@Andddddherewegoagain Sunday lunch sounds fab! Same baby will be in our room for at least 6 months in a bedside cot (Snuz Pod) - it's just a matter of clearing out space in the wardrobes for his tiny tiny clothes!

@Rinoa hospitals will normally have their own hospital grade breast pump but from experience they will encourage hand expressing the first few days while it is just colostrum. My milk didn't come on properly until day 4/5 and I was home by then.

I'm trying to decide whether to get replacement valves for my Medela Swing (wasn't a fan of it last time it was too noisy), rent a hospital grade pump or something new altogether - the Elvie?

This weather makes me want some gin! I had some Seedlip last weekend but it wasn't even nice so I'm going to settle for just some icy lemonade this weekend.

sarahlounich · 10/04/2020 09:22

@Lillianfullstop my sister bought me somr seedlip for Xmas but my friend had told me it wasn't very nice so haven't managed to try it yet!! My mums bought some 0% prosecco for Easter so I'm gonna drink that and pretend it's got alcohol in it! Not too long to wait but that first gin is going to taste amazing....and probably give me a massive headache!

Smiffette · 10/04/2020 09:26

@LillianFullStop @sarahlounich you're really making me want a nice cold gin, lemonade and lime! So glad babies will be here soon so we can make the most of a couple of summer drinks in the sun!

31+4

Rinoa · 10/04/2020 09:33

Thanks girls, yea makes sense to not take the pump. So IF milk doesn't come in until after a few days what do I feed baby? Formula?

@mrssunshinexxx I think she meant as it can spread through feces and you might poo it can be easier to spread as you may not even know if you have Covid ? No idea. I want a water birth but I'm quite flexible at this point. Let's see how it is in a month lol

umabb · 10/04/2020 09:37

Thanks for the recommendation on Aden&Anais discount. Will pick up some more muslins.
I've got one baby hooded towel and a halo swaddle/sleep bag (0-3 month). How many of these do we actually need?

AndddddHerewegoagain · 10/04/2020 09:40

I had 2 sips of my husbands cider the other day and it went straight to my head. I've always been a cheap date but thats ridiculous even by my standards!

My hospital have got stricter about birth partners due to non compliance so now the birth partner has to leave after the birth and isn't allowed to visit on the ward. As i have GD im pretty much guaranteed to be admitted so had a cry last night that I'll be by myself, be missing my 3 year old and my dh won't get any time with the baby until we leave hospital. It all feels so unfair!

umabb · 10/04/2020 10:02

@AndddddHerewegoagain same with my hospital but I do hope in June the situation will be slightly better for us xx

Blizy · 10/04/2020 10:03

@Rinoa baby will fill up on your colostrum.
I had some seedlip, and it was horrible! I've been craving sour beer, looking forward to my first cold beer in the summer!
I caved and bought a pram, I used an interest free for 12 months credit card to save us some
Cash in the interim.

mrssunshinexxx · 10/04/2020 10:24

@AndddddHerewegoagain it's SHIT I don't care what anyone says but as @umabb says all we can do is hope by June we are out of the worst of it and thinks are a little more normal x

Pegase · 10/04/2020 10:28

@umabb I'm planning two newborn sleep bags in case of a wee/poo leak in the middle of the night.

Elvie pump is £££ although looks good. Renting seems to be £50/month. I had Ameda double pump last time which was great- was pumping litres of the stuff but same one doesn't seem to be available so am going for Ardo double this time.

BabyBird20 · 10/04/2020 10:53

Hi ladies, jumping on the sleeping bags conversation as I don't know where to start! Anyone got a specific recommendation? What Tog are you getting etc? I quite like the look of the timer tippee ones you can popper their arms in at first similar to swaddling, or the angel wings ones, are these worth the money? 😊

umabb · 10/04/2020 11:06

I got this one Halo Unisex Baby Sleepsack Swaddle Cotton Sleepsuits https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003E6R0K0/ref=cmswrcpapii8reKEbG604325
@BabyBird20 looks like newborn size is sold out though.. I like it as it can swaddle or just as a sleep bag. Thinking to get another one as @Pegase suggested which totally makes sense Smile

peetieswie · 10/04/2020 11:47

Also 30% off everything on Sleep no more website but only will 12 today if anyone sees it quick. Code is 30NOW! Love their style of clothes, very quirky.

