@Busylizzie85 yes think I saw this thanks !

Pegase · 05/04/2020 12:04

@Rinoa I have bought the same as @Busylizzie85. I didn't buy any formula or bottles at all last time feeling smug that I wouldn't need them as was going to 100% breastfeed. Cue DH panic rush to the shops while I sat with a screaming baby unable to feed.

UKtoSK · 05/04/2020 12:29

@AndddddHerewegoagain thank you for the tips! I usually sit cross legged on the sofa so making sure to stretch my legs out in front of me now.

@SearchingTheSkies yes it was only during the night from sleeping on my side at first, especially the left, but now it’s continuing into the daytime too, especially notice it when I go up stairs.

Sorry that it’s so hard for many of you to get hold of nappies right now. I hope the supermarkets start catching up with demand soon. Such unneeded stress.

Rinoa · 05/04/2020 14:18

@Pegase @Busylizzie85 I like the kit but doesn't seem to have good reviews for the steriliser. In fact I can't see any steriliser that has mostly good reviews. They all seem to be mixed !

Pegase · 05/04/2020 14:44

@Rinoa we used the Tommee Tippee microwave stériliser last time for about a year and we thought it was great.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/04/2020 15:08

@Pegase argh that makes me panic I didn't want formula in the house as thought it may make me cave when breastfeeding is a struggle

Did you manage to BF in hospital would the baby just not latch at home ? X

Pegase · 05/04/2020 16:28

@mrssunshinexxx we were finding it challenging in the hospital- I had a bad birth and blood transfusions etc but main problem was DD was making me bleed 😳 due to poor latch / insistence!

I was then ridiculously sore and she was getting more and more wound up so we gave formula. I expressed for her for 3 months which worked well- I had tons of milk so mainly fed breast milk with formula if supplies a bit low.

Will try again this time but not being able to bf really affected my mental health last time whereas this time I will try to be a bit more chilled out - if we end up expressing or combi feeding then so be it. Also buying nipple shields in advance this time which probably would have prevented the damage getting so bad the first time. Bf support in hospital was very poor unfortunately.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/04/2020 18:12

@Pegase oh gosh that sounds tough like you say the initial support in hospital I would say is paramount I hope you have a better experience this time and less pain x

Magpiefeather · 05/04/2020 19:44

@Pegase sounds similar to our start breastfeeding... I was so determined I would bf I hadn’t even thought about bottles or a steriliser. I didn’t even know how to formula feed.

I stayed in hospital for 3 days to get support with breastfeeding. They were good at that but we did end up supplementing with formula very early on, same as you, DH went on a mad dash to the supermarket to bring the stuff we needed to the hospital. Which was fine but with the corona virus that might be slightly more difficult this time.

Also like you my struggles with breastfeeding took a massive toll on my mental health. This time I am much more chilled (and also more prepared I think).

So I think we are going to get the tommee tippee electric steam steriliser (which we had last time and was fab) with about 8 bottles. I’ve still got a breast pump from last time. Also agree re nipples shields they saved me with dd. I think for hospital bag I’ll get a pack of those pre made bottles with sterilised teats in case it all goes wrong with bf. hopefully I won’t need them but would rather be prepared.

It’s all starting to feel quite real now!!!
29 weeks today.

This article popped up on my bounty app this afternoon about pelvic pain

Hope it helps all that need it x

newbyxx · 06/04/2020 09:23

Is anyone else carrying very low? I feel like my bump has really dropped already 😬

31+2

Busylizzie85 · 06/04/2020 09:44

@newbyxx I thought the same looking in the mirror today it's definitely got lower x

Busylizzie85 · 06/04/2020 09:45

31+3 so I am only a day ahead of you x

Blizy · 06/04/2020 10:04

I struggled with breast feeding my ds. He spent the 2 nights in hospital attached to my my boob. He wasn't upset just constantly feeding. The midwife wasn't happy with this and told me
He was starving and I had to give him formula. She gave me bottles and told me to me feed him. After this we struggled with latch (he had a younger tie) and I had to bf, express and top up with formula. It was utterly exhausting, I gave up after 3 weeks and switched solely to formula.
I am determined this time to breastfeed.

chocolate26 · 06/04/2020 10:10

@newbyxx my bump feels low too and I'm only 29+2! Some days it feels really heavy aswell like it's dragging me down.

Cornishbumpkin · 06/04/2020 10:30

Just watching this morning and they think BOJOs girlfriend may have the virus. She's a similar gestation to us

peetieswie · 06/04/2020 11:02

@blizy Sounds very similar to the experience of Stacey Solomon with her youngest. She's done a podcast called 'here we go again' with an episode with a breast feeding expert and talks about her experience. Might be worth listening to.

Blizy · 06/04/2020 11:18

Thanks @peetieswie I'll check that out. I now know that it was perfectly normal for baby to feed constantly especially at night! It really affected me mentally , feeling like a failure.
This time I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself!

mrssunshinexxx · 06/04/2020 12:11

@Blizy that midwife didn't sound the most helpful sorry about that I hope this time it's Better for you x

AnonyHB · 06/04/2020 12:30

I feel low and heavy as well - only 29+2 and I was allegedly measuring small at midwife app last week (subsequent growth scan showed baby is average for all measurements though) but I honestly don't know how that can be as I am an absolute hippo and feel I am carrying very low. I have loads of pressure in the entire reproductive area, if you know what I mean! I would love baby to come at 38 weeks - 9 weeks feels about manageable at the moment, 11 really doesn't (obviously don't want baby here before they are ready and their health is more important etc.)

UKtoSK · 06/04/2020 13:41

I’m another one carrying low. Last scan just over a week ago baby was head down and curled up with bum to one side and legs and feet on the other side, all below my belly button. Almost never feel kicks higher than my belly button. I definitely get a lot of pressure down low sometimes. Hoping she stays low and head down though for the next 10-13 weeks. (28+2 today)

I saw the news about Boris’ girlfriend at the weekend, I hope she’s alright.

Overthinker1988 · 06/04/2020 17:09

Jumping on this thread, due end of June with first and wanted to know, has anyone who's had babies before used natal hypnotherapy and did you find it useful?

Ginfilledcats · 06/04/2020 17:41

@overthinker is that something different to hypnobirthing? Never heard of it before. What's the intention?

BabyBird20 · 06/04/2020 17:44

Random question but does anyone have a recommendation for a changing mat? Bought a cheap one from amazon but now worrying its a bit flimsy and might not be very comfy! 😬😬

Babymaher · 06/04/2020 17:56

@BabyBird20 we got this one www.amazon.co.uk/East-Coast-Nursery-Origami-Changing/dp/B0758HR44V/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=wedge+changing+mat&sprefix=wedge+changing&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1586192095&sr=8-3
Currently out of stock on amazon but can get it from Argos etc! It’s pretty solid
