Omg is anyone else literally ravenous all the time! A lot of it is boredom, but dear god I'm so hungry! I daren't weigh myself and I'm dreading the baby's growth scan next week 🙈 I'm just SO hungry and all I want is chocolate and hot cross buns and pure orange juice 😩😩😩😩😩😩

november90 · 06/04/2020 22:10

I just want chocolate, oranges, pure orange juice, ice cream, hot cross buns and biscuits!!!!!!!

november90 · 06/04/2020 22:11

I was having an early night but I'm just sat here thinking about how hungry I am and how gutted I've eaten so much today meaning I can't have anymore treats!!!!

AlmostAlwyn · 06/04/2020 22:31

@Sunshine8888 congratulations! Well done you! Flowers

I did perineal massage in my first pregnancy on my doctor's recommendation... Well, my husband did it for me! Blush Don't know if it helped at all as I had an episiotomy in the end (not convinced it was needed, but who knows). Almost 36 weeks now and haven't really tried it this time.

@november90 I shared a giant bar of Milka chocolate with my husband this afternoon. Hot cross buns sound SO GOOD. Can't get them here though. I did make two batches of scones and a stack of pancakes last week though Grin

May2311 · 07/04/2020 11:12

@Sunshine8888 Huge congratulations!! Hope you and little one are doing well. Absolutely beautiful name. You were finishing for maternity that day weren’t you? I bet that was a bit of a surprise. Xxx

Hey everyone 😊 Sorry I haven’t been on for weeks. The whole Covid stuff was stressing me so I have been taking time off the internet as the different rumours were stressing me out. Hope everyone is managing ok.

I saw midwife last week who has explained that every single trust( even some hospitals in the same trust!) have different rules depending on how busy the other departments are with Covid so to not listen to rumours. The other thing she said is things are changing daily so try not to get too worked up on the details- so that’s what I’m trying to do!

I have a question for those of you who have been told baby is breech- where are you feeling the kicks/movements? My little one has been head down for weeks but decided to change last week( cheeky chops!) If she hasn’t changed by next Wednesday I’ll have a scan and we will go from there to look at birth options. From what I can tell I actually think she is across my belly now 🙄

Also what birth options have you been offered? Have you been offered an ECV to try and turn baby? Anyone had one of these previously?

Looking forward to starting to see more baby announcements as we get closer to May!
Xxxxx

november90 · 07/04/2020 11:39

@May2311
My baby is still breach! I can feel his head move a lot at the top and a lot of movements around my belly button and right side but that's it really!
I was supposed to be having a consultation and scan at 36 weeks next week but I've just had a missed call from the hospital so I'm expecting that they are going to cancel it. He's been breach for most of the pregnancy so I've been trying to prepare myself for a c section but I have no idea where I stand and I'll feel so deflated if my app is cancelled :( my tummy is measuring large but I've been told the measurements aren't accurate with a breach baby due to their positioning so the scan was to check his size too :( but anyway, I'll have to wait until they call back :)

It's exciting isn't it, the fact we'll be having lost of baby announcements soon! I can't wait to see who's next (hopefully not me, I don't have my pram yet, haha!)

Hopefully everyone is keeping well :)
So far on the chocolate binge today I've had 2 Freddos and a chocolate hobnob 🤦🏼‍♀️😩

Rebecca612 · 07/04/2020 11:41

@May2311 my little one is the same - been head down since 20 week scan and last week’s growth scan showed that the little one is breech! I feel lots of kicks on my left hip which isn’t comfy at all! I have to have a c section because I’m having a cystectomy at the same time so I don’t have the option of ECV as they’re worried that my cyst could burst.

How many weeks are you? My friend successfully flipped her baby by bouncing on a birthing ball in the evenings for a week (she’s adamant that’s what did it) in time for a natural delivery! X

123Pandy · 07/04/2020 11:45

@Sunshine8888 congratulations on your new arrival! 🥰

Helensss · 07/04/2020 12:40

@Sunshine8888 huge congratulations! 💕💕

May2311 · 07/04/2020 13:04

@november90 ahh that sounds like me then a lot Of movement over the belly button area and quite a few kicks right in my bladder! Hopefully they don’t cancel it - they may just make it phone appointment. They need to have some plan for you!!

@Rebecca612 35 weeks so I know there is still time for her to flip! It’s strange I am quite easy about the birth/labour not worried about it tbh. My main concern/dislike about the whole thing is it not being planned/a set day I’ll go into labour 😂 therefore since I found out she is breech a c sec birth has appealed to me as I would know when she is arriving. I don’t feel like that’s a good enough reason to want a c sec though and don’t want to regret not doing what I can for a natural delivery( eg trying ECV if it’s offered) - does that make sense? I suppose I just need to wait and see what they suggest and do some more research into ECV! Xxx

May2311 · 07/04/2020 13:05

@november90 ps- I’m into the choccie at the moment as well!! My problem is it makes me feel so ill after I’ve eaten it 😂😂 I just don’t learn!! Xx

Sunshine8888 · 07/04/2020 15:56

Thank you everyone! Yes my due date was 2 May and I was meant to start maternity on 16 April 😂Coralie has been moved to special care and I’ve been discharged from the ward into a NICU flat. The only thing keeping us from going home is feeding. My milk hasn’t come in, I’m pumping and trying to feed every 3 hours and it is exhausting!! So she’s on a feeding tube and being topped up with formula. I’ve just got to keep trying but finding it so hard. Wish me luck ....

