Hellooooo there

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
barristermum · 05/09/2007 09:03

Hey girls, am feeling most indulgent. Not in court today and so lying in bed with a cup of tea whilst I decide how to spend day. Already have a mid-morning coffee with neighbour sorted out and feeling a lady of leisure. Sorry to those having to contend with work and tube strikes etc.

MotherofZ - sometimes days can get you down like that! Something hot, cheesy and savoury from Greggs usually sorts me out too.

Nicky6 - we are having a meet up at the Piccadily Circus Pizza Express on 19th Sept in the evening if you can make it. Gingeme has been an organisational goddess and there are 6 of this thread going - plus another thread of those due last Oct who gingme knows well. I feel, like others, a bit nervous about it for some reason but think it wd be really nice to all properly put faces to names and compare bump sizes. Am really sorry other regulars live too far away to join in.

Mrs McJnr and 2manyshoes - so glad for your scans and now really desperate for my own. Feel especially chuffed for Mrs McJnr as you are now past your crucial 20 week marker and know all's well from scan - hope you are now feeling thoroughly chilled and confident.

Beller, I have only vague memories from the time I did family law but i really don't think putting ex's name on birth cert gives him the right to stop you taking babybel out of country - I did a case once where husband and wife divored and she had residence and he only had contact for holidays etc and he couldn't stop her takingtheir child to NZ permanently when she emigrated with new partner, so eally think that wdn't be an issue. Neuro is right that it makes things with CSA clearer and I REALLY feel (not that it's any of my business I understand) that you should extract money from him that way - he isn't, CLEARLY, going to do anything voluntarily and they will look at tax returns etc to establish what he should be giving you. Don't think you have to precisely pursue him thru the courts or anything. I think the key thing wd be whether putting him on cert gave him parental responsibility, in which case if he wanted to be notified of holidays, school events etc, he wd have to pursue you thru the cts to get orders making you do so. His past history of involvement wd militate against him in his efforts to get the court to support him. But franlkly given his past conduct I really can't see him making the effort can you? Long ramble from me - at the end of the day the most important thing is that you do what's best for you and babybel emotionally and if you are mature enough to rise above him, full credit to you and we all here on this thread cheer you from the sidelines!!!!

Nyway, big hugs to alll - off to get some breakfast.

LilyLoo · 05/09/2007 09:11

Have a lovely day Barristermum.
As i know some of you are in the process of moving could i ask if any of you haven't sorted your mortgage or looking to remortgage to take a look here thanks

gingeme · 05/09/2007 09:38

Lol barristermum organisatonal godess. Control freak more like.
Oh you poor tearful ladies there is only one word for it Im afraid and that is 'hormones'. Yes us ladies go through turmoil when were menustrating, trying for baby, pregnant, after baby, bf baby, thinking of another baby, periods return to start the cycle all over again. Im coming back as a man next time.
I tried my doppler system last night and after a bit of shifting around I found beans heartbeat. Ah lovely little fella.
I got some ickle clothes through the post from Ebay today and layed them on my belly(was getting dh up and was laying on the bed) and bean gave them a good kick and moved them off. We both laughed. A fashion critic already.
Going to Ikea today to buy the finnishing touches for our bathroom. Have a good day all xxx

beller · 05/09/2007 10:01

Motherofz - Not good not being in control of emotions eh!! I nearly burst into tears this mornign on the train reading about Jane Tomlinson! managed to hold it together though

Barristermum- No i dont think he would either...The mother of his daughter dosnt let him have her overnight or take her away ( never has), and he has never dont antyhing about that!?

Gingme - Great hearing the heartbeat isnt it! I have sent my doppler back now, but babybel rewards me with kicks all through the day and I love it

gingeme · 05/09/2007 10:11

Yes I must admit I sat and cried at the news the other night when they were talking about that poor little 11 year old being shot dead in Liverpool. One of his friends read a tribute to him and that just did it. Probably the fact I have a son the same age too and just couldnt imagine what his poor parents are going through.

MamaMaiasaura · 05/09/2007 10:38

Toomanyshoes - am glad to hear baby is all ok. SHame you had a stroppy sonographer

Gingeme - sounds fab to hear babys heart on the doppler. We have bought the summer listening thng (isnt a doppler) can make out heartbeat but not as clear as on a doppler. We can here LOTS of kicks tho! (currently beanie is having a disco i think as he is bouncing around)

Barristermum - soundls like a lovely relaxing day for you.

