New thread for us all to keep in touch. Think we're all nearing the end of the first trimester or dipping our toes into the second ... how far we've come since the days of agonising over stims!

@Lily999 I know! Im so grateful for this pregnancy every day.. I can't even begin to imagine being stuck with cancelled cycle during the lockdown. Ours was in Czech as well so no clue when we would had been able to start again. My heart really goes to all the people who wait for the IVF clinics to reopen.

Wimbledon1 · 04/07/2020 12:52

Oh yes, I have been thinking about these people too. I have a friend who started her third round shortly after my first. Hers didn't work again so telling her mine had was bad (although obviously she was lovely about it). And then her fourth round got cancelled indefinitely. It's such a cruel lottery isn't it. And we are so lucky!! 🍀

Loving the puppy content @DobbieFreeElf!! What breed is she/he?

I'm also looking forward to a Mamas and Papas trip as there is a huge one near us. Although agree on cost grounds I'd have preferred to do most in mothercare.

Our new car is an 18 month old Volkswagen - the model is called a T Roc and it's basically the mini. SUV version of a VW Golf. Absolute nailed in middle aged family car, we even got it in dark grey! 😂

Also I've bought the digital pack if the positive birthing company. It came highly recommended from a few friends and for £39 thought; why not. Especially since our NCT finishes in mid August and I won't be having the baby until mid October. Can do a September refresher!

I'm going to do it too @Wimbledon1 - seems really good value. No NCT in our local area anyway so feel like I need something! Friends also recommended Daisy Foundation classes too.

@Chooklass @Wimbledon1 I’ve also bought the digital pack and book this week. Came recommended by a good friend, looking forward to giving it a go! I figure you take what you want from these things and anything that will help to keep me calm when the time comes sounds good to me.

DobbieFreeElf · 05/07/2020 13:03

That’s a very grown up car @Wimbledon1! Funny when you look at the expense of having a child you don’t realise the cost regularly includes a new car! DS cost us £20k for a new car before he even arrived!

She’s a Labrador, mum’s blonde and dad was fox red. We’ve just been to meet the breeder, mum and pups and the bitch was just awesome, a lovely small lab who played with DS whilst we cuddled the puppies! We’ve picked our girly (photo) she’s the smallest and also was quiet compared to the others ( it that you can really tell how they’ll end up)! Can’t wait to get her home!

Aww she's gorgeous!! How lovely. Bet DS will be over the moon with her.

This is probably a question for you too sorry @DobbieFreeElf with the recent experience here....if you got a nursing chair, does it help if it rocks or does that not really matter? I have two I like but one rocks and the other (which we like slightly more) doesn't. Not sure how much this matters or if you really want the movement while feeding?

DobbieFreeElf · 06/07/2020 08:50

That’s ok @Wimbledon1, I just had a comfy armchair, not a specific nursing chair but I would personally go for one that’s static. I would probably find the rocking one quite annoying unless you can change it between rocking and not rocking? I had a friend who said she spent a small fortune on a rocking one and she hated it. Obviously personal preference. Most importantly that you can get up from it easily without disturbing a sleeping baby!!

If anyone is looking for a slightly extravagant rocker, my aunt bought me a mamaRoo for DS and it was pretty awesome, not essential but definitely a nice to have!

Viletta · 07/07/2020 09:17

I've got the hippy birthing pack from positive birth company, it was great!

Watched Motherland with DH yesterday, we had a good laugh! It's a UK show about motherhood, much funnier and relatable than Working Mums.

Also in need of a new car sometime soon!

Chooklass · 07/07/2020 12:13

I loved Motherland @Viletta ! So funny!

Lily999 · 08/07/2020 11:13

@Chooklass and @Viletta thanks for the tip, started watching Motherland and I am loving it so much! I knew the main actress from The Bletchley Circle, she was great there too.

Had the same question about the chair as I have been reading reviews and apparently even the pricier ones squeak plus our nursery will be upstairs so was a bit reluctant about the rocking function.. Thanks @DobbieFreeElf!

I think my next anxiety is kicking in a bit too soon... I am 25weeks today so yeyy, viability is behind us now, however as we do I again, have found something to worry about. :) I feel that movements are here, definitely happening, but they have not been getting significantly stronger over the last few weeks. I thought by week 25 they will be borderline painful and I am worried what if he is not getting stronger? I know it sounds crazy and very silly as I can feel him move, why can't I just enjoy the nice gentle kicks?

Chooklass · 08/07/2020 11:23

I've been anxious about movements too @Lily999 - knew I would be! I'm just not sure of a pattern yet, which I know is more difficult with anterior placenta, but I'm just so unsure what is ok or not! Got next mw appointment in 2 weeks so not far away.

Anyone watched 'The Secret She Keeps' last two nights? It's a gripping drama so far, but I got the rage at why infertile women always seem to be portrayed as miserable or mad?

