Does anyone know if Halls soothers are ok to use in pregnancy? Found a pack in my bag and would really help this razor blade throat 🤒🤒

Purple29 · 09/12/2019 13:32

@helpasisterout the pharmacist told me they were fine yesterday, they're just menthol and flavour so nothing that is harmful for baby.

Sorry everyone is feeling so bad! I’ve been suffering with a blocked nose for what feels like a lifetime!

I’m having a couple of issues with work, I’ve been informed this morning that during my 6 months maternity leave they aren’t planning on getting maternity cover. I’ve been told ‘oh you can catch up when you get back’ it’s physically impossible, not to say added stress and apprehension about going back to work!! (My work can’t really be left as it’s done on monthly cycles) I have said this but just been told the company is not willing to ‘fork out’ for a temp. Is anyone else having problems with work? I feel very sad today ☹️

helpasisterout · 09/12/2019 15:17

@purple29 thanks very much I thought as much! It's crap how many of us are sick with colds when in theory should be feeling a bit better now!

fluffyunicorns86 · 09/12/2019 17:54

@sao81 I will definitely discuss it. I know my placenta is posteria from my gender scan and also at scan baby was breech aswell. I know is alot of room for him to move about. First baby I ever been told has been breech.

Morning all, I had my 20 week scan today and very happy to report it went well. Organ and limb checks all good and happy with size! Lady bits on display so definitely a girl ☺️ Little baby was asleep so had to wake her up to have a good look at her face. Here she is sucking her thumb! Also got a lovely photo of her face and tiny foot!

Also as I thought I do have an anterior placenta but it’s high up so no concerns there.

So happy and feel I can finally start buying baby things!

Happy Tuesday x

@Sunshine8888 how lovely, and so nice to get to that milestone before the holidays. Enjoy!
Mine is in 4 weeks 😴

Caspianberg · 10/12/2019 13:43

@Sunshine8888 - lovely scan. Ours gave us a few 3d pictures, where he looks likes a cross between an alien and a monkey!

May2311 · 10/12/2019 13:43

@Sunshine8888 beautiful scan and wonderful news that all is well! Xx

Reds2007 · 10/12/2019 13:56

facevalue · 10/12/2019 15:16

@Sunshine8888 awwww so cute xxx

Raindancer411 · 10/12/2019 16:03

Had my second midwife appointment at 17 weeks today and all ok. She tried to listen to the heart beat but it wasn't having it and went right down low. We got a few seconds of it and then it was kicking the mic sensor 😂

Sunshine8888 · 10/12/2019 17:57

Thank you everyone! I just can’t believe I’m half way through - it’s so exciting! Looking forward to seeing all your scan pics over the next few weeks

Sunshine8888 · 10/12/2019 18:29

Has anyone been offered the whooping cough vaccine? I haven’t been told about it but the nhs site suggests we should have it from 16 weeks pregnant

Moonstone12 · 10/12/2019 18:43

@Sunshine8888 I've got mine booked for after my 20 week scan. I literally go from my scan to get jabbed in the next room 🤪I guess every trust is different so not sure how yours works. Maybe worth asking GP surgery or midwife? X

mintbear · 10/12/2019 18:58

@Sunshine8888 I had mine at the end of November, I received a letter through the post telling me to call the gp surgery and get booked in so I'd get onto your midwife. Congrats on the 20 week scan, lovely to see the pic, mine is on Tuesday.

My sickness is still around, I'm having to take a new anti sickness tablet so let's see how this one goes.

Feeling plenty of kicks, I did go about 24hrs where I couldn't feel anything but I think that's normal this early.

I've also been diagnosed with gestational diabetes which has been challenging.

Sorry for all those suffering with colds, that sucks, I asked my midwife about strepsils a few months ago and she said they were fine to take.

May2311 · 10/12/2019 19:01

@Sunshine8888 I rang my GP and have it booked in on Friday- Your right it's from 16 weeks. Xx

Reds2007 · 10/12/2019 19:16

@Sunshine8888 I have mine and flu jab booked in for when I’m 17 weeks, my midwife told me to get it booked in after my 16 weeks Xx

Sunshine8888 · 10/12/2019 22:23

My midwife didn’t mention it at my 16 week appointment and when I asked the sonographer today she had no idea at all. I had my flu jab at my 12 week scan so was hoping they’d do the whooping cough vaccine at the 20 week scan but no. I had better phone and find out!

facevalue · 10/12/2019 22:29

@sunshine8888 yes my midwife told me to have it at my 16w appointment and i had the injection this morning. it's a very important one to protect the baby for the first 3-4 months after birth. there has been outbreaks of whooping cough in newborns so it's so that the baby will get your antibodies until they develop their own .. it was ok .. no pain in my arm or anything

i did mention it in previous posts x

Sunshine8888 · 10/12/2019 22:36

@facevalue thanks, sorry if you did mention it, I get a bit lost with all the posts! I’m quite surprised no one has mentioned it to me if it’s that important 😬

Bulldogmum21 · 10/12/2019 22:36

Hi I'm 17 +5 and am struggling to sleep. I can't drift off until after my 3.30am toilet trip then can only sleep until 8am. Any advice. Ive tried early night baths, prwgnancy pillow, hot drinks, no screen time or tv an hour before bed. Think im struggling as i used to sleep on my front and am finding it really hard to sleep on my side now. Any help? Thanks

facevalue · 10/12/2019 22:45

@bulldogmum21 🙄 sex or if single then an orgasm ... the best thing to get you to sleep in my book. everyone is different. just check what is it that stops u sleeping? pain? thoughts? hunger? etc.
i started drinking camomile tea. but that's coz sex isn't readily available cos my husband isn't as interested when tired😂. his excuse lol
