Hellooooo there

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MotherofZ · 21/08/2007 14:20

Have read somewhere that orgasms make your uterus contract - but as like everyone else recommended, best to get things checked out.

barristermum · 21/08/2007 14:48

Have been so far from having sex that cannot give helpful advice to naetha save put your mind at rest honey and call the midwife. Like others I had read that incresed bloodflow leads to heightened sexual sensation in pregnancy but don't suffer in silence. And don't let it hold you back next time!
Just back from M/W appt - really lovely lady, all grand and heard baby's heartbeat and it moving around which felt fab. Am feeling extremely organised as going to look round a local nursery for when I go back to work - apparently you need to get your name down early round our way!
Sorry to hear about cazzybaby's flashing lights and sideways sickness- much sympathy to you guys and Mrs McJnr - hope your headache has gone now.
Re the whole food thing - haven't we just got to trust our own instincts and make the choices that feel right for us and we are happy living with - I am already sick of being told what to do and it makes me want to disobey just for the principle of it - we aren't children - just having them!
hugs to all

Naetha · 21/08/2007 14:55

I've spoken to them, and been told to take 2 paracetamol and rest for a couple of hours - seems like fairly sound advice really.

Suppose it was a bit daft really to do all the stuff that's meant to trigger labour, like a hot curry followed by bouncy sex with lots of nipple tweaking.

Gives me an excuse to rest for the remainder of the day though

mixedmama · 21/08/2007 15:00

Naetha - you make me laugh. For the record those things only work if baby is ready to come anyway, so dont worry yourself too much. Just take the opportunity to rest up.

Talking about nurseries - we put DD name down three months before she was born so she could start when she was 8 mths. The good nurseries do get booked up early. Thinking of putting beans name down at the same nursery in a few weeks too.

Tili · 21/08/2007 15:36

Hi ladies sorry to gatecrash

Mrsmcjnr I hope you are keeping well

I hardly ever get chance to come on mn anymore so thought Id see how you were getting along.

How many weeks are you now? Do you know the sex yet or are you going to have a surprise?

All is well here.Alex is now 4 months old and a whopping 17lb!! he is an absolute star one very content little boy.Beth starts school in 2 weeks and is really excited and is loving choosing her stuff for school.

Anyway I must dash and do the whole housework thing !! how depressing .

Take care xxx

fluffymummy · 21/08/2007 16:20

Naetha, your cramps sound horrid but I'm so so so jealous that you managed any nookie at all...in fact, its heading towards being so long since me and dh managed anything (actually, about 17 and half weeks exactly!!) that if it wasn't for the proof I'd have doubts we'd ever managed it at all .
If it helps, I do remember getting shockingly bad cramps when we nookied during my last pregnancy (usually at a really bad point in time ) but never had any problems like you afterwards, so can't help there...
Hope you're feeling better soon. Glad the cold didn't get in the way!!

MamaMaiasaura · 21/08/2007 17:51

wow it has been busy here Naetha - glad everything ok.

louise - glad scan went well. Fab for getting 12 pics, upload them on to profile for a peek

I am just grabbing the only 5 min spare had today.

Have to say i was hoping for twins but so glad am only having the one now! My ds and his cousin are so darn competitive! 4 weeks between them. Got her staying for a couple nights, only tonight to go and day out tommorrow. Feels like the longest playdate ever! She is usually a real sweetie but they are hard work atm.. bickering, cheeky etc etc.

Had midwife appt and spoke to her about the pains i had the other night and she gave me reassurance Said weight gain is fine for dates etc. She was cross about sonographers comment re my BMI as she said I had perfectly healthy BMI pre preg so was wrong to put down. I do however carry weight on tummy/boobs area and the sonographer meant my old mummy tummy was in the way . Heartbeat heard again, 148 Prior to blood pressure check my niece decided to chuck books on the floor, was being a right pickle to say the least. I obv told her off and then had blood pressure check. Was still good tho 115/62 (usually 100/60).

Been dragged in to act as negotiator mid this post too so kind of lost track of where i was.

Been waking up every few hours, midwife thinks the baby is lying on my bladder/pushing down there which i why i feel the need to wee so often. She suggested a very small amount of lavender (1 drop) on pillow and warm bath. Apparntly too much lavender can be a stimulant. She is lovely midwife. Also have to have a glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks due to last pregnancy.

Size whys tho she said i was fin, not big at all etc, bit of a relief as was getting worried as have been careful not to eat for 2 .

Right off to finish dinner. Hopefully will log on later but might be asleep by then!

MamaMaiasaura · 21/08/2007 17:52

omg sorry for the rambling. 2 seven year olds just done my head in today

mixedmama · 21/08/2007 17:57

I have to have the GTT as well. Hated it last time. In fact had it twice.

Naetha · 21/08/2007 18:16

Thans for all the reassurance guys, I feel like a right plank sometimes, but better to worry over something daft than ignore warning signs! (well, thats what I'm telling myself!) I'm the sort of person that worries about every single twinge, and when they don't go away I worry even more! Nice excuse for a relaxing day though, rather than making the most of a sickie to clean the house!

If its any consolation to those that do think I have any kind of a sex life, that was the first time in about 6 weeks - so much for the second trimester sex drive!

Spag bol for dinner tonight I think

mixedmama · 21/08/2007 18:18

mmmm.... quite fancy some of that myself.

Spag bol that is.

Naetha · 21/08/2007 19:16

On a completely different note (my mind is like a grasshopper lately) does anyone know why cold fizzy drinks make beanie treat my insides like a punchbag?

