@@rosewater20 The Jordan colour is lovely. I think we will go with Henry because DP likes the colour and I want him to feel involved!

rosewater20 · 28/12/2019 05:27

Ah! I wrote the comment to myself! I blame baby brain! I meant to @Sunshine8888

woollycat · 28/12/2019 08:43

Girls I am getting anxiety just reading all these posts about what needs buying - I have no idea what we need and the brands / names you use mean nothing to me. Am I completely hopeless? Where do I start? 😱

Herewego2020 · 28/12/2019 09:17

@woollycat do not panic. This is my 3rd, I have 2 boys who are 10 and 13.. this is a girl so this is a new experience as it is. We are not prepared lol. We have brought clothes so far and that is it. OH is the most laid back person I know besides our 13 year old lol. He keeps saying "soon" when I say we need to start lol. My best recommendation is nappies I brought enough nappies that lasted me months that I didny need to buy any lol. Everytime I saw an offer in shop i bought. I've made a baby shopping list on amazon which is great plus you get discount off order for making list 😁. We are moving and of Jan so really dont want to buy more stuff to just move 😫. Also I've always been a NEXT baby fan with mine and still am. My boys now want all nike etc but I still sneak the occasional Next item in lol.

Sunshine8888 · 28/12/2019 11:18

@rosewater20 be careful with Henry, it was a limited edition colour so doesn’t come with the carrycot, you have to pay additionally for it. Funnily enough they stopped getting many orders for it once they introduced that so it’s being discontinued for next year. Just make sure if you do get it that you aren’t paying extra x

mrsf1204 · 28/12/2019 13:18

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a lovely few days over Christmas! Just joining in as it's been a while since I posted... I was having a bit of an anxious time as I hadn't really felt anything bar a few flutters that I couldn't be certain of, but last night I felt an almighty kick as I was chilling in bed! It was so clear and no mistaking it. Incredible.

Our 20 week scan is on the 6th Jan (even though I'll be 21 weeks - they couldn't fit me in next week) but we aren't finding out the sex. Seeing all of you know is making me so tempted though! Hope we can stick to our plan and not find out!

Caspianberg · 28/12/2019 19:44

Ah I haven't bought anything productive yet, just a pair of socks and some vests...

Dhs parents have kindly offered to buy the pram though, so will prob order end of January when they come to visit

sazzlerazzle · 28/12/2019 21:53

Ooh thanks for the tip on the Snuzpod, been eyeing these up since we found out we were having a baby and just ordered one with the 20% off! Was considering buying one secondhand but they’re still quite expensive so it makes sense to buy new.

sazzlerazzle · 28/12/2019 22:33

@mrsf1204 sorry you’ve been feeling anxious but so has you got the reassurance you needed! We didn’t find out at our 20 week scan either, so you won’t be the only one :)

facevalue · 28/12/2019 23:39

i wonder how the ladies carrying twins are doing? i thought there were 3?!

woollycat · 29/12/2019 09:05

Girls I am worried all of a sudden about lack of baby movements. I am 19+3 and was feeling her move for the last 3-4 evenings quite consistently, but last evening she didn't move. I rang the maternity triage line at my hospital who were utterly rude and useless - they said I can only call them after 20w (which is in 5 days!) and wouldn't give me any advice as to whether I should worry or not. They just said - if you are worried go to A&E, we can't help you until 20w 🙁

Is it too early to feel consistent movements? I wish they would tell me that...

mrsf1204 · 29/12/2019 09:10

@woollycat I was told that you don't have a regular movement pattern until much later yet so don't worry! I didn't feel any kicks yesterday just the occasional flutter compared to the big kick the night before. I was really really worried at the start of the week as everyone seemed to be feeling things and I wasn't but the midwife reminded me that everyone is different. Occasional movements are totally normal at this point. Xxx

