@BabyBird20 @peetieswie I think I'll have first day after half term as my first day of mat leave. The way half term falls this year that will still be 19 days before my due date but am hoping for a C section which will bring it slightly earlier and I want some nesting time!

Planning to go back after Feb half term as we are sharing the time off.

None of the students have said anything to me yet although they must have noticed a bump!!

APD1981 · 28/01/2020 07:11

I teach secondary part time so I'm going to try and make it to May half term so my last working day would be 22nd May. I have Mondays off so I'll put the first Tuesday after half term as my start date for mat leave (2nd June) and I'm due on 7th June. I'm hoping that, because I work part time and my year 11s will have done their exams by then, that I can plod on to half term. I only teach one other little year 7 class (15 kids) and 1 A level student (a delight and I don't need to move off my chair for his lessons!) so I hope I can do it.

@mrssunshinexxx I wasn't drinking enough fluid but since having really bad problems I have 2 or 3 big glasses a day either mixed with squash or a bit of fresh apply juice. That, plus a few cups of decaf tea etc means I feel I'm getting more fluids now x

MsMiaWallace · 28/01/2020 08:01

Thanks for the new thread x

Ladies getting palpitations, have you tried taking your pulse when you are feeling the palpitations? If it is irregular or really fast your GP could refer you for a 24hr ECG recording which would hopefully capture when your having the palpitations.

My boss has agreed that I can carry four weeks of annual leave over to the end of Mat leave so only using two weeks before. Planning to finish 25th May and start Mat leave 8th June with due date 15th. I work in an emergency dept so on my feet for 12 hrs. Work are being amazing and letting me work in sitting down areas if I'm having a tired day

@mrssunshinexxx I literally drink water all the time. More so before I got pregnant and had a bit less in the first 3 months because I feel sick even with too much water. I'm just always thirsty and I know I'd have trouble going if I don't have enough water - rather sensitive systems..

@chocolate26 @peetieswie there's a 9month old baby in China caught the virus.. no report on pregnant women so far. The husband just got some masks and the in laws too. I'd suggest to do the same. But not to panic right now as no indication the virus has reached the Uk but yes it's only a matter of when not if..

Hi all, hope you don't mind me rejoining this thread. I think I posted early in one of the first ones but held off from posting again until now as I've been quite anxious about this pregnancy. I had a mc last June so the first 12 weeks were pretty nerve wracking and I've since been so worried about the 20 week scan! It's like I didn't want to jinx it by posting iyswim.

I had the 20 week scan yesterday and all looks good so far. Feel like I can actually enjoy it now a bit and get excited.

Twittlebee · 28/01/2020 09:45

Think my plan is to keep working until 1st June, as long as I dont start labouring before obviously! And then I'll use my annual leave in December and go back to work January. I am tempted to go back sooner, say Oct/Nov (I can work from home) and get DH to take over on the leave. Would make sense for us

BabyBird20 · 28/01/2020 10:51

@Twittlebee not sure if you saw my last message, if you get a minute please could you add me to the Facebook group? 😊

Twittlebee · 28/01/2020 10:55

@BabyBird20 yup I replied, saying if you DMed me over here I would have sent the request to you to join via your email Smile you wont get the notification on FB but on your given email address x

QforCucumber · 28/01/2020 11:05

I think I'm going to finish at 37 weeks, worked to 36 weeks with DS and he was then 10 days late and that 5 weeks alone was the most amazing time. Plan to use annual leave for weeks 38 & 39, Mat leave starting on his due date, then back to work just after Feb half term as DS starts school in Sept this year and would like to have the half term with him before going back into the madness which is payroll year end in April (I run a payroll department)

Babymaher · 28/01/2020 11:09

@Cornishbumpkin I wish my work were as understanding I also work in an emergency department. I’ve been told I’m not allowed to carry over my annual leave and I’m still expected to work in heavy areas. I’ve ended up requesting to work more nights as it means I can sit down more than in the day.

BabyBird20 · 28/01/2020 11:24

@TwittleBee amazing I just found it thank you!! 😍

newbyxx · 28/01/2020 12:24

@umabb thanks for the new thread 😊, I'm feeling my little bub more often now even with my anterior it's still only when I sit down but I love it!

