Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
beller · 04/09/2007 08:06

that was supposed to read finding it tough..not touch!

beller · 04/09/2007 08:09

on the good news front, my dad spoke to my cousin, who has 3 children, byt the time I may need a childminder, 2 of hers will be at school, and she would be willing to help out re minding!....She dosnt live too far, so might work out . Still dont know what ill be doing, but....hahaha x

gingeme · 04/09/2007 08:39

Good morning ladies. Beller great you can come to the meet up and great you have made a strong desicion re your XP. You go girl. I think its worse having a Daddy that looks after a child when it suits him than having an absent Daddy tbh. My sil's first son has a Dad like that and now her son is a teen he told his Dad not to bother if he cant be bothered.
Im in pain today. Picked ds4 up from his cot and my back has gone. It happened before when ds3 was a bout the same age. Its just where my bra strap is. This must be the weak spot of my back then. Will see how it goes today. If it gets too bad Ill see my Osteopath. Luckily dh is about today to do any lifting.
Oh well better get dressed taking ds4 for a photo shoot at 10.
Have a good day all xxx

LilyLoo · 04/09/2007 08:44

mornin everyone
Poor you Gingeme hope it get's better soon.
Glad you have made a decision Beller and it sounds like the right one at least baby will know where it stands this way and only one person will be missing out on things. It must be terribly hard though, you are very brave and am sure you will make a fantastic mum to baby

MotherofZ · 04/09/2007 08:49

Morning all
Hope you all are well. Nothing much to say other than 'hi!'
Beller - he is such a toss pot. Really gets my blood boiling when I hear about irresponsible men.
RE: The nursery debate - DD has been going to nursery for 3 days FT since last August. She's really settled in well and enjoys the various activities they do there, which is good as some of the things I wouldn't do at home with her on a regular basis - i.e shaving foam play, baking etc. I'll continue to put her in nursery while I am on mat leave and after I've had the baby PT just to give her that social time.

LilyLoo · 04/09/2007 08:57

i with you on the nursery thing motherofz.
Dd has been going twicw a week since she was 6 monhts old and she will continue with that until school.
She loves it and would be quite upset to leave i'm sure.
But it is always great if family can help out as dd goes to her nanna's one day a week and they both enjoy that and she get's thoroughly spoilt there and best of all it doesn't cost anything unlike nursery!

MotherofZ · 04/09/2007 09:01

Lilyloo- smae here - DD spends the remaining 2 days with in-laws (she loves it there as she is spoilt rotten) and it's free!
Am so grateful they do that - otherwise our nursery fees would be HUGE!

MrsMcJnr · 04/09/2007 09:13

Help - quick question before my scan - do I need a full bladder and do you need to take a urine sample with you? thanks

gingeme · 04/09/2007 09:21

No you dont need a full bladder for a 20 week scan though it may be an idea to have a couple of glasses of something(not beer though ).
No you dont need to take a wee sample. Good luck. x

MrsMcJnr · 04/09/2007 09:25

Many thanks hon, back later (heart feels like I've been taking speed or something!) x

Naetha · 04/09/2007 09:25

Morning all

Yes MrsMac you need a full bladder! Ideally take a urine sample with you as well.

Yesterday was a bit crappy - my boss was being a nightmare about everything, from having to leave early to meet the plumber (he didn't seem to care that we had no water until the plumber sorted things) to how my maternity leave works. Essentially he wants my maternity leave to start as late as possible (i.e. he wants me to work up to the Christmas break when I will be 39 weeks) so it makes the figures look good. Needless to say, I will be taking as much time off as I feel is right, most likely from the 1st December 07 to the 2nd January 09

Really excited about my holiday in Jersey - I've already started having panic dreams about forgetting my passport though!! Need to actually work out how we're going to get to the airport on time and which terminal now etc - ooh exciting!

Beanie was kicking loads yesterday - I felt like the proverbial punchbag! Haven't experienced hiccups yet - I'm sure that is a delight I have yet to experience!

Beller - the situation with XP sounds ahem...less than ideal, but it seems like you're going the right way about it - make sure it's all on your terms not his, and that he can't come swanning back when he feels like facing up to reality.

The meet-up sounds like really good fun, but I'm afraid I won't be able to make it - Leeds/Bradford is just a little too far! I'm sure you'll all have a great time though!

Naetha · 04/09/2007 09:26

Lol - sorry for conflicting posts vs Gingeme - I guess it varies from place to place - I needed a full bladder AND a wee sample!

