Well, I would rather this thread didn't get taken over by coronavirus concerns. There are enough threads elsewhere for dispensing advice to health care professionals.

@Sunshine8888 I've recently started the Positive Birth Company's digital pack. Are you using the same one? I like Siobhan's delivery of the information - sometimes the people doing things like this can have such annoying voices or ways of talking! Grin

I'm only 30% of the way through so far so we'll see how the rest goes, but I'm enjoying watching the videos and bouncing on my ball so far! Hoping I can get my husband to watch a few as well Smile

Sunshine8888 · 29/02/2020 15:27

@Raindancer411, positive affirmations is just a part of it. I’ve found the course sections on what happens in labour and the science behind it really interesting - it’s logical and makes sense. I haven’t moved into the Relaxation section yet. I have an active mind and have never been into deep breathing / mind stuff but I’m willing to try anything that could help to make the birth more positive and help me feel less anxious about it

woollycat · 29/02/2020 16:31

I am reading the hypnobirthing book by Siobhan Miller - same as the digital course I think - and I am already so much more relaxed about birth! It's a great combination of learning what actually happens at birth, the science behind it all and how a positive mindset, relaxation and practice can help make it all a much more enjoyable experience. I really like the idea of blocking negative thoughts and people, and focusing on positive stories and thoughts 😍

woollycat · 29/02/2020 16:33

Also apologies that I brought up Coronavirus on this thread - I do feel more anxious about it than I would have before pregnancy and thought I'd share that, people on this thread have always made me feel better about my anxieties ❤️

Pastnowfuture · 29/02/2020 17:00

@woollycat No need to apologise, that's what we are all here for- mutual support.

I have read the siobhan miller book and I'm also going on a 1 day course with my OH at the end of March. Felt like this was the best way to get him on board as reading would be a chore for him whereas I enjoy it.

AlmostAlwyn · 29/02/2020 17:31

@woollycat don't apologise. Health concerns are just as valid as name dilemmas and pram choices Smile

@Pastnowfuture I'm hoping the videos will be more engaging than books for my husband too. First time round I got a couple of books, and he claimed he'd read "the important bits" HmmGrin

Pastnowfuture · 29/02/2020 18:33

@AlmostAlwyn Yeah with books I'm pretty sure my OH just looks at the pictures! Hmm

Raindancer411 · 29/02/2020 18:37

Maybe I will have to see if I can find a copy of the book to read then

november90 · 29/02/2020 19:45

Has anyone seen any baby bonnets around suitable for a little boy? I want them in white and blue! Seen loads online but mixed reviews about sizes/quality so thought I'd see if anyone has any/can recommend somewhere first :)

november90 · 29/02/2020 20:32

Omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a bit gross.... so sorry if it's tmi! But I had a real itch in my nipple and it felt a bit wet, so I pressed it there was a little bit of milk there! What the heck!!!!! My son was breast fed until he was 1 year and 7 months, I just cannot believe my body is getting ready to go again!!!!!! I hope this doesn't mean baby is getting ready to come out! I need him in there until the beginning of May at the earliest 🙈 How exciting! I haven't taken a second to really look at my body and feel really proud of what I've achieve, but I'm feel pretty proud right now ❤️

Satstar · 29/02/2020 20:46

Hi everyone, glad to find this thread as I am due may 21st. Absolutely terrified about things, specifically the labour as this is my first baby. I really am so scared and just cant see how I will ever cope!!

For those that have started to buy clothes/pack hospital bags. Are you taking new born size clothes as wel as 0-3 (incase baby is big or small) so will have something to fit

Xxx

Satstar · 29/02/2020 20:49

Also, has anyone had the ocarro pram from mamas and papas?this is the one we are learning towards buying and just wondered if anyone had any feedback

Xxxx

sao81 · 29/02/2020 21:11

@november90 my friend was leaking milk with 12 weeks to go, so I wouldnt worry too much, she ended up going over her due date!

