DS1's IUGR was casued by a failing palcenta as well- side effect of rpe-eclampsia! Had to ahve some very odd scans with ds2 where they emasured blood flow in the placenta- it causes so many problems LOL (yet is clearly such a good thing!)

Lorayn · 25/09/2007 19:30

Ha, yes, if only it didnt sort the food/blood supply to the wee one, how much easier it would be

V1KK1M · 25/09/2007 19:41

Hi and congrats on those that have had good news.

For those who were interested in the book I have it is called "Letters For Tomorrow, A journal for expectant moms and dads". The authors are Robin Freeman Bernstein, M.A., and Cathy Moore, Ph.D. The ISBN 0-385-47515-2. I got mine from E-bay for about £8.

It is an american book but as said before I think it's great! (And even though it is also for Dad's my dh is refusing to wrote in mine.....yet!)

Sorry to barge in but only just saw that Scorpio is expecting! Congrats Scorpio (and everyone else), we were on the TTC boards together briefly .

Egg · 25/09/2007 20:07

Gosh and littlesoldiersmummy and TMP are on here too . Warms my heart .

lorisparkle · 25/09/2007 20:38

Haven't posted for a while and as usual no time for reading back all the posts.

I did notice someone asked about the drinking water and the scan situation with sickness. Well I had my 12 week scan done last pg with no water drunk and not a problem and this time I managed 1 1/2 pints was very sick and the sonographer said not a problem and it wasn't. I think they get a better picture but as this scan is more for measuring and heart beat than for abnormalities then it isn't a problem.

EllieG · 26/09/2007 08:59

Morning all. I just read all the posts but am so tired by the time I came to reply had fogotten what they said, sorry. Feel a bit crap this morning. Think have been overdoing it on eating the fibre to help the constipation cos this morning (sorry if TMI) there was kinda the opposite effect, and tummy is very achey. Have not gained weight this week or last week, and may have lost, and am bit worried that's a bad sign.

Lorayn · 26/09/2007 09:05

EllieG I seem to be losing weight more rapidly now than I was when I was unable to eat and vomiting anything I did eat/drink straight back up, weird. i dont think it is anything to worry about though, your body is changing shape ready to cope with the baby so you'll get a big fat arse but may lose it elsewhere hahaha

Soph73 · 26/09/2007 09:29

Morning all. Had day off work yesterday as still had a little bit of blood Mon afternoon. Slept nearly all day, it was bliss. Tummy ache only slight now and no more blood. Checked on calendar and my period would have been due then so maybe that had something to do with it. Thanks for the words of support, feel a lot better

Soph73 · 26/09/2007 09:30

Egg - I remember you from the TTC boards as well. How are you?

Soph73 · 26/09/2007 09:32

I had an emergency caesarean with DS because I didn´t dilate. Am going to ask midwife whether that´s likely to happen again and if so whether it´s possible to book in for a caesarean - although would love to do it naturally this time.

chipmonkey · 26/09/2007 10:14

Soph, sounds like your period just wasn't suppressed properly. The rest probably did you good as well. . If you would love to go naturally you should probably try. Just because something doesn't work properly on one pg, doesn't mean it won't on the second.

ToastAddict · 26/09/2007 11:15

I've not looked in for a few days - it's lovely to hear lots of good news and celebrity gossip!!!

Hope I don't change the mood too much but I'm quite worried. Monday night I had some bleeding - sorry if TMI - it was bright red and quite "liquid". Yes, that it TMI, sorry.

By yesterday morning it had stopped, just had a bit of pale pink/brown discharge, but spoke to m/w who put me back in touch with EPAC - I have a scan on Friday afternoon and have been told to stay off work for the rest of the week.

Everything is back to normal now, no bleeding, and I am bored at home and thinking about it far too much. I know I'll be a nervous wreck on Friday.

No idea if it is related or not - I hope so - but we had sex on Saturday, so about 48 hours before the bleeding. to say it was the first time we had done it since I found out I was pg as so scared of causing m/c.

