@Blizy and @MissisBee me too! They're not painful but was a bit freaked out when first noticed it!

umabb · 29/04/2020 10:21

@Blizy not that but I have something odd too. Pain in wrist / root of my thumb since Monday and lost grip. Just looked up and realised carpal tunnel syndrome is a thing in pregnancy too 🤪 this list is just getting longer and longer...

Btw just saw news on BoJo's new baby. Always thought they were expecting similar time with us or even a bit later.. glad it all went well for them.

Gigitree · 29/04/2020 10:41

Yes I thought she was due later too @umabb because they had said ‘early summer’ not springtime.
They’ve had a crazy few weeks haven’t they!?

Busylizzie85 · 29/04/2020 10:50

I have carpal tunnel too @umabb it's so painful in the night and mornings when your hands aren't doing much! It is another fun pregnancy symptom most people would not be aware of!!

SearchingTheSkies · 29/04/2020 10:57

@Gigitree @umabb Yes I also thought the baby was due later than this. BoJo has had quite an eventful few weeks to say the least!! Glad their baby is well.

umabb · 29/04/2020 10:59

@Gigitree yeah huge ups and downs. Glad it turned out all fine for them :)

@Busylizzie85 I didn't know it was pregnancy relevant at all until today. I have a piano that I play every a few days I thought I did something odd with that. Really hurts and useless hand now hehe. I try to alternate an ice bag and a hand warmer that helps a lit.. 🤪

APD1981 · 29/04/2020 11:01

I've just had a phone call from my hospital setting up a telephone Health Visitor consultation next week. Is that normal? Anyone know what it's for? They said it'd take about 30 mins but didn't say what it was for.

Busylizzie85 · 29/04/2020 11:04

@APD1981 I had a letter through last week for a health visitor check I think it's just to introduce themselves etc before birth.
I can't have mine as I have moved and although I have registered now somewhere else it's been during lockdown so none of the paperwork has been done so I doubt I'll see anyone until after baby is born.

APD1981 · 29/04/2020 11:07

Oh thanks for that info. I'm actually looking forward to it as my days are so quiet that it'll be nice to have something different happen!

Blizy · 29/04/2020 11:24

@umabb I had carpal tunnel in my last pregnancy, it hasn't reared it's head this time yet...
I'm just back from seeing the midwife, my blood sugar is a big high so had to have another blood test. Midwife said that will be my last appointment with her as my next appointments will be back to the consultant. I'm due in the hospital for consultant and growth scan on the 11th May. Hopefully will be discussing birth details and getting a date for my section.

SearchingTheSkies · 29/04/2020 11:35

@APD1981 Out of interest, did your hospital say why they were stopping water births? Is it the Covid19 risk or more to do with potentially fewer staff to facilitate it? Just wondering...

AndddddHerewegoagain · 29/04/2020 11:42

@umabb i found wearing wrist splints at night really helped with carpal tunnel. Not glamourous at all but effective!!

APD1981 · 29/04/2020 11:48

@searchingtheskies I just checked the info they sent again and it says that it's to protect ALL from the spread of Covid 19. Nothing else. So I read that as a precautionary measure as a mum could be asymptomatic but I suppose staffing issues could also be behind that. My midwife said yesterday that it could change again by June so not to give up hope.

Gigitree · 29/04/2020 11:54

@SearchingTheSkies my maternity unit released a video answering questions around covid-19 and they said while they are still allowing water births, they know other NHS trusts have decided to stop them based on the increased risk to staff. Something to do with them having to put their hands in the water to help mum/catch baby etc.
However they said they have invested in additional PPE to limit the risk to staff so they’re still proceeding with water births at the moment. They’ve even changed one of their rooms into a ‘home from home’ room with fairy lights and an inflatable birth pool. Because they’ve had to cancel home births and divert everyone to the hospital maternity unit which is normally for high risk births. So they’ve tried to create an area for the low risk births which I think is great news!

But let’s keep everything crossed that things are improved enough by June that things may change! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

newbyxx · 29/04/2020 12:33

Had my birth plan chat with my midwife today, being induced at 39 weeks. So 4 weeks time il be having my little man. So excited! Xx

SearchingTheSkies · 29/04/2020 12:49

@Gigitree @APD1981 Thanks for the info - I can see it would be a sensible precaution. I'm sure there will be new guidance by June. I'd love a water birth but I'm pretty sure my hospital has only one pool anyway, so not a guarantee at the best of times.

@newbyxx so exciting!! And so soon! It's starting to feel so real, isn't it?

Baby has been a bit quiet this morning, which made me worry for a little while, but has perked up now. This happens all the time (her pattern) but I can never relax until I feel her move more.

APD1981 · 29/04/2020 12:59

Wow that really is no time at all @newbyxx. Do you mind me asking why you're being induced early? X

UKtoSK · 29/04/2020 14:18

@newbyxx that’s so exciting! Can’t wait to start seeing all the “had my baby!” posts on here soon!

I have another weird ache/pain to add to the list. Right above my belly button and to the right there’s a small spot that has been hurting since Sunday and getting worse. Feels like a pulling/tearing pain. I assumed it was a ligament at first but now I’m not sure. Maybe muscle? Going to ask the doctor at my scan on Saturday anyway. Whole belly is stretching today so I assume it’s just from growth. Ordered a belly support band as it’s getting uncomfortable walking now. Anyone else using one?

umabb · 29/04/2020 15:18

@AndddddHerewegoagain thanks ! I might give wrist splints a try x

@newbyxx I'm so excited for you ! It'll be amazing to see all the posts of our new babies !!

@UKtoSK I tried to use a band for a few weeks between 28-31 i think, when I out walking but every time I got a stitch kind of sharp pain on the lower right tummy. I tried to experiment without it , so I can still get that pain occasionally but a lot less. I don't know for sure if it's relevant but I used it mainly for my backache which is a lot better recently so not using it much ..

newbyxx · 29/04/2020 15:31

Yes very exciting however I've heard induction is a very painful process but will be worth it. @APD1981 I have low Papp-a and it's just something they do when you have that x

APD1981 · 29/04/2020 15:45

Ah I see. I always wonder why people are told early on that they're being induced. It's so exciting it's so close. I am feeling really ready for baby to come now. Can't wait!

Ginfilledcats · 29/04/2020 16:39

Anybody getting totally random emotional days? I've been a bloody wreck all day about everything.
Latest thing tried to get up off the sofa and pulled a muscle on my bump and cried. Didn't hurt that much, for my tears you'd have thought I'd broken a limb. Cried about work 3 times. Cried because my husband hasn't left work yet.
Cried because the baby movements don't feel as strong. Cried because I normally cry about that on a Thursday.

34 and 2. Ready for this baby already!

Busylizzie85 · 29/04/2020 16:43

@Ginfilledcats I have been in tears on and off for about a week! I cried today because my sponge cake was not working, I cried because I was tired but hungry, I cried last week because my partner stole all the rice from our takeaway, I basically want to cry over everything!
Hormones are wonderful things 😐

Pegase · 29/04/2020 16:44

Ugh take all the pain relief if you are having induction!

@UKtoSK I have to wear a band if going for a walk. The bump movement without causes me a lot of pain.
