Have you all had whooping cough jab? I never got mine??

chocolate26 · 23/03/2020 16:50

@peetieswie I haven't had mine either, I need to call my doctors to arrange to have it! I don't really want to go into the doctors at the moment though! I think we can have it up to 36 weeks? So I might leave it a bit and see how everything plays out.

Rinoa · 23/03/2020 17:55

@peetieswie yes got mine at 22 weeks

Pegase · 23/03/2020 20:19

@peetieswie I heard NCT are doing online classes now? That was just hearsay tho.

Whooping cough less effective after a certain number of weeks so worth checking. I had mine at GP last week - didn't sit down in waiting room, nurse in PPE, injected me v quickly with us both standing up then I got out of there!

Smiffette · 23/03/2020 20:28

@Pegase yes that's right my NCT classes are now virtual with session over video conferencing. Better than missing it all together I guess!

Ginfilledcats · 23/03/2020 21:12

Anyone any idea if baby stores will be classes as essential? We ordered our pram and car seat several weeks ago. It's in store waiting (supposedly) until closer to due date to be collected.

If they can't open, we can't collect...how do we bring baby home from hospital?

Mj2196 · 23/03/2020 21:21

@Ginfilledcats This is why I went & collected mine today, they rang and pre warned me last week .. the showroom was closed We had to back the car up to the collection point & they just put the boxes on the floor & made me sign .Couldn’t put them in the car or fit my car seat or isofix base 🙈 . They did say if they have to shut they can’t help anyone but there was every chance of re opening in time, we just didn’t want to take the risk x

Ginfilledcats · 23/03/2020 21:25

@mj see that's what I wanted to do, I rang them and they said it would be fine. Not their fault, how were they to know.
They do deliver so I've emailed and asked if that will be possible.

Worst case scenario I can borrow my sister in laws old car seat for my niece, but no isofix.

I've used pramworld. Who have you used?

Ugh.

Mj2196 · 23/03/2020 21:30

Oh you should be fine then ! Online Shopping & delivery services are Still available I’m sure they said on the news..
I used adorable tots , I’ve ordered my snuzpod through pramworld For delivery & I can’t get hold of anybody for an update !

Gigitree · 23/03/2020 22:09

We’ve ordered our nursery furniture through pramworld! Due to arrive Wednesday so I hope it still comes 😩
Not the end of the world if we don’t get it yet as we have her Snuzpod ready to go, but I just wanted the chest of draws so I could start washing her clothes and getting them put away properly etc.

BabyBird20 · 23/03/2020 22:35

@smifette do you still have to pay full price for that? I'm torn between cancelling myself and asking for a refund or waiting for them to cancel on me!

sarahlounich · 24/03/2020 06:10

@smifette @BabyBird20 I was wondering how the online NCT works 😕 ours was meant to start last week and they've been good at keeping in contact via email and are making arrangements to start the classes online but I just can't see it being the same service we'd have got face to face....I know absolutely not their fault!

30+0 (that was a bit scary typing that!!)

AmyMaria2 · 24/03/2020 07:25

Has anyone started washing all baby's things? I'm also waiting for a chest of drawers to arrive, then I think I'll start, non bio washing powder is best to use isn't it??
Also is anyone starting their hospital bags yet? I need to order a few things to go in I think but just feeling like I should be really prepared now🙈xx

AnonyHB · 24/03/2020 07:29

I’m the same with classes. I have some private 1-2-1 hypnobirthing sessions booked to start every week for a month from this weekend and she has just emailed to say the sessions will now have to be on Zoom. I just don’t think it will be the same and we paid £180 for it - I could watch YouTube or download positive birth company stuff for a fraction of that and probably get the same stuff. She offered option to cancel but I feel bad :/

LillianFullStop · 24/03/2020 07:29

@AmyMaria2 I've gone through DD's newborn clothes to pick out the unisex ones so I knew what else I needed to buy. And since I had them out already I've washed them and cleared out a drawer for them so they're nice and ready in there. So cute seeing tiny newborn clothes again!

Going to start buying the rest soon as I don't know what the postal system will be like closer to the time.

