Thats interesting canadianmum, when I went to the antenatal clinic yesterday they detected protein in my urine so I had to do another 'sterile' sample and drop it into my surgery later in the afternoon. I've been feeling really really crappy today so I'm wondering if I might have a UTI but I don't have any other symptoms Glad yours came back OK! Do you mind if I ask you how long it took for them to give you your results? I know it can vary from surgery to surgery but I'm just curious now...

emj23 · 23/08/2007 19:36

In that case welcome to baby Eloise, congrats again amyclaramum and thanks for updating us motherhysteria!

I'm getting worried about my MW appointment tomorrow as last time I saw her, LO was breech and OP and I have no idea if she's turned around. I hadn't thought about even the possibility of having to have ECV or CS as my last pg was so problem free, so I really hope all the wriggling she's been doing has got her round the right way now!
Also I think they will be taking blood again, my iron levels had dropped last time, and I really hate blood tests due to the problem of my invisible veins.

Raaaah.
That's better.

PurpleLostPrincess · 23/08/2007 19:37

LOL - sorry dal, I thought you were talking about DH's nuts then but have re-read your previous post and now get what you mean! Hope it all gets sorted, that must be sooo frustrating!

willjo · 23/08/2007 19:48

Hello lovely pregnant mummies!!

Huge, huge congratulations to lou on the birth of your daughter Jasmine Zoe, what wonderful news, the 1st 'September' baby - enjoy every second

HIWBB - thanks for the TENS and BT monitor link - I'll check it out.

MrsMar - thanks for sharing your experince on the lovely perenial massage!

Toadstool - So glad all looks great with LO and you haven't had any more leaks. ALl the best with your test results and appointments, keep us posted.

Canadianmum - I have an independent midwife (well 2 actually) and they are fab. Haven't heard of the belly button theory before but I have been most dissapointed that mine hasn't stuck out! There is a website called spinning babies which is full of tips for getting babies in position.
Same, re perenial massage!

PLP - I hope all goes well with your scan glad they are checking on you weekly.

Very exciting with all this show talk

Ok, I think that's Wednesday's messages, now I need to plough through Thursday - honestly anyone would think we didn't have jobs to go to or babies to prepare for

Take care all xx

dal21 · 23/08/2007 19:50

PLP - LOL, would never do that to DH, he is far too lush!
Fortunately it is mostly sorted - cancelled most of our order and reordered from other retailers. Final bits arrive tomorrow.

willjo · 23/08/2007 20:03

Another baby announcement, hmmm, me thinks I should bring my head out of the sand and start preparing my home-birth box

Wonderful news Amyclaramum on the birth of your baby girl Elouise Sarah - can't wait to hear how you're all getting on

Mrsfish - I spoke to my midwife about Braxton HIcks as mine are really uncomfortable and lasting a long time - she said lots of women find them uncomfortable and they can last for about 20 mins, especially if you are walking - my tummy goes rock hard (that's when I get people to have a feel of bump and then they think, oh so it is all baby and not chocolate cookies

Ok, feeding time again...

Chattyhan · 23/08/2007 20:13

Amyclaramum - Congratulations on the birth of Eloise xx

Dal - no probs re: pain in leg theory! I just hope you're not suffering too much!

Lou it was nice to hear you're doing well.

Kerri - it was nice to have a real life account of a stretch and sweep and exciting that your midwife thinks things are happening! Keep us posted.

Rin - i'm frequently confused about lo position so i'm glad it's not just me. I spend ages prodding soft and hard bits trying to figure it out!

ECATLM - I agree with your theory that there must be people who have to take DC to hospital with them. Worst case scenario i think DP will be looking after DS while i'm giving birth but judging by the amount of help he was last time! Maybe thats not a bad thing As my midwife has advised me to take DS because of history of fast labour and get someone to pick him up from there i will argue that fact if anyone complains

HIWBB - Did your granite arrive? I watched the Bourne Ultimatum at the weekend and thought it was brilliant.

