@Bumpingalong84 I’m the same as you! O- apparently we have a special blood type that most people can receive?
@Moonstone12 really? Why was it so painful?

Hi all! There must be something in the water...found out I am having a boy too! 💙💙
Got the Harmony results back last week (after hounding the clinic daily!)
😊

Moonstone12 · 26/11/2019 19:12

@CharlieB93 oh god it's not too bad. I shouldn't have said anything. I didn't even think! It's just a bit of a stinger but nothing too horrific. My midwife warned me first that it could hurt lol. I've had this jab a few times over the numerous pregnancies though so please don't worry x

november90 · 26/11/2019 20:33

We had a gorgeous early gender scan and this baby is all boy!!!! Before my 12 week scan I was convinced girl but after the scan I figured out the nub theory and just knew it was a he after then. It's so nice to have it confirmed! Another baby blue in our family! We're so excited ☺️

CharlieB93 · 26/11/2019 20:48

@Moonstone12 haha don’t worry. I’m just a massive wimp with needles 😂 I still have flashbacks of the dreaded TB jab!!

rosewater20 · 26/11/2019 21:26

I had the anti-d injection last week as I had a bleed and I am Rh-negative. The injecting hurt as it went in, but once it was over, my arm was fine. I will have to have it again in 12 weeks and then again once the baby is born.

Sunshine8888 · 27/11/2019 08:04

Congrats on your baby boy news @november90 💙 very exciting x

May2311 · 27/11/2019 08:34

Morning everyone!

I am getting so excited as feel the 2nd trimester is going so much quicker than the first which is good!! How's everyone else doing?

I'm still struggling badly with my back but seeing doctor this morning so hoping she will refer me for physio to help.

Has anyone done a list yet of what they need? This is my first and I love lists so feeling I should start preparing one but if anyone knows of any good ones that are available online please let me know😊 I don't want to forget anything that I will defo need!

Xxx

Bumpingalong84 · 27/11/2019 10:50

Ahh congratulations @november90 how very exciting 😊 I can’t wait to find out! Getting really impatient! Finding myself saying she all the time probably because we found out with DD and got use to saying she.

@CharlieB93 yes we are universal donors as O-ve, means we can only have our blood group but all others can have our blood type. It’s called flying squad blood as well, it’s the blood used in emergencies if you don’t know the patients blood group. So very good to be a blood donor when and if you can. We are very special 😂

I’m 15wks today and think I’ve felt a few movements the last day or two. So eager to feel something. The anxiety seems to be creeping in again.

CharlieB93 · 27/11/2019 11:28

@Bumpingalong84 I suppose its something interesting to put on the CV ey! I'm definitely going to make an effort to donate blood after having the sprog, I always assumed i'd have a rubbish blood type that no one would want!

Emmacb82 · 27/11/2019 13:12

Just had a call from midwife saying they can no longer listen to babies heartbeat until 18 weeks now! So I’ve got to change my 16 week appointment. Quite annoyed now as it will probably have to be after Christmas now and it feels like too long away. Anyone else had this?

CharlieB93 · 27/11/2019 13:38

@Emmacb82 thats strange! They listened to babys heartbeat yesterday and i'm only 15+3

Sunshine8888 · 27/11/2019 14:00

Different areas seem to have different views on when they listen to the heartbeat

I think my baby kicked me today! It felt like a little muscle spasm, it didn’t hurt but I was sat at my desk and felt something. Being my first baby I don’t know what to expect really. For those who know what movement feels like... do you think that could have been baby? The last couple of weeks I’ve felt the occasional flutter with my hand but nothing else. I’m 17+4 today.

Raindancer411 · 27/11/2019 16:14

The closest I can describe the feeling to, is like a little bubble popping from what I can remember, or like your tummy turning over...

Not felt anything so far and am 15 weeks

@Emmacb82 I had my 16 week appt today and they listened to the heartbeat and found it straight away! I have heard that they don’t always do it x

sazzlerazzle · 27/11/2019 18:54

@emmacb82 I was 17 weeks at my 16 weeks appointment and my midwife said they don’t look for the heartbeat this early on because it’s too hard to find... which is disappointing considering lots of people in other areas have the check! Would have loved that reassurance of knowing everything was ok.

Does anyone else have a ‘continuity’ midwife? I was put with this team, I see the same midwife each time and she comes to my house, rather than me going to the hospital or children’s centre and seeing someone different. It’s a new thing into area apparently and I wonder if that’s why I’m having such different experience to the ladies here and also my friends and family.

Nutsty25 · 27/11/2019 19:11

@May2311 this is my first too and I could really do with a list of what we will really need! I think I am going to wait until after Christmas and my 20weeks scan which is on Christmas Eve and then properly start researching and buying!

Clairesoph · 27/11/2019 19:24

Im interested to see if they still do heartbeat in my area, I had the same midwife with my previous pregnancy and she did heartbeat at every midwife appt from 16 weeks. I really hope they do, its just another nice little reassurance 🤞🏻

May2311 · 27/11/2019 19:53

@Nutsty25 ahhh Christmas Eve scan how lovely!! My 20 week scan is 27th dec- feel like I'm wishing Christmas away🙊

I have my 16 week appt on Friday and have my fingers crossed they listen for the heartbeat- as most of you have said it just gives you that bit of reassurance.

Emmacb82 · 27/11/2019 21:55

Yes last time round they listened in at 16 weeks and had booked me in for the same this time. It’s almost like they’ve just been given new guidelines now in our area and have changed it to 18 weeks. I totally understand why, but was worried that I would have to wait till after Christmas as that’s where 18 weeks falls. But she’s booked me in for Xmas eve so be a nice Xmas present x

Lady7978 · 28/11/2019 13:53

Is anyone else really struggling? This is my first. I'm 13+6 and still struggling massively with nausea, waist/back aches, headaches and congestion. Had Tuesday and Wednesday off sick as I could barely get out of bed with headaches, not sleeping well and dry heaving. Not eating properly as almost everything smells and tastes horrible. Brushing my teeth is now a task I dread. Still have over 6 months to go and I'm wondering if this will ever go away and as much as I'm looking forward to the baby, I'm sick of it all and want to be normal again. I feel so tired and drained. Having to be in work every day after not sleeping well, smelling cleaning products used in the office and constantly dry heaving at my desk is sickening. :-( I'm tired!

May2311 · 28/11/2019 15:20

@Lady7978 I'm struggling with my back a lot which seems bizarre considering I'm only 16 weeks. I saw the doctor yesterday who has referred me for physio. I am not feeling sick that much now however I have very little appetite so do have to remind myself to eat! Perhaps you should see your GP about giving you something to help with the sickness? If your not well enough you may need to be signed off from work? Another alternative is have you thought about putting some leave in at work? My job is really stressful/fast paced so I have to be on the ball constantly - I put some leave in the back end of last week and all of this week purely to rest without having to worry about getting into work and dealing with it whilst struggling with my back. I feel like it's really helped as I'm not worrying about work. Hope you start feeling better soon 😘😘
