I never got told anythjng about my placenta today. She showed me it, but didnt say where it was or what it meant. Infact the woman didnt speak much at all. So i have no idea what means what x

sao81 · 25/12/2019 05:46

@Niki93 my scan was supposed to be gender confirmation only, but as I've had episodes of bleeding I asked her to check the positioning of my placenta, as I had an idea this could be causing the bleeding due to a close friend having similar issues in her pregnancy. Was your scan NHS or private? It will.sometimes say on your notes the positioning!

Niki93 · 25/12/2019 06:23

@sao81 ah ok. My scan yesterday was NHS so i’ll check the notes and see if it says anything. Hope the pregnancy goes smooth for you here forward :) and enjoy today/the reveal! Xxx

sao81 · 25/12/2019 07:49

@Niki93 you too!xx

And merry christmas everyone! Hope you all have a magical day

Sunshine8888 · 25/12/2019 10:42

My placenta is at the front but it’s high up and I’ve been feeling proper kicks for the last week or so that my husband can feel as well.

Merry Christmas all x

sao81 · 25/12/2019 14:54

@niki93 congratulations! Hope you had a lovely day xxx

helpasisterout · 26/12/2019 22:13

It's lovely seeing a few people doing gender reveals and things over Christmas how exciting for everyone!

Hope everyone has had a nice couple of days!

I'm struggling quite a bit now with pain in lower back, more specifically right hand side if I've been sitting a while or if I have done more physical activity than usual that day. It's really painful and catches me when I bend down or try and get comfy in bed. Would this be a sciatica problem or just a phase of growth? I'm 19 weeks-ish.

Don't see midwife for another 3 weeks with my anomaly scan before then. Should i contact midwife to discuss or is this just part of the package?

Sunshine8888 · 26/12/2019 23:32

Also suffering back pain @helpasisterout, I think it’s just part of the package unfortunately!

Just purchased some baby clothes and also a snuzpod, bundle and snuzpouch as they have 20% off all orders in the Boxing Day sales. First baby purchases ☺️

mintbear · 27/12/2019 07:20

@Sunshine8888 where did you get your snuzpod from? We've been looking at these, I like that you can lift off the top.

Congrats to all the sex reveals! How lovely to do that on Christmas Day.

@helpasisterout it might just be a bad back or perhaps the start of spd. I've been diagnosed with it, although I do have long standing back issues. Mines very painful on either side of my hips.

Tips so far are: put a folded duvet under your sheet in bed to soften, do not stand on one leg (think getting dressed/yoga) short walks (little and often), if it hurts - stop what you're doing as it'll make it worse.

You could call your midwife and talk to them, they might be able to refer you to a physio as the process (depending on where you live) can take some time.

May2311 · 27/12/2019 07:36

Hope you all had a lovely few days over Christmas & congratulations to those who have found out what they are having!

I have been referred to physio for SPD & I go back next week to collect a pelvic brace for support. I've also been referred to a group exercise class specific to support spd.

I've started to look at prams- how an earth are we meant to choose one!!! There is so many out there I have no idea where to start!!! Any recommendations? Xxxx

helpasisterout · 27/12/2019 08:04

@sunshine @mintbear @May2311 thanks guys tried the pillow between knees again last night and it helps a little so will get in touch with midwife via text see if there is anything she can recommend too!!

I'm starting some shopping now too. Got a 2nd hand in immaculate condition joolz geo 2 pram with a car seat (never used) and a bunch of accessories for just over £300 and when totalling up the costs brand new it would have been over £1300! We chose this one because it looks sturdy for off road walks, though our other choice would have been an icandy peach all terrain. Ours is quite bulky but fortunately we have plenty space to keep it in.

Anyone know what clothing and how many you would need for a baby born in May? Sleep suit, vest, baby grow? Ahhh what a minefield!

mintbear · 27/12/2019 08:25

@May2311
We've also gone second hand. I managed to get a good condition silver cross pioneer for £160, I'll buy a new mattress for the bassinet. Personally I don't think it'll get too much use past 6 months or so. I find all the travel systems very heavy so I'll struggle to lift in/out of the car with my back.

I'm keeping the pram mainly for walks around home, I'm lucky that I live close to everything I could need. Then I plan on buying a new baby zen yo-yo, this is far more compact and easy for lifting in/out of the car. Its not suitable for country/muddy wood walks but it'll be perfect for the city.

