Ok folks here is the new thread. I have put it into ante natal again for now, we can always start a new one in the post natal forum once we have all popped.

:D Could have used that for a thread title.... Once you pop you just can't stop

Congratulations to Norfolk and MrsM!!

Norfolk, sorry you had a rough time - thank goodness at least one of your MWs managed to spot that the baby was breech! Great news that Kate is doing well now, though, and all the best for a speedy recovery from your section.

MrsM, I also can't believe you're already posting (frankly I'm quite impressed with all these hospitals that have internet access - ours appears to have one payphone in a draughty corridor, and not even any bedside TV!). Love the name Luca, if that's what you go for - reminds me of Dr Kovac in ER (sorry, probably rather inappropriate associations given your boy's only a day old, but yum!!).

Sophus, definitely like the idea of an overdue club. It seems depressingly small at the moment though - all the regulars on here seem to have selfishly had their babies on time or early. And Edie's suspiciously missing today as well .

Nothing to report from me (again). I'm off to have coffee and copious amounts of cake with my NCT ladies. Of the six of us, there's only me and one other left now who haven't had their babies - she's due after me, but they've said she'll probably be early. The race is on!!

Congratulations fiofio - my ds2 is called Finlay, gorgeous name .

Congratulations mrsmar - so glad to hear it went well, take it easy and take those painkillers!!!

Congratulations norfolk but sorry to hear it didn't quite go to plan. My boys were in SCBU for a month and it is not nice is it? Must second the advice of kinki that you make sure your scar is checked and re-checked by midwives or doctors and that if you get feverish or have pain to insist on treatment. But I am sure the worst is over and all will be fine. Welcome Kate Thea, a nice dramatic entrance for her, maybe she will be a gymnast??? !!

Absolutely knackered today, woke up at 4am and that was it. Feel like a zombie now but don't really feel like I can sleep. Luckily I have some help with my boys this afternoon and then it is the weekend, hurrah!!!!

Good luck to all those on the front lines .

HI All !

Sorry don't seem to get much time to post - can't think why !

Anyway huge congratulations to Mrsmar and Norfolk - hooray !! Well done !
VERY impressed that you managed to get online Mrsmar - enjoy your new lo and look forward to seeing pics soon.

Kinki - sorry you've had so much to cope with - glad you have some lee -way with money worries now but I do think your visitors should be a bit more sensitive !?They should be looking after you and making your DC'S tea not the other way round !! I have been very lucky as my neighbours have been taking my DD'S to school and one of them brought round a lovely lasagne for us the other day.

Plp - love to you and little Cerys. Hope your DH is feeling ok with everything ?

HIWBB - not long now til the big day !!

love to everyone else too xx

EmLouT · 14/09/2007 13:07

Hello ladies,

I have to confess I haven't had time to catch up on the threads but I just wanted to pop in to say hello and congratulations to all the new mummies!

I am absolutely shattered but Timothy (who is finally asleep) is a joy and I feel so lucky.

Will post soon. Take care everyone.

Holly29 · 14/09/2007 17:43

I am now officially very jealous - it feels like everyone has had their babies and I just can't wait to meet mine! Six days to go until my CS...

Congrats to all the new Mum, fab names, MrsMar for a second when I was reading your post I was convinced that you had called your baby Mar, and I was just pondering whether that was an Italian name, but now I see that it is not his name... (silly pg brain again!).

Dal thanks so much for your tips on CS, it is just so helpful knowing that someone has been through it, and I completely agree on getting out of jim jams, that always makes me feel better in real life, so hopefully it will make me feel better in hospital too. Ryan is such a fab name, by the way!

love to everyone. x

MrsFish · 14/09/2007 18:42

I'm jealous too Holly, and I have to wait for what could conceivably be up to another month

Norfolkbumpkin · 14/09/2007 19:35

Thanks chums for your kind messages, I feel a bit more with it today on my second day at home. The hospital agreed to discharge me on the understanding that a district nurse or the community midwife would attend daily to change my dressings on the c/section cut. the midwife came round this afternoon and said she is not allowed to deal with wounds/infections etc as this is not compatible with then looking after the babies. She spoke to the district nurse before coming round and they both came to the decision that I or dh should be able to change my dressings with no problems without either of them coming round. I wouln't be at all happy with this if it wasn't for the fact that I fortunately have a follow up appointment at hospital next Tuesday to see if the area is healing. I was given two options prior to laving hosspital; I could either go home with dressings which would need changing every day or I could stay put and they would take me to theatre that afternoon, give me a general anaesthetic, clean out the area and re-stitch. I opted to go home as I panicked at the thought of who would feed Kate when I was in theatre and in recovery afterwards. My midwife said this afternoon that in all honesty I should prepare myself for the second option to be done if the hosptal are not satisfied with progress, and it would be a good idea to express some milk and freeze it just incase.
Any way on to nicer things, we have read up on the meaning of the name Kate Thea and it means 'Pure goddess' sounds perfect to me......

