I've literally no idea when to finish, self employed & have my own salon.
I plan on slowing mid april. Due 21st June.

19+2

APD1981 · 28/01/2020 18:42

@searchingtheskies I wasn't given advice about when to tell them, I am part time so only have 3 classes. I told year 11 after my 16 week MW appointment because I came in late to their lesson after it and so decided to tell them. They were a very tough group and were given to me this year to try and sort them out and so telling them bits about me and my life really helps to get them on board. They love hearing about the baby and ask me loads of things. They've settled into a lovely group! I told my year 12 student a couple of weeks ago because my baby brain was causing me to forget words (I teach MFL) but I haven't told year 7 yet. They're still very immature and so I think I'll wait for them to work it out themselves!

newbyxx · 28/01/2020 19:11

I've given in all my maternity dates and matb1 form I'm taking annual leave from April 20th maternity starting 4th May (due 6th June) I've got lots of time off before but my work in really heavy so feel I'll need it plus 7 weeks to nest sounds lovely to me 😊 xx

Lemonysherbet · 28/01/2020 19:16

@theseriousmoonlight I just phoned up my doctor's surgery and asked for one. They got the midwife to fill it out when she was in next as I wasn't seeing her until 24+5 and it's due in by 25 weeks

theseriousmoonlight · 28/01/2020 19:28

@Lemonysherbet, thanks. I need to ring my gp or midwife anyway as I'm sure I'm getting a cold sore and want to check if I can use cream or a patch on it.

Does anyone here have experience of cold sores while pregnant?

SearchingTheSkies · 28/01/2020 19:29

@APD1981 Aww that's so lovely about your yr 11s. I also have quite a 'tricky' class of boys, and I think they will be quite interested, but will continue to hold out for now. If they notice a bump they won't be shy in telling me!

theseriousmoonlight · 28/01/2020 19:34

@SearchingTheSkies I'm a teacher too, part time. I had no guidance from school for this pregnancy or at my last school for my first one.

I told my Y11s a few weeks ago as my bump is quite noticeable and I didn't want then worrying about me leaving before their exams. I plan on staying on as close to my due date as possible (13th June) so should be there for them. I told my other classes around the same time but school gossip meant I didn't really need to...

APD1981 · 28/01/2020 19:59

@searchingtheskies I have quite a bump now and they love seeing it grow! I'm pleased it's helped us develop a good working relationship. They were also concerned about their exams and whether it'd be me conducting them so they're pleased it will be me. My HoD is scheduling them for April to make sure I can get mine done in case I end up having to go off earlier than planned. We spend 5-10 mins every lesson chatting about baby stuff etc which seems like a waste but if you had seen the way they treated previous teachers, it was absolute Bedlam and no work ever got done, then a few mins chat followed by 50 mins of work is progress!

I bet your tricky boys will be really interested, you know!

As for MatB1 form, I was given mine when I went to 20 week scan. It's ridiculous some of you have to chase them when the deadline is 25 weeks to hand it in.

mrssunshinexxx · 28/01/2020 20:04

@Lemonysherbet do you know if the father has to hand the nat1b form in by 25 weeks too? X

Pegase · 28/01/2020 20:37

@SearchingTheSkies I've been given no guidance but I don't have a form class as am SLT so just my few teaching classes who I'm sure have worked it out already although obviously too polite to say!
@APD1981 I'm MFL too

APD1981 · 28/01/2020 21:00

@pegase Ah cool! What's your specialism? Mine is German with some French. German is definitely my passion and my strength though.

BabyBird20 · 28/01/2020 21:02

@APD1981 @Pegase funnily enough I'm Mfl lead in my primary school!! 😍 Not sure if it's little ones have worked it out yet but pretty sure the parents are suspicious, I've gained about 2 stone so far and am just generally looking fat!!

BabyBird20 · 28/01/2020 21:05

Has anyone changed their midwife? I did not enjoy my last midwife appointment at all and the more I've thought about it the more I've come to dislike her which is not like me at all! I've read back through my notes and she's ticked to say she's discussed things with me including fetal movements, symptoms of pre-eclampsia etc when she didn't talk about them at all! Was a big box ticking exercise and both my partner and I left feeling like it was a pointless appointment!!

Pegase · 28/01/2020 21:15

@BabyBird20 @APD1981 I'm French with German

MissisBee · 28/01/2020 21:24

I'm stopping work on 9th April (30 weeks). I'm able to use all my year's annual leave before the mat leave starts. My blood pressure problems started at 30 weeks last time, and I'm sure work stress contributed to it. Also, I ended up stopping work very suddenly and leaving them in the lurch, so hoping for a more controlled exit this time! My maternity cover is already doing a couple of days a work with us, so a more gradual transition. If I end up actually getting to term this time, all the better for having lots of time to spend with my toddler before the baby arrives.
I'm a Guide leader too, and told the Guides my news at Christmas, by a game of Chinese whispers at their sleepover!

