mrssunshinexxx · 18/03/2020 10:00

@Magpiefeather I would like a Motorola one but not the new one with WiFi do you know which model you have as it sounds like the one I would like x

Missgemini · 18/03/2020 10:16

@newbyxx sorry to hear about your issue with work. I don't know about your hospital, in terms of how Covid patients are separated.
In my hospital, anyone that is even slightly suspicious for coronavirus, goes under the respiratory and ID team. Therefore, the elderly ward is a safe place to be. But, of course, to go to work, you have to take the train and walk through hospital corridors and the public to get there. Some people are still openly coughing in public without covering their mouths!
My advice is to push for whatever will give you peace of mind. Maybe ask for a more admin role if at all possible. Sadly, with the NHS, they are absolutely desperate for staff. They will do whatever it takes to keep you. I'm only home because one consultant insisted. The others were trying to get me to continue to come in by all means.
Worst case scenario, your GP might consider signing you off for anxiety if you're not coping with all this.
Good luck x

Hi all, I hope you're doing OK and staying well. Just found this thread and I'm so glad there is a virtual community out there as I can no longer see my physical one! I'm 28 weeks and am going back to my parents because Corona Virus has delayed my house move indefinitely. At least I've got mum's cooking to look forward to. x

Zoey92 · 18/03/2020 10:20

I am getting so stressed out with literally everything!
Work (run a salon on my own)
And everytime i decide on a travel system the bugger is sold out!
My OH seems very laid back about the whole thing & its starting to really pee me off.
& this virus well....iya juat something new announced everyday! Maybe my hormones are getting a little crazy 😂

Blizy · 18/03/2020 10:33

Hope everyone is doing ok. I think pretty much sorted with baby stuff for now. I do need more Muslins and bibs though (ds has reflux so getting prepared!) I'm not buying a pram until baby is home though, it's a big expense and we could do with the extra cash incase dh work drys up. I have a sling and a pushchair that was ds's if I'm stuck!

Liveforholidays · 18/03/2020 12:20

I have all my stuff up in the loft from my son. Need to get cheap baby grows, muslins by the bucket load, dummies and new bottles but everything else am going to reuse. Also need to stock up on stuff for me... Cheap knickers, breast pads, sanitary towels (the huge ones for post birth), nipple cream. The baby doesn't currently have anywhere to sleep! I work from home and the baby's room will be in my office. At the moment my office is my place of work so baby's room will be done when baby is about 6 months old I reckon! Anything else we need we'll get when baby is here.

On a different note, I'm working from home but my son and husband are both at school. My husband is ridiculously stressed about going into school and working in a classroom full of children. He seems to think he should be self isolating to protect me....although I still intend to send my son to school.. Anyone else in this kind of position?

mrssunshinexxx · 18/03/2020 12:20

@Magpiefeather thank you oh it's this one I had in mind that I want I think..

May sound silly but does anyone have any recommendation for big comfy knickers?

Mj2196 · 18/03/2020 12:56

Can I ask what everybody is doing about the big baby things? Shopping now or risking leaving it till later on ? My pram shop have rang and asked if I’d like to pay the rest of my balance & collect now in case they close or there is a lockdown .. but it would mean having it in the house now , and taking the money from the savings we might need if my self employed partner has to stop working 😩

@Zoey92 I know how you feel !! my oh is also too laid back , he won’t stop referring to it as a cold & thinks it’s going to blow over in a few weeks !!! I could strangle him

LillianFullStop · 18/03/2020 12:59

@Cornishbumpkin I used M&S ones last time - choose the soft fabric and size up for comfort!

Gigitree · 18/03/2020 13:13

@LillianFullStop do you know which ones they were on the M&S website? I struggled to find ones that didn’t have the Annoying part round the top!

Blizy · 18/03/2020 13:19

@Mj2196 we've decided to not buy a pram until the baby arrives for this very reason. My dh is self employed and his work will dry up. I have a feeling we will not be out and about when the baby is newborn anyway! I do have a sling we can use though.

Blizy · 18/03/2020 13:21

@Cornishbumpkin I use Asda black full briefs in a size (or 2) bigger! I bought them with my first pregnancy and are the only ones I wear now 🙈 they are just too comfy!

Magpiefeather · 18/03/2020 13:25

@Mj2196 agree with @Blizy, I would buy a second hand sling so that you at least have a baby transportation option (if you don’t have one already). Also a car seat might be a good idea if you drive, may have to get to medical appointments etc. But pram can wait for sure

AndddddHerewegoagain · 18/03/2020 13:30

@cornishbumpkin i second @Blizy recommendation. Exactly what i have bought and the comfort is unreal

Im currently sat in a garden at work as 3 guys have appeared to put a new integrated fridge in. (Im sure theres a joke somewhere) so until they leave im banished 😂

Pegase · 18/03/2020 13:34

@Ginfilledcats that is so kind of you and hugely reassuring. Terrifying enough giving birth during a pandemic.

Worried I have a slight cough starting. Feel a bit sinusey as well so think it's just a cold (half the kids at school have had a cough recently) and I have no temperature whatsoever. I find it hard to stop obsessing over minor symptoms! We are all at home now anyway, since yesterday, for the foreseeable future. All teaching will be done virtually...

Mj2196 · 18/03/2020 13:39

Thanks girls I’m a nervous wreck ,il look into a sling ! We’ve ordered them all together as a bundle . do you think I should ask them to knock the £600 we’ve paid off the car seat &isofix so I can take them away now ? And leave the pram till may as planned to see how things are🤷🏻‍♀️ .

Magpiefeather · 18/03/2020 13:44

@Mj2196 it’s worth a try! I would ask, worst they can do is say no

Cornishbumpkin · 18/03/2020 14:19

Thanks ladies I'll look at M&S and Asda.

If you ladies are worried about money for a pram could you look at second hand? I got my bugaboo cameleon got £75 from Facebook, it's in great condition and everything can be washed

Blizy · 18/03/2020 14:36

@Mj2196 will you be getting a baby box? If so, I'm sure there's a stretchy wrap Sling included in it.

Mj2196 · 18/03/2020 14:54

@Blizy no I don’t think so I’m in the uk never got with my dd . I’m just having a look online now I can order one today. Mamas and papas have a fair few to choose from &are doing free delivery atm so that’s one thing sorted at least !

Blizy · 18/03/2020 15:06

Oh, that's a shame I'm in
The uk too, Scotland and we get a baby box.
I highly recommend a close Caboo for when baby is still small, my ds practically lived in his!

Rinoa · 18/03/2020 15:44

I use the M&S midi range a size up , I find them very comfortable.

Unfortunately I'm gonna be away from DH for another 7 days as he needs to isolate for 14 😢 I could cry. I know it's not a big deal he's only upstairs but this preggo business really has me emotional. I know he's just trying to protect me and his older parents.
