@Comps83 thanks for the info 👍

NapsAndTea · 11/12/2019 20:49

Just found this again! Last day of work on Friday!

Comps83 · 11/12/2019 20:53

&NapsAndTea hey! I’ve been off work 1.5 weeks . Starting to possibly get a bit bored now. Worried about tomorrow as I’ve got nothing planned. I could always go out and spend more money I don’t have. I’ve spent a fortune the last week!
Still better than being at work though

Sending you all lots of good wishes and luck! I was in your position 9 years ago and my little boy was born at home at 4am on Christmas Day - enjoy your Christmas babies!

@Comps83 not really too much to report as yet. Keep getting occasional period like cramps like I was getting before the sweep so know something is happening but they aren't bad, aren't regular and I'm managing to sleep as usual.
That's interesting reading about sweeps. I haven't had mine done early and probably wouldn't have accepted before 40 weeks. My midwife asked me again yesterday if I was happy to have it and wouldn't have pressured me if I had said no. With regards to #2 theres always the chance of needing further intervention anyway so that wouldn't worry me and mw will only do the next sweep after a week to give this one and natural labour a chance to progress anyway. She also checked babies heart both before and after and he hadn't reacted at all - even after she had touched his head.
#5 is a risk and that was also explained to me too... theres no getting away from the fact they wouldn't want to leave you too long if you lost a lot of your waters. Mine haven't broken, I did have a small bleed but that stopped really quickly. it's down to preference but if you're not sure and baby/you are fine otherwise then I'd personally wait if it was me probably but that's something only you can decide.

jpaws · 12/12/2019 03:55

@Comps83 also just to add my mw told me what she was doing the whole way through - maybe see if yours would be happy to check to see if your cervix was favourable ... if it isn't then tell her you don't want a sweep? At least then you'd know if your body is getting ready or not first. Just a thought.

Comps83 · 12/12/2019 10:16

@jpaws thanks for the info
Still undecided
DH wants me to go ahead with it but I think that’s for his own selfish reasons
Might do a separate post and look at the consensus. Most people I’ve spoken to say to wait though .

@Comps83 no problem. Do what feels right for you 😊

Comps83 · 12/12/2019 11:37

I’m getting the same answer, basically people wouldn’t until it’s overdue. I’m sure this has more to do with surgery opening hours than anything else and I don’t think that’s a good enough reason to interfere early

starflake · 12/12/2019 11:48

@Comps83 definitely do what makes you feel more comfortable. I'm delighted to be getting a sweep today but it's my 4th pregnancy & I have had one before. I've never heard of anyone react badly or etc from one, mainly it works or doesnt. I actually had my easiest labour after having it on DD2, the other labours I didn't have one & they were very long drawn out labours!
I think midwife's only give them also if there is a reason to or if ur favourable. If for any reason you don't want to or scared I wouldn't get it.

Comps83 · 12/12/2019 11:52

@starflake thanks. If there was a medical reason I wouldn’t hesitate but it seems to be more of a ‘convenience for them’ reason

Hi all, glad I’ve found this thread! Congratulations @Mamabear12! I’m 39 weeks tomorrow, having a few period type pains but only occasionally, I think baby will be late. Hoping it won’t be Christmas Day but we will see...

December2019 · 12/12/2019 12:27

Glad I found this thread again 😊
I'm 38+3 and I was having BH contractions last night (I think they where anyway) and today I've got lots of cramping & back pain so I'm hoping he comes early, I'm due on the 23rd but it's my little boys 1st birthday on that day and have a little family get together planned

December2019 · 12/12/2019 12:27

@Mamabear12 congratulations by the way 😍😊

Mamabear12 · 12/12/2019 13:25

GrannyClanger I had the period type pains earlier in the day that would come and go. I thought maybe she coming early or maybe it’s just body preparing. It was very minor through out the day. I managed to go out, meet friends for tea etc. But by early evening the period pains became slightly stronger and 5 mins apart. Waters broke and went to hospital and just under 3 hours later she was here.

jpaws · 12/12/2019 20:22

I feel like I've had an easy ride so far but I'm so ready to have the baby here now. Been for a walk today, eaten spicy food and currently on the birth ball (& have been all evening). Come on baby 😆

GrannyClanger · 12/12/2019 22:45

@jpaws I’ve been on the birth ball too Grin @Mamabear12 I will see if anything develops overnight!

jpaws · 13/12/2019 07:11

Well I'm still the same! Will see what today brings 🙈

Comps83 · 13/12/2019 12:35

Should I by now have had boob leakage or just any sort of sign that they are going to work as so far I have had nothing what so ever

@Comps83 I haven’t had anything either, but not worried about it Smile

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 13/12/2019 13:13

@Comps83 @GrannyClanger me neither!!
Nothing at all!! Still no sign this baby is going to make a move any time soon 🙄

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 13/12/2019 13:16

@December2019 did your cramps progress to anything? How are you feeling?

December2019 · 13/12/2019 13:36

@JequesWhite reported!

December2019 · 13/12/2019 13:37

@TTc2019BabyNo1 no nothing yet 😩 it's the worst part waiting isn't it... I think this little monkey will keep me on my toes for this last bit lol
