@flissity I'm breach too! I'm 36 weeks on Monday and he's measuring large so I think we've missed the boat for him turning naturally!
Thanks for your reassurance @sao81 it honestly did make me feel a lot better!
@Caspianberg are you being induced due to size? Congrats on being full term wohooo!!!!

MrsWhy · 10/04/2020 09:02

Hi ladies
Been reading for a while but not commented. Had a fairly easy time up to now.
I
Am also due on the 26th but not seen a midwife since 28 weeks so I have no idea how big baby is or where he is laying although he is definitely alive and kicking 🥰
Quick question have your breast continued to grow? Mine haven't grown in about 6 weeks, they are not sore and not leaking. I'd like to breastfeed, should I be concerned?

sazzlerazzle · 10/04/2020 09:29

@GinUnicorn I had a call yesterday too, telling me they were stopping home births because of Covid-19. I cried so much, I think everything just hit me yesterday. When are you due? Is there a chance things might change before your due date?

woollycat · 10/04/2020 09:40

@MrsWhy same here, I don't think there is a link between breast size and breastfeeding, so please don't worry :)

I know it's disappointing that home birth is off the table but we can definitely still have a positive birth experience at the hospital / birth centre. We just need to rewire the brain to think positively about it and prepare. I can't recommend the Hypnobirthing book / online course enough. It has made me feel a lot more at ease.

AlmostAlwyn · 10/04/2020 12:23

@MrsWhy definitely nothing to be worried about! I didn't leak before my first was born and they didn't get much bigger either, but I'm still breastfeeding him so no correlation there Smile

Currently 36+2 so getting there! I think the quarantine restrictions here will start to be relaxed after Easter, so that's good news. I wasn't expecting a home or water birth so only current changes to my birth plan are my parents can't visit unfortunately. If there's even a slight chance in a month though, my mum will have her foot in the door! Grin So looks like it'll be down to my mother-in-law, who's a bit more nervous about the prospect of coping with my son when he's upset, especially at night (he's never spent the night apart from me). I'm just trying to be calm about it and I know it'll only be a short time - and YouTube will be a lifesaver!

Eyes on the prize, people! Grin

helpasisterout · 10/04/2020 12:52

Anyone else been referred for a growth scan? I'm 34+2 and midwife this morning says measuring a bit small so got a growth scan on Monday to check - she also couldn't establish the lie of the baby either. I'm not too worried as heartbeat and movements still good just feel it's all a bit unknown!

sazzlerazzle · 10/04/2020 13:22

@helpasisterout Im sure everything is fine, the bump measurements are so inaccurate really. I had a growth scan at around 30 weeks and turns out baby was growing really well, it was just the bump measurement which threw things off x

Clairesoph · 10/04/2020 13:28

Dunno about you girls but I am sitting out enjoying the sun (and peace whilst my toddler naps) and all I can think about is an ice cold Malibu and coke 🤤 bigger things going on in the world I know, but ugh 😫

Caspianberg · 10/04/2020 13:35

@november90 - nope, no mention of being induced. He has been measuring 2-4 weeks ahead since the beginning.

We have scans every 4 weeks where I live so have had lots of monitoring.
Had last 36 week scan at GP with consultant last week, and now on hospital scans every week or few days from next week. So far i have avoided going to the hospital so DH has been to all appointments. At hospital next week he won't be allowed in. Not sure what they actually check and scan for at 37+ weeks onwards, but they scan throughout labour here as well

Rebecca612 · 10/04/2020 13:43

@Clairesoph same! Although my tipple of choice is prosecco so I had to get some Nosecco this morning and going to crack it open later and pretend I’m on a jolly 😅 I was fine without alcohol except over Xmas and recently. I think it’s the nice weather and knowing I’m on the final countdown now. Everyone is telling me how often they drink to ‘get through the stresses of a lockdown’ - try being pregnant, having that as an additional stress and not being able to have that lovely glass of wine to chill out haha!

helpasisterout · 10/04/2020 13:47

@sazzlerazzle thank you for the reassurance that seems to be the general concencus just going to try and view it as another opportunity to see baby before it is here with us! X

sazzlerazzle · 10/04/2020 13:50

@helpasisterout exactly! It’s so lovely seeing baby again :)

woollycat · 10/04/2020 13:58

@helpasisterout I had one around 24 weeks too - bump was measuring really small but the scan showed babg measuring at 52nd percentile. So yeah again the bump measurement was just really inaccurate.

november90 · 10/04/2020 14:03

Oh really! I wonder if they got your due date wrong? I only say that because my friend was the same and they told her that they miscalculated her due date literally 2 weeks before she had her little boy yesterday!
My first was 9lbs4oz and I'm concerned this one will be bigger 🙈 does anyone know if in the Uk I can request an earlier c section/induction to my due date if He is measuring large following my scan next week?

