@sao81 seeing the flannels to ease sting after stitches just brought back memories 😅 definitely a good shout.

sao81 · 22/12/2019 19:23

@Herewego2020 we are doing the same! Scan on Tuesday and my sister is getting us some balloons sorted for xmas morning, it's so exciting isnt it! And I'm more scared for the sting than actual labour 🙈 not looking forward to crying on the toilet with that jug again 😭

Herewego2020 · 22/12/2019 19:32

@sao81 yes so exciting. I'm expecting blue balloons lol. Oh I'm dreading that sting now 🙊 it's going to haunt me lol.

sao81 · 22/12/2019 19:57

@herewego2020 see I think I'll be pink again but everyone else things boy, will have to update on here om the big day! Have you seen that spritz for bits? I'm thinking of trying that. I had a 2nd degree tear but they had a surgeon stitch me bc they thought it was 3rd degree, I was in pain for nearly a month with it 🙈 but that spray is meant to work wonders

sazzlerazzle · 22/12/2019 20:16

@Bigbear123 please don’t use an app to listen to the heartbeat :( you need proper equipment to do this and even then you need to know what you’re looking out for. I know it’s hard because some days you feel like nothing is happening and it can make you anxious but go with your instincts instead and speak to your midwife about any concerns you have xx

Herewego2020 · 22/12/2019 20:17

@sao81 no I haven't I will have to look that up, thank you 😁. I remember asking for gas and air when they said about stitches as I was terrified of needles.. even after just giving birth lol. I'm not so bad now but rather not tear all the same.
Yes I shall definitely update, and you will have to too 😊.

Got my 20 week scan tomorrow! Can't wait to see the little baby again :) ❤️ I've been feeling quite a lot of movements in the evening and it just sends me to cloud 9 ☺️ I just hope everything is ok, I'm quite nervous.

@Sunshine8888 essentials from my first baby include a baby sleep bag as he would never keep his blanket on and the movement of it would always wake him up!, a rocker chair/swing. You don't need to spend 💰💰💰, we had a couple and the fisher price swing chair was the best! An electric breast pump, the hand held pump was a lot of work and didn't produce much! If you are breast feeding stock up on the nipple cream from day one. As our first son was exclusively breast feed we didn't use bibs as they weren't needed. I bought so many in advanced that never got used once. Going back to breast pump, We just had the tommy tippee one.. again you don't need to beaks the bank!
We also had a disco light and a sensory foil sheet which were absolute life savers!!!!! I don't know what I would've done without them!
I didn't have a jersey sling and this time I will be 100% getting one! I always completely regretted not having one.

My biggest waste of money was a nappy bin. I bought an expensive Tommy tippee one and threw it out after a couple of weeks. I just found that I would always throw the nappies out anyways as I didn't like the idea of them sitting in my bathroom for a few days! Each to their own but it was such a waste of money for me!

Helensss · 22/12/2019 22:20

@november90 my scan is tomorrow too! Xx

facevalue · 23/12/2019 00:57

anyone else literally starving at midnight! i just ate a greek salad and chopped mangos but still hungry 🙄 had pizza at 6pm for dinner so really no excuse ! i dropped my hubby and daughter at the in laws and came back 🤪 working until xmas eve i should enjoy the peace 🤤

baby is kicking loads

i love the scan pics and updates

good luck tomorrow @Helensss @november90 are you girls finding out the sex?

sao81 · 23/12/2019 06:38

@Herewego2020 I'm surprised I didnt overdose on the gas and air it took that long to do them 😬 praying its nice and clean down there next time 😂

@november90 aah I'm surprised with the nappy bin I've heard a few saying they used them lots will have to have another think! We would always throw them straight to the bin outside but I was always worried of our bin smelling with living in flats and other people sharing the bin area, might feel abit more relaxed now we are in a house
Also good luck for your scan today and @Helensss too! Will you be finding out gender?

@facevalue I've been the opposite 🙈 had a chinese and couldnt stomach it, I'm hoping its not another bout of sickness as I thought it had finally gone away and stopped me medication 😥 I have had lots of movement though!