toadstool · 14/09/2007 20:35

Many congratulations to FioFio, MrsMar and Norfolkbumpkin!
Norfolk, I'm very sorry you and Kate Thea are having such a tough time. Hope you won't have to go in for a restitch.
PLP, best of good vibes to Cerys!

Saw consultant this morning, the usual downbeat stuff, "if the labour proves manageable, if we can cope without having to give you an induction", etc., cheers, guys. but the LO is 2/5ths engaged so there's a good chance things may get going sooner rather than later! This being said I made the mistake of looking up images of birthing stools online last night, oh dear, OK so some were medieval, but others were allegedly available in the

kinki · 15/09/2007 09:21

Good luck kyala, hoping all goes well for you. Keep us posted if you can!

MrsBumblebee · 15/09/2007 14:34

Bloody hell Kyala, I can't believe you're posting in the middle of established labour ! Well, they do say you should do things to distract yourself from the pain . Anyway, I hope everything goes/has gone brilliantly, and look forward to hearing your news.

I've just come back from a lovely walk in a deer park and a very large pub lunch. Feeling very sleepy. Might have to have a nap while DH watches the rugby.

canadianmum · 15/09/2007 15:29

Norfolk - glad it seems to be under control, hope you don't need the restitch either but at least they are keeping an eye on things.

kyala - well done you! can't wait to hear how it all turned out.

40 weeks today and feeling a bit odd emotionally, not sure what to do with myself so have done 4 loads of laundry, made some cheese sauce, had a nap and am now surfing. Am having period pains regularly but they couldn't be called contractions. Ho hum, could still be here next week with a huge tummy and no baby......

Gone a bit quiet on this board, funny that!

Chattyhan · 15/09/2007 16:56

Hi everyone - i can't believe how quiet the board is - the shortest catch up ever!

Norfolk - echo the others in that i hope you don't need to go back in! Sending lots of healing vibes your way!

Kyala - hope things are going well and look forward to hearing your news

Well my due date is tomorrow and no sign of labour yet my DS was born on his due date so i think it's highly unlikely it will happen again!

Much love to everyone xx

kyala · 15/09/2007 17:09

Hello again ladies!
I'm back at home now, established labour petered off at some point this morning (due to me actually falling asleep, I was THAT tired LOL) and when I woke it was non-existent

So, as it happens now, contractions are very rare and I'm bored out of my brain once again [raspberry face]

So, so far, the story goes something like this:
2am Friday morn; stage one contractions, decided to make bread as I realised there was non in the house and if things went quickly my little bro would be called upon to look after DD, but if there's no bread in the house what will they eat for lunch. . . so breadmaker went on (knew we kept it for a reason LOL)

8pm Friday; Finally labour seems to be establishing itself! After having spent some time at IL's dropping DD off and having had dinner we decide now's the time to go home/hospital.
8:30 pm Friday; Get to Hospital, get checked in, and settled. Midwives being absolutely lovely, despite having to put in a canular (?!! spelling) whcih is probably one of the most painful things I've expierienced! (I know birth is very painful but that's a pain that you build up to, not just being stabbed in the arm!!)
Went for a walk, munched chocolate, watched TV and surfed the net for a bit

12am Saturday; MW asks if I'd like an inspection of cervix to see how far I am, I say "yes", and nearly die from the pain of that too! (At this point I realise that, despite tatoos and piercings I am a WIMP!)
Anywho, I'm 3 cm dilated (yay!) so, at best birth should be 7 am, judging from the 1cm per hour rule!
By 3am both DH and I are getting V tired, my contractions are right on target, having to really concentrate on most of them but still having the odd one or two that aren't too bad.
MW suggests trying to get some sleep, DH goes home to get some himself (we live approx 1 minute from Hospital btw, so he hasn't abandonned me!)
8:30 am; MW wakes me for brekkie!
Watch a bit more TV and MW comes to check on me again (about 10:30 ish).
My contractions have nigh on dissappeared so she says I can go home and enjoy the weather!

