@AmyMaria2 you might of felt baby when you needed a wee! I've been feeling mine for a couple of weeks and I've noticed when I really need a wee I feel him/her more, I don't know why but I definitely notice it more when my bladder is full or I'm more scrunched up Smile

APD1981 · 30/01/2020 18:50

British people flying back from Wuhan are being quarantined in my hospital from tomorrow!! I have to go there in 3 weeks for a glucose test. I live on the border of 2 counties so there is another hospital I can use if necessary. What would you do? I'm scared to go there if I have an emergency now!

hjbows88 · 30/01/2020 19:19

Thinking of you @Twittlebee and hoping all is ok xxx

chocolate26 · 30/01/2020 19:29

@APD1981 I would definitely go to another hospital if I could! But then I am a worrier and always think the worst. I just couldn't bring myself to go to a hospital where it potentially could be lingering.

Twittlebee · 30/01/2020 20:07

Evening all! Sorry to leave it quite late to update and also not catching up properly, just saw the email notifications pinging and thought I better let you know the good(ish) news.

So we saw our 'new' Consultant (who delivered DS2) and she does seem lovely (I cant really remember many parts of that birth though). She said she wants me to stay on rest as it seems like I have an irritable uterus as my cervix isnt shortening dangerously but I am contracting.

She did say, interestingly, that it's common for cervixes to start shortening through the 2nd trimester but it's very slow usually. So she will expect to see mine to continue shortening but if she sees it shorten too quickly then she will suggest a stitch.

I am due to see her again at 22 weeks and she said that is when they actually try to keep babies alive now if they are born. So I need to just focus on this 22 week goal for now, only 3 weeks away.

RPPs · 30/01/2020 20:14

Ahhh all the bumps look lovely. I love waiting in the maternity reception and seeing all the pregnant women come and go.

@umabb thanks for asking. They took more bloods today and unfortunately the liver function has gone up since Monday. Waiting on more results tomorrow and back to test again next week. They've also suggested doing a heart echo and give me a 24hr monitoring device. I feel more reassured now thst they are covering all basis. In 2 weeks I will see a consultant who will review all the results. Do you know what level the enzymes were at. I think they said normal was 35 and mine was 59. So almost double.

Wondering how @Twittlebee is getting on.

RPPs · 30/01/2020 20:20

@Twittlebee so relieved. I really hope it all calms down and was just a wee blip.

Cornishbumpkin · 30/01/2020 20:22

@APD1981 if they are deliberately quarantining them at that hospital there should be a very strict policy that means they are taken directly to an area of the hospital that isn't accessed by anyone else so you should be perfectly safe going for maternity things.

@Twittlebee that sounds positive. I'm amazed that they go from 22 weeks now, can't believe that in just 2 weeks our little ones are in a sense considered almost fully developed

chocolate26 · 30/01/2020 20:36

@Twittlebee so glad you are doing okay 😊 fingers crossed everything remains positive. It is amazing they can keep babies alive from 22 weeks now! I actually watched a programme earlier about premature babies and it was amazing to see how talented all the staff were and how amazing the technology is these days that keeps these babies alive.

Magpiefeather · 30/01/2020 20:39

@Twittlebee that’s good news, it’s so amazing how much can be done for tiny premise babies now, you’re right having that 22 week goal in sight must be a comfort. Hope you can rest lots and the contractions stop.

We had our scan today and bloody hell the sonographer didn’t half push down hard. I’m going to be black and blue tomorrow!!!! All looking good, healthy and wonderfully average with baby. A little boy 💙 although the sonographer didn’t sound all that sure, she did say she’d be “very surprised if it wasn’t a boy.” Were they that cautious and cagey with you, ladies?

Busylizzie85 · 30/01/2020 20:50

@magpiefeather mine was the same she pressed so hard it really hurt!! If it wasn’t for the private scan I had I wouldn’t of trusted the sonographer at my 20 weeks all she said was ‘we’ll all I can say is I can’t see any particularly obvious boy bits’
however I suppose it’s not there main purpose to tell the sex and they don’t want to say one way or another in case it’s not.

peetieswie · 30/01/2020 22:02

Been thinking of you @twittlebee

Got my scan tomorrow. Excited and nervous. Thrown up tonight a couple of times and nearly threw up on the bus on Saturday so sickness seems to have come back a bit, which is annoying. Appetite has gone tonight so hardly eaten anything but bet I'll wake up at 2am starving and then not be able to sleep for hours. This baby had better be bloody cute!

MrssC92 · 31/01/2020 05:27

Been thinking of you too @Twittlebee. The new consultant sounds like she knows what she's talking about! It's amazing what they can do for little babies.

