Have no idea how much wieght i have put on, not going to even think about it until it is time to start losing it.

MotherofZ · 10/09/2007 11:39

ok - who wants to do it??? - don't know how to do that link thingy between the two threads...

Bettymamma · 10/09/2007 11:44

Good to have you back mixedmama - our threads crossed. I know what you mean about friends offering you stuff. I had a lot of 2nd hand stuff for dd but it was stuff I liked. The stuff I didn't like went down the charity shop. I've been offered a 2nd hand cot this time from a neighbour for £25 but I really don't like it. I'm going to say my mum's bought me one or something!

Anyway - it'll be good having 2 ds's - they can share. I was thinking that about my girls. How weird saying 'my girls'!

Bettymamma · 10/09/2007 11:45

fluffymummy - I think 6lb in 3 weeks is quite normal at this stage scarily enough. I'm scales dodging at the moment!

MamaMaiasaura · 10/09/2007 11:49

what title are we going to use for new thread?

mixedmama · 10/09/2007 11:51

I also got quite annoyed on friday as when I told people it was a boy they all immediately were like "oh, never mind" and then offered various reasons why a boy would be good. I actually had some crossed words as everyone seemed to assume i would be devasted.

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 10/09/2007 11:55

Awen - BM 'accidently' suggesed 'Asleep on our feet' for a new thread.

MM - had a similar experience at a wedding a while ago - people kept saying we hope you have a boy. It's this stupid mentally that older Asian people still have that a boy is needed in each family. Tried to tell them I'm not bothered - but don't think anyone paid any attention!

mixedmama · 10/09/2007 12:01

This was actually my mum, and then my dad said oh well thats it now tho no more and I was like errr I think that is our decision.

OP posts:
Bettymamma · 10/09/2007 12:09

I've had the same attitude too Mixedmama about expecting another girl. My MiL in said - oh well I suppose you can have another, nevermind. Very bizarre.

beller · 10/09/2007 12:16

Beckyau - Thanks...and yes really pleased, have another shopping expedition with my sisters next w/e too!

Angechica - Yes, there was a silver cross i liked too, but the prammette won.

Bettymamma - Im lucky my BIL is putting all the furniture together for me..so will get him to do it when hes finished decorating .

Mixedmamma - Glad you have now got a diagnosis on your brother and wish him well x

mixedmama · 10/09/2007 12:21

Just worked out I have 14 weeks until i no longer have to come to work anymore... woo hoo

Neuro · 10/09/2007 12:44

Hi Mixedmama - congrats on your scan. Does this mean you will be having a third child though?!

I"m quite envious you know what you're having...

Mine is wriggling loads, and definitely has a timetable - always active at 10am and 10pm. Maybe my coffee kicks in at 10am.

Anyway, glad you had a lovely week. My ambition apart from travelling the world is to be a stay at home mum. Sounds like heaven. Of course I'd need a husband with a good job in order to do that. I'll start advertising for one when this baby is about 1 1/2 so i can plan the next one!

I'm feeling quite good, but body feels heavy and exercise feeling like harder work despite doing quite a lot of cycling.

mixedmama · 10/09/2007 12:49

Hiya Neuro,

We had decided that we would go for number 3, but over the weekend we were not so sure. I am going to go for coil / diaphram(sp) after this LO and then if we want to try in a few years we can, but two just seems like such a reasonable number and I like the idea of being a family of 4.

It will def be a good four years tho, and we would need to have our own (very much larger) home and I will def be a SAHM after that.

We are both quite happy at the moment with the prospect of two. never say never tho and i would love a little girl.

Oh my gosh its so hard to keep up with everyone on here!.
Another boy mixedmamma excelent news.
bluebell like theother ladies have said relax and enjoy your scan its fantastic. Youll catch yourself saying wow a few times. Are you going to ask what sex your bean is?
Acualy saw a little plip poking out last night as bean was kicking away they seem to be all down the bottom but he must have done an about turn and kicked or punched straight up because three little plip bimpe appeared one after the other. Of course as soon as I told dh bean stopped still
Well were off to the library now. Have a good afternoon all.

Neuro · 10/09/2007 13:14

What is a plip bimpe?!

Mixedmama - 4 is good. You'll avoid middle child syndrome!

I CAN'T WAIT TO GIVE BIRTH NOW

fluffymummy · 10/09/2007 13:23

Well I'm one of 2, so I like that, but dh is one of 3 and has (almost) convinced me that 3 is a great number. Of course, mid-way thru cooking number 2 I'm getting close to the 'never again' stage, but I know that will pass. But a friend pointed out that middle child syndrome is a bit of an issue. DH said 'ok, we'd better have 4 then!'

