That's so exciting @newbyxxx! do you feel ready? I should be getting my ELCS date in a couple of weeks which should be on my 39th week so this baby is coming in 5 weeks! Freaking out over going into labour before the date though as it throws my childcare plans out the window and I may have to go solo.

I tried doing an exercise video with DD and DH on YouTube this AM and well I could just about manage 15% of it and what I did manage made everything ache. Confused

Oh no @Ginfilledcats! I find my emotions are all over the place when I don't get enough sleep - i feel unbalanced somehow.

34+5 💙

Kez437 · 29/04/2020 16:50

Hi all just wondering if anyone has thought about what snacks to bring in their hospital bags? Don't know if it is baby brain but I've kind of drawn a blank. Is it healthyish things we should be bringing to keep energy up? And then what about our OHs, conscious that given current circumstances there will be no canteen or McDonalds close etc and he is miserable when hungry and that's the last thing I'll need to put up with lol Also I'm guessing we need money for car park and vending machines? Soo much to think of!

@u

Kez437 · 29/04/2020 16:54

Don't know what I did there

@umabb I've also had carpal tunnel which flares up now and again and have found a good tight support helps.

@Rinoa if it's worth anything Gina Fords book recommends just putting a hand towel down on the mat when they are very little as they tend to not like the cold. Must admit this was the first I'd even thought of this

Gigitree · 29/04/2020 16:59

@Ginfilledcats oh yes my emotions are all over the place! I cried yesterday because my dog trod on my foot 😂 in my defence he is very heavy footed and was scrambling to get to his tennis ball so managed to leave a scratch/bruise I then noticed that both my feet were a bit puffy and cried because they looked weird 😂

Last week I got the giggles and laughed so much I could barely breathe and then that somehow turned to tears! Lol!

@Kez437 I follow a lady on Instagram called Laura Thomas and she’s now pregnant and started a page called bub.appetit and the other day she did a post about labour snacks and have some helpful suggestions.

My biggest dilemma is when to buy them! Can I trust myself not to eat them before I go into labour if I buy them too soon! 😂😂

32 weeks today!

umabb · 29/04/2020 17:05

@Ginfilledcats @Busylizzie85 I cried the other night when I showed the husband my very shallow belly button and he looked and said oh dear let's hope it doesn't pop... i just freaked out ! But he was lovely said I'm surprised you didn't cry more.. 😆 I guess instead of crying Im quite grumpy and not very good a company quite often like yesterday, just because my hand hurts, my heart racing and I felt tired the whole time.. Nothing felt right. 🤪

@Kez437 i think I need some carbs like digestive biscuits, rice crackers and dried fruits (mentioned a few days ago by one of us I thought are really good idea). I will get some savoury stuff too just in case needed some salt! Maybe hoola hoops... And sugary energy drinks in case can't eat at all.

Rinoa · 29/04/2020 17:05

@Kez437 I was thinking of getting granola bars, nuts, dried fruit. DH likes jerky so will prob bring that. Now sure about proper food though, am I dumb to assume the hospital will provide hot food to partners if needed ?

Thanks about the feedback re changing table. I guess I can just base it on how hot or cold it is? When summer hits it'll be hot where I am (attic flat) but doesn't hurt to put a towel down !

umabb · 29/04/2020 17:08

Maybe the husband can make some sandwiches for himself ! I've asked him to have a think hehe

umabb · 29/04/2020 17:11

@Rinoa oh jerky I love. Would it be a scene for a woman in labour chewing those stuff? 😆 I had a survey a few years ago and I did get a cold sandwich after that .. I wouldn't reply on the hospital providing any food though given the circumstances.

umabb · 29/04/2020 17:12

Had a surgery!* never had a survey done in a hospital lol

umabb · 29/04/2020 17:20

Anybody considering cord blood /stem blood banking ? Just wondering if the market is mature enough or storage tech is advanced enough to keep the cells properly

NakeliP · 29/04/2020 17:51

I think I have tendonitis rather than carpal tunnel - pain is on the top of wrist rather than inside/on the underside. Got a splint now but a bit worried as I can't bear weight on it on all fours - means half my exercises I can't do, and how can I have an 'active' birth? I nearly couldn't get out of the bath yesterday.

I have a video call with my health visitor next week - I'll be 34 weeks.

newbyxx · 29/04/2020 17:55

@LillianFullStop yeah I definitely feel ready
Now, feels like we've all been pregnant for ages! Haha can't believe I've waited my whole life for this and it's happening in a month 💙

Also I had midwife today and I've gained nearly 3 stone which isn't as bad as I thought considering I've been obsessed with garlic bread haha but looking forward to being able to put my shoes on and go for a nice long walk without being in pain!

We finished our nursery today and so happy with the results so we are officially ready for his arrival 😊

Have my last growth scan tomorrow so looking forward to see how heavy he's estimated was 5lb 3oz 2 weeks ago! X

Due June 2020: thread 6
Smiffette · 29/04/2020 18:22

I had my midwife appointment today, all good, bump is progressing nicely just below the 50th percentile 😊

Next appointment in 2 weeks when I'll be 36+2! These 2 weekly appointments are going to make due date come round even quicker!

