Nah Hopey - leave me on there! Keeps the excitement going. will it turn, wont it???

Hopeitwontbebig · 03/09/2007 13:36

Just thought, we've not heard from Twitmonster for a while. I wonder if she's had her LO??????

EmLouT · 03/09/2007 15:35

Afternoon all - I have just got back from accupuncture - another part of my drive to get this baby to arrive smoothly and on time. It was actually very relaxing and I would thoroughly recommend it - even if it is just because it gives your mind something to focus on (of course the fact that it is free on the NHS is a big bonus).

Hope everyone is having a good day - enjoy the maternity leave ladies. The peace won't last for long!

spraklynewthing · 03/09/2007 15:54

Hi HIWBB,

SORRY - I know I completely fell off the mumsnet radar - I have been pants....but I'm back now! I was totally down in the dumps for a while and didn't think I had very much postive to contribute - it would have been MOAN, MOAN, MOAN, MOAN - much better now though!

How's your DH doing? My DH is SO excited about baby now - we have invested in a baby sling which we hope will give him more confidence holding her when sitting now. We are pretty sure he will have probs holding her or carrying her in the early days as he only have two type of grip - no grip or vice like! We am super confident we will find ways around it though.

Thanks for the welcome back Chatty - no, not long now! I am seeing consultant on Wednesday and may be induced on sooner rather than later as she doesn't want me to get too big...watch this space.

EmlouT - totally accupunture convert too - is super relaxing isn't it?!

kelmcd · 03/09/2007 16:38

Afternoon ladies and bumps and babies

Just got back from hosp, LO wasn't moving too much this a.m so went for tracing - all ok. saw my midwife who tried to do a sweep but not quite ready yet, will just have to wait and see. IOL booked for T+10 so have a date to work towards.
Hope you are all enjoying being ladies of leisure and all bumps are behaving

sophus · 03/09/2007 17:12

M/w appt today. All well and good. Told me that baby was a right chunka-munka which was no surprise (all big babies in our family). Booked in for a sweep next monday if it doesn't do its duty beforehand, she told me to "go home, have a curry, glass of wine and get your husband to do his stuff." Am on the RLT pretty religiously and also going to try the nipple stimulation thing which sounds very undignified but in-for-a-penny....Am determined to get this fatso out of me one way or t'other.
xxx

EmLouT · 03/09/2007 17:19

Sophus - I know what you mean about the determination to get the not so little one out. Mine is apparently rather large but, despite a very hot curry, lots of RLT, a whole pineapple, accupuncture and doing the unspeakable, there is still no sign of him arriving - any other suggestions - does wine help?

Hopeitwontbebig · 03/09/2007 18:18

Vodka?

Hopeitwontbebig · 03/09/2007 18:24

Sprakly, so nice to have you back. Sorry to hear you've been so down, you naughty girl you, this IS the place to come and moan, we would have listened gladly. Now don't do it again!!

Where did you get your sling from? Is it a specific one for disabled parenting? I've got a number I need to call for a lady who works at an organisation in Oxford. We've also got occupational therapy who are looking into things for us. DH is amazing. He's had a rough run of it lately, 3 operations in just 6 weeks. Mainly down to non-union of his fractures. Apparently this isn't uncommon with brachial plexus injuries. He's so amazing, just gets on with it really. I think I'M the one who's struggling to get their head around how he'll cope with bub more than he is. He's a 'we'll work it out' laid back kind of guy. My hero! He still hasn't got any function below his shoulder really, so it's just the left arm he can use. How's your DH?

OP posts:
sophus · 03/09/2007 18:37

wine makes you feel happy and relaxed which helps the oxytocin do its thing.

exercise as well, although that requires the ability to move. i live on a hill so just need to roll myself down it then struggle up again.

pineapples not worth it, as you need to eat a minimum of eight and even then the active ingredient is still in the wrong form, or summat like that.

reflexology on your ankles

clary sage in your bath

think thats it!

only problem with it coming this week is it means missing Kitchen Criminals and i don't know if i'm prepared to do that for any baby.

xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 03/09/2007 18:42

sophus.

I was thinking that about PLP, she loves the XFactor, what a shame she missed some of it on Saturday!!

OP posts:
yetihed · 03/09/2007 18:51

Hello! May I join you? I am 37+1 and have only recently discovered MN. What fun I've been missing out on. Is it too early for me to start eating curry etc etc, do you think? I had a scan this week and found out I have a big bruiser on the way, bless 'im! (that's the baby, not my DP)

MMooMar · 03/09/2007 19:08

Hi ALL,
congratulations and well done to

Filbrit, Sparks02 ,ECALTM ,Kerri28 and PLP
and
welcome and hugs and kissesto
Natalia Zoe,iris ,babyenormous,Niamh and Cerys xxxxxxxxx

Just a quick look to see who`s popping, went to post on Saturday when I saw Filbrit and Sparks but computer went on a go slow then crashed and rather then smash it up I switched it off and calmly walked away!

Anyway never had time yesterday spent the whole day cleaning, sorting stuff out, getting the new blinds up in the bedrooms and generally nesting I suppose.DP was doing his nut saying I ought to sit down ,etc, etc. but you know what its like.Today I`ve done all the bed linen, washed dried and ironed it,so been busy again. Not had chance to catch up on all the posts but hope to do it tomorrow so can you all take it easy with the posting so I can catch up.

My right foot is the size of the world,or so it feels and I have gone into overdrive with the peeing, sick of the sight of the bathroom.Had some real close calls I can tell you.BH are getting more intense as well so all gearing up nicely.

