Pregnant with second (or third/fourth/etc) baby, due in/around September 2020

Hi! Is there anyone out there who already has at least one child and expecting another baby in or around September 2020?

I would love to chat to other pregnant mums who have "been there, done that" at least once before...

I am less excited this time, since I know what I'm letting myself in for 🙈 But also very much looking forward to giving my son a sibling. He will be 3.5 when baby is born.

We already found out at 16 weeks (private scan), I wasn't going to but needed cheering up as the coronavirus announcements had started. I'm so glad we did because DH was able to come so we found out the sex together, DS was there too (no option but to take him). It's a girl Smile I'm looking through a baby name book now! Nice distraction from day-to-day life atm.

Latte ha yes I was thinking that! I had told a few people - manager, immediate team, one or two others - but hadn't made a big announcement. If we do go back to the office before September (hope so) it's going to be quite funny turning up with a big bump and seeing people's reactions Grin

Hey ladies, we had a gender scan booked for next weekend, when I'm 17w but it was cancelled. Could get another one at a place a bit further away but I wouldn't be able to take DD, only DH, and with the current situ I haven't really got anyone else I can or want to leave her with. Got my 20w scan on 6th May. Think DH and DD are going to come and wait in the car. Going on my 12w scan I'm guessing it's another girl. I sent off to Nub Tech and they said 85% chance girl, but we'll see.

Got my 16w mw appointment on thursday. Pleased and surprised they're doing face-to-face appts. Really hoping I get to hear the heartbeat for reassurance everything's still ok. Such a long wait from 12w to 20w.

NameChange30 · 13/04/2020 19:04

Spark
Sorry your scan got cancelled Sad Mine was a few days before lockdown so I think I only just got in on time.
In my area they don't listen to heartbeat at 16 weeks but hope you'll get to listen to yours!

Hi! Due 19th sept. Already have a 4yr old DD. I'm 39. Going for elcs this time providing one still available! Had pool one with gas and air last time and not playing that game again! Don't know sex of new baby yet.

NameChange30 · 13/04/2020 19:14

Hello and welcome Smile

Funny I'm just catching up on all the posts and want to add am more excited second time as now I realise it's a person, a whole new personality coming into the family. And much less fussy this time. I don't want all the gadgets, I'm totally relaxed if they get mucky or don't hit age targets. I am dreading the lack of sleep again though.

NameChange30 · 13/04/2020 19:24

God yes! I'm kidding myself number two will be easier... lalala

OP posts:
Spark27 · 13/04/2020 19:57

I think (hope) I'm going to be more relaxed about it. Not stressing about timelines, milestones, how tidy the house is, etc. But I know it's just gonna ruin our current family 'schedule', but I'm cool with that.
I'm sure I'll be looking back at the days that I just had one and could chill and nap whenever they napped with longing. I think that will be the hardest bit. Having to look after a 3yo all day as well as a baby

Last time round they listened to the hb at 16w so I'm hoping they still do. I know the mw has changed. I saw the one I had last time round at my booking in appt but she said she was moving on. Hope the policy where i am is still the same

NameChange30 · 13/04/2020 20:13

"Having to look after a 3yo all day as well as a baby"

Will you take your oldest out of childcare while you're on maternity leave?

My plan is to send DS to nursery 2 days a week so I can have those days just with baby.

DH works 4 days a week (or at least he normally does, our routine is different on lockdown!) and he will probably want to stick to that even when I'm on maternity leave. So I'm going to use him as much as I can 3 days a week Grin

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 13/04/2020 20:15

I was never able to nap when DS napped, anyway. He was a terrible napper (which in hindsight was probably due to silent reflux caused by CMPA, which we didn't realise until late) and he would usually sleep on us - I did sometimes manage to transfer him into a sleepyhead or get him to sleep in the pushchair but never reliably or long enough to nap much myself!

OP posts:
Spark27 · 13/04/2020 20:49

@NameChange30, no I'll keep DD in nursery. I only work 3 days a week now and DD does nursery for 2 days and then one with my mum. Hoping my mum will still take her for a bit of the other day so I'll get almost 3 days of just me and baby.

I remember last time I didn't nap much when DD did, unless we'd had a particularly difficult time. And put too much pressure on myself for the house to be tidy, food to be done, etc. It was tiring but ok, but I'm definitely not going to put that pressure on myself this time round. This should be my last baby so I'm hoping to enjoy the newborn-ness and taking time for just me and her/him.

Hello everyone, completely lost this thread somehow!!!

How's everyone doing? I'm 19 weeks today, 20
Week scan next week. Whoop! Going to keep the sex a surprise for the birth. As tempted as I am to find out I really want to do it with DH.

My 16 week app was over phone. I won't be seen till 28 weeks so in effect won't have urine it bloods checked for over 20 weeks which is madness!!! We get to hear the heartbeat here but I obviously missed out on that 😢

My girls are soo excited for the baby and keep asking when it's coming 🤭 they have been practicing with their baby dolls and it melts my heart!!!!

Hope everyone else is feeling well? X

LatteLover12 · 16/04/2020 06:58

Morning ladies,

I'm excited because I slept through! No 4am waking up for me!

I'm already hungry though and I'm trying to be a bit more sensible with the constant eating. Lockdown does not help!

