@BabyBird20 I would give the hospital a ring. Any change in movement should be checked out, reduced or abnormally increased.
Whilst you are waiting to call have a cold drink and lie on your left hand side.

Busylizzie85 · 29/03/2020 19:00

@BabyBird20 I would try all the usual tricks first, something sweet to eat, something cold to drink and lay on your side somewhere quiet to see if that gets baby moving.
The midwife I saw at the hospital on Friday did say to be if movement changes please don't hesitate to call them as it's better to be safe.
My little bambino is definitely quieter today then normal but I am wondering whether the change in time has thrown the pattern off x

chocolate26 · 29/03/2020 19:00

@BabyBird20 mine definitely has days where he/she is a lot quieter, I've worked out that's when it's hiding behind my placenta! My placenta is at the front on the right. The first couple of times this happened I panicked and got checked out but now I leave it a day or 2 and then he/she moves to a different position and I feel it again more. I would definitely say give your midwife a call! You are not wasting anyone's time, it's important to get checked for baby and for your peace of mind 😊 I'm sure everything is fine but better to be safe!

Gigitree · 29/03/2020 19:09

@BabyBird20 if that’s unusual for you then perhaps you should call triage?
They won’t think you’re wasting anyone’s time at all!
You could try laying on your left side and drinking something cold/sweet or eating something sugary to see if that gets him going? I’m sure everything is fine, he may just have got himself in a position where you feel him less, but if it’s not normal for you to go this long not feeling him then it’s worth to ringing them ❤️

Gigitree · 29/03/2020 19:14

@MsMiaWallace I Honestly don’t know what the guidance is here, I haven’t seen anything official from the gov about this. I guess it depends on each individual situation. Are they high risk or not? Might be worth mentioning at your next midwife appointment, they may have some insight.
It’s a predicament a lot of people are finding themselves in!

BabyBird20 · 29/03/2020 20:10

Thanks all for the advice, been for a walk, eaten a chocolate bar and had a cold drink! Now laid on my side and hoping!! If I don't feel him soon I'll give them a call!! 🤞🤞

Gigitree · 29/03/2020 21:31

@BabyBird20 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Keep us updated

LillianFullStop · 29/03/2020 23:24

@BabyBird20 you should give them a call even just to speak to them - at my booking my midwife made a point to tell me - don't feel silly or feel like you're wasting our time if you're worried. Please call us.

Let us know if the belly party gets started.

30+1 now so going to buy the last minute bits this week as I don't know what other distribution centre/warehouses might shut in the next couple of weeks.

Aiming to have bag packed at 34/35 weeks. Not long to go!!

BabyBird20 · 30/03/2020 01:06

Hi ladies, thanks for all of the advice and good wishes! I am now in the hosp hooked up to a monitor listening to baby's heart! They were lovely and absolutely told me to come in! He's since woken up and started moving which is Sod's law! Now waiting for a doc to come and scan me! 🤞🤞

Gigitree · 30/03/2020 06:54

@BabyBird20 oh that’s fab news that he’s woken up and heart beat etc is all good! It’s always worth going in!
He must of had a little growth spurt and was sleeping it off 😀

AndddddHerewegoagain · 30/03/2020 08:26

Hi everyone just wanted to say superdrug have tea tree oil and witch hazel in stock for click and collect if anyone wants them as per my last post about maternity pads post partum.

So glad little one is ok @BabyBird20 they like to keep us on our toes dont they!

APD1981 · 30/03/2020 09:18

@Babybird20 so pleased all is well.

I had worries last night and through the night, too. I was feeling movements but they were different. I usually get lots of kicks and movements high up, under my ribs. I think I'm carrying high and baby seems to be head down most of the time so I get a bum and feet sticking out high up a lot. But yesterday all the movements were deep in my pelvis. Not seeing my tummy ripple worried me. However, it seems to be back to normal this morning so baby must have been in a different position for a bit.

I assume that as long as you're feeling movements at the usual pattern times, it doesn't matter too much if they move around??

