Expecting twins in 2020?

Passionfruit20 · 16/10/2019 07:37

Is anyone else expecting twins (or more!) in 2020? I just found out I am. They’ll be our first. Technically due in April, although reality means probably March. Would love to share with other mums in the same situation as I’m now reading a whole new set of baby books and articles!

Not long to go then, you've got this!

He sounds fab, what a star!

Ladybug84 · 05/12/2019 07:15

Thanks for your replies. I'm trying not to worry too much, it's only coloured discharge rather than full on bleed. I've noticed it's always appeared after a busy day, so I'm just thinking my cervix might be a bit sensitive...?

@SleepingStandingUp your son is a star and I'm sure you're a very proud mummy! Hope you find some relieve for the pain. I didn't realise you were so close to giving birth, no long now. How many weeks will you be next week?

@twinmum2017 you made me laugh. I'll take your tip on how to answer the fertility question 😂 oh those nosey parkers...

@lifesnotaspectatorsport 🤣 some people didn't take their biology class seriously

I have booked today and tomorrow off, we're having new floor and carpets fitted and I thought I'd use my energy to get the Christmas decorations out, but I've been awake since 3am!! So it's going to be a sofa kind of day today I think 😅
Xx

Hi ladies, been a while since i posted on here. Hope you are all doing well and welcome to all those who have recently found out!

I am now 28weeks so officially in the third trimester! Second trimester was a dream (apart from lack of sleep but i have got used to it). As soon as i hit the third i have sciatica and nausea is back Sad. Only max 8 weeks to go now. Although i am convinced the girls will arrive at 34 weeks!

@Ladybug84 when I was 9 weeks i had 10days worth of brown blood, which was there everytime I went to the toilet. Because I had an early scan a couple of days before I wasnt overly concerned and just kept an eye on it going to fresh blood and/or cramps. My midwife said that around those weeks the babies can be properly 'attaching' to your uterus so it can cause some light bleeding.

Enjoy your sofa day! I am going to be doing the same after only 3hrs sleep last night. Xx

Jahzmine · 05/12/2019 09:32

@Wishing56 ooh hiya I'm 28 weeks too! Hope your pregnancy is going well and you're not getting too much pain. I'm expecting 2 boys. When's your due date? X

SleepingStandingUp · 05/12/2019 09:54

@Ladybug84 I'll be 36+1, I worry its too learly and I'm being selfish as it's booked around me having overnight care for DS, I feel like I should be waiting another week and risking DH not being able to stay but so scared of something going wrong and him not being there

Ladybug84 · 05/12/2019 11:49

Hi

@Wishing56 oh that's so similar to my case, having a scan for reassurance helps 100%. Thanks for sharing the comment from your MW, so interesting! Congratulations on reaching the third trimester! Hope you gets lots of rest today to keep you going for another few weeks.

@SleepingStandingUp I'm sure that the doctors have agreed to that date because everything will be fine. You'll be only 6 days short of what's considered full term for twins and you will need to recover from the C-section so having the extra help with DS will be one thing less to worry about.

One question about due dates with twins, what do you go by? The 37week mark or 40week as usual?

Wishing56 · 05/12/2019 11:56

@Jahzmine ah lovely. I am identical girls.
Due date is 24th Feb but the twins will be delivered around 27th January. How about you? Xx

SleepingStandingUp · 05/12/2019 13:09

I go by their actual due date (Jan 9th) but then once known say when they're coming.

Just got scanned, T1 is 5lb 13 and T2 is 6lb 2 and somehow managed to go from cephalic to traverse!!

Jahzmine · 06/12/2019 11:20

@Wishing56 my due date is 21st February. I haven't been told the rough time I'd be having them. Its worrying me a little as everyone else seems to know their date. How's your pregnancy been so far. Not too painful I hope xx

Wishing56 · 06/12/2019 11:45

@Jahzmine i was only told that they will deliver me around 36weeks as they are identicals so that works out around 27th Jan. I dont get my csection date until I am 32weeks.
If you are having non identicals then delivery is normally around 37weeks.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/12/2019 12:32

@Jahzmine I got my date for identicals at 31 weeks for 36 week delivery , my mate got hers at 34 for 37 week delivery (identicals), the non identicals in our group still don't all have their dates and they due in January.
Do you know if you want a C Sec?

MrsEG · 09/12/2019 16:04

Hi ladies, haven’t posted in a little bit! I am 29 weeks now with DCDA twins. I’ve started noticing I’m getting very swollen feet towards the end of the day. Wondering if compression socks could help out a bit? Also feeling quite breathless - but I know one twin is sitting quite high so I think he is the culprit there!
I’ve really noticed that it’s all getting a bit more difficult in the last week or so; even the food shop feels like running a marathon these days. Going on mat leave after next week and it cannot come soon enough!!

