I've been having a lot of lemonade so DH has it on his shopping list when he steps out for the weekly shop. Not quite a G&T but hits the spot - really liking the citrus/bitter flavour. Have also been getting on the chocolates and ice cream - I wouldn't normally feel so guilty but I've been quite inactive with the lockdown and stuck at home I think my weight gain is more mummy weight than baby weight Blush

Sorry for those suffering with constipation - is it pregnancy vitamin related? My midwife told be at 27 weeks that I could probably just finish what I have and no need to take them all the way to due date - it's more the Vitamin D we need to keep taking through the last weeks and breastfeeding. Failing that I was prescribed Movicol after my last birth which worked well for me.

@sarahlounich sorry that sounds so stressful! It's hard to be out in a position that you feel have no control over.

Re: visitors I think we will have no visitors besides my Dsis who I hope will watch DD for us while we're in hospital. All our other family our overseas so they can't visit anyway and we will have to say no to friends.

I'm not sure what to do yet if nurseries open up. It would be really helpful to have DD there during the day with a newborn at home but at the same time I worry about her being exposed and potentially bringing something back to our isolated household Confused

Gigitree · 21/04/2020 15:15

Yes @umabb just devouring an ice lolly now 😋

mrssunshinexxx · 21/04/2020 15:33

@umabb keep positive you just never know what could of happened in 6/7/8/9 weeks time x

MissisBee · 21/04/2020 15:47

Piles - I'm using anusol suppositories and boots own brand cream (I think it's the same stuff as germoloids). If you're getting anusol, get the 4 way action one, rather than the 3.

Visitors - hopefully immediate family visiting will be ok by then. Both sets of our parents are pretty well isolating at the minute, so I think there would be more risk to them than to us. To be honest though, I found visitors really overwhelming when DS was born, so will probably find some restriction helpful!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 21/04/2020 16:18

@LillianFullStop i feel the same about nurseries- minus my potential c section dates.

I think I'll be happy to send him back in June if this is when schools go back. Unfortunately this virus isnt going away until theres a vaccine so i guess we have to get back to normal life at some point!

I hope we are able to see family too soon. My mum will be devastated it not, as will I. Both my mum and husband are front line NHS so I feel the risk is the same to see either of them...but obviously won't be going against the rules.

I think everyone keeps forgetting that the isolation and the rules are not to prevent us getting the virus (that's inevitable) but to avoid us all getting it at the same time, and overwhelming the NHS, and hopefully we'll know more about it so can treat better/quicker if people are sick enough to require admission.

Fingers crossed we can keep our legs crossed for long enough that some measures are relaxed a bit.

I'm 33 weeks today and have finally allowed the car seat and snuzpod to be in the house, albeit in their boxes. Has anyone set up completely and is ready yet?

I'm trying to balance being ready and having things to do when I start Mat leave at 38 weeks!

APD1981 · 21/04/2020 18:46

@Ginfilledcats I'm pretty much all set up and ready to go. I get anxious if I leave something late. I like to be organised in advance so I know that I'm done. So pram, car seat, crib, cot, bouncer etc are all ready to go. Baby clothes are all washed, bags are mostly packed. Just waiting on an order from Boots. I'm glad I got organised so early as it has stopped me worrying about not being able to get things in the lock down. Fortunately have some newborn and 0-3 clothes already. Not loads, but enough to see us through a few days at a time even if we end up having to wash them most days.

As for seeing people, my mum is totally shielding and has been since we and the over 70s were told to socially distance. She was identified as vulnerable by sainsburys straight away and she gets a guaranteed delivery every week. She has literally not left the house in 5 weeks and she isn't planning to. She also has some masks she can use if necessary. My dad died last July so being on her own is tough but she wants nothing more than to be able to see the baby. It's all she's living for. I think if we wear masks and stay in the garden (yay for summer babies) she'll be able to come and see him/her. I just couldn't deny her that. Really hoping by 6 weeks time things will have been relaxed slightly, anyway. As for other visitors, I will only allow immediate family (my bro, sis + her family) at first, even if things are more relaxed. Everyone else will just have to wait! My DH is older than me and has young adult children. They both work part time in shops and their mum and step dad are HCPs (nurse and consultant doctor). We can't even let them see their new sibling unless it's through a window! 😢

mrssunshinexxx · 21/04/2020 19:07

@Ginfilledcats I'm all set up minus a few things I need to order off next such as a couple cardigans, sun hat, a cot blanket

Gigitree · 21/04/2020 19:21

I’m the same as @APD1981 I like to be organised and so does my husband so we have everything ready and set up and clothes washed and put away etc.
I just need to double check I have everything in my hospital bag and then I’m pretty much done. I have a list of things that I can pack in my bag just yet as we need them between now and then and I haven’t bought any snacks for the hospital bag yet. But I think I have everything else I need.

Now I’m just going through the positive birth company’s digital pack to keep me occupied between now and the birth.

MissisBee · 21/04/2020 19:58

I've the Moses basket down, all cleaned and ready. Can't find the sheets for it though. Pram carry cot cleaned, first sizes of baby clothes all washed. Car seat down but the newborn inserts are missing. I suspect they've run away with the Moses sheets. We've got a couple of packs of newborn nappies in, hospital bag pretty much packed. The baby's bedroom is nowhere near ready, but that's ok, cos she'll probably not be in it till next year anyway

Smiffette · 21/04/2020 19:58

@Ginfilledcats I am 33+1 today and just yesterday tried out the car seat in the car... think I'm going to need lots of practice!!

