I found this thread, I hope it is useful to some-one.

wise words

motherhysteria · 23/08/2007 17:35

oops, just noticed the spelling - no 'u'

Amyclaramum's baby is Eloise

Was typing it one-handed whilst holding my seven month old and dishing out snacks to other two dc's!!!

TwitmonstEr · 23/08/2007 17:35

looby, is your mouth really sore now? lol

TwitmonstEr · 23/08/2007 17:36

[breathes a sigh of relief as I feel I was projecting earlier...]

FlossALump · 23/08/2007 17:41

Oh no dal. Have you posted anywhere about it?

Muslin squares are much cheaper on ebay - will try and link hang on!

PurpleLostPrincess · 23/08/2007 17:42

CONGRATULATIONS AMYCLARAMUM!!!!! How exciting, hope it all went well! What a beautiful name!! Thank you motherhysteria for updating us!!!!

I've been getting bh loads, especially when I've been busy in the daytime and I too was worried about lo shivering, thank goodness I'm not alone on that one! DH is much the same - he'll have a look for a quick moment then carry on with what he's doing - he says once he's seen it, there's not much point it watching any more I could watch her for hours wriggling around in there!

Glad its stopped raining in London! It was meant to be nice here today but its been quite overcast and not too warm.

I finally got off the settee and parked myself on DD1's bed setee and gave her directions on tidying up her room. I'm sooooo relieved to have finally got it tidy and even more happy to have done it without lifting a finger! She has got to learn to keep it in order!!!!

As far as muslin squares go, I've got some and I'm planning on using them to go over my shoulder when bf'ing so I'm not on show to everybody. Other than that, they'll be extra bibs/cleaning up material...

I'm really pleased DH made me watch the first and second Bourne films as they were brilliant! I'm definitely looking forward to the third one!

twit and kerri - glad you're feeling OK!

dal, I'm happy to receive updates on the list it doesn't bother me at all - I just update the spreadsheet with any new stuff...

MrsMar - I signed up to facebook this morning but I just can't get the hang of it! I know there are people from my school who have signed up but I can't find my school, let alone the people!? I have the same problem with work colleagues...!?

FlossALump · 23/08/2007 17:53

Thank you!

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 17:54

thanks for that link floss, much better

TinaLC · 23/08/2007 18:16

Hello everyone

Just finished work so hopefully can keep up with you very chatty lot! Great thread name by the way

Congratulations Amyclaramum and Lou - lovely names. 2 babies makes it seem very real.

My bub is still breech and so am booked for ECV in 10 days. The policy at Kingston is if it doesn't work to then book you in for c section. Like Dal I am trying to juggle 2 scenarios of natural birth (which I was all prepared for) and now getting my head around a potential c section. Not overally fed up at having to have a c section...more worried about the recovery. Can anyone reassure me you are not completely helpless? I have been as active as possible through preganancy so facing the prospect of being immobile is not my favourite option.

Hope everyone managing ok through these last stages. Your posts do keep me sane.

dal21 · 23/08/2007 18:24

Twit - that is one of the best threads I have read in ages. Thanks for posting the link! Am defo glad I read it before this one arrives! What do you ladies with a LO already think about what they say?

Ok ladies - will re-send the whole list out.

Floss - no havent posted about them anywhere...may do so on the pregnancy thread.

PLP - facebook needs to come with an instruction manual. I finally got on it a few weeks ago and am still trying to get my head round it. The important part is to lock down your privacy (if that is important to you) before putting too much info on there. I have mine locked down quite a lot so only my friends can see my details (not their friends aswell). I have also not shown my DOB on there since it is a question that is asked for security reasons on so many accounts - didnt want it out in the public domain!

dal21 · 23/08/2007 18:27

Hoorah TinaLC on starting mat leave!!

It is really disconcerting having to think about the two scenarios isnt it? We have a breech watch thread on the pregnancy board if you want to post on there also. I found quite a good website with tons of info on breech births that i posted on there. Understand it all a little more now.
My SIL had a csection and she was fine - a little sore but up and about in no time at all and driving way before the 6 weeks was up. Her scar is non existent!

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 18:32

Hello Tina - you wont be completely helpless following your c/s. the best advice i can give is take the pain killers when offered even if you feel you dont need them, try and get mobile as soon as you can, within reason of course, the more you mobilise the less stiff you will feel, use evrybody around you but most important rest, a contradiction i know but if you feel you need to, do so

MrsMar · 23/08/2007 18:35

Tina - good luck with the ecv. I'm still waiting to find out what this baby's position is grrrr!!

I'm hopeless on facebook plp... I've gone through dh's page and pinched all his friends... when I set up my page it went through my hotmail address book emailing everyone to request they become my friend... makes me feel like such a saddo, but actually I've been in touch with two friends I haven't spoken to in ages, so it's great in that respect!

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 18:39

did the midwife contact you Mrsmar?

MrsBumblebee · 23/08/2007 18:41

Congratulations Amyclaramum!! And I love the name.

