Is your LO's hiccups getting more and more, well just 'more'. My LO has just started another bout of hiccups and I can feel it in my tummy and ahum, in my bum too They're so strong now, they're like kicks.

Definitely hiccups

YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

It's a lovely name [I should know lol] although normally doesn't have a 'u'....

YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

Oh, by the way I've noticed that I'm due on the 15th on the stats; actually due on the 14th. not a big deal really, I obviously haven't a clue lol

TwitmonstEr · 23/08/2007 16:21

We get hiccups too lol

emj23 · 23/08/2007 16:23

Is everyone being told they need muslin squares? I didn't have any last time, I don't think I had even heard of them. I've seen some people on the 'What do I need for a new baby' type threads say they bought loads of them and never used any...

dal21 · 23/08/2007 16:25

Kemlcd - I know, oh well - just have to bite the bullet on that one! I should start up a muslin business from home - LOL!

Twit - was wondering where you were? Any more contractions.

Holly29 - thanks for your details. I am going to send the whole list out to you. Unless everyone else minds another mass mailing? I just dont want to annoy anyone. Let me know if you dont all mind getting it.

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/08/2007 16:25

Have to admit I didn't use them with either my boys. But they weren't particularly sicky/spitty babies, so I guess I was lucky I didn't need them.

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/08/2007 16:26

Don't mind dal.

TwitmonstEr · 23/08/2007 16:34

I've got muslin squares as I use them as nappies at first.
They are really quite useful when feeding or winding, but can be used as a makeshift bib, face cloth etc when lo's are older.
I wouldn't advise loads unless you know you will be bottle feeding, as they are easy to wash and dry.

no, no contractions today just a shite nights sleep. If it happens again I might just see who's about here...lol

MrsFish · 23/08/2007 16:36

I don't mind Dal

As regards muslin squares, I used all the ones I bought, lots.

thanks for the info
my LO is constantly getting hiccups 3-4 a day, they can feel quite violent sometimes. he also seems to shiver/shake at times to, scared me at first but dr reassured me it was normal just an odd feeling

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/08/2007 16:49

kelmcd, my LO does the shivers/shakes thing too. V strange sensation, my other two didn't do that!

OP posts:
emj23 · 23/08/2007 16:49

I agree kelmcd, the hiccupy/shaky feeling is very odd indeed sometimes, like an earthquake going on. I think I'm starting to bug DP by sitting down and staring at my bump as it jumps about, and telling him he has to look. I still find it fascinating to watch a 'lump' under the skin move from one side to the other. Okay, I sound like a loon now.

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 16:50

Glad to hear someone else has that too. i got myself really worked up about it the first time it happened, i couldn't recall anybody asking me about it before, so naturally i thought there was a problem

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 16:53

emj23 - i am still fascinated when he moves, and like you get DH to watch, he isn't as interested. maybe you have to feel it at the same time, dont know but DH usually gives a quick glance and then back to what he is doing

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/08/2007 16:56

My DH is the same!

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 23/08/2007 16:57

We went to see the Bourne Ultimatum last night (v v v good!) and LO was going like mad in there, it was very distracting, needless to say, I didn't mention to DH during the film

OP posts:
MrsFish · 23/08/2007 17:02

kelmcd and emj - I can spend hours watching my bump too, I find it relaxing and amazing. My dh is the same, I tell him to look and he barely gives it a glance before turning back to the tv. He definitely isn't half as involved with the pregnancy second time round

Anyone else getting loads of Braxton Hicks? I seem to get loads and loads which are really uncomfortable now and they last longer than the 30-60 seconds the books say

34+4

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 17:03

Yeah probably wouln'd have been the best time to get him to be paternal quite a few people have said that that film is a goodin, might have to go and check it out!

kelmcd · 23/08/2007 17:06

ive had lots of lower pain today, think i over did the cleaning. BH getting more frequent as well.

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/08/2007 17:08

Def go and see it kelmcd, I wasn't particularly interested in going to see it but DH insisted, I thought it was a brilliant film! He's SO cool.

MrsMar · 23/08/2007 17:26

HIWBB - there are always advantages to everything, my party trick used to be that I can tuck my feet behind my head!! I used to be very popular with the boys hehehehe!! of course all that naughtiness has stopped now I'm a married woman! !!

Muslin squares - I'm a pathetic first time mother and bought a load at JJMMBB cos they were pretty blue ones!!! again ! How silly am I cos they're just going to get puked on! My sister did say she used hers loads in millions of different ways. Her dd2 still uses one as a comforter (hmmm she's going to have fun prising that one out of her when she's a teenager! I had a comforter - a bit of old terry towelling nappy - til I was 13 !!)

Stop press!!!!!! It's stopped raining here!!! I can't believe it!!!! I've been on facebook most of the day cos it's been so horrendous here!

I don't think I've had any BH yet, I'm 36 weeks. Of course I might be having them and not notice, which can apparently happen. I do get some tightening when I walk around a bit, esp if I've been sitting down for a while (which I do all the time!!)

dal21 · 23/08/2007 17:28

Grrr...I am ready to maim someone.....is there a place on mumsnet to feedback on dire nursery retailers??? Sorry for hijack but this business is getting more and more internet exposure and I want fellow mnetters to know that they are a nightmare to deal with (and no, it isnt two left feet)

Am off to look somewhere.
