Pregnant with second (or third/fourth/etc) baby, due in/around September 2020

Hi! Is there anyone out there who already has at least one child and expecting another baby in or around September 2020?

I would love to chat to other pregnant mums who have "been there, done that" at least once before...

I am less excited this time, since I know what I'm letting myself in for 🙈 But also very much looking forward to giving my son a sibling. He will be 3.5 when baby is born.

Evening, how is everyone?

Latte
I know what you mean about it not feeling real. When people ask how the pregnancy is going I'm a bit like er what pregnancy?!

Sipper
Belated congrats on your scan being all fine! I can't remember whether you were going to find out the sex or wait and see... or maybe you already had a private scan to find out? (Sorry my memory is bad and I cba to read back 🙈)

A belated hello and welcome to you! Sorry we're a bit quiet on here. Probably all far too busy and exhausted dealing with at least one child and pregnancy during lockdown!
How's your dizziness? I do get it sometimes but only mildly. I had more nausea this time but that's been the only main difference.

Hello @livelyredjellybean I've found I've been really clumsy this time round! I keep burning myself when I'm cooking or tripping over myself! Yesterday I smashed a wine class all over the kitchen! 🤦🏼‍♀️

How are you getting on @NameChange30?

I started looking at some shopping bits online today (guess who sold all her baby stuff a couple of years ago?!) and fell down a rabbit hole of car seats and video monitors!

NameChange30 · 29/04/2020 20:42

Latte
Thanks for asking, I am feeling low atm tbh Sad
I am so clumsy too, what a relief that it's a pregnancy thing and not just me! Come to think of it I might have been clumsy first time around too.

Good luck with your online shopping! I remember going a bit crazy with it all first time around. Luckily we have kept everything to reuse. I will buy a few girly clothes but try not to go mad apart from that!
Tried to treat myself to some maternity PJs and had a nightmare finding some I like that are in stock in my size. I ordered some in the end and spent more than I would have liked but if they are nice it will be worth it.

LatteLover12 · 30/04/2020 17:45

OMG! @namechange30 I'm having a nightmare trying to find pjs too! I saw this today...

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/spot-camisole-maternity-nursing-nightdress-e3864.html

but I'm not convinced I'm a nightie person 😂

I'm sorry you're feeling a bit down. Is it just a general 'life in lockdown' kind of low? Always happy to chat if you want to offload xx

NameChange30 · 30/04/2020 18:11

@LatteLover12

Haha I'm not a nightie person either! (Although they are handy if you have a c-section apparently)
I got so exasperated with my PJ search I ended up asking Mumsnet Grin Here's my thread

Thanks for kind words, I struggle a bit with mental health in pregnancy anyway, but it is definitely "life in lockdown" related atm, this week is tough - the bad weather isn't helping and it all feels a bit relentless Sad

DH and I are going to start planning how to decorate baby's room to cheer ourselves up Smile Can't look in the shops of course but will look online.

OP posts:
LatteLover12 · 30/04/2020 18:18

That sounds like a good plan; something to discus I'm away from the madness we're surrounded by at the minute.

I already know I'm having a section so perhaps a nightie is the way to go! I'm going to look at your thread now 😊

Sipperskipper · 30/04/2020 20:01

@NameChange30 sorry to hear you are feeling low. Lockdown is rubbish at the best of times, but keeping a toddler entertained plus being pregnant just adds to it doesn't it. We are having another girl (had harmony test early on & found out which was a nice bonus!).

Welcome to the thread @livelyredjellybean! congratulations.

Also having a section @LatteLover12 and hate the thought of a nightie!

We don't have a room to decorate for baby. We were supposed to be moving out for a few months last week while our house had some big renovations to give us an extra bedroom & downstairs space too. Needless to say that's all on hold so god knows when there will be the bedrooms we need! DD (and me!) slept so much better when she went into her own room, so I'm keen not to have her in with us for too long....not sure we have much of an option though.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

NameChange30 · 30/04/2020 20:46

Sipperskipper
Ah yes a girl that's lovely (and sorry I forgot!)
Has anyone started shortlisting names yet?!

Very sorry that your renovations have been put on hold, how frustrating when you had it all planned Sad Here's hoping it won't be delayed for too long.

We are planning renovations too but we weren't quite as far along in the process as you so we weren't sure whether we could get it done by September, we definitely won't now! We do have a room for baby but will have to do some reorganisation. With everything else on hold it will be nice to do baby's room at least.

@NameChange30 ha no worries, I barely remember myself some days!

Are you able to add me to the Facebook group? Feel happier to join now I’ve had my 20w scan (if it’s not too late!)

NameChange30 · 01/05/2020 08:48

Sorry I'm not in the Facebook group!

Hey ladies, sorry I've been quiet for a while, not sure how time is going so quickly while lockdown seems to be dragging. Sorry to hear some of you have been feeling rubbish, hope it improves. I'm 18w 5d now and feeling a bit better. Not the constant headaches or sickness now. Still tired, but not sure if that's due to broken sleep or boredom.

I saw your comment on nighties. I'm not a nightie person either but I definitely found them more comfortable as I got bigger and the weather got hotter. I remember last time refusing to pay the maternity prices and just buying some bigger ones from Primark.

