Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

i'll be helping you keep tenalady in business in my old age!

peanutbutter · 21/08/2007 08:13

claraq what a horrible experience. No doubt you weren't the only one to walk away feeling angry and bad and helpless. Sounds like everyone was very dignified except the deranged white woman - let's give her the benefit of the doubt; perhaps she's having an awful time of it right now....

Unfortunately it's just the nature of life for us all to encounter twats every now and again

insywinsyspider · 21/08/2007 09:03

morning - feel rubbish today, back is killing me, guess lifting a toddler around is taking its toll, also a little worried about movements, felt baby kick bout 16 weeks but its been quite this morning - I can't remember from last time but when should I be seriously mointoring movements?

hope you're days are starting better x

buzzybee · 21/08/2007 09:06

Hate to say this but I hired a double electric pump last time but ended up reverting back to the trusty Avent manual pump as it was much more efficient. True that it requires a bit more effort but I felt like a cow on the other machine and honestly took longer to get the same quantity. I expressed for 6 weeks as I couldn't get DD to latch (inverted nipple issues...) and will probably try and do the same again this time - although may not do for as long as its exhausting.

Been having horrible sleep and really weird dreams last few nights. One involved attending my ex-husband's wedding to a woman he'd knocked up while living with someone else again!! Why I'd e dreaming about him when we've been divorced for over 2 years I have no idea but it was very disconcerting.

insywincy - I believe they recommend monitoring from about 24 weeks and only to get worried if you don't feel more than 10 kicks during any 24 hour period. Remember that most babies sleep 20 hours out of 24 and also move around a lot so one day might be at the front where you feel loads and the next day way down low. When I had my scan done 3 weeks ago the sonographer struggled to get good shots as she was moving around loads - but I couldn't feel a thing as she'd gone way down deep to try and escape the sonographic waves. HTH

thanks buzzybee, ds woke in night so had a very rare cup of coffee this morning to get me through the day, its woken baby up now - think I have another caffine sensitive baby, one to remember when feeding this time, only 23 wks so sure everythings fine, think I worry when I'm actually concentrating on trying to feel something

wow! at expressing for 6 weeks, not suprised you felt like a cow, I felt like that doing the odd expressed bottle with the Avent. I never used an electric but aren't they quite noisey? I used to express in front of telly, noisey pump would have been annoying and I found the Avent breast cups useful as your other boob leaks when you are feeding and I could get 1-2 oz from each feed (also great for engorement)

MotherofZ · 21/08/2007 09:45

well done for 6 weeks of expressing!
Has anyone tried the Madela Mini one? Is it good?

buzzybee · 21/08/2007 10:24

Is that a battery operated pump? I was advised that the best electric are mains powered which is what I hired - so can't say what the madela one would be like.
Sadly I think the reality is that pumping is a chore that is impossible to make enjoyable.

With the double electric I felt like I had to lock myself away in our bedroom, with the Avent I just felt better about pumping away in front of the TV etc like you say Incywinsy.

I have a medual pump - not sure which one. Tis quite old now - 5 years. I love it. It was the only one I could express wih. Mind you I did feel like a cow and it was quite noisy. And much to dh's amusment we ended up with a freezer full of expressed milk!

claraq · 21/08/2007 10:44

Oh no am now very confused about which expresser to get. If any! I didn't express too much last time and will have even less time this time to do so..... It sounds like different pumps suit different people.

Inseywinsey - I also experienced this panic about not feeling the baby move last night. It had gone from being really active a few days ago to nearly nothing yesterday. I do agree that they move deeper down as the movements I am now feeling are much lower and less noticable. Have an antenatal appointment this afternoon so will hopefully get all the reassurance I need when I hear the heart beat....

Can everyone just mention pelvic floors every time they come on here as it is the only thing that reminds me to do them!!!

MotherofZ · 21/08/2007 10:50

PELVIC FLOOR LADIES!!
lol - yes I only do it when it is mentioned.

Inclined towards mini Medula one as it has had a lot of good reviews and it is battery and mains operated.

Been feeling a lot of movements everyday for the past few weeks. I drink a lot of water from the cooler, which gets the baby going.