LilyLoo · 04/09/2007 09:27

i had afull bladder as wasn't sure mrs mc then was told to go to the toilet as it was squashing baby and she couldn't do measurements so don't bother.
Also didn't take urine sample either.
hope all goes well

beller · 04/09/2007 09:59

Gingeme - hop eyour back gets better ouch! x

Lillyloo - thanks xx

Motherofz - I would always send my child to a nursery (not sure what age, depends on circumstances), even for a few sessions, for social skills and interaction with other children .Like you say, they will do a wider range of activities there x

Mrsmcjnr - Good luck, I need a full bladder ( clearer pic apparently?), but no urine sample xx

Naetha - When babybel gets hiccups, it makes me giggle.....(only teice, but very funny!)
xx

Bettymamma · 04/09/2007 10:52

Morning ladies

Working from home today cos of tube strike - am having 'tea break' at the mo so am indulging in mumsnet! You were busy after i left last night!

Mrs McJnr - good luck with the scan - enjoy! I know you've prob left already but i didn't need a full bladder. Like naetha says - prob varies place to place

Naetha - ignore the boss you are going soon. Have fun in Jersey!

MotherofZ/Lilyloo - my mum looks after dd 3 days a week. We tried a nursery and a childminder and i hate to say it to scare anyone but my dd hated it and never settled and actually would shake with fear when dropping her off. They are all different though. She started at 9 months and it was just awful. After trying 3 different places, we ended up having to move house (and county!) to be near my mum. All's well now though and she very happily does pre-school 1 morning a week (she's 2 on Friday!). This will be 2 mornings a week when bean arrives.

Gingeme - hope you are ok with your back. Its difficult isn't it cos you can't really stop lifting your dc's can you? All my family trying to find out what sex baby is. They've all decided boy cos its all out front. What do they know!

Barristermum - happy to have you back!

one more thing - to get working tax credits you need to work over 16 hours a week and your combined salaries (if you have a partner) need to be under £60k.

Beller - am so sorry to hear about xp. You are right though. His behaviour would really affect babybel and it wouldn't be fair. It is best to cut ties for a bit if you can do it i think. Cousin as childminder sounds good!

That's taken me AGES to write.

Right - back to work! xx

gingeme · 04/09/2007 11:17

Get back to work right now Bettymamma !!
Tis ok Neatha your right about how different anti natal care is from place to place.
at Neatha going to Jersey. A beautiful place. I went with my parents when I was little and still remember it. Have fun on those lovely beaches.
Back is a bit achey now but not as bad. Ill take paracetamol every 4 hours and see if that helps if not Ill see my dh's osteopath at some point.

toomanyshoes · 04/09/2007 11:31

morning all, I'm another one working from home today due to tube. Have scan this afternoon so would have taken hours to get to office only to leave after an hour to get back in time for that!
Still haven't seen midwife and am nearly 24 weeks!! Briefly met her for booking in at 11 weeks but nothing since, have now phoned 5 times and left messages, she called back once and left a message to call her on a particular number between 10 and 12 on a certain day but was in a meeting during that time so back to square one of leaving more messages!! Wasn't too bothered until now as early in the pregnancy but think it's getting ridiculous now. Hey ho, rant over!
Re nursery debate, I think it totally depands on the child and the nursery. My dd started 3 days a week at 9 months and has loved it from day one. On days she isn't due to go she always asks if she can go and play with her friends today! She has great relationships with the other kids and the carers. It has definitely been the right childcare for her but I'm not assuming that it will automatically suit this baby too. Will just play it by ear and hope for the best!
MrsMcJnr - fingers crossed for the scan, will be back to compare notes later!
Gingeme - sorry about the back, hope it gets better v soon!
Beller - glad you are coming to the meet up and sorry to hear he didn't turn up, what a wanker!
Barristermum - will be fab to meet you at the meet up too, never met anyone from mumsnet before, am a bit nervous!
Big wave to everybody else xx

MotherofZ · 04/09/2007 12:09

at everyone who is going to the meet-up. Are you taking laptops or pictures?

MrsMcJnr · 04/09/2007 12:52

Hello Just wanted to let you all know that the scan went well this morning our consultant is so nice she had a student with her which was great as she was telling her in detail what everything was too; we saw the face, nose, lips, all the organs in intricate detail, souls of the feet, toes, hands, thumb sucking it was fab ? and the sex is still a surprise! I must have got myself quite worked up about it though as feel so sick and hung over now. What a relief though! I?ve posted a couple of Beanie?s new photos on my profile.

Thanks for all the help ? no full bladder or sample needed here

Bettymamma · 04/09/2007 13:00

beller · 04/09/2007 13:56

Quick question.....Not sure if anyone will know...Just reading a post on the "Lone parents" topic..and they are saying that to avoid any problems, dont name XP on birth certificate, as if he wanted, then he can say that i cant travel..have to ask for a passport..and has say in schools etc? Wasnt my post, but just had me thinking as I was going to put his name on there? Would feel weird not to, but dont want any future hassles? Was putting it on there for Babybel not for me?