GinUnicorn · 10/04/2020 14:14

@sazzlerazzle I know me too. Literally left my appointment to go cry in the toilets. Feels like all my choices have been taken away. I planned a home birth but if not I wanted a water birth and currently neither are possible. I’m also going to ask to switch hospitals as the one I’m assigned too is awful. My GP covers 2 but as I planned a home birth previously I didn’t care before. Just really stressed right now. I’m not due until May 21 so hoping maybe it will be different by then. Hope you are okay Flowers

flissity · 10/04/2020 14:37

@helpasisterout had a growth scan yesterday. As was measuring 28 at 33 weeks. Just turned out my bump is small, baby is on 20th percentile.

@november90 what’s your plan with your breech? I am just going to try everything to get mine to turn. It’s fairly small so I’m in with a Chance. Will you try an ECV?

sazzlerazzle · 10/04/2020 14:48

Thanks @GinUnicorn I’m doing ok apart from that hiccup in our plan but the birth centre at the hospital is nice so I’m staying positive. I’m almost 38 weeks so not long now!

As far as I’m aware you can choose any hospital you want, regardless of where you live or what your GP does (someone correct me if I’m wrong!)

GinUnicorn · 10/04/2020 15:22

@sazzlerazzle thanks. I think you are right about choosing hospitals it’s just usually done earlier. Fingers crossed as the other one is so much nicer.

Good luck to you with everything. It’s so tough with all our happy plans changing.

Caspianberg · 10/04/2020 15:49

@november90 - I have no idea. I kept asking if the due date can change, and they insist whatever they based scan on at 10-12 weeks is the final official date. 2nd May. But for example scan last week shows all measurements put date as 19th April!
Have another scan in 5 days, so will see what they say then.

Been for a 3km walk loop this afternoon in woods behind house, and made lots of hot cross buns. Hoping if I walk lots he might have shifted lower down by next week (although they haven't said so far if he is low or not, just he is head down)

GinUnicorn · 10/04/2020 19:04

@helpasisterout @woollycat My bump is measuring on the 2nd percentile but still my last growth scan baby was on the 40% line so try not to worry. I know it’s scary. Flowers

AlmostAlwyn · 10/04/2020 19:53

@Caspianberg if it's like here, with my first pregnancy I transferred to the hospital at 36 or 37 weeks or so and they just continued doing the same checks that I'd been having at my gynaecologist. So I don't think they'll check anything specific or different at the hospital really.

They've changed the rules here now though (not CV related, I suppose to reduce the workload for hospitals), and my doctor said on Monday that I can continue going there for checks and just go to the hospital for the birth, which would suit me fine!

mrsf1204 · 10/04/2020 22:39

Hi all, anyone else here still carrying really high?! 35 weeks nearly and this baby is basically in my chest! I have such a high bump and breathing is becoming so difficult! We don't know the gender, all I know is he / she isn't dropping yet!

Saoirse7 · 11/04/2020 07:32

Girls, what did you wear/planning to wear for labour? I was thinking short sleeved maternity pyjamas and then taking off the bottoms when I go to delivery suite. I don't usually wear nighties. Would I need two sets of jammies? First time mum so more likely to be in overnight.

MrsF1204 I'm about 3 weeks behind you do mine hasn't dropped yet, although I feel your pain. My midwife said to expect around week 36.

Moonstone12 · 11/04/2020 07:35

@november90 hey. My last baby was 10lb4oz and I've been monitored for growth since 25 weeks this time (I was measuring 34 weeks at 25 😅)
I'm now 37 weeks tomorrow and my scan 2 days ago predicted baby to be 7lb3oz already.
There had been talk of an early induction by the midwives but the consultant has said no so far :( I've tried to push it as I don't want another 10lber but it seems it maybe a postcode lottery as to whether they will give you that.

However I am having a sweep at 38+ weeks when I next see the consultant and I may well ask again about being induced around 39 weeks if possible. But who knows if they will let me.

I'm lucky that baby is head down and already 3/5ths engaged so there maybe a chance she will make an appearance on her own but I won't get my hopes up as my 3rd was 16 days late....

If yours is breech (I think you said it was) and doesn't turn they may well look at a c section - but again I think that depends on hospital policy. I was told ours prefer c's for breech but obviously you can ask to try for natural.

I'm now counting down the days left till due date (22) and trying not to symptom spot. I'm so ready for my little girl to arrive now but I have to remember that my boy was so so late I could be pregnant still in 5 weeks time. I wish I could just enjoy the end of this pregnancy but with everything going on at the moment and the fact I feel so bloody unwell and large I am struggling to stay positive 😕

Hope your ladies are enjoying the sunshine this weekend. Stay safe x

Moonstone12 · 11/04/2020 07:39

@Saoirse7 I've worn my partners old baggy tees to birth in. They can just be binned then (they will get messy). This time I have a cheap large vest top from primark.
Then just chuck on joggers and a top after. With the amount of bleeding you get after and the chance of leakages I wouldn't worry about nice pjs or anything. Plus joggers/leggings are comfy for after. Xx