Neuro · 10/09/2007 13:26

I'd love 4 because I am one of 4. But only having my first at 35 so have left it too late probably.

Neuro · 10/09/2007 13:26

MotherofZ · 10/09/2007 13:33

Defo stopping after this one regardless if it is another girl or boy. I think with two we'll be able to bring them up with the nice things in life, where as if we had more it might be a bit of a struggle.

It's going to be so weird going from saying 'I've got one daughter to I've got two....' !!

Angechica · 10/09/2007 13:39

Neuro I know - had tears in bed last night -irrationally accusing DH of going off me because I am getting so big! A lot of it is just frustration because still have 18 weeks to go. 12 more weeks at work Also feeling v scared of the unknown at the moment. I keep poring over my baby books and catalogues. As well as spying on the birth announcements I have been peeking at their pics of their little newborns all in little white outfits and getting all teary eyed as well. (We will have to get little snow suits for our winter babies!) I thought I was back in the realms of sanity after the MS wore off but no, the hormonal loopiness continues...

Bettymamma · 10/09/2007 13:47

I think the hormonal loopiness fades once the dc is a year old?? Angechica - I think your fears are normal. We'll be ok. It goes fast.

MotherofZ - I think I agree with just having 2 but will I stop feeling broody after this one? Are you expecting another dd? I can't find the previous roll call!

I actually don't know how people do it with more than 2 - Gingeme, step in and tell us!

Beller - if you're about - how was your yoga class the other day?

tripletsandtwins · 10/09/2007 13:50

Fluffymummy- 3 is a great number! But 5 is even better ! I'm sure 4 would be good too...

I'm just going to say to all those who are having boys that I find my boy to be much easier work than my girls - they argue much more, and are more strongly opinionated!

Neuro · 10/09/2007 13:50

Aw Angechica - it will pass!
To help me stop thinking it will take ages before the birth, i've been thinking in terms of what i have to do before i pop it out and that i only have 3 1/2 months of life left, for me as a childless so far person, of my old life. So although i do feel really prepared for the birth and arrival of a little un, i'm just taking stock of this time, am now forcing myself to have lie-ins on Sunday which i almost never do as i like to be up and about doing stuff!

But, I am bored though!!! I've been waiting to have a baby for about 5 years, so this last bit of actually growing one is almost like the final thought.

I CANNOT WAIT TO NOT HAVE TO SEE MY BOSS EVERYDAY. In fact, when on maternity i'm going to look about for other jobs. I'm still in process of retraining at college and will change profession in a few years, so don't have to stay here for career development. He came in today moaning that his weekend was all about cleaning, food shopping, doing the washing, walking the dog etc. ERRR HELLO?? What does the think everyone else is doing?!

I'd like to share a health tip with you all, one of i've been doing a number of years, but for preggy ladies, really useful i'd expect. all it is: i eat Arame seaweed and put it on top of salads, chuck it in stews/soups/pasta dishes. It's not fishy at all, altho you know it does taste a bit of the sea, but these are it's health benefits:
------
?All of the minerals required by human beings, including calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium, iodine, iron, and zinc are present in sufficient amounts. In addition, there are many trace elements in seaweeds.? Edible plants from the sea also contain important vitamins including vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene), B1, B2, B6, niacin, vitamin C, pantothenic acid, and folic acid. Analysis has shown trace amounts of vitamin B12, which rarely occurs in land vegetables.

Sea vegetables classified as brown algae, including arame, hijiki, kombu and wakame, have been shown to cleanse the body of toxic pollutants. Specifically, scientific research has demonstrated that these plants, which are abundant in alginic acid, bind with any heavy metals in the intestines, render them indigestible, and cause them to be eliminated from the body.

Seaweed feeds the shafts and the ducts of the scalp to help improve the health of the hair. It has been said that the thick, black, lustrous hair of the Japanese is partly due to their regular diet of brown sea vegetables such as arame. Research has shown that minerals are important to healthy hair growth, and arame has a high mineral content.

Other health benefits, according to Carlson Wade?s book Health Secrets from the Orient, include regulating the hormones, enriching the bloodstream, assisting in metabolism, promoting a youthful skin color, and helping to warm the body to promote mental youthfulness.
-------
Sorry for such a long post, but it's a genius food source that seems to be particuarly good for us women. And it's almost flavourless so doesn't interrupt any other food flavours you've got going on. Arame is ok to eat when preg, but some seaweeds aren't tho, so check out first!

mixedmama · 10/09/2007 13:59

Neuro - I meant family of 4 including DH and myself. No way to four children.

Did any of you see on the news about the £200 incentive for preg women to go to their doc to have a discussion about nutrition - it is cash. Not until 2009 tho unfortunately.