So, that's my little adventure! Am very very very annoyed that I'm still pregnant and that I don't have my new baby
DH decided to tell me that his mum had a similar expierience with him, but ended up giving birth a whole week later! (Yes, cos that's exactly what I want to hear!! LOL)
And due to my water's not breaking at any point this could happen to me, but I wont stand for it, you hear?!! DH suggested going next door and asking them for a crochet hook to break waters

Missing DD like crazy atm, everywhere I looked earlier there seemed to be little blonde haired girls Doubt very much that DH would agree to take me to his parent's to see her either but he has gone out to get bananas, for banana loaf, and some cheesecake

Right, this post has turned into, yet another, me me me post I'm getting good at those!
I hope you're all having a better time than I am! And good luck to anyone else who's in labour and what-not (you are all officially allowed to start your contractions now, but no having any more babies before me!! )

40+3
xxx

ccpink · 15/09/2007 17:10

Quiet is an understatement. It makes me feel even more that everyone else is busy with babies and we're still waiting. 38 + 4 for me now so could still be a way to go.
kyala I'm sure you can't still be on here but good luck if it's a long one!
canadian - period pains sound very promising
norfolk - hope your nether regions are healing without restitch
chatty - take consolation you'll almost defo have action before me!!!
cc

ccpink · 15/09/2007 17:14

kyala - you are still here!!! sorry you are so disappointed -great to hear the actual details of what they do though. mw's sound really nice. I suppose you should just rest, eat cheese cake and watch x-factor

Holly29 · 15/09/2007 18:23

I think we need a 'we haven't had our babies and are dead envious of those who have' support thread...
Ho hum. Let's think of some good things about still being pregnant.

  • we're getting as much sleep as we want!

  • I can go out for dinner with my DH tonight without getting a babysitter?

Er, who am I kidding? I can't wait!

canadianmum · 15/09/2007 19:19

holly29 - I am struggling to think of positives too, although DH is hoping I can hang on until tues night so I guess I should be happy for him.....

kyala - oh dear! what strange things our bodies do, you must feel very out of sorts now. Hope it all kicks off again soon and then you have a really easy painless labour to make up for it! Those canulas are a b**ch aren't they?

chatty - you never know, it could still all kick off for you tomorrow......hope it does

For those of you who can't be bothered to check this board because you are too busy looking after your already arrived babies - a big fat raspberry . Seriously, hope the babies are all really well and mums are recovering beautifully.

canadianmum - 40!!!!!

kinki · 15/09/2007 19:44

I'm still checking! I need my regular dose of sanity to save me from this mad house!

So you want some reasons why its good to still be pregnant? Ummm, let me see....

Well I was about to reel off the not so good aspects of being a new mum, but you'd know I don't really mean it. But maybe I have one real reason why its good to still be pregnant.... earlier today I half jokingly said to dh 'go screw yourself' when he was taking the micky out of me. His response was 'well I might as well, because that's the best I'm getting at the moment'. Gulp. I think he was joking back. So there's a reason for you, you can still get all loved up. Cos believe me, it ain't happening for a while after the baby comes!!!

Tinkjon · 15/09/2007 19:46

Hi all, adding my birth announcement Will Alexander born on 13th September, weighing 7 12. Am just about upright at the moment - cor, i'd forgotten how hard this was Really struggling with feeding at the moment - when I say that Will wants to eat 24 hours a day I'm not exaggerating! Congrats to everybody else who delivered whilst I was away - MrsMar, have you decided on Luca for definite? Any news from Hayley? Hope everybody else is still hanging in there - baby-out vibes to the rest of you!

Chattyhan · 15/09/2007 19:52

I've just had a show! i won't be pregnant forever the baby will be hear soon well within a week!

MrsFish · 15/09/2007 20:05

Hi all, I'll apologise now for not catching up with everyone individually but I'm knackered

Hope those that are due/overdue get going soon

Had a nice day today, went out for a drive in the country, stopped for lunch and looked round an old house Haddon Hall its very near to where I live but I'd never been, so thats ticked off my list now This lo has been very active today, probably because of all the movement from the car on the bendy country lanes, especially with dh driving, its been quite uncomfortable actually the bh have been very uncomfortable too. I feel huge and ungainly and ready to pop.

(38 weeks tomorrow)