Beller - sorry you have had to go through all of that crap with your ex. As far as i know unmarried fathers now automatically get parental responsiblity. I cannot see, however, what grounds your ex would have for stopping you going out of the country. If he is on the birth certificate it will help in terms of CSA. I am not professional qualified tho to know. Your new car sounds lovely and

MotherofZ - sorry you are having one of those shitty days when the world goes wrong. Does seem so much bigger and more upsetting with our preggie hormones.

Nicky - thanks for tip re jeans. I might have to indulge. I have under bump jeans and my bottom wont keep them up. I am selling my car too, although mine is only a corsa. Been offered between 2k - 3k from garage.

MrsMCJnr - you arent a dragon I thought the thumb suckng one was really sweet. Did beanie move alot in the scan. DP found the 20 week scan made it really really real for him. Thank you for doing your updates, I would never catch up otherwise!

I am fine here, dp back to work today and have lots of those little jobs to do. Beanie is active today. Love how his kicks keep getting stronger and my belly moves. So pleased with obsteric appt. Really like our consultant (met him when I had ds1). He inspires confidnece and has a wicked sense of humour. Also pleased will get extra scans. Already had 4 scans so will be total of 6!

Is it this friday mixedmamma has her scan?

MotherofZ · 05/09/2007 10:47

Awen - I think so, am sure she will be on line shortly to tell us about it.

In my moments of boredom at work I've counted 13 weeks to maternity leave. (due 30th Dec). Who's leaving sooner?

MamaMaiasaura · 05/09/2007 10:56

already at home

MotherofZ · 05/09/2007 11:02

Awen - how comes?? - thought u cant start M/L until 11 wks before?

MamaMaiasaura · 05/09/2007 11:18

The ward i was working on closing when i was early pregnancy. Was given option of extending contract or not. Decided not as was a voilatile environment, and glad i did leave as staff were attacked the next day.

We decided for me to be SAHM and ds1 is loving me being here before and after school and DP is loving having me home too.

beller · 05/09/2007 12:00

Motherofz - im the same i think, depending on how i feel, will be around 12/13 weeks?

Anyone esle obsessed with food....just finished my lunch and thinking about what else i can eat!

Angechica · 05/09/2007 12:08

Hope u don't mind me updating list. Just got back from scan & everything was fine. It scares me how "textbook" everything has been so far - probably end up with a nightmare birth! Baby's hands and feet looked huge - taking after DH already!

Glad it went well Angechica....i feel that way sometimes too!

Angechica · 05/09/2007 12:20

Re: food ... to celebrate happy scan, I've just been to Pret and treated myself to their special sandwich and a chocolate brownie mousse for lunch. Mmmmmmmmm.

I'd have to say anyone who wants brill ante natal care - move to Northumberland! I moved here from London 5 yrs ago otherwise I'd be at the dreaded Whittington for all this I guess!

My midwife is so lovely, and the sonographer today were just brilliant, canny Geordies happy to chat and tell you everything you want to know!

Bettymamma · 05/09/2007 12:27

Me too beller - just had cheese and ham sarnies, peach, pear, choc brownie and crisps. Helppppp!

Awen - you made the right choice. Had 'working from home' day yesterday cos of tube strike and its made me realise I really don't want to work at the moment. Need that lottery win (which I'm sharing with gingeme!?)

MotherofZ - I have 12 weeks till maternity leave - 4 weeks hols owed you see. (due 31st dec)

Gingeme - i cried at that news story too. Its shocking isn't it. Had a tear this morning as well cos dd got into my bed at 4.30am cos shes missing daddy. Heh - only 3 and half weeks till his return darling!?

Have a fabulously relaxing day Barristermum.

Started pregnancy yoga last night. Forgotten how brilliant it is. You do all these exercises to strengthen your muscles for giving birth and breathing exercises and relaxation stuff. I totally credit it for my 4 hour labour last time.

Bettymamma · 05/09/2007 12:28

oh congrats on the scan Angechica!
Quite fancy that choc brownie mousse you're having.x

beller · 05/09/2007 12:38

bettymamma - I start a pregnancy yoga course tomorrow!! cant wait! used to do Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga , I guess its quite a bit different, gentle and more relaxing?