I have my scan today and I'm so nervous I can't sleep and feel sick. Good look today @peetieswie and the others with their scans today

newbyxx · 31/01/2020 05:59

Another 5am wake up call this is just becoming the norm for me now, my whole left side is so painful and achy makes it unbearable to try and get back to sleep! Sofa and Netflix it is x

RunWild · 31/01/2020 06:27

@newbyxx I wish it was a 5am wake up for me. 3am and counting, for weeks now. I'm usually just going back to sleep when my husbands 5.30 alarm goes off, then eventually get to sleep again when mine does. But sleep has completely escaped me today. Just going to get up and go in to work early. Might as well get some productivity out of this miserable experience.

Pegase · 31/01/2020 06:41

@RunWild I am exactly the same- awake 3-4 am today before falling back asleep for a mere hour and a half.

@APD1981 I wouldn't worry about the virus at the hospital. To be honest they only just stopped flights so there could easily be people incubating the virus walking around anywhere as I think it has a couple of weeks' incubation.

@Twittlebee glad to hear good news - can they just not give you the stitch anyway just in case? Or is there a reason to avoid?

mrssunshinexxx · 31/01/2020 07:24

So exciting all these scans anyone finding out the gender today? Can't wait to see pics

Feel for those of you with insomnia I had it at the start like week 4-8 it was AWFUL then just disappeared

umabb · 31/01/2020 07:29

@RPPs yes the ALT enzyme normal range is 1-50 and my first test result was 150! Second one came back lower but still elevated hence I've been asked to take the test for the 3rd time. I'm going to go without breakfast Tuesday morning see if it makes a difference. Glad that they are doing thorough checks for you hopefully things come back as minor situations. x

@Twittlebee the thought of that they can keep baby alive from 22weeks relaxes me too! We are nearly there ! Glad that they have a plan and a solution x

I've been watching the virus nasty thingy on the news everyday and it's not looking good at the moment. I also worry the anti chinese vibes going to hit me at some point but people are absolutely friendly. A colleague of the husband's wore a mask to work said people were standing metres away from him on the train and he's English - I think I'd rather stay home instead of going out with a mask. That scene is going to shock people.. Grin I won't worry too much going to hospital at the moment but do make sure wash the hands frequently so not to catch any virus to put us in a more vulnerable position.

Good luck to the ladies who have scans coming soon 🌹

Magpiefeather · 31/01/2020 07:32

@Busylizzie85 although its comforting it wasn’t just me, I’m sorry yours was painful too. I had some cramps overnight and so was awake worrying that all the pressing would have hurt baby. irrational but I can’t shake it. Want to feel some baby wriggles now to reassure me. I know I’m being a bit silly so trying to talk sense to myself.

Lemonysherbet · 31/01/2020 07:37

@Twittlebee oh that's great news, really glad you got the support you needed. I'll cross my fingers these next couple of weeks fly by for you

@RPPs I hope you're doing ok? That sounds pretty scary!

@peetieswie my sickness has come back quite badly too. Im 23 weeks Tomorrow and really wasn't expecting it. It seems to hurt more throwing up with a bigger baby in there too!

BabyBird20 · 31/01/2020 07:53

I'm off work again today, tried to get up and go in but ended up sat on the stairs crying as my headache was so bad!! Paracetamol just isn't cutting it! Have awful guilt about being off but also know I have to try and make myself well for the baby! Seem to be developing tinnitus now too which is never a good sign, not sure if I should call the docs at this point as it's been a week!!? Hard to know what to do for the best!! 🤒😷

MsMiaWallace · 31/01/2020 07:59

20% off baby clothing at Asda people!

APD1981 · 31/01/2020 08:15

Thanks for the advice about my hospital. I think I'll wait and see what happens with regards to if the virus spreads then make a decision about moving hospitals. Unfortunately, after my horrible throaty virus of a few days ago, I now appear to have another virus (unless the same one was just hiding for a bit). This time I'm aching all over and have a really dry cough. Bit blocked up but not like when you have a full blown cold. I'm so fed up for feeling ill and I hate having to take paracetamol. I don't even know if there's any sort of cough medicine I can take?

newbyxx · 31/01/2020 08:17

@BabyBird20 I would ring gp if I was you they will be able to get your urine and bloods, headaches can be a sign of preeclampsia it's always best to get checked out x

Rinoa · 31/01/2020 08:18

@BabyBird20 has the midwife said anything about headaches? Mine suggested magnesium. Been taking 1 a day which seems to help.
