@sunshine8888 she is gorgeous!

I am due 4th May, but I don't think he will arrive before then (even though that would be nice as we are very ready!)

So exciting we will have some more babies born in this group in the next few weeks

november90 · 13/04/2020 09:57

Awwww @Sunshine8888 she's so beautiful! Love the little jojo sleepsuit as well! 😍

So I woke up early today and starting reading too much into the coronavirus and now I'm stressed. I really don't want anything to stop me BF the baby when he's born!!! I have my hospital app tomorrow and I'm worried about going in :(

Babymamma192 · 13/04/2020 12:24

@Sunshine8888 she's beautiful! Glad to hear your both home.

Does everyone have names for their new arrivals? I have a DD called Daisy and I'm thinking of Iris for this baby....DH isn't sure but has no other suggestions!
What's everyone's opinion...do you think it goes with daisy or is it too floral?

Raindancer411 · 13/04/2020 14:39

My mum is called iris and I like it, but maybe I am bias 😂

GinUnicorn · 13/04/2020 14:47

I love Iris.

I was thinking about Lila for a girl and maybe Caspian for a boy. We think it’s a girl though as my growth scans kind of gave the game away!

sao81 · 13/04/2020 16:29

@babymamma192 I love Iris! I'm thinking Lucas for my little boy. My daughter is Lois and think they sound lovely together, my partner had to make a joke though about me thinking I'm kris Kardashian having matching initials 🙄😂

I love iris! It is SUCH a pretty name and goes so well with Daisy.
I'm torn between 2 names. My ex doesn't like one of them, but it is the one I seem to be connecting a lot more too 😩 he's been so absent from my pregnancy I feel like picking the name on my own but I know that isn't the right thing to do!

woollycat · 13/04/2020 18:59

Lovely to hear you are back at home @Sunshine8888, with your partner and surrounded by comfort. Enjoy this special time 😍

woollycat · 13/04/2020 19:02

We have a first name decide since 16 weeks when we found out the gender, but still working on a middle name - that one is my husband's job :)

We finished writing our birth preference document today, next task is to pack a hospital back but I have been procrastinating on that one for a while now.

Saoirse7 · 14/04/2020 07:50

Glmorous post warning..Blush

Can anyone send a link to the type of pants recommended after birth and size (usually a 10. I planned to get cheapies in Primark but obviously that's a no go.

Any links to mat pads would be good too, sold out everywhere I look 😓 failing getting them would normal pads - the night version suffice?

sao81 · 14/04/2020 08:23

@saoirse7 www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2627784_c101/5-pack-full-knickers-black I got these in the next size up for myself, I haven't bought maternity pads but ive bought disposable pants similar to tena lady instead for the first few days instead! Normal pads may be itchy if you have stitches etc so I'd try the pants or keep looking for maternity pads

sazzlerazzle · 14/04/2020 08:32

@Saoirse7 are you in UK? It looks like boots has maternity pads in stock right now

november90 · 14/04/2020 09:53

I used the boots maternity pads last time and have them again for this time. They're ginormous but oh my god you'll need them 😂
I also got the M&S no VPL full briefs. They're so unglam, but so comfy... just what you'll be needed with a huge maternity pad 🤦🏼‍♀️

november90 · 14/04/2020 09:53

I have my scan and app today! Please can everyone keep their fingers crossed they don't tell me the baby is 8lbs already 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

sao81 · 14/04/2020 10:05

@november90 good luck! Xx

Thanks for the tips girls! Will look into the Boots mat pads here hope they're still in stock!

Good luck November90!