Clairesoph · 27/12/2019 08:27

@helpasisterout clothing is a minefield for me right now, sounds silly but the last kid I had was born in the heatwave of 2018. It was 30plus degrees in the hospital and they still insisted he wore a vest, sleep suit, hat and cardigan 😅😩 as soon as we got home he lived in a nappy and didn't wear clothes TIL about October 🤣 he also runs naturally hot like his dad and was such a sweaty baby until I figured it all out.

Luckily I kept all my July bibs stuff so I'm kitted out for another hot summer but I'm gonna top up with a few light cardigans and bits just in case it's not that warm yet.

I'm actually fuming with myself, all these sales and we don't find out til the 30th- I just wanna know nowwwwww!!!!

Clairesoph · 27/12/2019 08:30

@May2311 we went second hand too, such a bargain!!! We got an Uppababy Vista we liked the massive basket and the option to turn it into a double because we knew we wanted two close together. It also has chunky sturdy wheels which have been great for the dog walks cos I could never get on with a sling/carrier. A thing that we also looked out for was that it didn't have wheels that could puncture because I imagine that would be a faff 💁🏻

sao81 · 27/12/2019 08:57

@helpasisterout if its really bothering you I'd ask for some advice, may be able to give you some exercises to do to ease it, or pain relief if its really bad!

@May2311 was it your midwife who referred you? Mine said theres nothing they can do for me and to get on with it which makes me feel abit crappy tbh

We got quite alot from.mothercare. got a pram and carseat yesterday for £160, a nappy bin for £15, and some little rompers that will be good for summer. We got a Cozee bedside crib last week from there for £110.

In terms of clothes id say for basics 5 babygrows 5 vests, lots of bibs, some mittens, socks, hats. My thought process is to get some short sleeved rompers that are light for summer. I'm lucky as my cousin had a baby boy last May and kept all her stuff for me just incase, so when I see her I'll see what she had and let you all know!

Hi

New to this thread. I’m due the 24th May with my 3rd but it’s been 11 years since my last! I’m 41 so a geriatric mother 😳. 18+5 today.

Nice to join the thread.

Jamsponge71 · 27/12/2019 09:06

Oh, and I’m having a boy. 😊

mintbear · 27/12/2019 09:10

@sao81
I got an early referral to the physio at the hospital from my first midwife appointment. They assessed me and then I was given some hydrotherapy sessions - however these were limited and one of the physios there recommend I see a private chiropractor who specialises in pregnancy. I'm fortunate as this is being covered on my private healthcare.

The chiropractor is very good, she has told me to refer back to the physio at the hospital as well as seeing her so that I'm 'in the system' as she thinks it might get worse.

I know nhs support on this is often in the form of some leaflets and a group session but each trust is different. Spd can, in some cases end in using crutches or not being able to move at all, so it really does run the spectrum.

Mewstar · 27/12/2019 09:28

Hello everyone! I am due 31st May 2020. :)

17 + 5 weeks today, starting to feel baby poking more frequently despite having anterior placenta so it’s all very exciting!

May2311 · 27/12/2019 09:34

Thanks everyone I will have a look at those you have suggested as a starting point!

@sao81 it was my GP that referred me. I've been signed off work due to the nature of my job and I am determined not to be off until baby arrives so hoping once I get the band and with the exercises I'll be able to get back to work in January. The midwife was honest and said she can't do any referrals when I was first having problems and said to see my GP.

I'm just having a lazy morning- have my 20 week scan at lunchtime. Little nervous hoping all is well!

Sunshine8888 · 27/12/2019 10:07

@mintbear, from the official snuz website! The snuzpouch looks so cute as well ☺️ I figured that if you want the latest model you would still pay a fair whack secondhand then I would have bought a new mattress anyway so actually wasn’t paying much more to buy it new with the 20% off.

@Clairesoph, I’m keen on the Uppababy vista but struggling to find a 2018 model secondhand. The older models are not quite the same. I also like the cybex cloud z car seat as it has a lie flat option on the pram. All the stuff I like does not seem to have made its way into the sales 🙄

Has anyone tried the cybex e Priam? It has battery power to help with hills!! I live in Bath which is full of them but can’t quite get my head around it!

@May2311, exciting about your scan today! Send a pic!

sao81 · 27/12/2019 10:16

@mintbear I know I can get physio through work so this might be something I can access so thank you!
@May2311 yeahh my midwife said it probably wont improve she just said if I'm really struggling they'll induce me at 37 weeks, I'm really struggling already I feel like my hip keeps clicking randomly and I lose balance. Back at the GP today so will ask them again about a referral

Has anyone else had enough of their christmas tree or just me? I feel like I need all of these toys gone upstairs so I can clean and get back to normal 😭

sao81 · 27/12/2019 10:17

@May2311 and good luck with your scan today!
