@Gigitree my hopes exactly but I do think really Boris TONIGHT needs to implement stricter measures as the tubes etc are still rammed today if he can do this I'm confident we could get through the worse much quicker
And selfishly although all you ladies will understand I just want it over with my June so everything is normal family can meet our bundle my husband can be my birth partner etc and everyone can be much safer x

Ginfilledcats · 24/03/2020 12:31

I don't think we need to worry about not being allowed birthing partners. Probably only one though. Fingers crossed!

Busylizzie85 · 24/03/2020 12:43

My local news reported that birth partners were allowed at the hospitals so I would not worry about that! I agree they need to be stricter in London and get over the worst quicker so we can get on with our lives.

APD1981 · 24/03/2020 12:55

@UKtoSK I am a teacher too and we were told about potential redundancies a few weeks ago. Sending out the email with a restructure on it showing my dept needs to lose someone was awful timing yesterday! I'm in touch with my union so hoping pregnancy/maternity leave protects me somewhat but we'll see.

umabb · 24/03/2020 13:12

Is it legal to make pregnant women redundant ? Sorry that a few of us would have to worry about that Sad

I'm buying all stuff off my checklist which includes hospital bag too! Got maternity pads and disposable knickers. Some nursing pads (don't know how many I will need). Breast pumps. Looking for nursing night gowns and nursing tops (will leave it to later I think as online clothes shops will likely still be open).

I was going to rely on the NHS antenatal classes but now it's all up in the air. Will ask NCT see if they've still got slots for the remote courses (do they actually cost the same ?)

28+2 x

I got an email from Pramworld to say they were still delivering to fingers crossed any of you guys who have bought things with them will get your delive@mrssunshinexxx yes I Completely agree, the really need to put pressure on those businesses that are not allowing people to work from home (when it’s clearly a job that can be done from home) and perhaps only allow key workers to use public transport.
Yes exactly, I want the strictest measures as soon as possible so we can get through this thing and out the other side ASAP! Some of
my non pregnant friends who were complaining about the lockdown just don’t get it!

@umabb where are you buying all your hospital bag stuff from? I placed an order with Superdrug last Monday and they have only just dispatched it. But since then things have rapidly changed so there are other bits I thought I could get nearer the time that perhaps I need to order sooner rather than later.
How many size 1 nappies do you think we need to start off with? Hoping by June this will all have calmed down, but I’d like to have a decent amount put by just in case.

I emailed my NCT contact as we were due to start face to face classes on the 9th April, they just confirmed they would be Virtual not and they would be in touch soon with more info. So I don’t know if they will be charging us the full amount still or not.

umabb · 24/03/2020 14:05

@Gigitree mostly from amazon.
Check these out:-

I was going to buy pads from boots and aw some reviews mentioned this so I ordered
Lil-Lets Maternity Pads | 30 x... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07LBLQSWP?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

This looks good for however baby is delivered (c section or not)
Manternity Knickers Disposable C... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KP81XWS?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

umabb · 24/03/2020 14:08

Ah sorry just realised the pads aren't available anymore. A friend of ours doing small bushes and he was told by amazon Market place not to post stuff to warehouse anymore in April which means many things will be out of stock on amazon too. Hence my rush last week to get things sorted..

Got a phone call from the hospital just now that my 28wk appointment with midwife on Friday is now moved to the hospital - originally I saw them in a nursery where they have an office which is only 5 mins drive away. Now I'll need to get in the general hospital and I was told not to go in early , and not to bring my partner. They say because it's 28wks so still need to happen (blood test and stuff). Not sure what will happen to coming appointments. Confused

mrssunshinexxx · 24/03/2020 14:29

@Gigitree I still have a list of things I need to get but I'm not panicking just yet as I really do think things will of calmed down by June I've got 3 packs of size 1 nappies so far xx

LillianFullStop · 24/03/2020 14:30

@umabb that explains why a lot of things are out of stock on Amazon I don't think they are coping with the demand

Mj2196 · 24/03/2020 14:39

@Gigitree that’s good news then !& I bought 5 Packs of size 1 with dd but she Was a big baby &went up to size 2 before they ran out. I’ll probably get 2 packs of size 1&one of the handheld packs for hospital, then 2 packs of size 2.
I couldn’t get anything from Superdrug :( I placed on order with loyds pharmacy online last week & they’ve emailed today to cancel it .. the only thing they can send is the Electric toothbrush so I’ve paid 5quid delivery for a toothbrush 😂.

So think I’ll be leaving the hospital bag until things calm down , might start on baby clothes instead. my work closed on Friday so I’ve plenty of time to browse Online I suppose !

@umabb I had my 28weeks yesterday at a children’s centre ,( closed to the public )I had to wait in the car & they phoned me when to go in , also alone. It was slightly eerie.

Gigitree · 24/03/2020 16:45

Thanks for the links @umabb
That’s strange that they’ve sent you to a hospital where you’re likely to come into contact with more people.