Bettymamma · 05/09/2007 12:40

You will LOVE it. Yes - all very relaxing and a lot of sitting down. A lot of squeezing those pelvic floor muscles as well!

MrsMcJnr · 05/09/2007 12:40

Hey ladies feeling even less motivated that usual today, very annoying colleague is trying to throw his weight about and I can?t be arsed with it (if truth be told, I am more senior but that?s slipped his mind) grrrrrrrrrrr! Plus the firm are being discriminatory against me about recording my AN appointments ? thing is, why should I care? hopefully in 15 weeks & 2 days I?ll be on mat leave and won?t be coming back but I guess old habits die hard!

Naetha ? hope the itching has stopped, lots of my friends have complained about that.

Neuro ? hello hello LouiseSj and Lilyloo

Hey Beller Re father?s on the birth certificate ? I was out of date sorry. This site looks interesting on this subject www.advicenow.org.uk/go/livingtogether/feature_258.html?pkgid=22 so glad that your are liking the car

MotherofZ ? sorry to hear that you feel teary sending big hugs. You?ll be on mat leave before me

Barristermum ? enjoy your day! thanks for your thoughts for me ? I do feel a lot better but it?ll take some time to relax into it I guess actually believing now that I might get a baby at the end of this and keep getting waves of excitement

Gingeme ? LOL at the clothes kicking!

Awen that?s exactly the problem with the jeans my sister has lent me, in fact, all under the bump things are pretty uncomfy because they fall off. Beanie was really active during the scan but didn?t make the consultant cross; she seemed to get all that she needed from Beanie thank you for liking my photos I really feel that it looks like a baby now. So glad you are feeling happy about things my next scan is 3 weeks tomorrow Think Mixedmama?s scan is on Friday. My DH would love me to be at home full time, so would I at the mo.

Ah Angechica so glad all went well hon

Bettymamma ? can I join in the lottery win? Pleeeaassse! Yogs sounds fab, must look into it.

We had a viewer for the house last night, he seemed to like it then the lady from the church came back saying positive things and we have another viewer tonight ? am so hoping we sell it soon!

MotherofZ · 05/09/2007 12:43

oohh chocolate mousse - sounds divine!!
Just had a tuna sandwich, crisps and a flapjack - yum yum! Got a meeting this afternoon - how am I going to survive 2 hrs without food??

MrsMcJnr · 05/09/2007 12:44

Not had my lunch yet but I'll be hunting a cheese and ham toasted foccacia I think

MotherofZ · 05/09/2007 13:02

congratulations on the scan angechia...missed that posting before

Lulubump · 05/09/2007 13:28

Hi Everyone! I confess I've been reading this thread for a few days now, but I tend to get so sucked in to everyone else's posts that I never write anything. I'm due on 4th Jan, first timer and having a surprise. Had our third scan last week - had to go back after the initial 20-week one as lo wasn't co-operating. The sonographer actually referred to my 'stubborn little foetus' not quite sure how I felt about that!

Hormones are definitely kicking in -last night I thought my poor DH, who is usually lovely, was a complete monster. What did I base this feeling on? Absolutely NOTHING! I grumped around all evening, and went to bed at about 9:00, and refused to have dinner which he'd offered to make
Think he's a bit stunned that I'm so cheerful today.

Have been referring to the bump as Lulu, as had a strong feeling from the beginning that I was having a girl. Have now started thinking I should go for something more gender neutral before I give my poor child a gender complex before its even born!

About lunch today - been v healthy and had lentil soup, bagel and hummus.....could now kill for a chocolate brownie, or mousse (are we allowed mousse by the way? I thought raw eggs were involved there somewhere).

Angechica · 05/09/2007 13:31

I had that thought about the mousse as well. But have dug the pot out of the bin and it was made with pasteurised egg so it's OK.

It was from Boots BTW and it was gorgeous.

Lulubump · 05/09/2007 13:37

Thanks for the tip Angechica - guess where I'm heading after work . I have managed to temporarily statify my craze for chocolate with a mini-celebrations mars bar from the office chocolate stash. Feeling abit more human now!