Ginfilledcats · 24/03/2020 07:51

I emailed pramworld last night, I'll update with what response I get later. But their insta says they are shutting but will try and help all they can't so fingers crossed.

I'm 29+0, not started my hospital bag yet but might start ordering things after pay day, as pp says you never know how long it could take to arrive! And being prepared really calms me down (highly anxious)

How many of those sleeping bag things do people think is a good amount to get? And what tog would be best for summer months?

Hope you're all well x

mrssunshinexxx · 24/03/2020 08:07

@sarahlounich @BabyBird20 @Smiffette
Don't know if helpful but our private hypnobirthing course that was meant to be in our home got changed to Skype and I was sulking thinking it's not going to be as personable etc but it was actually still really good and so glad I didn't cancel especially with all this going on I'm more focused than ever on using this spare time to prepare for the birth I want x

mrssunshinexxx · 24/03/2020 08:09

@AnonyHB see my msg above x

@AmyMaria2 yeah all washed and put away you don't need to use non bio just don't use much of anything I researched and non bio is a myth really and can start them
With sensitive skin issues when there didn't need to be any x

sarahlounich · 24/03/2020 08:19

@mrssunshinexxx aww thank you that is reassuring. I guess we have no choice but to give it the benefit of the doubt!

Hope the hypnobirthing is going well x

Rinoa · 24/03/2020 09:18

Gin, yes same. I feel like I need to have it all in place otherwise I'll stay anxious. I'm hoping this next pay day to get more bots together. I hope the baby stuff we ordered at the Baby Show still shows up on time 😬

APD1981 · 24/03/2020 09:53

To reassure some of you, Argos delivered our single bed for the nursery this morning. The delivery blokes said they are classed as key workers as they're delivering essential items.

In other news, I found out yesterday that I'm likely to be made redundant. I am trying not to let it stress me out but I am waiting to find out about my mat pay. As long as I can still get my occupational mat pay I won't be too upset to not go back after mat leave as I was thinking about staying at home for a bit with the baby anyway, but leaving a job is a lot harder than going through no choice!

There are lots of unknowns at the moment and I just want to keep baby safe and well x

Magpiefeather · 24/03/2020 09:57

@Ginfilledcats it depends how hot it is, dd was born in May 2017 which was a heatwave, for a couple of months she was just in a sleepsuit - sometimes just a vest! Sometimes nothing else and sometimes with just a Muslin as a sheet as it was just roasting in our flat. I think it was August when we started using the sleeping bags and we only had two, one for washing and one for using, in A low tog - 1.5 max for summer. TK Maxx sometimes have Grobags at a fraction of the cost

Smiffette · 24/03/2020 11:25

I am needing to order a case for hospital bag as at the moment I have a small carry on which won't be big enough or a really big one! Will probably start washing all of her stuff over the next week as well and putting it all away! Then can start on hospital bag!

29+1

UKtoSK · 24/03/2020 11:33

@APD1981 sorry to hear about the possible redundancy. I guess that’s going to be happening to a lot of people soon. I hope it doesn’t affect your maternity pay. I left my job in feb when my contract ended but was expecting to still get some income from tutoring but had to stop that because of the virus. Thankful that my husband still gets paid even though he can’t work right now either (he’s a teacher).

So exciting that some of you are turning 30 weeks now! And thinking about hospital bags. Wow!

Does anyone else feel like their baby gets a big growth spurt overnight sometimes? I’m sure my bump stays the same for days and then suddenly gets bigger in a day. Also baby’s movements feel different today suddenly, stronger, my whole belly wobbles now when she moves.

Gigitree · 24/03/2020 12:01

@APD1981 thanks for the reassurance, sounds like online stores are still allowed to deliver for the time being, it’s just physical shops that aren’t selling food that have to close.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear about your redundancy, that’s such added stress that you don’t need right now, fingers crossed you can still get your occupational maternity pay 🤞🏻

Everything is so up in the air at the moment isn’t it? I’m the type that loves to plan and plan way in advance so I’m finding it really stressful with there being so many unknowns, but fingers crossed this 3 week lockdown can turn the tide on this virus and then we should be in a much better position come our due dates 🤞🏻🤞🏻❤️
