mrsstresshead - post your (perfectly understandable) rant under legal issues on here - there are loads of legal type mumsnetters who either could advise you or have been through something similar. Being pregnant is not an illness and they are on very very thin ice if you even suspect this treatment might be leading up to a dismissal.

V on your behalf!

I worked in an art shop when I was pg with ds and I got a seat at the till every time I was serving there, but it was an all female staff which I think makes a difference.

You know you can rant on here whenever you need to

asicsgirl · 11/10/2007 09:46

So sorry grinningbee. Thinking of you x

podglet · 11/10/2007 11:09

mrstresshead - that is terrible treatment. Please post that on Legal on here and see what advice you get. When I was pg with DS last year, I was overlooked for a promotion (2 girls less senior than me were promoted) and luckily I am good friends with my then manager and we sorted it out but they knew they were on v thin ice. I am sure working with so many lads won't help but they do need to understand. for you.

I am ot sure how my company are going to react when I turn up for my first day after a year off with DS and announce they have me for just less than 6 months before I go on mat leave again

Met my midwife yesterday - she is fan. Things have changed quite a bit here since I had DS just 11 months ago I also have my scan date for 25th Oct - we have decided not to tell anyone until I have had the scan - that is going to be soooo difficult I will be nearly 13 weeks by that point too.

Hello

I am new to this thread but have previously enjoyed the support of the April showers (2006) thread. DD is now a delightful talking walking laughing lovely 17 month old!

I am not entirely sure when I am due as my cycle is pretty unpredictable, but the general consensus is probably the end of May 2008, so I must have joined the right thread

I have not had the best start, as after only a week on knowing we are expecting i started bleeding (and have been now for about 10 days) not ideal
i also have cramps....

I have huge sympathy for grinningbee - I'm worried that may be where I am headed. Still, the doctors tell me this happens quite commonly in early pregnancy, and while there is an increased risk of loss it is not necessarily the case... and on the positive side I have had two visits to the early pregnancy assessment unit, where the doctors are lovely, and the scans show a little squidge that is the baby (7.7mm at last scan on Tuesday just gone) and more importantly a heart beat HUGE relief. I have to go back again on tuesday next or sooner if anything "changes" . Fingers crossed things will change for the better.

enough for now, I hope I get to stay onthis thread for the arrivals of helathy babies and am looking forward to chatting and getting to know everyone through the months.

Secreteater x
(I am permanantly starving at the moment and i eat in secret as then it doesn't count!!)

toffeecrisp · 11/10/2007 12:27

Hi

I've not been on in a while have been soooo sick and if I'm not feeling sick then I am starving hungry. Actually the sickness is going and I am more hungry...constantly. Like many others on here if I am not feeling sick then I panic there is something wrong.

I hope everyone is ok and I'm sorry to hear of some not so sticky beans on this thread my thoughts are with you

I have my 1st mw appt on Tuesday and hopefully a scan not too long after, I'm going to plead that I have no idea about dates after stopping the pill and also previous mc to see if that might hurry things along.

JackBlackRoady · 11/10/2007 13:43

Hi all. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage grinning bee - thinking of you (((hugs))). Mrs stress head - let us know how you get on sorting this out, they are being unfair and you need to kick up a fuss
love to all, JB

ColumbosWife · 11/10/2007 15:07

Hi, I'm so sorry Grinning Bee.

Can I join this thread? I'm due May 15th.
Assuming all goes OK, it will be my third ( we already have ds aged 8 and dd 4 1/2).

Starlight and GrinningBee - I am so sorry, I hope you are ok. Hugs coming your way.

I hate to change the subject now, but I could do with some suggestions.

My other half is based overseas right now, and I feel like he is missing out on so much. There is so much out there for expectant mums, but I would like to find a gift for expectant dads, something that would help him to feel like he is involved. I send him the weekly pregnancy updates I get, and I tell him everything that happens when I visit the doctors, but I would like to get him a little something, to let him know that he is still the special person in my life and without him, this baby wouldnt be here, but it needs to be a baby orientated gift to kind of help him bond with it from thousands of miles away. If he was at home, he would see the fat belly, aching back, huge pants, and all the rest of it, but being so far away I feel he is missing out.

What would you get your man?

Shell

Grinningbee and StarlightMckenzie very sorry to hear your news

I thought I was starting to feel a bit less sick now but this evening has been worse than usual so guess I got that wrong!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

itsazoohere · 11/10/2007 22:25

Can I join? I know it's still early days, but I remember how mumsnet carried me through my last pregnancy. I almost gave birth online! I'm due on the 12th, and this will be my fourth. I'm certain it'll be a girl-I don't think I make boys.