Kelmcd - Thanks for a midwife opinion on taking DC i agree in an ideal world we wouldn't plan to take DS with us but if its a choice of birth in car trying to drop DS of somewhere and DS at hospital i'm sure people will put up with him

Emj - I like watching the baby move around and following the prods as well - i think it's one of those pregnancy things that you always remember!

Loobybump - i don't seem to get Braxton hicks or at least notice them! Didn't last time and nothing yet this time. I do however get period type cramps and stitch type twinges which my midwife claims are definately not BH but stretching pains anyway i was having this discussion with a friend and i disagree with my midwife i think the period cramps are my BH even if there don't seem to be any tightenings!

MrsBumblebee - re: breastfeeding - the gereral opinion is that the first 2 weeks are hard but if you persevere it gets a whole lot easier after that. I had a badly cracked nipple after 10 days due to bad positioning and would cry when feeding from that side! But once i hit the 2 week mark both DS and i had it sussed and i'm so pleased i didn't give up. I have friends who couldn't make it to 2 weeks and wish they'd just tried that bit longer. If after 2 weeks it just isn't working then at least you've given it your best shot and lo has benefited from that

willjo · 23/08/2007 20:26

Oooooohhhhh, Kerr28 that is soooooo exciting!!!
I'm glad the sweep was ok and what exciting news, 2cm eh?! Do keep us updated and all the very best

PurpleLostPrincess · 23/08/2007 21:07

Why oh why do I choose to live with these zoo animals!?

DH went up to have a shower so I said "please tidy up after yourself!" - I go up later to find all the bath stuff in the sink, the windows all wide open and his underwear on the floor and a wet towel thrown over the bed!

I look around this house and every time I get one room straight, they have made their mark in the last one I did!!!

I'm not asking them to do stuff for me, just to tidy up after themselves - is that so much to ask when I'm 8 months pregnant and in pain!?

To top it all off, my bh's have started up again and DH said to me "haven't you figured out yet that you get them when you're stressed? The answer to that is to not get stressed!!!!" I tell you now, my DH is lush but when he's like that, I could easily do things to his nuts!!!!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrr, sorry to rant, I just needed to get it out of my system!!!!!!!!!!!! Please just ignore me - I'm sure I'll calm down later but for now I feel like balling my eyes out!!!!!

EmLouT · 23/08/2007 22:43

Congratulations Amyclaramum - what a beautiful name!

Trinity1 - thanks for adding me to the stats!

Just popped in to catch up before bed but this thread is growing so fast it is almost impossible to keep up. DH is away tonight and I am feeling surprisingly jumpy about being on my own - I have no reason to believe that anything will happen tonight - am only 37 weeks but I just feel a bit vulnerable being here on my own. Does that sound stupid?

Can't remember who but someone mentioned sitting outside eating ice pops and I was wondering where she is - the weather here is dreadful, it hasn't stopped raining all day. How I long for some sunshine!

Off to bed now. Sleep well lovely pregnant people.

dal21 · 24/08/2007 07:08

Morning everyone!

LOL PLP - I think we all have those moments with our DH's. I am laughing that he pointed out you getting BH's when stressed. men huh? lush but they have their moments of cluelessness!

Feeling much more human this morning after resting yesterday.

No sun in london today - gloomy and rainy again. Oh well - have great days everyone...wonder if anyone popped overnight?

MrsFish · 24/08/2007 08:10

Morning EmLouT - It was me eating ice pops and icecream yesterday. I live in Derbyshire, the weather was hot and sunny yesterday and is looking that way again today, off to the park this morning with a friend and dc. Hope it picks up for you lot down South later

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/08/2007 08:32

Thanks dal, I can laugh about it now and I have calmed down loads. I have to say it took me back when he started trying to tell me what was what!! I shouldn't complain about this lot as they are soooo helpful and they don't complain if I ask them to do something for me. In fact, they deserve a medal for putting up with me lately LOL!

Sorry you haven't got any sun yet dal, hope it cheers up for you!

Have a lovely day MrsFish - don't forget your suncream!

I feel much more human today also thank goodness! Hope everybody is feeling OK!?