Got my 20w scan on wednesday. Cant wait to see baby again and check everything is ok. Really want to find out the sex too. Nub Tech are saying 85% change of girl, so we'll see. Been feeling some movement since I hit 18w so that's helped calm some fears x

Realladymarmalade · 20/05/2020 21:46

Hi ladies

Been on here before... I think ...i am due dc3 29th August. I've been hugely avoiding of pregnancy and baby thoughts. Prob to do with being older and it being a 'planned surprise' and having a massive freak out. Plus like us all dealing with everything ! I had bad PND before and I just now want to try and take steps to prevent this to include :

  1. Stop being in denial and start getting excited
  2. Being more involved in a virtual support network , i.e one if these birth clubs.
I have made life long friends with my lot from my dds birth club from our FB group , known them for 7 years !

(Disclaimer - I have plenty of friends in real life but clearly mat leave will be spent in semi isolation and we won't be accessing baby groups etc f2f as normal. )

I hope you are all well x

Realladymarmalade · 20/05/2020 21:49

Ps
Anyone considering homeschooling kids during mat leave ? I'm thinking will home school till October. That way if I need to move my mum in when DP works away fke 3 weeks then I can keep our bubble tight.
I am also anxious about the opportunities for transmission to a newborn from kids at school. Yep I've read the data but there are too many unknowns, and is the guidance not that newborns should be shielded until immunizations?

NameChange30 · 04/08/2020 21:17

Hi, how is everyone?
It's been ages since I checked this thread but I thought I'd see if I could revive it!
I can't believe it's August already and my baby is due NEXT MONTH 😬
I've hated pregnancy (mainly because of bad PGP, worse than last time) and hated lockdown, killer combination Sad
However, not ready for baby yet - still lots to do - so I am not hoping she comes early!
Also dreading lockdown with a newborn and no baby groups - not that I particularly enjoyed them first time around but it was good to have things to go to if I wanted to.

Samk79 · 05/08/2020 21:14

@NameChange30 I'm 34 weeks and also suffering with pelvic and hip pain. Pregnancy in lockdown has been really hard. I'm still working but working from home.
I think we have everything we need for the baby but the room isn't ready yet!

Hope everyone else is doing okay x

NameChange30 · 05/08/2020 21:43

Hi SamK sorry you've been struggling with pain too. Our baby's room isn't ready yet either - not even started as we can't until our new office room is finished (then we can move all the office furniture and do baby's room). I guess baby will be in with us to start with anyway so it's not the end of the world, just starting to feel stressed!
I have one more week at work before maternity leave and looking forward to having a bit more time and head space to get in baby mode!

OP posts:
Samk79 · 05/08/2020 22:21

@NameChange30 I've got another 2 weeks working in my temporary office in the living room! My hubby has also moved his office into the living room. We can't really do the babies room until I've finished work and we have got more space to put the stuff!
It's only a box room so shouldn't take too long to do.

I do just want to get everything organised now! When I saw the midwife yesterday she said the babies head was partitioned engaged which scared me slightly! X

NameChange30 · 28/08/2020 06:45

How is everyone? Has anyone had their baby yet?!

I'm 38+6 today and still not very ready but getting there!

OP posts:
Samk79 · 02/09/2020 07:56

@NameChange30 I'm 38 weeks now and getting fed up of waiting!! How are you doing x

NameChange30 · 02/09/2020 08:08

OK thanks but very uncomfortable, baby is low and there's lot of pressure.. on my cervix I guess?and also constantly feel like I need the loo which is annoying! I've been sleeping badly for a while now. Definitely had more than enough of being pregnant! I swear it gets this bad towards the end so that we actually WANT to give birth Grin

How are you, are you pretty much ready? I'm nearly there but still need to pack hospital bag Blush I hate packing but that's not a good excuse is it! In my defence I'm hoping for a home birth!

OP posts:
Samk79 · 02/09/2020 08:58

@NameChange30 I feel exactly the same, am up about 4 times a night to go for a wee and really suffering with my pelvis! I'm also feeling a lot of pressure down below. I've got another scan and hospital app tomorrow as my fluid levels were high 2 weeks ago.

I feel guilty that I haven't been able to do much with my kids over the summer x

NameChange30 · 02/09/2020 09:59

Yes I've been feeling very guilty about not being able to do much at all with DS Sad My PGP has been incredibly debilitating but even without PGP we are too huge to do much any more! I keep trying to tell myself it's temporary and hopefully in the balance of his lifetime a sibling will be more beneficial than not!

Best of luck for your scan and appointment tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you.

OP posts:
Samk79 · 02/09/2020 11:19

@NameChange30 thank you. Tomorrow is going to be a pain as they can't do the scan at the same time as the app do I have to go at 10 for that and back at 3 to see bet consultant. Pgp is awful, I've got a support and crutches for when it is really bad. I've done a
Bit of cleaning today and now suffering. I think these last few weeks are the worst! X

NameChange30 · 02/09/2020 12:03

Well done you for cleaning, I gave that up a long time ago 🤣 Seriously though don't overdo it!

@NameChange30 I'm booked in for an induction on Thursday at 39+2, terrified now!!
