Caz10 - I was going to pop along to tescos tomorrow to get the basket but knowing my luck they wont stock them!
I have mentioned arnica before, I was unsure what potency to get but it seems that getting either 30c or 200c is fine, I took 30c last time but think I'll get the higher one this time (for anyone who's interested you can get this from www.helios.co.uk). I'm still searching for witch hazel as recommended by someone else (sorry can't remember who!).

Hope you're ok Mixedmama.

insywinsyspider · 18/09/2007 21:58

a bit concerned now for mixedmama... hope you're ok x

Caz10 · 18/09/2007 22:46

Oh have just read mixedmama's thread - eeek. Maybe she has just gone for a nice early night to relax and feel better...fingers crossed.

littleoldme · 19/09/2007 00:40

www.acpwh.org.uk/docs/ACPWH-PGP_Pat.pdf
I was in agony with mine for about 10 weeks. Now it's virually gone - so panic not, there is hope

I look forward to lots of chatting with you all.

Bouncingturtle · 19/09/2007 07:18

Hello!

Littleoldme- thanks for poisting the link, lots of the ladies here will find it very useful!

I take it Mixedmama went to the docs? I don't blame her, sounded awful, no wonder she was worried! Hopefully it isn't anything serious.

Went to see Knocked up last night it was pretty good! Birth scene was more graphic than I thought it would be, which was impressive!

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 07:49

Morning ladies,

Thanks for all your messages, but all is well and good.

Got told to go into the labour ward incase it was early labour. Felt a bit of a muppet as the pains were so much more infrequent yesterday and not as painful. Anyway was there from about 4.30 and left at 9.45. I now understand why no one wants to be strapped to that monitor when in labour as it is awful with contractions, just cant bloody move.

They came and did a massively uncomfortable internal exam aka a smear really. Not nice, four people standing at the end of the bed bent down staring into me, very strange.

Conclusion in notes is:

? Unspecified pain
? Braxton Hicks

No urine infection or anything like that.

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 07:57

Now to catch up:

Kerioke - not sure on any methods to make labour shorter but maybe to make it more manageable, well this is what i am hoping to do:

  • stay at home as long as possible, baths etc.
  • use TENS when at hospital to focus on soemthing (like pressing a button )
  • move onto the pool, enjoy floating.

Am trying to create stages for myself so each one is a step closer IYSWIM - prob will be complete tosh on the day but makes me feel better having a plan.

Insy - yep baby low too. sometimes i think a leg might just pop out

Suey - I had the GTT test twice last time but both times ended up coming back negative. It is a bit of a hassle tho. i have to be tested this time as well as I have diabetes in my family from a young age but apparently they are just doing a heel prick / finger prick test instead. that Lucozade stuff they give you is disgusting tho and they try to make you drink it so quickly. Try not to worry - again easier said.

I watch all the soaps as well, not religiously or anything but if i am at home i watch them. Nah, dont think Bethany will die, just the climax to David I think. Oh God Hollyoaks - we seem to "unintentionally" watch it on sundays whilst lounging around.

Beckle - intrigued about work from home receptionist job, tell me more - that sounds great.

thelady - that sounds liek the perfect way to clean the bits to me.

Welcome to Clairybee and morning to everyone else and hope I havent missed anywone.

MotherofZ · 19/09/2007 08:00

Morning all!
MM - Good to know it was nothing serious, maybe it's you need to just have a bit of a rest and put your feet up hun.

Completely agree with you about hospitals - only want to go if necessary otherwise you spend ages waiting to be seen.

Take care
xx

MRSskidaddle · 19/09/2007 08:08

Glad to hear you're OK MM - what a nightmare being there for so long and you're right about that bloody monitoring strap - I had in on through the first half of labour with dd (can't even remember why) and i felt like ripping it off and stuffing it down the m/w's throat!

Are you tummy troubles better now? Do you think that could have been the problem?

Is anyone still doing their sucking their tummy in exercises? I keep forgetting... maybe we should start up that SUCH THEM IN thig at the beginning of every message...

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 08:15

I know nothing about any sucking tummies in exercises... dont think i could even if i wanted to.

did feel really stupid when they asked why i hadnt come in the previous night when the pains had been at their worse and honestly had no answer. but at least i have peace of mind now. still getting the pains but less so, so i guess just putting them down to braxton hicks now.

MotherofZ · 19/09/2007 08:17

and pelvic floor ladies...!!!

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 08:22

Oh yes pelvic floors....

kerioke · 19/09/2007 09:02

mixed mam - so glad you are well! i was really worried last night and kept popping on to see if you had posted.. even told DP about you! he was just as concerned as the rest of us, though he did mention something about 'hope you're not planning a visit to her hospital... the fuel costs would be ridiculous!' lol i have a feeling he thinks i intend to travel round 30 - 40 hospitals whilst heavily preg or with a newborn to meet, greet n congrat you all! if only it was that easy!

thanks everyone for the advice about helping myself a little during labour.. i think i will buy raspberry leaf tea when 38 wks (though i havent made 38 weeks in any pregnancy yet!) to regulate uterus and lots of other tips that have been mentioned.

feeling quite crampy again today in my tummy, am sure its a conbo of stretching and BH's but cant help see it as a 'niggle' of suspition... though now i have actually mentioned it i am sure it will die down and turn to nothing! lets hope so anyone... far to early for any dec babies yet.

hello to the new ladies and hope everyonbe has a good day... taking little man to mother and toddlers today so wont be around.