@satstar I always thought of labour as a good pain, as you get something good out of the end of it, and it really helped! Try to ignore peoples horror stories too or your anxiety will end up through the roof! Ive bought alot of "first size" stuff which I found was perfect last time for those first couple of weeks

Got a little peak of his face today, smiling away at us! I didn't realise just how much the placenta was cushioning my movements. We could see his legs going crazy kicking me and I couldn't feel a thing 😶 she said my placenta is covering a really big area at the front of my stomach where baby is lying. I have a growth scan in just over 2 weeks so will get proper measurements then, but it was lovely to have abit of time seeing his face!

@satstar welcome to the thread x i'm having mine on 12 may and i definitely have no baby clothes or hospital bag ready 😳 the only things we have are from first baby ( pram, car seat, next to me cot and 4 swaddling cloths). i'll prepare in April. we r having our bathrooms redone starting monday 😬 so for 3 week or more it will be a building site🤞🏼☠️ i didn't realise i'll get so stressed about it but i've hardly slept in 4 days - i was away for 4 nights and carrying suitcase and bags up and down stairs trains and tube was too optimistic ( i feel my pelvis/ lower back ligaments are all stretched out from the sitting and walking)...

i don't know how to help you ( it's my second) and i remember being extremely anxious about a vaginal birth the first time - NCT classes/ group was very helpful if u can join or some hospitals have anti natal classes i think .. some of the ladies above are doing hypnobirth online or books that might relax u. goodluck x

facevalue · 29/02/2020 21:21

@sao81 awww look at that perfect little face x u must be in love already

sazzlerazzle · 29/02/2020 21:21

I’ve ordered the positive birthing co hypnobirthing course too! Would have like to do a face to face course but it’s just way out of budget for us right now. Going to start watching the videos with hubby tomorrow.

Think I’ve got the start of some stretch marks around my belly button :(

AlmostAlwyn · 29/02/2020 21:24

@november90 not gross at all Grin colostrum is generally produced from about halfway through pregnancy so it doesn't mean baby is on the way. It just means your body is working. We should all be proud of our bodies and what they are doing! Smile

@Satstar have you looked into hypnobirthing? I'm doing the online course from the Positive Birth Company and it's really good at preparing you for what's ahead and giving you tools to help you relax and let your body birth your baby. It will know what to do!

With my first baby, I read Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth, which I'd really recommend as well.

Can't help with the pram though, sorry Grin

Sunshine8888 · 29/02/2020 22:01

@Satstar I also recommend the hypnobirthing digital pack from the positive birth company - I’m also really scared about the birth but the course is already helping me feel more knowledgable and positive x

woollycat · 01/03/2020 06:29

@Satstar we are due date buddies! 😀

Pastnowfuture · 01/03/2020 08:21

@sazzlerazzle If you are interested in a face to face hypnobirthing course ours was only £20 for the two of us through a local charity that supports women in pregnancy. It's only 4hrs and not specifically a 'positive birth company' one.

Pastnowfuture · 01/03/2020 08:27

Hey everyone. I have my first nct class today and suddenly feeling very nervous. We paid for the course primarily to meet people because we don't have any family locally. Everyone says they made friends at nct but what if i don't. I feel under pressure that this is my only opportunity to build a support network before I have a newborn. What if I ask a stupid question or what if everyone just dislikes me. I realise I sound ridiculous, I'm blaming hormones at least in part!

sazzlerazzle · 01/03/2020 09:08

@Pastnowfuture wow, really?? That’s so good! I haven’t seen anything like this locally, I should ask my midwife, thanks for the heads up!

facevalue · 01/03/2020 10:01

@Pastnowfuture oh babe, please try to just be urself. we started nct last week. everyone seems to have exactly the same anxieties about birth and making friends. you can email the instructor to give her a heads up about how u r feeling and she can have a little chat with you before or after. it's a random mix of ppl so 4-6 couples usually there's at least one nice person.

Sunshine8888 · 01/03/2020 10:40

@Pastnowfuture, Just be you. everyone there is likely feeling exactly the same as you, I found everyone to be very warm and friendly 💛