Anyway off to do dinner now, having a chicken stir fry(yum!)catch you all later.

Love to all ,babes included.

MrsFish · 03/09/2007 19:14

Welcome yetihed

EmLouT · 03/09/2007 19:14

Hello Yetihed - pleased to have you with us. I don't know when the optimum time to eat curries etc is - I am 38+4 and have been at it in earnest since the weekend - no sign of any movement yet though.

Sophus - thanks for the advice on the pineapple - I ate a whole one yesterday and it just made my lips bleed and made me feel horrible. Am using the clary sage but my DH says it smells like stale cigarette smoke and gets really irritable if I use it when he is in the house. Get I will just have to keep on waiting although I might try the wine!

Off to have my dinner now (pre-packed lasagne as we STILL don't have a kitchen). Have a nice night all

MrsFish · 03/09/2007 19:17

I only started with the pineapple, curries, sex etc etc once I had passed my due date. DS was 4 days late, the day before he came I had eaten two pineapples during the day, a curry for tea, I had been on a 2 mile walk to the local village and back AND had sex I personally think it is all pointless, baby will come when it is ready, so I won't be bothering with any of them this time round

ccpink · 03/09/2007 19:22

hi all,
HUGE CONGRATS to all new mummies. I have to admit at queue jumping - especially plp!
My il's have finally gone. Tomorrow is last day at school and the decorator is on track to finish nursery tomorrow. How much better can it get. Sorry to be so brief but am cream crackered.
Love to all
cc

yetihed · 03/09/2007 19:29

I am sure you're right, Mrs Fish- it probably all makes no difference... but it'll be fun trying! I think I'll start next week just for larks, see what happens!

ccpink- sounds like the world's your oyster! kind of...

EdieMcredie · 03/09/2007 19:48

Hi everyone!

Kelmcd-I was also at the hospital on sat night as baby wasn't moving much. All fine here too but she gave us a bit of a panic! Was not good timing either as poor DP was having a well deserved night out and was in a bit of a sorry state at the hospital! Once we were told that all was fine with the baby, he started to feel a bit dodgy and I thought he was going to be sick but thank god he didn't

Anyway she is now back to her very usual active self! Phew...

Congrats to all the mummies, so although I know I should be trying to appreciate these last few days. So hard when you feel like a whale, can't sleep and every tom dick and harry texts you saying ''any news?'' Bloody hell, I still have 10 days to go but everyone seems convinced I will have her early.

Sophus-I also have a bit of a bruiser, well, she was approx 7lb 8 at 36 weeks so im thinking she will be about 9lbs which I think is a good weight. Apparently she has a big head and a big tummy! Bless!

MmooMar-That nesting instinct is so wierd! I too am like a maniac round the house but also am obsessed with home improvement! Had a new carpet fitted in our bedroom today but want the stairs done now and getting DP to paint our room at weekend between finishing off garden! I just want to make everything perfect.

Welcome to the new babies!!

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 03/09/2007 20:54

HIWBB - sorry to hear the hip pain is so bad. It's so unfair that the consultant won't let you have the CS early. Things would be so different if it were men who got pregnant!

Welcome back SparklyNewThing, I remember you from the early days!

Edie - My LO seems to go through hours of very little movement and I get so worried then just when I'm ready to go to the hospital it gets incredibly active. Everyone has been texting and ringing me too. It's crazy, as if we wouldn't let them know when the big day has arrived!

Back to school tomorrow and I am sooooooooo looking forward to coming home and watching crap TV on my own for a few hours. (That's if the nesting instinct doesn't kick back in and I end up standing on the kitchen worktop cleaning the top of the cupboards...)

kinki · 03/09/2007 21:28

Hi everyone, its good to be back.

Firstly huuuugggee congratulations to Lou, acmum, filbrit, sparks, ecatlm, loopy, kerri and plp. I knew with so many of us we would all be delivering thick and fast, but this is so exciting. I hope all mummies and babies are doing well.

Secondly, thank you for all your messages about little Liam. I'm really touched. Thanks specially to Hopey, it was lovely to keep in touch and have messages passed on. You're a star and your messages kept my spirits up. Having a lifeline out of the hospital was a huge blessing. Dal, great idea of yours to get us all connected. I'd definately recommend it.

Liam is a week old now. We only got out of hospital last night. He's only tiny, but he's strong and he feeds well. He's regained his birth weight already and is no longer jaundice. So all is looking good. I'll have a go at putting some new photos on my profile tomorrow.

I'm so looking forward to reading all the posts of the last week, I shall do that soon. I've only been away for a week, but aw shucks, I feel like I've really missed you lot!

I'll sign off now, but I look forward to chatting more tomorrow.

MrsFish · 03/09/2007 21:44

Good to see you back Kinki

kyala · 03/09/2007 22:35

Hi everyone,
Sorry I've not been on for a couple of days, the weekend was a bit busy (busy doing nothing, but didn't find a moment to even read my Emails!)
Anywho, hope you're all doing well (sorry not had quite enough time to catch up on everything, will do it tomorrow morning)
I've finally got some sleep though (angel's singing in the background here!) we had a fellow freecycler drop off a nice little bed for me, to go in the nursery, and had my first night on that last night, it's so much easier to roll over now that I'm not sharing a bed with DH (sounds horrible but I'm appreciating the crap out of it )

Right, that'll do, just thoguht I'd pop my head in and say "Hi" while I'm online, more hello's tomorrow, promise!
Hope you all get a good night's sleep