@mrssunshinexxx you’re probably right, i just like to be organised so I want it all now 😂
I have 2 packs of size 1 so I will perhaps get one more in the next couple of weeks and leave it at that.

@Mj2196 thanks, I could end up with a chunky baby so perhaps I won’t get too many size 1’s 😂
£5 delivery for a toothbrush that takes the piss doesn’t it 😂😂

I have my 28 week appointment on Friday and that will be at a children’s centre too, but no one has been in contact yet to say I should wait in my car or anything 🤔

mrssunshinexxx · 24/03/2020 16:55

@Gigitree my 28 week app is also in a children's centre this fri I also haven't been told if my husband can come or not if the midwife doesn't text me we will both go as we have both been self isolating so prettt Damn safe

Mj2196 · 24/03/2020 17:20

I phoned to check my appointment was still on and she said yes but to bring 1 person only including children& wait outside till told to come in 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I had to go alone as my dp had to stay home with dd . The “waiting room” there is just 2 chairs outside the room so I assume that’s why they told us to come in one at a time

Gigitree · 24/03/2020 17:45

@mrssunshinexxx at least it’s not just me that hasn’t heard anything! 😆 yeah sounds like you guys should be fine. I don’t know whether to bring my hubby or not, he’s been working from home and only been out to the shops a couple of times so should be ok in theory.

@mj2196 ah ok that makes sense. Thankfully where I go there’s a big waiting room, there were only two other people in there when i went last time and we all managed to sit quite a distance apart from each other, so perhaps I will be ok to just go in and wait.

Magpiefeather · 24/03/2020 19:19

I’ve got my 28 week appointment on Friday too, at my GP surgery. I wasn’t told not to bring anyone, and usually take DD but as DH is at home I will leave her at home to minimise risk and also have a more peaceful appointment!

AmyMaria2 · 24/03/2020 19:24

My 30 week consultant appointment Thursday has been changed to a telephone appointment which I'm glad about, but still have a scan and midwife appointment next week at the hospital anyway😬
Hoping she will be able to tell me more if I'll need to be induced or not x

30+0

BabyBird20 · 24/03/2020 20:36

I've just had to postpone my 28 week growth scan tomo as have got a horrible cold which has now given me a cough!! 😢😢 I'm sure it's just a normal cold but better to be safe than sorry. My consultant is going to call me instead of face to face and I have to self isolate for 7 days! Already been social distancing since last Tuesday so nothing much changing!! 😬😷

Smiffette · 24/03/2020 20:36

Just had my first virtual NCT class, second class of the course. It actually worked ok so I am looking forward to the next one now!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 24/03/2020 21:57

I have my gtt test tomorrow so stuffed myself with pasta tonight to keep myself going. I could probably run a marathon on the amount of carbs i ate 😂😂

Online4baby are still delivering and currently have a sale on if anyone wants to cheer themselves up with some baby shopping!

Also please don't buy disposable maternity briefs. Have you ever put a piece of clothing on and thought.... this would be so much better if made from paper?

I highly suggest massive pants. Massive pads and witch hazel gel.

Put the witch hazel on the pads, put the pads in the fridge ( your welcome husband and partners 😂) then change when you go to the toilet. I promise there is no feeling like the relief of a cold pad after going to the toilet... trust me!

SearchingTheSkies · 25/03/2020 08:52

Morning everyone - hope you're all keeping well.

@AndddddHerewegoagain thanks for the pads tip - I would never have thought of that!

@Smiffette That's good to hear the class was still useful. Mine start next month and was wondering whether to still go ahead, but I think I will. Surely better than nothing.

@APD1981 sorry to hear about your job uncertainty - that is rubbish timing. I hope your union can help.

My sister dropped off (from a safe distance) a load of baby things she no longer needs, so I might start sorting through and ordering what I still need, just in case deliveries start to slow down under demand. Haven't started hospital bag or anything yet! 26+5 so still time I hope.

Hope you can all enjoy some of this lovely sunshine if you're in the UK.

APD1981 · 25/03/2020 09:12

@searchingtheskies thank you. Maybe it's a sign that I should stay home with baby for longer than my mat leave! We are only planning on having 1 child (for various reasons) and so I do feel like it's a once only chance to be there for all the little milestones. We'll have to make some lifestyle adjustments but it would be possible. Maybe it's fate, hey?!

I'm loving the sunshine. It makes everything feel so much better! I'm fortunate to have a decent sized garden with lots of trees so it's lovely to be able to go out there and feel safe. Currently on the couch in my pj's knitting baby a cardi, though!

LillianFullStop · 25/03/2020 09:30

I think you're quite protected @APD1981 in terms of redundancies - let's hope you get some reassurance soon.

Good luck with the GTT today @AndddddHerewegoagain - got my results in and I got the all clear! Such a relief as it's bad enough with everything going on and being locked down last thing I needed was more restrictions! Hope yours is all clear too.