DobbieFreeElf · 08/07/2020 11:24

Hey @Lily999, I’m going to say that movements are never painful but they maybe become less comfortable as they run out of space (but I’m talking the last few weeks) and purely dependent on which way round they are. At this stage there is still quite a lot of room for them to move around/ change position and they still have a fairly big cushion of fluid around them (as was pointed out to me on the scan following my accident last week). I don’t think I would say that the movements got stronger more tat they were closer to the surface and had less space to move! As long as they are moving regularly and according to their own pattern then no need to worry! I had a worry yesterday morning as mine is usually super active first thing and quiet in the evening and I’d had nothing in the morning but it made up for it yesterday evening! I think it just had a lie in! Kicks are no stronger now just maybe more noticeable if you know what I mean!

Viletta · 08/07/2020 12:00

@Lily999 I have more kicks throughout the day but wouldn't say they are stronger, I think I'm used to them now so I do t really notice them unless I pay attention. Sometimes I hardly feel them from the inside but feel them from the outside.. so weird. He doesn't kick violently anymore. In terms or patterns definitely active at night and I feel most kicks at 1-2am if I'm not sleeping. I've got my appointment on Friday and will ask more about the kicks as I don't really know what's normal what's not. I do feel him move everyday though which I guess what I need to be aware of. Sometimes it feels like bowl movement but in the place baby is.. more various sensations. I'm anterior placenta as well.

Lily999 · 08/07/2020 13:06

Ah thank you @Chooklass, @DobbieFreeElf and @Viletta that's such a big relief! So as long as kicks are still there I should focus on that rather than the strength of them.

Any advices on prams ladies? We are thinking about getting the Nuna Demi Grow, but feeling so overwhelmed by the wide selection and so many choices. We are both tall so what we are looking for is a sturdy structure that can go on forest paths so preferably strong wheels. Any advice is welcome. :) Thank you!

justkeeprunning5 · 08/07/2020 13:51

Hi @Lily999 I have a high anterior here Andy movements are all very low down. They are getting more frequent but I wouldn’t say any stronger. Mine moves most at night when I’m settled in bed and in the mornings plus the odd kick throughout the day when I’m sitting & concentrating on the baby!

Re buggies, we have gone for a M&P Ocarro. Someone told me to be very mindful of the basket size and wheels depending on what you will be using it for. Think Which have a good comparison tool. We wanted to make sure it fit folded into a space in the hallway and it looks to be very compact.

We are going to look at furniture & next to me crib’s (In person!) this weekend, which is exciting.

DobbieFreeElf · 08/07/2020 15:40

😊 No problem @Lily999

We have a cosatto ooba, specifically because we are outdoors a lot and it is very sturdy! I love the cosatto patterns and they have a really amazing warranty 😊

FlapJackered · 08/07/2020 17:16

@Lily999 we have got the uppababy vista travel system as we are also always walking in the countryside and live next to a woodland and apparently it is a good sturdy off roading one. Not cheap though! 😬 We are getting almost everything else for free though so thought we would splurge on the pram! I recommend going to a pram shop or John Lewis as they can tell you the best ones for your situation.

I am with you all on movements, they are varying day to day and I think also with how busy I am noticing them. I am just going with as long as I feel some movements all is ok. 🤞

One of my friends' first IVF cycle just failed. They are heartbroken and I feel so terrible for them and guilty. Does anyone else get that niggling feeling of guilt that it worked? I feel so lucky and so sad for them. 😢

justkeeprunning5 · 08/07/2020 20:03

@FlapJackered that’s such a shame about your friends. Our first cycle failed last year and I was a mess for a while, it took a good few months for the cloud to lift.

I have guilt that it worked second time, I know some people who took 10+ transfers with a few miscarriage along the way and feel guilty when they ask and I said it worked for us second time. As you say it makes you feel very fortunate.

Viletta · 09/07/2020 00:30

I don't feel guilt that mine worked, I hoped it would worked first time. I hoped I wouldn't need IVF at all. Mine worked after 4 transfers. We are very lucky!

Viletta · 09/07/2020 00:34

I wanted to go for cybex Priam or bugaboo Fox but found out that a friend can give me Mothercare orb for free which I'm happily accepting. If I spend ££££ on a pram I would definitely want a second baby to make sure I use it 😂😂 I think it's best to go to shops and test prams for yourself. A lot depends on how and where you are going to use it. Otherwise I found YouTube comparisons quite useful

Viletta · 09/07/2020 00:35

The guilt message I meant we deserve to be happy and to have these babies after all we've gone through. No need to be guilty.

Viletta · 09/07/2020 00:40

I got a pregnancy inflatable ball it's great! Really comfy to sit on when I work and I've tried some pregnancy exercises on it. Loving it!

Do you know how much weight you've gained so far? I'm almost at 10kg already.... whooooops