I have 3 weeks left after this week and have nearly done everything I planned to do in my 3 weeks annual leave! I've been working from for 2 weeks now and so save 2 hours a day commuting plus have lunch time to do stuff. So I am feeling pretty prepared!

I just hope some restrictions are relaxed in the next 4 weeks, at least then I can go see family before the baby comes!

Blizy · 21/04/2020 20:36

Dh and I spent the day painting the baby's room and our pram was delivered, i haven't unboxed it yet though. Next on the list is the bedroom furniture, clothes washed, bags packed and baby items to come out of the loft. I'm 30 weeks so feel I have plenty of time yet.

Busylizzie85 · 21/04/2020 21:10

Just watched that life and birth programme on BBC 1 made me cry so much with all the little baby's!

Ginfilledcats · 21/04/2020 21:10

Wow you're all super organised! I am quite organised in that, my bag is mostly ready, just need to put an additional change of clothes in for me, wash the baby stuff and put that in, and am waiting for flip flops and dressing gown to be delivered. Oh and get snacks! The most important bit!

I've sorted out the chest of drawers too and folded all the clothes and bedding away (again not yet washed) as the coats and pram isn't up yet. But need to take the double bed down so we can put the stuff in her room properly.

Just a bit nervous about unboxing the cot and the snuzpod for some reason!!

Worried if I do it all now I'll be bored during my 2 weeks off before due date... hopefully like someone else says it will be less strict and I can visit people. Though mums working with covid patients so that's unlikely I'll see her!!

umabb · 21/04/2020 22:20

We've got a new chest of drawers stuffed with baby clothes and stuff but not washed any of them.. got snuzpod assembled and got the travel system ready but have no idea yet how to put the baby seat into the car... I've got a list to pack my hospital bag but not actually packed... 🤪

Got a sudden craving for fresh oysters and champagne tonight... just because I saw it on a tv programme .. have asked the husband to have that as the celebration of the birth however where can we get a hold of fresh oyster nowadays ?? 😑

32+2 today

Magpiefeather · 21/04/2020 22:27

I’m feeling much better after today. I hand washed the snuzpod fabric bits (been stored for 2.5 years since dd used it), washed more baby sheets, mattress protector etc and the snuzpod is now all up and ready. Clothes all washed and sorted. Car seat washed and put together, hospital bag mostly packed just a few bits still needed.

I feel much calmer now knowing that baby has somewhere to sleep and clothes to wear ready for him whenever he decides to come. His room is still not “done” but at least it’s organised. Blind doesn’t go up and down yet because I’ve not quite finished it, no storage yet so clothes are all in cardboard boxes. Pram and sling need handwashing. Have glider chair to recover. So still lots to keep me occupied but not the vital things! I can’t seem to hold back the nesting urge though. I think hormones coupled with covid 19 worries and also having stopped work much sooner than planned has had me itching to get everything sorted!

umabb · 21/04/2020 22:36

I was going to start mat leave from Jun 1st (due 14/15th) but messed up the dates with HR so it's now planned to start from my due date! Which is probably good - keep me occupied until the moment that baby wants to come out.... Wfh anyway so I guess should be able to handle ..

BabyBird20 · 22/04/2020 09:15

I'm so nervous this morning. Off to discover my results from the fetal MRI, so haven't slept at all. Fingers crossed the consultant will give me some realistic advice on birth options too. Wish me luck!! 😬🤞🏻

LillianFullStop · 22/04/2020 09:20

New SnuzPod mattress came I think we are all set as well! Well for baby anyway - still waiting on my granny pants order and deciding on reusing my old Medela breast pump or hiring a hospital grade one. Anyone have experience of exclusively pumping? I hated pumping last time and gave up the first month!

@umabb my mat leave is on 1-June too @ 39+2 - I figure since I am at home and not commuting I should be able to manage. Also as I am not a permanent employee I am essentially quitting my job so trying to earn money while I can.

Hope all goes well today @BabyBird20 - will they do an ultrasound as well so you can see the little one?

APD1981 · 22/04/2020 09:34

@Babybird20 best of luck today. Will be thinking of you. Please keep us updated x

I am so, so over these painful, uncomfortable, sleepless nights. I dread going to bed - in fact, I don't know why I bother. I had put to go on maternity leave on 2/6/20 (39+2) but the week before that is half term meaning my last actual day in work would've been 37+5 (so basically like annual leave for me). But if I were still at work now I'd be contemplating going in the next week or 2 from lack of sleep. I'm so fed up and in a right grump about it today 😭

@APD1981 my insomnia is back and also started struggling getting comfy in bed - not fun at all. My mat leave starts 15th may at 35 weeks thought it would be nice to have some time to myself baring in mind she could come from 37 weeks but now we can't do anything - joys

Gigitree · 22/04/2020 10:57

Good luck @BabyBird20 thinking of you!

The positive birth company are doing an unwind series on their YouTube channel. Featuring mediation, yoga, breath work etc. All lovely stuff to help people relax. I just did the yoga one from last night, had to skip a few parts due to my SPD, but overall it was lovely and relaxing.

Blizy · 22/04/2020 11:27

Tho king about your @BabyBird20

LillianFullStop · 22/04/2020 11:31

@APD1981 I'm not sleeping well and very uncomfortable lying down plus I've got terrible hay fever so am also dealing with a blocked nose. Then when I do get to sleep I get the urge to sneeze which wakes me up! Waking up feeling so tired and unrested. Not sure how this can go on 6 more weeks!!!! Last night I was standing by my bed and I was saying to DH it's more comfortable standing up and lying down at the moment!!