MotherofZ · 19/09/2007 09:06

agree with you about the raspberry leaf tea - really want to haev this baby before Xams if poss!!!

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 09:07

Ahhh thanks Kerioke. Very funny image of you travelling around the country visiting us all.

Pains could be similar to what i was having... seems that braxton hicks is the consensus, but they do feel odd.

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 09:08

MotherofZ - why before Xmas? Is the NY not good enough for you

MotherofZ · 19/09/2007 09:13

So DH can spend longer at home with me! He's got the whole Xmas week off, so it will be nice to have the baby by then, plus his 2 weeks paternity leave, which make it three weeks in total. If I have LO on due date he'll only have about 2 weeks at home with me.

LOL at speculating about when LO will arrive - knowing my luck I'll be 2 weeks over due....

suey2 · 19/09/2007 09:17

I guess the one advantage if i do have gestational diabetes is that they are unlikely to let me go over. I quite fancy a spontaneous labour at 38 weeks, though. (that would be around 22nd november)

OP posts:
mixedmama · 19/09/2007 09:19

That makes sense - I forgive you for wanting the baby a teeny bit earlier then.

i want to enjoy Xmas with my family and relax and want baby to arrive bang on time NYE.... wanting a bit much really

insywinsyspider · 19/09/2007 09:19

motherofz - I want this baby before xmas too! it would be lovely to show lo off when all the family are visiting, think I'll be pretty fed up if I'm having my xmas dinner still pg but then ds was a week early so am probably basing everything off that!
when can you start the raspberry leaf tea?

MM - glad to hear you're doing ok, kerioke - I told dh about it too! he thinks its mad how we can feel that the annoyous people are our friends

clairybee - bum on pillow last night shifted baby to more comfortable position so I could sleep (had to do it quick before dh came to bed and caught me )

MRSskiddale - whats sucking your stomach in about? and yes just done some quick pelvic floor - are you meant to be able to hold it for a few seconds, I still can't do that..

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 09:21

suey - just read you GD thread. didnt realise youhad already had the lucozade one.... as the other posters said at least youhave found out early so you can get your head around any changes you may need to make to the way you would like the birth to go.

MotherofZ · 19/09/2007 09:32

I still remember the exhustion when DD was born, so it will be nice to have DH around a little longer this time around.

I think you can have raspberry leaf tea from 37 weeks, but someone below mentioned the tablets are more effective.

Louise76 · 19/09/2007 09:32

Hello ladies, I have to confess that I don't post much but do try to read this thread from time to time. I'm sorry I can't remember who posted the link for the Hauck glider chair on kiddicare.com but just wanted to say thank you to whoever it was as I decided to order one. It arrived yesterday and was easy to assemble (well, easy for hubby to assemble!) It looks lovely and is really comfy. Really good value for £79.99 and you also get a set of blinds for your car windows free. If you are thinking of getting a chair for your nursery but don't want to spend too much I would recommend it.

Lizzer · 19/09/2007 09:40

Hello everyone, feel I haven't been on here for ages. I've been catching up with all your news though and there's so much of it!

The reason i haven't been on is because of the house we have just bought. Luckily we don't have to move in for 6 weeks (staying in rented) and dp (plus about 7 others) are doing it up and I mean TOTALLY rennovating it. We are having slepless nights worrying about it all and I've never felt such stress in all my life (hopefully this poor baby inside me won't be feeling it too ) Its quite scary how in 6 weeks the re-wiring, re-rendering, new roof, new bathroom, new kitchen, damp proofing and replastering of every wall needs to be done, nevermind the carpets, flooring and decorating... ITs basically a shell!! I keep repeating the mantra 'it'll all be fine' but some days I doubt it!!

To top it all off dd is now off school with hand, foot and mouth disease (cue me taking unpaid time off work) and I can't really leave the house or do anything- waaail!!

Anyone else feel they haven't really got time to have a baby in 11 weeks??!!!!!! And as for buying anything, I've managed a v shape cushion so far and a huuuuge comfy pair of pj's for me....

Anyway enough of me whinging, I'm glad you're alright MM and evryone else for that matter, also glad that some of you are getting twinges and that its normal from now on, Ireally can't remember this stage pg with dd.

Someone (sorry can't locate) mentioned about having a 80% viable baby now, I find that stat reassuring but oh-so-scary at the same time..

Oh and note-to-self - Must do pelvic floor

insywinsyspider · 19/09/2007 09:43

Its going to be too much of a financial impact for dh to take all of his paternity leave in one go so if I have the baby before xmas then he'll be on hols to help out and prob take a few days off a month to help out at least that way we won't half his salary over xmas when we tend to spend loads - haven't been very good at saving for xams this year