Magpiefeather · 29/04/2020 19:22

@newbyxx oh wow your nursery looks beautiful!!!!

umabb · 29/04/2020 19:40

@newbyxx LOVE your nursery !!

Pegase · 29/04/2020 19:40

@newbyxx I love that paint colour. So beautiful.

They definitely don't provide any food for partners so bring that. Although of course might be a sharp entrance and exit for partners if things still like this.

I have dried apricots and mango, flapjacks, jelly babies and Jaffa cakes so far. Need something savoury. Maybe some Graze boxes. And Fibrogel sachets to keep everything moving!!!

LillianFullStop · 29/04/2020 20:20

@newbyxxx that nursery is perfection!!! so exciting!

My next appointment is at 36+5 so it will be close to my 37 weeks!

I'm planning to bring some Bounce balls and chocolates but starting to think I need something more substantial... a cheese platter and crackers would be nice but I don't think they'll appreciate the cheese smell on the ward Blush

UKtoSK · 29/04/2020 21:21

Re snacks my midwife recommends also bringing sweets and chocolate to get baby moving between contractions in case you can’t feel them moving (to avoid being continuously monitored). Otherwise I’m thinking cut up fruit, cereal bars/flapjacks, just things that are easy to eat in small bites, and easy to be fed by my husband if I’m struggling to eat myself.

Mj2196 · 29/04/2020 21:30

I’m planning on taking little jelly pots ,Flapjacks & rice cakes . & definitely mints. 100% recommend Lucozade sport or those Robinson’s squashed. The lukewarm water just doesn’t cut it .
All my chocolate was slightly melted last time as they have the rooms sooo warm.(& that was in October not June )🙈!

MissisBee · 29/04/2020 21:42

I've been crying like a loon for days too. I'm so tired, was sick again today. Really fed up but also getting more anxious as time goes on. DS had an accidental nap this afternoon, so took ages to get settled at bedtime. I've started knitting a cardigan for the baby, so I think I'll do a bit of that to settle me before bed

Kez437 · 29/04/2020 22:28

Ohh thanks everyone for the good suggestions, definitely helpful. @Pegase fibrogel is such a good shout, I suffer from lack of movement at the best of time so I'll make sure to throw some of them in. Also @UKtoSK interesting about the sweet things, would never have thought of that so I'll add them. Getting hubby to make his own sandwiches is now definitely on the radar, I feel like I can at least suggest it and if he doesn't he then has no right to complain about hunger When I was attending my yoga class the instructor there told me about Labour Aid, if you goggle it you will get the recipe but effectively it is a drink that has all nutrients etc to help keep you going and is apparently really really effective so I'm going to get hubby to make that for us going to the hospital.
@newbyxx your nursery is gorgeous! I love the shade of blue, it's so different for a nursery and so stylish Glitterball

BabyBird20 · 29/04/2020 22:43

I've had such a crazy day today, just had a chance to catch up on this! Love the nursery @newbyxx , where did you get the elephant toy from?

I have got the most painful legs every since I had the night cramps, feel like I've pulled muscles in both legs and can barely walk now! Generally feeling too big for my skin and not sure how the bump can grow any more too!

Thanks for all the tips on the hospital bag, I'm panicking now as haven't even got half the stuff for mine yet and it all suddenly feels very close reading how few weeks we all have left! That's this weekends job as then have 3 weeks left of work! 😬😬

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 30/04/2020 00:18

It's so funny to come on here every couple of days and see loads of posts with the same experiences! This week hormonal outbursts I burst into tears watching the special needs kids choir on BGT so forcefully I gave my husband a fright (!) and I've been on the verge of tears all week! God to know I'm not alone.

@newbyxx LOVE the nursery!

Re snacks: I love sandwiches more than Joey from Friends does so I'm deffo taking a wee packed lunch! Current faves are cheese, ham and coleslaw or a Scotch morning roll (any Scottish Mums will understand the sheer deliciousness of a morning roll) with corned beef or chopped pork - classy! Grin

Blizy · 30/04/2020 01:44

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth I share the joy of a crispy roll loaded with corned beef! Can I ask what hospital you are giving birth in? Il be in the Princess Royal maternity in Glasgow. It's nice to see a fellow Scot in here!

newbyxx · 30/04/2020 06:29

Thanks for the nursery appreciation ladies I had a vision and it paid off needing to get large plants etc to tie in the jungle theme when I'm aloud out the house 😊

@BabyBird20 surprisingly both stuffed animals are from IKEA

Scan this morning shame OH can't come still! Also told he's not aloud to come in the hospital when I'm being induced so potentially up to 24 hours by myself 😔 he's only aloud in once I'm moved to the labour ward, that's if things stay as they are currently with government guidelines

Hope everyone is well x