Sunshine8888 · 23/12/2019 08:38

Thank you so much for the advice everyone, really helpful 😊

Hope pre Christmas scans go well 🤗

Sunshine8888 · 23/12/2019 08:39

And @facevalue yes my appetite is something else!! I’ve never had a sweet tooth but since being pregnant chocolate is part of the daily diet! 🙈

Raindancer411 · 23/12/2019 09:04

We had a nappy bin and sold it when didn't think we were having another little one. It was great and kept the smell in!! We are found to get another this time

CharlieB93 · 23/12/2019 09:54

Good luck to those having scans!

Does anyone know when movements get more regular?

I felt the baby move last week then for a couple of days after that, I haven't felt anything since yesterday morning but I know its early days to be thinking i'll be feeling it all the time?

sao81 · 23/12/2019 10:29

@charlieB93 this is taken off my local maternity hospitals info page so hope it helps!

Most women start to feel their baby move from around 18-22 weeks. Everyone is different, if it is your first pregnancy you may feel them a little later, if its not your first pregnancy you may feel them earlier. If you haven't felt your baby move by 24 weeks gestation, please contact your midwife.

CharlieB93 · 23/12/2019 10:51

@sao81 thank you, first i was worrying that there was no movement at all now i'm worrying because there's not enough!

Definitely a sign of stresses to come.. Grin

chellefish · 23/12/2019 11:36

Question for you all. How far in advance did you get notified of your 20 week scan. I'm 17+3 and still waiting to know when the scan is. Doesn't help my 16 week midwife appointment will be 19 +4 due to the Christmas holidays.

I don't know whether to phone up and chase them or wait it out.

sao81 · 23/12/2019 11:57

@CharlieB93 it can all depend on your placenta too! Mine was at the front last time and I really struggled feeling movements, but this time round I'm feeling alot more alot sooner. The kicks count website is really good for info on movements xx

sao81 · 23/12/2019 11:59

@chellefish I got mine after chasing it up with the midwife, for some reason the hospital send the scans out really late where I am, so she booked me in somewhere else for my antenatal appointments so it can all be done more in advance. Id deffo give the appointment line a ring and ask about the scan

May2311 · 23/12/2019 12:00

@chellefish mine was booked at my 12 week scan but I think it depends where abouts you live with how it is done.

Good luck those with scans today- looking forward to seeing the picsSmile xxx

sazzlerazzle · 23/12/2019 12:38

@chellefish I got my 20 week scan date when I went for my 12 week scan. However, I only got about 5 days notice for my 12 week scan and that’s only because I chased it and I never got my screening results, I had to chase those too. Communication has been pretty dire! Best off chasing it to put your mind at ease :)

Good luck @Helensss and @november90 with your scans today!

Sunshine8888 · 23/12/2019 12:50

@chellefish I didn’t get my 20 week scan date until I was about 18 weeks, they have about 10 days notice

Raindancer411 · 23/12/2019 14:04

I am 20 weeks this week and still not really felt anything. This is my second and I cannot remember when I first felt my first born move...

november90 · 23/12/2019 14:05

I had my 20 week scan today but unfortunately the baby wasn't in a great position so I have to go back.
I went to day assessment on Saturday as I was experiencing pins and needles suddenly and badly in my hands and feet and they told me I should go back after my scan today. I also feel I have a UTI or thrush. The midwife I saw was SO rude! She kept asking me why I was there and what she was ment to do... I ended up crying and crying through my scan :( I've been so worried about my hands and my scan and now I feel embarrassed and have no answers! She refused to help me and told me to go try gp.
Also during my scan the lady spent a lot of time looking at the heart and said she saw 4 chambers but went quiet. She then put on my report the heart needs examination so to put it bluntly..... I feel like rubbish :(

Caspianberg · 23/12/2019 14:37

@november90 - I would report the behaviour tbh. They shouldn't talk or treat someone like that, and if the hospital isn't reported they will continue to others.
Do you have the option of booking another 20 week scan elsewhere?
