Immac inshower removal is quite good too....

fiona76 · 19/09/2007 16:05

I once let my lovely hubby wax me and he put wax strip across my mons horizontally I had to have bath and shave! There was sticky wax evreywhere. He thought he still had a chance!!!

Mrswizz · 19/09/2007 16:21

I usually get a bikini wax before going on holiday but couldn't be bothered this time. Had a try myself with wax strips but to be honest, I couldn't see what I was doing. What the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't grieve over, probably looked like I was wearing a merkin. DH says he was very impressed at how relaxed I was on the beach, especially when he was wobbling my 'bingo legs' as he called them and I didn't care.

dundeemarmalade · 19/09/2007 17:14

okay, so this is probably a reflection of what a sheltered life i've led, but given that there seem to be some of us who know about these things, can i just ask- when you have a brazilian, do you have to take your knickers off? the possibility that one would have to has always put me off- what if i see the beautician in tesco! lordluvaduck i'd have to hide in the deep-freeze!

suey2 · 19/09/2007 18:05

dundeemarmalade they will usually give you the option of disposable paper pants which are like little g strings. I don't bother anymore, but it is quite handy to spare the old blushes initially. I would also go to a really good place first- the first time is painful and you want a good shape.
They do not, however, require you to go on all fours. I have to lift my legs up when they tidy around the back so to speak.

Hi all been busy DD birthday etc etc etc...
I have a regular Hollywood lovely nice and clean and tidy cannot stand a big bush....
Must say found it a LOT more painful when pregnant my usual beautician who has been doing mine for years says maybe best go to hot wax next time as less painful I usually just have normal wax much quicker...think will only be able to bear once more before D day...perhaps will do few weeks before birth so not completely bare don't want to embaress the midwife

i cannot tell you how much i have just laughed catching up on posts! thank goodness i already have an idea about each of you else i would now be questioning what i had got myself into!

lol only joking, i'm no better... i cant wax during pregnancy as i find it more painful so i have been getting DP to shave me cos i cant see a bloody thing!! we have a good giggle about it and i have had a few 'interesting' shapes, but he is getting pretty good at it i must say!

he also does my legs at present cos SPD prevents such simple things but i must admit i cant wait to go back to easier methods like waxes and creams... this shaving lark takes the biscuit... it needs doing so often! feel like a he-she most days!

macdoodle · 19/09/2007 21:49

oh and just back to that bizarre maths thing you were talking about over my head not in research - more medical any more guesses

macdoodle · 19/09/2007 22:28

ooohhh heartburn finally bloody sickness goes away and now bloody heartburn is starting dying here terrified to lie down

becklespeckle · 20/09/2007 01:06

Ouch! All this talk of waxing! I confess I am a shaver and I just sort of trim it all up to keep it tidy. I can't see what I am doing anymore so am just guessing - dread to think what shape it is all in at the moment! Thankfully legs rarely need doing as the hair on them seems to have stopped growing since I have been pg.
Mixedmama - so glad you are okay! Make sure you try and take it easy if you can. Receptionist from home does sound like a great job but trust me, its a pain! I took it on thinking it would fit in with children etc but in fact some days it takes up all my time. For example yesterday I was on the phone constantly from about 9.30 until 12.40 when I took DS2 to nursery, I felt awful as he was left to entertain himself all morning. I will be glad to give it up to be honest and spend a bit of time with the boys.
Lizzer - sounds like you are having a stressful time at the moment hun, hopefully house will be sorted soon and then it will be all worth it. How is DD?
NBG, poor you, that kind of thing shakes you up a bit doesn't it? Glad you are all okay but just try and rest a bit more if you can (I know that is hard when you have other - very small - children.)
MrsWhizz - glad you had a good holiday, ut sorry to hear you are in the wars too.! My ankles get swollen too, have not been able to wear any socks other than those trainer sock things for ages. They dig right in!