AndddddHerewegoagain · 10/04/2020 11:49

Im due in may 😭😭 just by the time I went for my 12 week scan which turned out to be a 16 week scan 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ i was settled in this group so stayed. Plus GD means the baby will probably come early so looking at the next 4-5 weeks but so much is changing every day im hoping in another 3 weeks they can relax the restrictions a little bit.

Mj2196 · 10/04/2020 11:57

I’ve gone for a snuzpouch 1tog , & just the one swaddle blanket . I spent loads on swaddle things for dd and she hated all of them .🙈

mrssunshinexxx · 10/04/2020 12:06

@AndddddHerewegoagain let's think positive xx

MsMiaWallace · 10/04/2020 13:16

Does anyone else feel massive? I'm nearly 29 weeks.
Bump is so tight, it's all baby!

Feel like my ass & legs are massive too !

Ginfilledcats · 10/04/2020 15:28

I feel huge but then my pictures don't seem to show me as big as I see in the mirror lol. Measuring on the 50th centile continuously (2 scans and 2 bump measurements) so I know it's fine but I can't help but compare! 31+3

Going to start pulling together my hospital bag I think....trouble is my mum has half the stuff (feminine products etc) as I wanted to spare my awkward husband the embarrassment of trying to find the items in Tesco lol.

umabb · 10/04/2020 15:36

Hot day! Sun bathing in the garden. Had some 1% alcohol cider - went straight to my head 🤪 found some speghetti dresses that I can still wear - lucky! Summer clothes sorted! 😂

OP posts:
umabb · 10/04/2020 15:37

Feel huge too! Don't like photos to be taken 😖

OP posts:
LillianFullStop · 10/04/2020 15:53

@sarahlounich @Smiffette that first gin or bubbly will be amazing but I will probably manage 3 sips before getting a headache!

@Rinoa they are meant to be fine on just colostrum the first few days - my DD had to top up with formula though as I don't think she was getting enough colostrum from me until my milk came in. Really little top ups though I would breastfeed then she'd take another 20/30ml formula at first then 50ml at 4/5 days old when my milk came in and she was too full for top ups.

@Andddddherewegoagain it is the same for me now in terms of hospital policies - it's going to be tough - all the big sister books I got for my DD had something about visiting new baby in hospital and it won't happen now obviously. Do you have someone to leave DS with? I'm still trying to work out childcare logistics with lockdown restrictions about other households. It should fall into the category of looking after a vulnerable person surely for someone outside household to watch siblings?

Wow you're due May so you'll be up first! What's your due date we can you to the list!

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jeR8u4sOzb8A0_sVntZC4f6Z6RP6bJd9v2Lj8kI0IEc

@umabb and @Ginfilledcats I feel huge too! Can't stand anything on my bump now even over or under the bump. Can't see how I can get much bigger?! Shock

Pegase · 10/04/2020 15:54

My husband couldn't locate maternity pads and Boots out of stock for delivery - not sure where to get them!

sarahlounich · 10/04/2020 16:01

@Lillianfullstop me too and the thought of a hangover and a newborn is not something I want to experience!!

I'm feeling big and pretty uncomfortable now. Similar to @ginfilledcats I've measured around the 50th centile but feel huge! I slept really bad last night as when I lay in my side he gravities to that side and my stomach is so uncomfortable. I've also started getting restless legs 🙄 put my hypnobirthing recording on last night in bed....husband asleep after 10 mins and I was wide awake!

I'm sure I read somewhere (although cannot remember where) that having someone to look after another child while you're at hospital is allowed.

32+3...got a boots order arriving tomorrow with hopefully the rest of the things for hospital bag and then I'm gonna start getting it all together 😬

Washed all his newborn sized clothes today and they're on the line outside 🥰 defo got too much but hoping it means I won't have to wash everyday!

newbyxx · 10/04/2020 16:09

This lovely weather is definitely making me want a nice cold fruit cider or pink gin... not long ladies atleast we will get to have our summer drinks. I'm looking at getting 1.5 tog sleep bag as that's what recommenced for summer months. @Pegase I had the same issue with boots and not knowing what else to get so I got these. Look huge but the reviews are really positive especially for first few days after birth I got 2 packs then hoping I can go on to smaller 😂

MissisBee · 10/04/2020 16:10

I got maternity pads in Tesco. Still need a pack of breast pads. I've a load of reusable ones but want disposable ones for hospital.
Anyone else planning to harvest colostrum? I'm planning to from around 36-37 weeks, depending on how things go.