PLP (35+6!!!!!) xxx

Pennypops · 24/08/2007 09:15

Morning PLP - I'm glad you're feeling a bit more human today. Having said that a bit more support from your family prob wouldn't go amiss, especially given your hip problems. Perhaps a gentle word is required?

Mrsfish - enjoy the sunshine! Its perking up here in Reading now so I can get some washing done! I'm so rock and roll. I'm too scared to go out in the sun as last time I sat in the shade for a few hours and still managed to get sunburned? Wierd preg induced skin sensitivity I think.

Canadianmum - hope you feel better too!

Well I woke up in a right state this morning - I keep having dreams that I am not looking after my baby properly when it arrives and that I just neglect it I'm starting to worry about what my subconscious is telling me. I know crazy dreams and pregnancy go together but really, I can do without these. Does anyone else get these? Or did you get them when it was your first baby?

MrsFish · 24/08/2007 09:18

When I was pregnant with ds1 I kept dreaming that I lost him, or left him somewhere or he was kidnapped and I was chasing after them trying to get him back. Not nice, but they are ONLY dreams

Holly29 · 24/08/2007 09:23

TinaLC,

Snap! I went for my appointment last night and my wee one is also breech and I am booked in for an ECV in 2 weeks. My hospital's policy is also c-section if it fails so I reckon I am going to have 2 weeks of trying everything I can, every exercise and moxa root and you name it!

I spoke to a friend who had ECV last night and she said she found it really painful...great!

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/08/2007 09:23

Here you go PennyPops, [http://www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/health_wellness/sleep_pregnant/a190/1 dream stuff] I found this really helped me as it gives an idea of what sorts of dreams to expect in the different trimesters etc. I get strange dreams when not pg and they get even worse when I am!!!

I've had a quick word with DH and he has apologised, I think I was just getting myself in a state really! Thing is, he is concentrating really hard on going to work every day so I don't want to cause too much fuss!

Things are brightening up here too (I'm not far from you, I'm in Basingstoke)... Thinking of going to Aldershot Lido tomorrow if the weather is good enough!

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/08/2007 09:24

dream stuff sorry, I never seem to get it right first time!!!

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/08/2007 09:25

Awww Holly, hope lo turns on its own without any hassle xx

Chattyhan · 24/08/2007 09:27

PLP - sympathise with you on the DP front - i'm sick of having to point out little things that really make a difference to me! This morning its golf clubs left right next to DS highchair so he can't get up by himself so do i wrestle with the golf clubs which are balanced on and wedged behind the fan? Or have DS climb on and over the table! It really does my head in and i'm in a foul mood today anyway! DP is working today/tonight/tomorrow and tomorrow night so no help/company until sunday and then he'll be so knackered he'll just lounge around winding me up! Knowing that definately isn't helping my mood! Anyway rant over!

36+5

Chattyhan · 24/08/2007 09:29

Reading and Basingstoke - glad the weathers looking brighter maybe it'll be with me (nr Farnham) soon?

Pennypops · 24/08/2007 09:34

Thanks for the link PLP and comment Mrsfish- its made me feel a bit better! I guess its logical that as a first timer I am anxious about being up to the mark as a Mummy! Sometimes I think that all these books/tv progs/govt advice etc. have turned being a parent into a competitive sport which doesn't seem massively constructive. Anyway, now isn't the time or place for a rant on my part!

PLP - have a fab time at Aldershot lido! The forecast for the weekend is great so enjoy. I can't wait to take my lo swimming as soon as he/she is old enough!

Holly - am sending you turning vibes!!

Awww bless you chatty, they can be a pain can't they!

I was thinking of putting up signs around the house saying "I CAN'T BEND OVER - PICK UP YOUR STUFF!!!" but I'm sure it would be a waste of time!

Hope you make it through the next few days and that your DP doesn't slouch around too much when he gets home! xx

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/08/2007 09:38

Hope the sun reaches you in Farnham soon chatty!

FioFio - yes mine have been getting slightly stronger and longer but because they're still not regular I'm not too worried. Have yours been getting much worse then?
