 · 06/05/2020 11:43

@AndddddHerewegoagain i feel you! I feel so guilty for my 3year old as I’ve just felt so sluggish &unable to give her my full attention . She’s a 4.30Am waker every day as that’s what time my dp gets up for work 😖 hope your feeling better . I’ve just collected a huge homemade pie from our local cafe cause I just cba cooking tonight already !

AndddddHerewegoagain · 06/05/2020 11:48

Thanks everyone. Had a good cry this morning and feel much better now. Toddler has been slightly more containable. Saw the midwife who said baby is 3/5 engaged so just need to keep bouncing on the ball and take some pressure off myself on trying to have a perfect house all the time plus entertain the toddler and do everything else! Husband is currently making the toddlers lunch whilst i sit in the garden ignoring the chaos i can hear him making Grin

Omg. BBC reporter just phoned. Because from our conversation yesterday he thought I was "really strong", they're coming to the house to film me tomorrow!!! I'm going to be interviewed through the window!!! He said that if it were a Skype recorded piece it might not get the same air time as if they came here and I presented so many strong views that they want to give pregnant women more of a voice!!!

Magpiefeather · 06/05/2020 13:16

I’m with you @AndddddHerewegoagain and @Mj2196! Mine was awake at 2.30, took an hour to go back to sleep, then I woke her sneaking downstairs for a snack!!!! Grrr squeaky stair you are the bane of my life!! So I was back on her floor til 4.30, took me half hour to get back to sleep then she was up for the day at 6. Strangely I don’t feel too shattered (yet). I joked they are secretly training us up for when baby comes!

Sat in car park waiting for my midwife appointment. Thank goodness I left lots of time, my car battery was flat!!! I wouldn’t mind but we’ve purposefully been running it every week or so just to keep it ticking over. Anyway I’m very grateful DHs car is at home (he’s furloughed) so I could just jump in that. But everyone keep checking your car battery is ok and give your cars a little run every now and then, especially with due dates approaching!

Smiffette · 06/05/2020 13:19

@APD1981 that's so exciting!! Good luck! Hope it goes really well and you get all your points across x

APD1981 · 06/05/2020 13:25

@Magpiefeather my car battery went the other day too. Mechanic came to house to fix it and said just running the engine isn't enough to charge it, particularly if you have a Ford. You need to put a 'load' onto the battery too. So, heating, heated seats, full beam lights, or air con and leave it for half an hour once a week. If it doesn't have a 'load' it doesn't use enough power for it to then charge itself back up, if you get me. So now we're doing that with both cars once a week.

Good luck with the Midwife!

Gigitree · 06/05/2020 13:30

Wow @apd1981 that’s amazing, well done you for speaking up so strongly for pregnant ladies. Hope it goes well! Xx

@Magpiefeather that’s a really good point re:car battery - my husband and I are trying to keep a record of which car we moved and when, because he often alternates when doing the food shop and then I try and take the one that hasn’t moved for the longest time to any midwife appointments! That would be such a disaster if the battery was dead when it comes to the big drive to the hospital!

Magpiefeather · 06/05/2020 15:09

@APD1981 that’s amazing about the interview! Good luck!

Funnily enough it is a Ford, an 04 Fiesta and I had no idea about those things so thank you so much for the tips! We have homestart cover so RAC are coming out to have a look. Our other car is a much newer Ford so I don’t think there’s as much danger of the battery going flat, but will definitely follow your tips on that one too!

Blizy · 06/05/2020 15:55

Oh gosh, I hear you with the feeling rubbish and trying to entertain a wee one! My 5 year old ds is full on 24/7 he is undergoing asd assessment and is hard work! Although today has been a hood day so far, my baby box arrived and ds loved looking through it. It's a lovely sunny day here in Glasgow, we are in the garden with the pool out- it's bliss!

LillianFullStop · 06/05/2020 16:38

@APD1981 good luck with the interview!!

@Andddddherewegoagain I feel for you on the having a 3 year old to deal with at this late stage. They are so full of energy swinging between calm/mad/happy/sad/etc, 0-100 in 2 seconds, etc! Even worse when you're in pain! Hope you got the time to relax in the garden today - weather is beautiful.

APD1981 · 06/05/2020 16:41

@magpiefeather I have a 64 fiesta and hubby has a 66 focus. Mechanic still recommended we keep charging up hubby's too. His car has stop/start motion so if the battery goes it's £300 as a specialist battery! We have home start too and so they told us all of this. Apparently, jump starting a Ford is not a good idea either as, the way Fords are designed, it can damage the car you're getting the charge from!

peetieswie · 06/05/2020 17:38

@APD1981 congrats on the interview, how exciting! Good luck! Funnily enough we have one fiesta and just bought a second one yesteday as husband changes job end of May and needs to commute. He's taking the dog to the park in the mornings so car is getting a short run but will need to start running the second car to keep it working too by the sound of it.

Actually feeling a bit less achey the last two days, but still exhausted. Easily able to nap for an hour in the day and then sleep 10:30-8 at night and not feel I've slept too much, although that includes a lot of waking up in the night and struggling to go back to sleep so that's probably why 🤷‍♀️

AndddddHerewegoagain · 06/05/2020 18:00

Thanks again everyone. I mean it in the nicest way when i say im glad im not alone! Sending all the second timers a large glass of something for when we can have it!! Actually had a lovely afternoon with the toddler much nicer than yesterday!! Leak has been contained upstairs but we currently have no upstairs bathroom so im going to have to traipse downstairs everytime i need the toilet until its fixed (i know first world problems!)
Midwife wouldn't do a sweep today due to the risk of infection 😤😤 which literally makes no sense when they have gloves on but nevermind.

Glad you've had a better day x

BabyBird20 · 06/05/2020 19:02

Hi all, another question for those in the know, what do I need to pack in the baby bag? I've got the hospital bag for me list but trying to make sure I've got enough for baby! How many nappies, breast pads etc, do I need any creams or ointments? And what outfits are you taking for June births? Sleepsuits of the the little body suits? Do I need a cardi?

Sorry, a million questions, can you tell I'm panicking that I've not packed this yet! 😬😬

Millettmum · 06/05/2020 20:00

@BabyBird20
Found this the other day, doesn't say quantities but gives you an idea.

Due June 2020: thread 6
AndddddHerewegoagain · 06/05/2020 20:08

@BabyBird20 the baby will need a vest, sleepsuit and hat whatever the weather. Even when we had the heatwave last year this was the advice. Its easier to delayer a child than not have enough!! Also i would go for a cellular blanket over a cardigan.

Scratch mitts, ive packed about 20 nappies, if i need more they will have to let my husband onto the ward (because of gestational diabetes i will have to stay for 2 feeds at least so wanted to be prepared!)

I've put all the outfits, vest sleepsuit etc in individual freezer bags. It means in the middle of the night or during a poonami / chunder mountain that you can just grab a bag and it has a whole outfit in instead of rummaging around! (And we all know its going to happen at 3am when everyone else is silent 😂😂)

Ive also packed water wipes and nappy cream- heres tip from a second timer- Get the nappy cream/ vaseline on the babys bum before that first poo. Makes cleaning it so much easier.

Ready to feed bottles if you're planning on bottle feeding, muslins, bibs. I think thats all I have packed xx

Can i ask if anyone who has a snuzpod could add a photo of how to attach it to the bed? My one didn't come back with instructions from when I lent it to a friend and we've changed beds since last time! If anyone could upload the page I'd be really grateful
