Am 27(for a week more at least!- and then I'm going backwards!)Teach at secondary school and finding it funny to be tough when bean wriggling is making me giggle!

Have just done list again as my due date is a bit later and didn't know how else to do it!

Am sure it is another boy but everyone who I mention my sickness to seems to think I am having a girl! I am humungous as well and look as though I am about to drop already. Will try and write more as have finished my Masters dissertation, yippeee!!

hi Awen, sorry to hear you've been ill! I can very much relate to the hangover feeling though. I had to travel to the US recently and between the jetlag/tiredness and the reflux I've been having I felt exactly as though I'd been out on the tiles in a big way the night before.

In fact, I kept saying to myself - that's it, I'm never drinking again - as you do... only to remember that it's been months since I've had more than two drinks together!

Not fair at all.

Hope everyone is having a lovely relaxing Sunday. I started mine with a long sleep in (because I still can!). I am currently lamenting the fact that after two pieces of toast I feel completely and uncomfortably full and can't eat another bite. Probably not a bad thing in the long run tho ;)

MamaMaiasaura · 16/09/2007 11:55

mum2sons - I had loads of people say this pudding was a girl.. is def a boy tho Have changed name options now i think. Most likely will be Samuel! What do you all think (be honest!) Sorry you are still getting ms I am lucky i think mine was a bug. Not sure how anyone copes with the hyperthingy throughout. Am feeling tired tho, midwife told me that the blooming bit might not happen as each preg is a harder strain on the body ...

Sabinar - enjoy those lie ins My ds is an early riser although he isnt with me this weekend we have lots of house stuff to do! Poor you with jetlag

MamaMaiasaura · 16/09/2007 11:56

opps - Mum2sons CONGRATUALTIONS on your dissertation! must be a huge relief to have it done nowx Finished my course last October so understand the stress of studying!

fluffymummy · 16/09/2007 23:16

Hi all...not had a chance to catch up on the last 5 days yet (and it's possible I never will, as I have 2 weeks of hell coming up at work , followed by a week in Italy! ), so the best I'm going to be able to do is pop in occasionally...but just wanted to say 'hi' to everyone and also remind gingeme that I can't make it on 20th as I'll be in Manchester ...sorry, but maybe we can do another one in late October?
Love to all...sorry for being a pants correspondent!!
FM xx

mixedmama · 17/09/2007 08:38

Morning everyone,

Awen - glad you are on the mend.

Mum2Sons - congrats on the dissertation.

Had a pretty uneventful weekend, but have finally booked tickets for a concert that i want to go to in october - it is at the Royal Albert Hall so very excited.

Re: Sickness, i still get sick and it is horrible, so pretty sure there will be no blooming for me this time.

Naetha · 17/09/2007 09:18

Morning all - sorry to hear you've been so sick Awen - lets hope you're on the mend now

Is anyone else starting to feel a bit down about it all at the moment? I've been really excited up to this point, but although both my head and my heart is still looking forwards to it, I can't help but mourn what I'm going to be losing. I know it sounds facetious to moan about not being able to laze around on a Sunday and achieve nothing, but I'm really going to miss it, and although I'm sure the way my life will change will be good, I can't help but feel anxious about how things will pan out. I guess I don't quite feel ready to have a baby yet - I still want to play computer games for 6 hours, can't be bothered cleaning the house, want to order a takeaway because I'm not in the mood for the good food in the fridge. I still feel like a lazy ass student rather than an adult that's about to have a child!

Please tell me I'm not the only one going through this, and for people on their second + babies, that it wasn't as bad as I think it might be!

Apologies for whingeing, just feel a bit bleh at the moment

MotherofZ · 17/09/2007 10:12

I was like that first time around - used to worry about the change in lifesytle. The main thing for you to do is to enjoy the time that you have now and make the most of doing the things you like. It will be harder when the LO arrives, especially the first 6 weeks - when DD arrived, nobody had told me that babies feed for about 45 mins and need feeding every 2-3 hours - I was in complete shock about that! But after that DD sttled into a routine and things began to ease up. What I'm trying to say is that your life will change, but you will adjust and you will find greater pleasure with with your baby than playing on the computer.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 17/09/2007 10:18

I second that. I am quite lucky in that I have my family around me so can still do all the things I want to, altho to be honest other than a trip to the cinema or going out for a nice meal there isnt that much I want to do anymore... would rather be at home. It will certainly take some gettin used to and be prepared for it to take some time, but you will find ways to do things in time.

mum2sons · 17/09/2007 10:30

Hi Naetha,

I think it is quite normal to feel how you are feeling. It is a massive change and also fear of the unknown. First time around, my pregnancy was a suprise and in quite a turbulant relationship. I was only 23 and planned to travel and had a good social life. None of my friends had children. It was massively scary. However I dont regret a thing looking back.

I have still done so much with my life and although life does change and your priorities change, it is only one day at a time. I would look at things on a daily rather than yearly type thing if that makes sense? If you look at 18 years of responsibility ahead it is so enormous but little steps are easier to cope with.

For the record, I am feeling quite terrified about being a mum of 3. I love my boys but am not a very good mother (in the terms of what i traditionally think is good: ie baking cakes, gluing, ironing and cooking family meals! In fact I have never ironed in my life and my DS1 irons his own clothes!)