Bouncingturtle · 20/09/2007 09:03

I shall get DH to prune my lady garden it is somewhat overgrown
Saw 6day old baby (my friend's) he is sooooo gorgeous.... ah well only 13 and a half weeks til I get mine

Mrswizz · 20/09/2007 09:34

PEANUTS!!! We can eat peanuts! Peanutbutter, Snickers, Topic, Satay sauce. Its good to eat peanuts!! Your baby will thank you - they changed the rules.

insywinsyspider · 20/09/2007 09:48

hurray for peanuts! I've been sneakly eating peanutbutter spread so can now feel relieved that its ok

as for waxing/triming - completely given up, will have a trim down then just before as was very good for keeping things cleaner afterwards, I hate sanitary towels with a passion and the bleeding during last years heat wave was truely horrible, at least its winter this time
suey - I wouldn't be brave enough to strip off for wax I go for the disposable pants ever since by GP informed me things weren't 'cosmetically' right down there at my 6 wk post natal check once I've decided I've had all my children I'm going to get it 'fixed'

so 4 days holiday left before mat leave.... go to 3 days a week for Nov or finish a week early??

and don't forget the pelvic floor ladies

Lizzer · 20/09/2007 10:28

NO WaY!!! Peanut freedom! Where did you see that MrsWizz? (Glad you had lovely hols but BE CAREFUL with all your tumbling about will you?!!) And congratulations on your maternity ring

Thanks so much for all your lovely messages, they really cheered me up this morning and I'm feeling more positive about the house move now. Just needed to get it off my chest and you guys are amazing for that. I our thread Suey2, that sounds like a good plan about a buy it later list, we do need such a lot as dd is 7 now I haven't kept a thing apart from her crib..

To anyone who's buying a bugaboo, have you been told there aren't any for 5 weeks? I was told this by our local pram shop but I'm doubting it a lot

Beckle, yes dd is ok, thankyou for asking, For those who are interested, its not foot and mouth, its HAND, foot and mouth-a completely different thing ("THough dp joked that we might have to have her culled !!) Its a common childhood virus and she's got blisters on her hands, feet and ulcers in mouth and sore throat. I was worried as |i thought that it might be one of 'those' virus' that you have to be tested for but apparently its ok in pg - which is good and tbh, knowing I have to take it easy and stay in with her is actually quite nice!! YEs, mrsSkidaddle, I will be getting dp to do a lot of the hard work

BTW I'm so so impressed with the lady garden trimmers among you

Lizzer · 20/09/2007 10:32

OH Nbg, I'm so sorry for you AS everyone has said you HAVE to take it easy nd get checked out. I hope you are keeping well with regular carb filled snacks and lots of water, you really have to look after yourself, lots of love

becklespeckle · 20/09/2007 10:38

Where does it say we can eat peanuts??? I am desparate for peanutbutter on toast but have been avoiding it due to asthma/excema etc in family.

Mrswizz · 20/09/2007 10:42

Lizzer - the peanut thing was on GMTV this morning. Doctors say that now they've noticed that people in countries who don't advise against eating peanuts during pregnancy have a lesser rate of peanut allergy. They think that eating peanuts whilst pg allows a tolerance to build up. I think this sounds logical, and have always thought it but took docs advice anyway.

suey2 · 20/09/2007 10:58

excellent! tucking into a ferrero rocher as we speak. May even have peanut butter on toast for dinner!

Lizzer · 20/09/2007 11:01

Thank God a bit of common sense for pg women at last!! Now eagerly awaiting news that a glass of wine with dinner won't give your child FAS either

becklespeckle · 20/09/2007 11:07

Hmmm peanutbutter......
Was so distracted by the thought of it that I spelt desperate wrong - and I put it in bold...

becklespeckle · 20/09/2007 11:07
Blush
suey2 · 20/09/2007 11:10

Ha! I reckon i must have FASD. Mum had a bottle of stout every evening with dinner when she was carrying me and my 3 bros. I still limit myself to 2 glasses per week, though.

Morning ladies! Question of the day from me is (hopefully) much more straightforward than the last one . I've been given a car seat that you just strap in with the seatbelt - is that ok or do you need one of these base unit things?

And Suey2 sorry if this isn't really your area but have a stab anyway! I sometimes get ear ache at night which is I think because I end up with no pillow under my neck (i.e. the feathers all end up at the top of my pillow and my neck becomes a bridge). Would that cause ear ache? And should I go for a bigger or smaller pillow do you reckon? I am currently using a thin synthetic one with a feather one on top.

insywinsyspider · 20/09/2007 11:28

mimicakey - seat belt one is fine, we were given one last time and it was ok but a base apparently is a load easier if you travel by car a lot. All seats can be fitted with a seat belt so they can be switched between cars - also the safest place is to have baby in the seat behind the passenger seat