I'm quite enjoying giving him a workout my taking a swig of cold coke and a minute later feeling a kick. I didn't think the stomach and uterus were that close are they?

gingeme · 21/08/2007 20:14

Yuk I had the glucose test too the last two pregnancies will have to have it again soon. I hate Lukozade normaly let alone pregnant and on an empty tummy.
Yes Neatha thats a good way to get bean moving is with a few swigs of fizzy. Guess it must be a suger rush for them.
Well thats about it for today. Bath and bed soon Im so tired today.
Have a good night xxx

Cazzybaby · 21/08/2007 20:17

Where abouts did you girls feel the baby when you first started getting movement??

I'm gonna try laying on my back and seeing if I can feel anything but not sure if its low down or what that the first movement come from?

gingeme · 21/08/2007 20:24

First movements lower abdomen realy. Quite poppy/fluttery feelins. Feeling them now actualy as Im typing. Probably bean saying'come on Mum bath and bed'.

fluffymummy · 21/08/2007 20:39

stir fry for us...although spag bol does sound gooood...am amazed at all the early birds on here - we're both still working, won't be eating before 9 at the earliest and never make it to bed before midnight. Hmm...maybe thats why I'm permanently tired and there's nothing going on !

MamaMaiasaura · 21/08/2007 21:34

GTT are just horrid.. starving a pregnant woman is just cruel

First movements really low down and fluttery/bubbley.

The kids are asleep (sigh of relief) well except for beanie who seems to know when i get on the laptop! Am going to take kids out for whole day tomorrow and then straight to sisters to drop niece off. Found it quite hard this time. Long story suffice to say that attitude of a 15 year old in a 7 year old girl isnt pleasant. Love her to bit tho but sheesh do i feel like a wicked strict aunty!

Cazzybaby · 21/08/2007 21:40

Ok tonight I'm going to bed too see if I can feel a bubbly popping butterfly in my tummy!

ayrshirelolo · 21/08/2007 21:51

Hiya guys! Haven't said hello for ages, and haven't had time to read all the stuff i've missed - hope everyone is ok!
I've been feeling fairly crap recently, serious headache, flashy lights etc. Gp and midwife say i'm stressed and overtired... welcome to my life! but i've got a couple of weeks off on the sick so hooray, maybe catch up on the sleep a bit.
Still 3 weeks till the next scan... nervous but can't wait! Hope you are all ok, oh yeah, most stupid thing said to me by a doctor recently( about 12 years old and a bloke...) "are you passing water more often than usual?" my reply... "i'm PREGNANT... what's more often than all the time???"
take care everyone and any hints on headaches that don't involve constant paracetomol popping?? xx

Naetha · 21/08/2007 22:30

I think I'd die if I didn't get to bed before midnight Fluffy!! I used to go to bed around midnight every night, but now about 10:30 is my usual time. I'm just a nightmare if I don't get enough sleep - not only am I a grouchy person, but I just stop functioning normally - everything becomes ten times harder and takes twice as long.

Sorry you've been feeling a bit "overdone" recently Ayrshire - I think you have your own answer to sorting out the headaches - a bit of R and R I went through a phase of getting headaches every day at around 4pm, mainly due to eye strain. I changed my schedule slightly to do more work earlier in the day so I could go home when the headache kicked in, and literally would have half an hour just sitting with the cats when I got back - not watching TV, not reading, not going on the computer etc just to give my eyes a rest - that and drinking lots and lots and lots and lots of water

As for movements, definitely low down - mine are also nearly always on the right hand side. There's nothing I can really do to trigger them - they happen when he's in the mood, but when he is in the mood, then a gulp of a fizzy drink, or eating something cold like ice cream will make him give a bit of a kick. Don't think it can be a sugar rush causing the movement as it was diet coke I was drinking!

beller · 22/08/2007 08:45

Morning all!

Naetha - You made me smile

Awen - Glad the appr went well! I use lavender oil every night...does help...still gte up to theloo though

Cazzybaby- First of all was realy low down and at the front? Like bubbles popping under your skin? Now they are proper boots and al over, even quite high up by belly button (which is flattening out a bit! [hmm)

ayrshelolo- I had headaches almost everyday for about a month...they really were annoying....nothing i did got rid of them and they just dissapeared around 18-19 weeks!

Hope everyone is well...
Not sure if i said yesturday, but the hospital I am registered too was in the news last week...A women that was 22 weeks pregnant went there with bad tummy pains...there was no-one qualified to see to her..no midwives available...she was left for 2 1/2 hours on her own..in the end needed to go to the loo...gave birth to the baby which died. Now i know the baby propbably would have died at that stage anyway, but the oor woman going through all that on her own with no staff to see to her? Makes me really want to push for a home birth!

MotherofZ · 22/08/2007 08:51

Morning all!

Hope you all are well?

Beller - I was really upset when I read about that poor mother at the hospital and I woul dbe really worried about using that hospital too. Are you going to have a home birth now?

beller · 22/08/2007 08:53

oh forgot to say....not a good start to the morning! Was ont he train and there was a wasp on my rucksack...so put it on the floor and knocked the wasp to the ground..next thing I know the wasp has crawled up my trousersand stung me on the leg...ouch! really hurts and leg quite swollen..but have got cream now...
On a better note, I think I may have sold my car!! Only put it in auto trader monday night a woman is coming all the way from Cheltenham tonight to see it (125 miles!), so think she must be pretty sure! As long as she likes driving it..I suppose its sold! I love my car..but kno I will love babybel more [wink}...NOw have to find a new car!!

beller · 22/08/2007 08:55

motherofz - Well I was always going to ask for a home birth, I called the doctors to speak to the community midwife and she said speaking to her at my 25 week appt is ok. Im only about 10 mins from that hopsital anyway..so if needed could transfer in. Things that may go against me are age? im 37 maybe ven 38 by the time babybel comes, and I suffer with pernicious anaemia..so have to talk to her about that?
After that story though, really would prefer to be at home!