BabyBird20 · 30/03/2020 09:32

Thanks ladies! It's such a relief!! They said he was head down and facing my spine which could've meant i was feeling him less too! The advice was very much if you stop feeling him or his pattern of movement has changed a lot then call, though I think they are much less worried if you're still feeling them but in a different way if you know what I mean!

@APD1981 I think it sounds like yours has just had a wriggle around, they said they still have enough space to change positions up til about 36 weeks! But if worried call the midwife and they will reassure you!!

They had introduced the no partners on the ward rule at my hosp which meant my DH had to either wait in the carpark or go back home! I sent him home which I'm glad about as was in there nearly 2 hours in the end! Xx

umabb · 30/03/2020 09:33

Scary night for me too as I had been feeling achy on my stomach (around and below belly button). Not something deep in more of like on the surface /skin! Little B has been active as usual so not too worried but don't know what that was and didn't sleep well at all Confused

@Babybird20 thanks for much for sharing that advice. Baby was still moving at the usual times, just in a different place that didn't feel quite so obvious. I decided in the night that if it still felt a bit off this morning I'd phone the midwife but as it seems to be back to normal I haven't. Will definitely keep monitoring though

30+1

LillianFullStop · 30/03/2020 11:26

Great news @Babybird20! Glad all the belly parties are back - the clocks moving forward must have thrown them off lol

@umabb I had that last week but in the middle of my bump! Felt like skin was stretching with the bump but quite painful and sensitive to touch. Loaded it up with cream and oil before bed and it felt fine the next day - must have been a growth spurt so tummy stretch wasn't as gradual.

umabb · 30/03/2020 12:26

Ahh sounds very similar @LillianFullStop I put bio oil on every night but will try to out more tonight. No obvious pain today though so I'm hoping it's all fine. Thanks x

@BabyBird20 glad he started moving again! Sorry you had that stress though.

@APD1981 my baby regularly changes positions so some days I feel loads of movement and then some days I can still feel her but not at the front and then worry until she turns back around again. But I’ve got used to it now and don’t worry so much. Still a relief when they go back to normal though isn’t it!

Anyone else find it hard to believe we still have so many weeks of growth to go? I already feel so big. Second time mums, did you develop a pregnant waddle and if so, when?

chocolate26 · 30/03/2020 16:36

@BabyBird20 so glad everything was okay with him 😊 you did the right thing going to get checked!

chocolate26 · 30/03/2020 16:39

So I had my 28 week midwife appointment today and she measured my bump and said how I was quite big and that they would keep track of it but I'm only having a telephone call at 31 and 34 weeks so how will they know if I'm getting too big? She said she will book me a scan for 36 weeks but now I'm nervous about it getting too big and no one picking up on it 😕 this is a picture of my graph, am I really big for 28+2?

Due June 2020: Thread 5
Smiffette · 30/03/2020 17:00

@chocolate26 I wouldn't worry... my first one at 28 was bigger than yours, measured 31 but she was t worried at all and said as long as it's a steady growth from then on it's fine.

I was concerned when she plotted it on the graph but then when she said what she said I thought ok I'll wait and see what 31 week measurement is.

I'm 30 weeks today so next measurement is next week on Wednesday.

I am planning on having a private scan at 36 weeks to check positioning and estimated baby size. Unless they end up sending me for a growth scan before then.

Rinoa · 30/03/2020 17:04

I forgot where I'd read that the number you measure should be the same as the weeks you are? So looks like it's not too much bigger !

chocolate26 · 30/03/2020 17:14

That's good then! My worry is that I'm not seeing my midwife for my 31 or 34 week appointments now, it has to be done over the phone so she won't get to measure me until 36 weeks! Maybe I will book a private scan for 32 weeks or something just to be safe? I'm probably worrying over nothing 😊🙄

Rinoa · 30/03/2020 17:27

Maybe at your next phone appointment you can ask if it's safer to measure you before? I'm sure they will know what's best !

OAN FTM here and have a dumb question lol I will have a Chicco Next2Me magic crib for baby. Came with fitted sheets, do I need flat sheets? I was planning on using some sort of swaddle or sleeping bag, is a flat sheet still needed ?