How’s everyone’s antenatal care been lately? I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. Currently 35+1.
Asked midwife about birth plan, was told this was something antenatal classes cover. Antenatal classes now cancelled so I asked midwife again, she just gave me a sheet to fill out but I don’t understand half the stuff on it (I was hoping I could speak to someone to ask questions and know my options, eg forceps delivery etc).
No health visitor contact (I was told they would come round my house at 32 weeks to check everything is ok)
Appointments cancelled so I’m unsure if the baby is pointing the right way?
No contact from hospital about what happens re birth partners or when to go to hospital...
Sorry I’m freaking out today - I thought my waters had gone last night and it’s put in perspective how unprepared I feel 😱

woollycat · 14/04/2020 13:26

@CharlieB93 do you still have your 36w appointment? My 34w one was cancelled but 36w one is going ahead as far as I know. That's when they check baby's position.

Lu1u · 14/04/2020 13:52

@CharlieB93 sounds like you had a stressful day yesterday! Hope you are ok today.

I had my 36 week appointment as planned (at 36w+5) but my 34 week appointment was cancelled. My midwife said that all appointments will now be kept as normal in my trust ( I am in the SW, Hampshire) so I will have one at 38, 40 and 41 weeks. Can you call your midwife/GP surgery to find out what is happening with Antenatal appointments in your area?

About the birth plan, don't panic. The NHS website has a great section on birth preferences, pros and cons of interventions and stuff like that-
www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/how-to-make-birth-plan/

I'm sure if you had specific questions someone on here can signpost you to helpful websites as well!

All health visitor appointments in my area have been cancelled/no face to face contact. If your area is the same, they will send your babies red book in the post (mine arrived last week and I am coming up to 38 weeks soon). When I had my first, the appointment was for them to introduce themselves and explain their role and the red book and also any helpful websites. Nothing particularly ground breaking!

Your hospital trusts website should have the information required about birth partners and changes to provisions/services due to Covid. If you Google "hospital name maternity services" it should come up.

Hope some of the above helps Flowers

Oops link above for birth plan stuff!

Caspianberg · 14/04/2020 14:14

@Sunshine8888 - so sweet. We have bought the same babygrow also for our little boy. (and the cute hat)

We have narrowed names down to 2 now I think. And need to decide middle names still. Think we will make final decision when he arrives.

Rebecca612 · 14/04/2020 14:21

I just got back from my 34 week appointment- they rang this morning to change it from 5.40 to 11.30 in a different location as well as they’re now officially short on midwives. I asked about the birth plan as I’m potentially having a preterm c-section and was told that I had to go through it with my consultant. They booked me in for my 36 week appointment as well. Not sure if I need to be seen because I’m deemed high risk so I asked if any appointments had been cancelled and the midwife said no, they’re all being rescheduled etc. We’ve been told that currently we’re getting one health visitor visit for the heel prick test and they’ll give us guidance on what to look out for with the hearing tests and then I have no idea. I’m imagining weighing the baby on my kitchen scales haha how will they know they’re maintaining a healthy weight etc? I’m sure it will all be fine but it’s just all the unknowns isn’t it?

CharlieB93 · 14/04/2020 14:24

Thank you so much for that info, yes 36 week appointment is next week (hopefully it doesn’t get cancelled) it just hit me all at once last night. I was just thinking omg it could happen anytime and I have no idea what I’m doing 🤦‍♀️ I think I’ve been living in this little bubble working from home for the last 3 weeks and it’s just dawned on me I’m 35 weeks 😂
My midwife is lovely but she’s not very helpful at all, I asked about replacement antenatal classes and she said to watch YouTube videos 😂
With interventions in labour - can you actually say if it comes to it, I’d rather have csection than forceps? I only ask because a friend had forceps and it damaged her pelvic floor so she’s incontient. I know it’s not guaranteed to happen to everyone but the thought of long term damage does frighten me!

CharlieB93 · 14/04/2020 14:25

@Rebecca612 yes that’s exactly it - it’s the unknown !

Caspianberg · 14/04/2020 14:28

Interestingly, I live in another European country, and at last scan spoke to Gynaecologist here about options ie forceps, c-section etc as no classes available. He was shocked forceps are still in use in the UK and said they are 'medieval' and haven't been used here for years..