Our first NCT baby came to the coffee morning today - only a week and a half old. He's gorgeous (and called Griffin, which I think is really cute). It made me all impatient to have mine, though the mum looked a bit spaced . To be expected, I guess. Only thing that worried me slightly was that she was absolutely determined to breastfeed, but had already stopped before she left hospital because it was so awful. I'm really keen to breastfeed, and have just assumed it would be ok if tricky - now I'm a bit less confident...

MrsM, re muslin squares, I got mine from Mothercare and I think they were quite cheap. My sister used billions because she had a sicky baby (breast not bottle fed), so I bought tons.

HIWBB, not sure if you wanted list of what I cooked, or more details on the dahl. I cooked: fish pies, ratatouille and a couple of different quiches. Also planning to do some cottage pies next week, if it's not too late! The dahl: briefly, you cook 175g red lentils in 400ml stock until it's absorbed, adding a chopped tomato or two a few minutes before the end. Separately, fry an onion until VERY brown (vital for flavour), then add a chopped mild chilli, some garlic, grated ginger and curry powder. Then mix everything together with 200ml coconut cream and chopped coriander. Serves 2 generously as main course with rice or naan. The real secret is the quality of the curry powder - I use Bolst cos it's gorgeous, but I can only get it online (you've guessed it, I'm a bit of a food obsessive...).

MrsBumblebee · 23/08/2007 18:42

Oh, and good luck Kerri!!

Pennypops · 23/08/2007 18:45

Congratulations Amyclaramum amd welcome to the world to little Eloise! ]grin]
Such pretty names from those of us who have popped already it makes me secretly hope that my little (or rather v large) surprise is a girl too!

Hopey - my lo gets monster hiccups, so much so it makes my belly shake a lot! Happens several times a day now. Watching it is one of the ways I keep myself amused - I so need to get out more. Glad to see you liked Bourne Ultimatum - dh and I we are off to see it at the weekend.

Looby - I don't think I've had BH's either but then I am getting more and more period type pains and lower back ache although they are still very mild. I don't necessarily have to be walking to trigger them now which I used to. MY bump doesn't seem to tighten though - I think everyone just gets different sensations.

Dal - with you on the nursery retailers. You probably have similar taste to me in that everything you want to order is out of stock!

I've bought lots of plain white muslins as apparently they are multi purpose shoulder protectors, bibs, wipes and even emergency changing mats.

Tina - I hope your ECV does the trick. I'm a newbie so can't advise re sections but can send you lots of good luck vibes for your turning. You never know, the lo might have shifted itself by then.

dal21 · 23/08/2007 18:49

PP - nope, not out of stock. Found a stokke stockist on monday who delivered all my stuff within 24 hours! The muppet i have been dealing with couldnt guarantee delivery after still waiting for 8 weeks! He has taken 9 weeks to deliver the simplest items that I could get from john lewis in store - like the medela swing pump! I just like to support independant/ local businesses, so ordered everything in bulk from this place and have been thoroughly let down! Not again in a hurry I can tell you!

Pennypops · 23/08/2007 18:55

Yes I can see how annoying that would be! I've nearly lost it with Mothercare on the stock issue once or twice. You just get the "well if its not in stock we can't order it or even give you an estimated date" and then they wonder why you get annoyed. Grrrrr.

dal21 · 23/08/2007 18:58

I said to DH earlier - if he was local to me (he is local to mum and where i grew up) i would chop his nuts off and shove them down his throat! I normally a calm person - but combo of preggo hormones and being messed around. Grr. Its not like waiting for a piece of non urgent furniture....errm I need a carseat before the baby arrives! Dimwit! Rant over.

canadianmum · 23/08/2007 19:22

CONGRATULATIONS LOU AND AMYCLARAMUM - Let the pink party begin!!

dal - I have been having nightmares with Peter Jones of all places re: school uniform for my boys. And they have a great reputation, seems you can't get consistency of service anywhere these days .

rin - I was sent for consultant's appt. at 24 wks due to previous pre-eclampsia which is why I know who they are at Georges. The fact you haven't seen them is probably because you have had a wonderful straightforward pregnancy. You really shouldn't have to refer yourself to them, the midwives should do that when they feel it is appropriate and then the consultant's will advise what to do next IYSWIM.

HIWBB - I am really trying to get this bub to turn, lots of hands and knees and birth ball. No more lounging on sofa . However, midwife did say it was "good" OP, whatever that means. Will be interesting to see what she says next week. FYI my boys were born at 32+5 and we took them home 4 weeks later which would be the equivalent of.......TODAY . How weird is that? I will feel relieved to get to Saturday - 37 weeks and FULL TERM - hallelujah!!

Had a minor scare today, GP called this morning to say I had UTI and to pick up prescription for antibiotics. I told her I had no symptoms other than tiredness and I hate antibiotics, so she suggested another quick test. Just got the results and it is clear - hurray! Have spent alll of today worrying. Now the problem is I feel a bit tired and fluey - , so is it all just in my head now???

TwitmonstEr · 23/08/2007 19:24

dd also used to get hiccups, and got them when she was born as well, at the same sort of time of day!
I haven't had a c-section [to date lol] so I can't offer any further advise really. I have heard that arnica is useful, for healing with both c-sections and 'normal' deliveries.
If I don't see you sooner, good luck and let us know how you're doing.