Beanstermummy · 21/08/2007 10:54

PELVIC FLOOR - PELVIC FLOOR - PELVIC FLOOR!! That okay Claraq/

As for movement - as you know yesterday wondering whether to call MW as no kicks for most of the day - once I gto home I lay down a dbit and felt some wriggles then come evening and bed time - massive kicks all bloody night - bless Just need to remember they sleep loads and so there will be times it's not moving or not obvious.

Still filing here at worka nd trying to get some production figures to add up - 3 sifferent reports - all different numbers - wonderful! Need chocolate already.

re Double buggy's - have you guys looked at the Mutsy 4 rider with twin seat. We've got the 3 wheel version and it's indestructable and I know on Ebay there are a few 4 wheel chassis - which they have a duo seat for - in line but not on top of each other like P&T's. Sticking with the buggy board - hopefully at 2yrs + 6mths Beanster can do walking!!

Beanstermummy · 21/08/2007 10:57

Mutsy is the urban Rider - not 4 rider! The duo seat onoly fits this - not the 3 Rider and is seperate from chassis.

cazzybabs · 21/08/2007 11:07

OHH I have the Medela Pump In Style - ha ha ha! There is nothing sylish about it!

Have just done 20 squeezes! How long do I hold them for?

MotherofZ · 21/08/2007 11:17

urrrm few seconds?
Don't you find that everytime you do it you need the loo...or do I just have a wierd bladder?

cazzybabs · 21/08/2007 11:19

No - I just need the loo all the time!

insywinsyspider · 21/08/2007 11:33

Medela pump rings a bell, one mum I knew had dd in special care, raved about medela pump but was too expensive for me and since ds was fine and I only expressed when had too hand pump was fine - claraq if in doubt of which one to get I'd recommend choosing the one that matches your bottle system as a starter, that solves the hassel of transfering if you don't do it very often, I used to express straight into bottle for a feed being used that day or one of the avent storage tubs that you could freeze but attach a teat too for feeding if it was for storage.

PELVIC FLOOR..... yep need a pee now

mixedmama · 21/08/2007 11:35

Morning

PELVIC FLOOR

kerioke · 21/08/2007 12:10

morning all!

I'm sat here doing my pelvic floors after reading up on the convo! well done guys, we will have the tightest lady bits on MN!

Last night me and dp went to bed and talked through various labour ideas, from what we would both like to what alternatives could be used when things inevitabley take a different turn, we also worked out childcare for the boys during labour and made up our list for labour and overnight bags.... very organised on paper, though we still havent bought anything or even named twiglet yet so not really organised at all... just pretending!

whilst talking through the labour plans etc it occured to me how scared i am, but excited at the same time... i remember my mum telling me when i was expecting ds1; 'the first time you are scared as you dont know what to expect, each time after that you are scared as you know what to expect!' lol my mum was right!

i am very uncomfortable at night lately and my head is so busy i am hardly sleeping, but when i finally drift off around 3ish i find it such a wrench getting up again in the morning!

how has everyones morning gone?? mine has been full of poo! i picked up poo from dog in garden, then emptied kittens litter tray and just as i thoguht the 'sh1t' part of the day was over i turned round and my 20 month old had removed his nappy, pooped on livingroom carpet and trodden it in everywhere! resulted in him being showered, me scrubbing on my knees and then showering myself! the little 'darling' is now having his day sleep, so i am going to relax and remove all pooey thoughts from my mind!

mixedmama · 21/08/2007 12:17

Kerioke - sorry to hear about all the poo.

My morning is going rather slowly as usual. Bored rigid.

JARM · 21/08/2007 12:19

Hello all! Found you again!

Kicks - ooooooh yes, except little boy doesnt like his daddy! Everytime DH goes to feel the kicks, he stops! DD1 (3.1yrs) is amazed by the kicks and is forever wanting to feel my tummy! DD2 isnt so clued up or bothered, but she isnt yet 2.

Little boy will be called Daniel James when he is born, so everyone is referring to him as Daniel already!

mixedmama · 21/08/2007 12:26

Thx bespeckle.

that is so nice Jarm. lovely when you can actually refer to them as a person.

cazzybabs · 21/08/2007 12:47

I like the name Daniel.

Mrswizz · 21/08/2007 14:28

Jarm, my boy doesn't like his daddy either, never kicks when DH is around. The only other person he moves for is his granny.