The birth was a bit traumatic because it was such a shock. I had visited day assessment at 4pm because i soaked my underwear and worried it was my waters. They checked internally and said it was discharge and sent me home. Then at 6pm I felt a huge pop and my waters broke everywhere! I rang the hospital and they said to monitor it for an hour. In that hour I ran round like a maniac trying to pack a hospital bag and by then the contractions were coming fast. Got to hospital at 8pm and she was born at 10.26pm! It happened too quickly to have any pain relief so had to rely on gas and air. Also had a episiotomy so feeling quite sore. My husband has to wait in the car park - he was allowed in when I was 9cm so he was there for the birth and had to leave 2 hours after. He’s not allowed to visit me or Coralie. It’s been pretty tough and there’s been a lot of tears but just trying to stay strong and do what I need to do to get us home. X

mintbear · 07/04/2020 16:48

@Sunshine8888 sending you lots of virtual hugs. Sounds like you had a really hard time of it and now having baby in nicu without your partner must be really tough. I cannot imagine.
You've got a lot of support on here if you want/need it.
Your baby girl looks beautiful, well done you xx

Saoirse7 · 07/04/2020 18:45

Where gave you been getting baby clothes (at a reasonable price)? Online stores off the beaten track.

Tried all the main places (M&S, H&M, Very etc) and most are out of Newborn and 0-3 😓

Purple29 · 07/04/2020 19:07

@sunshine8888 I know the feeling about the struggles with expressing and getting volume established. Especially now when stress is a factor.

The best tips that seemed to work for me were cover the bottles, I used scratch mits, cause staring at them waiting for milk to fill up added to my stress.

Then I found a routine where I did an express at about 3am, then I did 6, and 9, about 11 and 2, 5 and half 7 (so before and after breakfast, lunch and dinner) then last one before bed at 10, just after. That way still getting a good 4 and a half hours rest and easier to get in the 8 times to establish feeds.

Sorry if you know this already or your having to do it differently. X

123Pandy · 08/04/2020 00:07

@Saoirse7 I got mine from John Lewis online. They had a few options for newborns and delivered within 2-3 days..might be worth a try

facevalue · 08/04/2020 00:17

out of the " vulnerable" groups i feel pregnancy is underestimated and less supported.

My stress is for my baby and family - what do you think ladies? i'm not thinking " oh i'm going to die" but i'm more stressed about how and who will nurture my baby when i'm ill. feeding my baby.. looking after my mental health and trying not to sink into post natal depression due to the sleep deprivation and lack of social contact/ support.

mummies with other kids KNOW we are already shattered now because no childcare and less family support ( with ppl keeping away) .. being terrified of hospitals ( as infectious places)... now when i worry - i avoid calling my midwife because i don't want to be told to come in for a check up!
i'm terrified of queuing in supermarkets ( to protect my unborn baby) then i can't find any delivery slots either

AlmostAlwyn · 08/04/2020 05:23

@Saoirse7 second John Lewis online! They have several options in newborn and 0-3. I loved the babygros they have in Next but didn't get my order in in time before they closed their warehouse unfortunately! I guess I'll just have to wait until they reopen and get bigger sizes Smile

MarshmallowsOnToast · 08/04/2020 08:31

@Saoirse7

Been buying loads of bits & bobs off George ASDA - sometimes the smaller sizes show out of stock but if you check back they get restocked in a day or two.

Good quality & reasonable price.

Raindancer411 · 08/04/2020 09:11

My DH has a friend who works in Sainsbury's and she managed to get me 0-1 month in store. None online...

Caspianberg · 08/04/2020 09:22

Stores that still seem good online:
Natural baby shower
Zara
Alex and alexa
Aldi.co.uk - have online and deliver for cheap multi packs/sleepsuits/muslins

Saoirse7 · 08/04/2020 10:37

Thanks girls, had looked forward to browsing the rails for all my bits and pieces but unfortunately have to resort to buying all online now!

Will take a look now. Hope you're all feeling well Smile

facevalue · 08/04/2020 13:07

ladies - anyone decided to be brave enough to go in and have a baby alone?

my mum is trying to convince me to just go for it and save my husband the risk of catching it and for him to just stay home with my toddler - to spare my over 70 in laws exposure too..

i'm not sure i will cope and if something goes wrong shouldn't my husband be there as my advocate to make sure our baby is ok if god forbid something did happen to me?!

or am i being too crazy

Lu1u · 08/04/2020 13:31

@sunshine8888 congratulations! Coralie is a beautiful name, I hope you are both doing well and hopefully your milk comes in soon which will make things a little easier with pumping. Wishing you all the best X

Lu1u · 08/04/2020 13:44

@facevalue I am! I have a 19 month old and the original plan was for my mum/my MIL to have him when I go into labour but that's out the window as my mum is NHS and my MIL is isolating.

Our plan at the moment is if it's day time/convenient my partner will drive me to hospital with our son, then wait outside till it's confirmed I am staying in and then I labour/give birth alone. If it's during the night or dinner time or something to minimise disruption for our son I will call my parents and they will drop me at hospital which is about a 20 min journey in the back of their car (again waiting outside till it's confirmed I am staying in) and then again labour/birth alone.

I have chosen the options that mean the least amount of possible contact for me/my family with others which I am comfortable with. I am pretty happy to labour alone though because my partner was quite frankly shit at being a birth partner, he found the whole experience terrifying and over whelming despite going to antenatal classes (but my first labour was very long and not the nicest) so I got all the reassurance/support from the midwives that I needed. I am due from the 4th May so still potentially weeks away so I am trying not to stress too much about it, as who knows what rules/social distancing measures will be in place by then!