Is anyone else starting to feel some movement? I'm sure I've started to feel baby squirming around a few times now. Can't wait for my DP to be able to feel him/her too.

My 20w scan is in 3 weeks time and I'm trying to decide whether to find out the sex or not. I didn't with my first two but I'm so tempted this time round. What are you going to do?

Spark27 · 16/04/2020 07:16

Morning @LatteLover12, yay to sleeping through. I cant remember if I got up or not. I had some really weird dreams though.
Really nervous cos I've got my 16w mw appt today and i know we're going to listen to the hb. Not sure if I've felt anything yet, and the wait from 12w and know everything was ok seems soooooo long.

Sipperskipper · 16/04/2020 07:21

Hello again, I dropped off this thread as struggling to keep up! Nearly 3 year old DD in lockdown is demanding a LOT of my attention....

Have my 20w scan on Tuesday. Feeling fine, but all the CV stuff just on my mind. Currently off work as a nurse, probably won’t be back until after mat leave now, which feels v odd.

My section is now booked for 24th August (due date was 5th Sep).

LatteLover12 · 16/04/2020 09:03

Oh that's good you've got an appointment @Spark27 mine was cancelled so I bought a doppler! It's such a long wait between 12 & 20 weeks.

Good luck for today, it will be lovely to hear the heartbeat! ❤️

NameChange30 · 17/04/2020 16:36

Hi all

ChipsAreLife
Sorry your 16w appt was over the phone so you couldn't hear the heartbeat Sad Still not long to wait now for your 20w scan! What day is it? Mine's on Wednesday (22nd).
How sweet of your girls to practise with their dolls. DS talks about his baby sister all the time and is always wanting to hug and kiss my bump, it's very sweet.

Latte
I've been feeling movement for a few weeks now but 20w tomorrow so further along than you I think?
If you read back this page and previous page you'll find some chat about finding out the sex, there is a mix! I already found out I'm having a girl (had a gender scan just before lockdown) Smile

Spark
How was your appointment yesterday, did you get to hear the heartbeat?

Sipper
Good luck for your 20w scan on Tuesday. I think that'll be 3 of us next week!

How is everyone doing in general? I'm struggling with lockdown. It's occurred to me that I might have to work from home until I start maternity leave... which means no chance to see my colleagues and say goodbye, I won't see any of them again until I go back which will probably be summer 2021 😢 I guess I could pop in with baby after she's born (if things have calmed down by then) but it's not the same.

OP posts:
Sipperskipper · 17/04/2020 17:42

@NameChange30 also struggling. DD is a lovely, pretty easy going toddler, but not great at any sort of independent play. Normally fine as week is broken up with preschool, park trips, walks, swimming, seeing friends / family etc, but the days are feeling quite long here. The good weather has been a saving grace as DD loves being outside.

I'm also a bit worried how I will manage if there is a second 'wave' in autumn/winter & we have another lockdown. Being indoors most of the time with a very energetic DD and a newborn will be very difficult, and its really playing on my mind.

I'll also be at home until mat leave, its a weird feeling isn't it? A really, really long time to be away.

NameChange30 · 22/04/2020 16:30

@Sipperskipper How was your scan yesterday?
@ChipsAreLife Have you had yours yet?

I had my scan today and all was fine. I didn't find it a particularly positive experience, DH wasn't there and I had a student sonographer who was being supervised by a more senior one, it took forever and they talked to each other more than me, plus baby was wriggling loads and then in an awkward position so we didn't even get a decent image to show DH Sad Still baby looked normal and healthy which is the most important thing.

I also saw the midwife afterwards for blood pressure, urine check and whooping cough vaccine. They gave me my MATB1 form too. All very efficient! As they are minimising F2F appts as much as possible.

OP posts:
LatteLover12 · 22/04/2020 17:11

Hi ladies,

Scan is still a couple of weeks away (May 7th) but I think I'm going to find out the sex this time. I have two boys already so I know I'll get lots of comments about wanting a girl this time so whatever it is I can deflect those iyswim? Honestly, a girl would be lovely but my boys are amazing and potentially less drama having a teen boy when I'll be menopausal 😂😂

Does anyone else feel like their pregnancy is a bit of a fantasy? I hadn't had my 12 week scan when the advice changed and I couldn't go to work so only a couple of my colleagues know and they've been sworn to secrecy. I haven't had any f2f mw care since 8 weeks. It just doesn't feel real somehow! No one telling me I'm huge, no one to chat to about it all, no shopping! It's all just a bit weird.

I've started to feel a few squirmy, wriggling movements I think. Hoping for some proper kicks very soon. I'm 18+2 today 😊

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine ☀️

Sipperskipper · 22/04/2020 17:40

@NameChange30 glad your scan was all ok. All fine here too. I've never enjoyed scans as am just so anxious the whole time, its horrible!

hope lockdown isn't treating everyone too badly, good luck to all those having 20w scans soon.

livelyredjellybean · 27/04/2020 14:53

Bit late to the party, but hi everyone! Expecting my 2nd LO middle of September (on my wedding anniversary 🙈), currently have a DD who is 3yrs old.

Hope everyone is ok and coping well in the lockdown.

Anyone had any different symptoms this time around? Currently struggling with a major bout of dizziness - first time in either pregnancy I’ve had it.