HayleyD84 · 28/01/2020 21:29

@umabb thanks for the tag to the new group Smile

Had my 20w scan today, all ok and it's a boyGrin which my DS1 is so happy about, we are also over the moon.

Haven't got my MATB1 looks like I'm going to have to chase my MF.

I'm leaving work on 7th May (due 14th June but elected c-section will be from about 8th June) so a nice 4 weeks off before.
I'll use some holiday and maternity leave will start from end of May.

I'm hoping to take off a year if DH gets offered a job he's gone for. Then If he does get the job I don't think I'll be going back, or I'll only work max 2 days.

Congrats to everyone who's had their scans.
I just want to get to the 24 week milestone now which is when the hospital will intervene if you go into labour.

20+2

AmyMaria2 · 28/01/2020 21:37

Thank you for new thread!

@BabyBird20 I haven't changed my midwife but also not feeling great about mine, she always seems in a rush and also has ticked things off in my notes which haven't been discussed with me! There are 2 in my area and she said it will be her or the other one at my next appointment so im hoping it isn't her🙈 x

RPPs · 28/01/2020 21:43

@Lemonysherbet is it standard that the Matb form is submitted to the employer by 25 weeks. I dont think I have an appointment before then.

Girls I cant stop eating. Craving sweet things. I've even woken in the early hours and got up for some Crunchy Nut. Not been weighed since 12 weeks. Eeeeek also has anyone noticed the shape of their bump change. Mine was pointed but in the last week Im filling out at the sides. That might be the wine gums and Honey Cherios.

Tonight my DH felt Bambino kick for the first time. I think the men need it to feel its real. Can't wait for you all to feel the kicking. Its so amazing.

UKtoSK · 28/01/2020 22:24

Wow, so many teachers in this group! And especially MFL. I studied French and Spanish at university but ended up moving to Korea (just for a year or two experience, got married, stayed, it’s been 7.5 years) and I teach ESL at a kindergarten. The parents all know now and I guess some told their kids because one class of 5/6 year olds are obsessed and shout “baby!” at me every time they see me, and last week they were all taking turns to put their ears to my belly to listen. So sweet.
I only work part time as it is and my contract is only until the end of Feb and I want to take longer than maternity leave allows off after so I’m just not renewing my contract. So from Feb 21st I’ll be unemployed! Bit worried about money and boredom but that’s just how things have worked out.

BabyBird20 · 28/01/2020 22:36

@amymaria I had an absolutely lovely lady for my booking in appointment, but then they changed me to this one who is just really emotionless and almost felt like she was bored! I'm going to ring the midwife team number and try to find out if I can change without having to give too much detail why I want to!! 😬😬

BabyBird20 · 28/01/2020 22:38

@rpps my appetite is huge at the moment and all I want is biscuits, chocolate and icecream!! Definitely gained weight all over so look fat rather than pregnant at the moment!! Just want my bump to 'pop' so it's obvious now!! 😬😬

AmyMaria2 · 28/01/2020 22:59

@BabyBird20 yeah give them a ring and see if you can change, you want a good experience with good appointments. I might do the same if I get the same lady, or just ask for my appointments to be on the day the nicer midwife is working.
Last time I checked I had put a stone on already, I have popped though my bump is massive 🙈 everyone told me I was showing really early x

22+0!

Twittlebee · 29/01/2020 01:29

Just popping on to say I can see I've had a few requests in my DMs to join the FB group. I cant currently invite you as I havent access to my laptop (havent figured out FB invite email via my phone yet). Once I'm on my laptop I'll get to it.

There are a few others on here with the FB admin power too but cant bloomin remember their MN names! Hopefully theyll make themselves known.

Reason I havent my laptop, I've been admitted to hospital on rest as I've currently got a threatened miscarriage under way. My body is fricking contracting every 10 minutes and whilst my cervix isnt open it is soft and very very short.

Twittlebee · 29/01/2020 01:29

(Oh and 18+4)

Smiffette · 29/01/2020 04:15

My midwife changed at my last appointment, I knew it was coming though and she seems nice enough, I should have her for the remaining appointments.

I've noticed the last two weeks my bump has properly popped! Definitely filled out around my waist, feels like there's a balloon in there when I press my sides! Colleagues at work have really noticed it! I'm glad really as I've now gone past the just feeling chubby stage!

I'd put on about 7lbs by my 12 week scan, easily put on a stone now though, I think 1st 2lbs when I weighed at the weekend!

Still not feeling any movement, not worried though as saw her wiggling around last week. I have my second 20wk scan today at 8am to get the image they couldn't get last week! So looking forward to seeing her again!

Sleep is getting worst, hence being up at this time! Been awake since 2am and finally given up and come down stairs to watch TV and hopefully fall asleep on the sofa!

21+2