We are all different, you will still be able to do the things you like and YOu dont have to change your personality or your aspirations. Motherhood can in fact make a person more ambitious and stronger IMHO and you dont have to stop being lazy . I am a very lazy mother and used to pretend to DS1 that a wolf was coming up the stairs so he would sleep just a bit longer in my bed so I could sleep a bit longer too .

mixedmama · 17/09/2007 10:32

I have to say motherhood has bought out qualities in me that i didnt know existing - in terms of the doimesticated thing. When i had my week off i felt like a proper little house wife and strangely quite enjoyed it and never ever thought that i would .

MotherofZ · 17/09/2007 10:34

Forgot to mention that once you have adjusted you can still to the things you enjoy - when DD is alseep, I love getting in a fabulously unhealthly takeaway and watching my favourite programme or having a nice long hot soak and reading some mind-numbing chick flick.

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 17/09/2007 10:38

oh MM - I've become really domesticated aswell lately!! Been cooking loads (usually only cook when needed) i.e cakes, savouries, trying out new meals and desserts - hubby is loving it! I've made so much extra - been sending food to inlaws too.

Also been really onto of housework and developed this obsession with keeping the upstairs hallway spotlessly clean!

OP posts:
fluffymummy · 17/09/2007 10:40

Naetha - I think its completely normal, and probably quite healthy in a way to be thinking about some of the things you're going to 'lose' as well as the good stuff....because it really isn't all fluffy and fantastic, especially the first 6-8 weeks. In fact the first 2 months are pretty rough - we were lucky as lots of good friends had been having babies just ahead of us so we'd had some honest feedback about how hard it can be, and it's definitely good to be warned!

In fact, we're going through the same thing second time around as well....DS is now 2, so everything is so much easier: we have lovely long family day trips out, go to restaurants and eat proper meals together, sleep until about 8/8.30am...

But it is all worth it!!!

MrsMcJnr · 17/09/2007 10:45

Hey ladies I hope you all had a good weekend I went bra shopping (bliss ? I am so comfy now ) and looked at even more buggies ? groan!

Naetha ? hope your tummy is ok! Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low I think that our lives are going to change dramatically and that if the rest of us haven?t thought about it the way you have, we are in for a shock! That said, I really think I am ready for a change but I am sure it?ll still be a huge shock!

Fruitful - congratulations on a good scan and on a blue bean (that takes that our stats to 7 boys and 4 girls and as far as I can tell 52 surprises!) sorry to hear that you have placenta previa ? do they do the CS really early? I thought you were due on 30/1.

Hey Awen ? poor you that sickness sounded horrible, I hope you are feeling much better. DH and I have spent the last 2 weekends looking at buggies! It?s a minefield isn?t it? ? we really like the bugaboo, seems to tick all of our boxes but we don?t really want to spend that much, we have tried to keep an open mind but we ruled out the Quinny Buzz this weekend because I just couldn?t fit the safety catch when it was folded I actually got really upset and felt such a woose, I think I am quite strong but just couldn?t do it so thought there was just no point in getting that one. It weighs more than the bugaboo and doesn?t fold as small. We are yet to look at the Jane and the I-Candy, we shall see!

Welcome LouisaB you are due on the same day as me, Barristermum, Molly65, Sillysausages and GemTubbs I?m can?t remember about Molly65 or SillySausages but the rest of us on that date are all first timers.

Angechica · 17/09/2007 11:33

Hi Naetha

As below I was feeling down and odd about things last week as well!

Have spent last 2 weekends in company of friends with babies and small children and having seen friends bringing up kids who are now getting to be school age etc I think the thing to accept is that babies are totally dependent and that is a scary prospect, but they won't be so dependent for ever. Caring for them through the dependent stage and then helping them achieve independence and having a lot of fun along the way is the reward (sorry to be so cheesy).

Could you "borrow" a friend's baby to look after, perhaps, because it might lessen the fear of the unknown?

Bettymamma · 17/09/2007 12:10

Morning ladies - haven't been about for a while. Hope you are all well. Am trying to catch up but difficult -we chat so much and busy day at work.

Read Naetha's post this morning and I totally agree with everyone's response. I thinks its natural to feel like that but i promise you will be totally overwhelmed at how much love you will feel for your own LO (it might not come automatically at first sight but it will!). Even though the first 6 weeks can be hellish it's all worth it and it gets easier and more rewarding as their little personalities develop.

I hope that helps!x

Bettymamma · 17/09/2007 12:15

Sorry to hear you're feeling ill as well Awen. Hope you are well on the mend before dp heads off to Japan.

MrsMcJnr - have always taken a fancy to the bugaboo but one of my friends said it was quite difficult to manouvre. Wouldn't know myself but I guess you had a push around the shop! They do come in some great colours though. I have a Phil & Ted's double buggy bought off ebay. Its fabulous and DD already likes to ride in it with dolly in the front!

MamaMaiasaura · 17/09/2007 12:37

wow, what a busy monday Am feeling much better thank you. Just scoffed croissants with melted cheese and ham so def better

Naetha - totally agree with other responses - totally normal to have the feeling you are having. Even with no2 here it will mean lots of changes for us. Ds at 7 is growing in independence, is good conversation (well as much as a 7 yer old boy can be! ) and he has a good understanding of why sleep is soooo good and staying awake all night isnt! lol

When i tried the bugaboo today in the shop the lady explained it feels awkward with the big wheels at the front because they dont swivel (for cross country) and for normal day to day have the little ones at the front.

MrsMcJnr · 17/09/2007 12:54

Awen we are hoping we are going to need the wheels in beach mode alot when we move to Spain!