Reds2007 · 29/12/2019 09:24

@woollycat

I found this article really helpful www.madeformums.com/pregnancy/how-often-should-i-feel-my-baby-move-week-by-week/ xx

sazzlerazzle · 29/12/2019 09:38

Hi @woollycat I saw my midwife at 21 weeks and she told me not to expect regular movements until around 24 weeks and that it was normal not to feel something everyday. Baby is still very small at 20 weeks and may have just move into a position where the kicks cannot be felt. I hope this helps xx

facevalue · 29/12/2019 09:44

@woollycat oh no i'm so sorry they were so unkind. i posted probably a week or so ago now about EXACTLY this happening to me. i had two weeks of feeling strong movements daily then 2 days i couldn't feel anything. I rang the antenatal unit which was for the before 20 weeks and just said exactly what you r saying- they said it's not unusual to not feel baby daily but if worried to go into maternity A&E and wait for someone to see you and listen to baby but basically in the UK they won't rush you for a C section to " save" any baby before 24 weeks 😢 because they don't survive anyway ( sounds awful). so basically if you having your 20 week scan anyway soon you are advised to wait for that. HOWEVER, i was not able to relax by day 3 of no kicks or get it out of my head so i just went into my local hospital with my maternity book and found a " friendly" looking midwife and explained i'm only just under 19 weeks and i'm anxious so she said ahhh don't worry and literally put me on a trolly and popped the little hand held doppler probe thing on my belly and let me hear the baby heart beat and she counted it for me and wrote it in the notes and i was gone within 10 minutes!

having said that she was very honest and explained they usually don't want you rushing into a&e unless you are bleeding or in severe pain because they don't have anything to offer as an urgent saving grace even if no heartbeat before 24 weeks...

so the day after i was checked baby started kicking again😍😍😍

facevalue · 29/12/2019 09:50

@Reds2007 that's an excellent link - thank you x

Caspianberg · 29/12/2019 11:11

@woollycat - I am 22+ weeks now. I do feel movements now daily, but only the last 10 days or so, and there is no pattern to it at all ie one day every hour, another day once per day.

Have another scan tomorrow so excited to get another video and see what's going on. Luckily they do scans every 4 ish weeks here.

woollycat · 29/12/2019 12:43

Thanks all for reassurances! I wish the on call midwife had said that instead, I am still fuming but I feel much better now ❤️

Raindancer411 · 29/12/2019 14:31

I am 19+5 with second and haven't really noticed anything myself yet but still got time before 24 weeks for that

May2311 · 29/12/2019 16:00

Afternoon everyone 😊

I have a quick question I am wondering if any of you know the answer to as I can't find an answer online( conflicting information) and I haven't spoken to my midwife about this. The last week or 2 my appetite has really picked up! Trying to find out if there is a set amount of calories I should be sticking around at this stage in pregnancy? I know I am supposed to be sticking to a healthy balanced diet( totally haven't been over Christmas) but can't find anywhere on nhs website that says about calories and whether at this stage in pregnancy I should be eating more to help baby as well. Some websites Says "eating for two" is a myth and we shouldn't be increasing the amount we eat whereas others say we do! Xxx

mintbear · 29/12/2019 16:03

Not very scientific but I think it's the equivalent to a banana extra a day in your third trimester only.. so not much.
I've been having days where I feel ravenous and nothing satisfies the hunger

May2311 · 29/12/2019 16:19

@mintbear that's like me! I've been super thirsty as well particularly on a evening. I've figured out though that usually i drink sparkling water but this hasn't been clenching my thirst at all and I feel like it makes me evening thirstier! so I've started just having still and that's help with the thirst. Just the Hunger to figure out now 😂

sao81 · 29/12/2019 17:20

@May2311 I've read that its an extra 200 calories during 3rd trimester only, heres the website xx

mummyje20 · 29/12/2019 17:24

Hi all 😁
New here but am 19w4d today.
Congrats to everyone!
I have my 20 week scan on 10th jan- very excited 😊
Im feeling very slight movements but they're definitely getting more regular. Only now am I starting to not doubt the whole pregnancy- have found it very anxiety inducing so far. Also terrified of labour!!
Also am still sick and having awful headaches- anyone else?

sazzlerazzle · 29/12/2019 18:37

@sao81 oh dear, I’m definitely eating more than an extra 200 I reckon! I’m just hungry all the time!! My weight gain has been slow and steady though.

@mummyje20 welcome to the group! Will you be finding out the sex of the baby at your scan? I bet it feels ages away but 10th Jan is only round the corner :) A lot of ladies here suffering with headaches unfortunately.

It’s funny you mention labour - I’ve really started thinking about it a lot for the first time this week and.... I’m terrified 😬