Sorry for long post. Just needed to get it all off my chest.

lemonaid · 26/09/2007 11:21

When I had my booking-in appointment last week the midwife had pulled and read through my notes from DS's birth. Apparently the c/s wasn't so much for failure to progress or that he was too big (although he was big... virtually her first words to me were "my word, your son was huge!" ) as that (having started off posterior) he was coming down at an angle, so his head kind of got wedged in my pelvis at an angle where there was no hope of getting it through, but he was so firmly wedged that they decided they didn't stand much chance of turning him into the correct position (they did kind of explain all this at the time, to be fair, but I wasn't in the best frame of mind to take in the details so was left with a very fuzzy idea of what it was all about).

So this apparently means that I should be a good candidate for a successful VBAC this time -- as I got to fully dilated on my own last time she says that the first stage should go relatively quickly and then the second stage may take a while, because that will be the bit I haven't done before. I have an appointment with a consultant to talk the options through at 24 weeks, but it all seems very positive.

lemonaid · 26/09/2007 11:22

Sorry, cross-posted with ToastAddict. Hope everything is OK at the scan, although it's a long time to wait. At least the bleeding's stopped now.

Elfsmummy · 26/09/2007 11:25

TA, I'd def say it can be related to your having had sex, it seems others have had similar experiences further down the thread. Still hopefully on Friday the scan will put everyone's minds at rest. Take care until then.

LOL at "celebrity gossip" I remeber when pregnant with my DD, I saw Martin Johnson in our antenatal clinic with a women, I have no idea if they were pregnant or just visiting or whatever but it did pass through my mind that I wouldn't want to be the women giving birth to a child of his, I don't think you'd sit down again for a year!!

Take care all

Soph73 · 26/09/2007 11:36

Toastaddict - same sort of thing happened to me. Had sex last Friday then bleeding on Monday. Stayed at home yesterday & everything fine now. Let us know how the scan goes. It is boring being at home though & although it's difficult try not to dwell too much {{big hugs}}

lemonaid · 26/09/2007 11:39

Martin Johnson's DD was actually quite small (7lb or so), if I remember correctly from his autobiography. I think she was born just before or just after the 2003 World Cup, if that fits in with your dates...

Lorayn · 26/09/2007 11:49

lemonaid Good to hear you could be having a VBAC, that is probably the one thing I am really caught up on atm.
I had an emergency cs with dd1 but with ds they practically forced me to have an elective cs, I didnt know that it was my choice or that it was even possible!!
Thankfully, I am at a different doctors now, different midwife and different hospital, the midwife and doc were both fine with me wanting to attempt VBA2C now just have to convince the consultant.
Does anyone know how I would go about asking my last hospital to see my birth notes??

EllieG · 26/09/2007 11:51

I'm sooooo tired today ((((wails)))))

Sorry didn't mean to attention-seek by adding twice

lemonaid · 26/09/2007 11:53

To get copy of notes -- most hospitals/PCTs have application forms for you to request this. Have a look on the hospital website, but if you can't see anything there then write to "The Health Records Manager" at the hospital, stating "I wish to make an application for access to my maternity records. I would be grateful if you could send me your Application Form for access to these health records together with any information or guidance sheet you may have to help me make the appliucation."

If they don't have a specific form then write asking for a full copy of all your notes (including computerised records) and all relevant attached documents including letters and laboratory result sheets.

They can charge up to £50 for administration/photocopying, but most hospitals charge a flat fee of around £10-£25. Your notes must be sent to you within 40 days of your asking for them -- the time starts when the record holder receives the fee and enough written information to enable him/her to locate the records.

Lorayn · 26/09/2007 11:54

pfft ellieg youre as bad as a newborn baby, all that attention seeking, I should get claire verity on to you!

EllieG · 26/09/2007 11:55

Am off to eat cake. I think that might help.