Hi all,

Just an update to say scan of abdomen all clear today. No idea why my bloods were elevated but my FIL said probably because I had eaten a big meal about an hour before the tests which can affect the pancreas enzymes. Anyway all fine and she even did a sneak peek of the baby who was having a ball in there! She commented on his/her button nose 😍😍

I’m very relieved and looking forward to my anomaly scan on Monday now, fingers crossed all comes back ok on that as well.

Hope you’re all doing ok ladies. Seems a few of us have had little worries about our bodies with one thing or another - little buggers already causing us worry and stress!

I’m working up to my due date (assuming I’m on time or late!) and officially taking 16 weeks maternity leave and then a few weeks holiday (will take everything I’m due at that point which will be about 4 weeks I think), so probably around 20 weeks off in total although I work from home most of the time so when I go back to work I can be very flexible (eg work late afternoons and evenings when my husband is home so we can share childcare with him doing it at night and me during the day!)

Our parents are going to be available for childcare most days if we need it as well - we are very lucky as I have looked at nursery prices and 😳😳😳

LillianFullStop · 28/01/2020 12:45

Thanks for the new thread!

@Twittlebee glad it's not just me with being emotional. The emotions venture into the dramatics in the middle of the night when the insomnia hits and my body is tired but the mind is awake. By morning I'm back to normal and feel a bit silly about it all!

Thanks @AndddddHereWeGoagain I'll PM you later today if that's ok Smile

@newbyxx I started to feel so much more of him since mid last week (that was week 19). He'd be kicking /pouching away while we are sitting down watching something on the tv or when I'm lying in bed getting ready to sleep. If it wasn't a busy evening he'd be busy overnight and I'd feel the moves while I woke up in the middle of the night.
I didn't know my placenta position until I got the anatomy scan report yesterday which says anterior high.

20+2 today 😃

@hjbows88 glad it's all good ! :)
I started to wonder after reading your post whether my elevated liver enzyme is to do with food too - had it tested twice now and second time came back lower. Will test again next Tuesday..

Oh @Babymaher that's rubbish. Nights sound like a good idea but I find them more exhausting than days! Have you done your work risk assessment?

Rinoa · 28/01/2020 16:09

@mrssunshinexxx for constipation lots of fruit helped me. Kiwi, oranges, apples, grapes plums etc. And yogurt lol of course lots of sugar but it helped me !

SearchingTheSkies · 28/01/2020 17:07

Thanks for the new thread @umabb.

I haven't been too bad with constipation but trapped wind has been really painful at times. I've been braving the prune juice and snacking on dried apricots, which seems to be helping.

@peetieswie @Pegase @BabyBird20 @APD1981 I'm hoping to finish work June 12 (due June 26th). My Yr 11s finish that day so I thought it might be nice to leave the same day as them. Then whoever takes over my timetable will have a far lighter load for the rest of term. Did your schools give any guidance as to when to tell students or did they leave it up to you? I'm not showing too much yet so won't say anything until I can't hide the bump anymore.

Congrats on all the lovely scan news!

Haven't felt baby move as much recently so feeling a bit worried, though I know logically this can be normal at 18+4.

sarahlounich · 28/01/2020 17:24

Thanks for the new thread! Just had a catch up...glad to see I'm not the only one suffering with constipation 😫 seems to go in a 3/4 day cycle. I haven't taken any meds yet just water and fruit. I think some of my diet choices aren't helping and would have caused me probs without pregnancy (a while pizza and bag of minstrels for example!)

Sorry to hear some of you are still suffering with sickness and other illnesses. I'm still feeling quite tired in the afternoon / evening so god knows how I'll be in another 10 weeks.

I'm planning on working up to 2 weeks before but my job has become deal based since I became pregnant.

22+0

Lemonysherbet · 28/01/2020 17:29

Well, 22.5 weeks and the sickness and nausea is back 😣 I've also had horrific constipation the past few days until yesterday when it's errupted into the complete opposite and I've got an upset stomach. Pregnancy is so glamorous 🙈

Lemonysherbet · 28/01/2020 17:31

Also I handed in my matb1 today and gave in my prelim mat leave dates. 7th may for me (due 30th) but 2 weeks of that will be annual leave and mat.leave has to start the Sunday before due date so it's the latest I can take it!

theseriousmoonlight · 28/01/2020 17:45

@Lemonysherbert how did you get your matb1? I don't see my midwife until 26 weeks now but I'm sure I got it earlier than that with my first baby