So sorry for your loss Starlight. I don't know how I would cope. Good luck for the future.

My DH is away for three days and I am at home with my DS's - makes me feel very vulnerable if anything were to happen - I would be stuffed - no family in the city and my Best Friend on holdiays in Perth. My poor neighbours would cop it I think. I've had some 'brown loss' during the last week, but the midwife I spoke too was not too concerned.

Anyway 8+2 today and 3 more sleeps till my first scan. I visited my mum today (3hr round trip up the Pacific Highway) and confirmed that not only did her mum have twins but so did her her grandmother. I am huge for 8 weeks and about to dig out my maternity clothes which feels just ridiculous. My heart is excited about the prospect of twins but my head says 'uh oh'. My last pregnancy started out as twins but I lost one by 8 weeks.

Have a nice weekend everyone - feet up and let your DH run around after you and try to have a nanna nap in the afternoons .

Hayleyandbaby · 12/10/2007 12:03

Oh noooooooooooooo it's farts?? I'd not had the farts at all and so I'd convinced myself it was baby. Plus I have so many pains and things down there it feels like it's moving. oh what a shame. I was so excited. Ah well, roll on 16 weeks so I can feel some proper flutters!!!

I've got my 12 week scan at 10-2!! Will I see anything? Last time ( 6 weeks) it was just a tiny little peanut with a heartbeat flickering. I hope I see something. I have the Tommy's Guide to Pregnancy which is FANTASTIC!! And it said in that that the baby has tiny little toothbuds and fingers and toes this week!! It can swallow next week and grows finger and toe nails!! How cute is that.

My scan is 18th October like GoodCatholicGirl. Fingers crossed everything's ok.

I'm sick as a dog again but happy because it keeps reassuring me that I am pregnant. I've just bought a new car for baby so I feel like I'm getting all prepared.

I'm so sorry to everyone who is going through loss at the moment.

toffeecrisp · 12/10/2007 12:10

Hi

I had some light spotting yesterday so fled to the doctors like a woman possessed.

Dr was really lovely, very sympathetic and without me even mentioning it booked me in for a scan next Tuesday morning.

I still feel sick but not as bad as it was which is convincing me that there is something wrong.

Fingers crossed until Tuesday.

JackBlackRoady · 12/10/2007 12:11

Starlight - you poor thing (((hugs))) at least you know you will get pg again.
Shelly - it might be a bit laddish, but this book: The Bloke's Guide to Pregnancy by Jon Smith
is supposed to be funny and good for lads to read, so a friend of mine says.

mrs stress head - roll on Monday - let us know what fireworks happen!

its a zoo here - 4!!! are any of them teenagers???

love to all of you, JBR xxxxx

Hayleyandbaby · 12/10/2007 12:12

Could I just let everybody know the postal strike is stopping everyone get their scan appointments. I rang up for mine fortunately and was told it was a week yesterday. Anyone who needs to get time off work for the scan better ring up their ante-natal dept as you could miss it!

Little annoyed because I couldn't even tell you what the postal strike is over and yet it's affecting things like this- a bit out of order. It's just encouraging me to use e-mail and not postal service from now on!!

podglet · 12/10/2007 14:29

Oh starlight sweetie, I am so sorry to hear your news. Please pamper yourself (have a baileys hot choc for me) and spend lots of time with DS. Sending you lots of hugs and a choc brownie too...

I let slip to a friend today. I haven't seen her for a few years (we used to work together) and we both now have DS's and she was telling me all about her lovely midwife who happens to be my new midwife, so without thinking I said "oh yes, she's fab, she's my midwife too - oh bugger" she's sworn to secrecy!

Feeling more sicky today, very thirsty but not hungry. Beginning to get a bump now but refuse to go into my mat clothes until my scna!

Hope you all have lovely weekends

magicfairy · 12/10/2007 14:48

Hi, just met my midwife, she is lovely and has reassured me that stopping feeling sick at this stage (9 weeks) is normal and no need to worry. I have had a really bad stich like pain in my right side all day yesterday and again today, its not as bad as it was yesetrday but still niggling away. I was advised to take couple of paracetamols and rest (ha! not that easy with DS 13months!)
Sorry to hear of all the losses, my heart goes out to you all, take care and rest up

JackBlackRoady · 12/10/2007 16:27

magicfairy - hope your stitch pain goes away i had that, and i was soooo tired, when i went to the Drs he said I had a kidney infection - it has knocked me out, i am knackered, and the antibiotics i am taking make you feel sick as a side effect, so just to make sure i thought i would mention it but i hope your pain goes away! xxx