@Jahzmine I don’t know my exact delivery date yet - all I’ve been told is I’m aiming for 37 weeks. I am now on bi-weekly growth scans, they are on the 50th centile and both breech so keeping a close eye on them!

Jahzmine · 09/12/2019 16:21

@Wishing56 @SleepingStandingUp thank you both for that information I can now estimate it myself. I appreciate that.

@SleepingStandingUp I want to try my hardest to be able to give birth naturally but it depends if these babies turn around.

@MrsEG I'm glad someone is on exactly the same page as me. I get that foot thing, my feet don't get swollen but they hurt alot when I walk for small amounts of time, it's so frustrating and quite embarrassing sometimes. I get breathlessness alot, at least once a day. Both mine are breech and they're not keeping a close eye on them... This worrys me abit as they're keeping an eye on you. Also one of the twins is 7ozs bigger than the other, bigger belly and I'm sure she said we'll have to keep an eye on that but not sure how as my next scan is Dec 27th. Little bit worried

SleepingStandingUp · 09/12/2019 17:41

Obv depends on their overalll size but mine def varies by that much sometimes and then even up again, dint forget a mm in the scan makes a big difference. Last measure was 5lb 13 and 6 lb 2.

think with twisn especially they just like to be really watchful and mindful,

Jaxx14 · 10/12/2019 22:56

Question about folic acid and vitamins...I’m 12 weeks on Thursday and wondering if I should continue my Pregnacare vitamins or not? Midwife said I need to take vitamin D if I stop the multi vitamin but wondering what people suggest? Thanks!

Courtney555 · 11/12/2019 07:21

I've been told to take all through the pregnancy

Baileya · 11/12/2019 13:03

Hey thought I'd join the group as just found out I'm pregnant with identical twins shocked. I have to go back next week as one twin was a little small to measure but should be 13 weeks on Saturday. I have a little boy who's 3 in April and a 16month old girl. I'm struggling to see how this is going to be possible. Wondering if any of you are in the same boat.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/12/2019 17:24

I've been on ward since about 2 am this morning with roasted BP, it isn't that high so I'm rather grumpy they won't discharge but I also recognise they're putting the babies possible safety first. They come Friday, I just want to get home and spend one last night with my current boy before the new boys invade.

Congratulations @Baileya, the truth is you just will. Take what support you can, make sure DP is doing his share and just get from one day to the next!! Is there any partic bit that's worrying you?

Baileya · 11/12/2019 17:56

Well now the shock has worn off. I've just been reading up which is making me nervous with all the things that can go wrong.

Chaosonthehorizon · 11/12/2019 19:49

Baileya me me!! Mine are 5 and 3 and also wondering how on earth to deal with all, just over 14 wks but harmony dates and nhs ones don’t match so can’t remember which we are going with. NHS I think. Also identical so worried about risks.

Baileya · 11/12/2019 20:48

@chaosonthehorizon oh so cool to find someone in the same position and were also close. I was so shocked at my 12 week scan that I couldn't suck anything in. So I can't wait till Tuesday so I can ask questions. My family is also so excited that I feel a lot of pressure for things to go good.

Ladybug84 · 11/12/2019 21:06

Welcome @Baileya and congratulations! It will be hard to start with but I'm sure you'll find the way, just think about how lovely your Christmas' will be when they're all grown up and you have a house full of love. I love large families 🥰

@SleepingStandingUp good luck for Friday, the day is nearly here. I hope your BP stabilises so you can spend tonight at home with DS 🍀

I had a bit of a scare yesterday as I went to the loo at lunch time at work and found my undies covered in blood. The rest of the day the bleeding was only flowing when going to the toilet. The EPU saw me this morning, they've been brilliant, and gave me good news, the twins are growing nicely. They've found a hematoma which is probably the cause of the bleeding. They've told me not to worry too much, so I'll stay away from Google and just take it easy until my dating scan on Christmas Eve. I'm 10+1 today... nearly there! 🤞🏼

Baileya · 11/12/2019 21:30

Thanks @Ladybug84 I come from a large family have 2 sisters and 2 brothers. I always wanted 4 but we were going to stop at 3. But I feel what's meant to be will be. So fingers crossed everything goes good. How have you been feeling

SleepingStandingUp · 11/12/2019 21:32

@Ladybug84 sorry you've had such a scare, fingers crossed it settles down x

I'm in tonight, we'll see tomorrow.

The risks with identicals are scary, but it's important to remember the stats are on your side and the risks are why you're monitored so much so they're looking after you hard. Three sets of MCDA twins in our hospital group, first came 37+2, day before planned C Sec as an emergency. Mine hopefully Friday at 36+1 and third the following week at 37 weeks. No Ttts, no major prematurity

twinmum2017 · 11/12/2019 21:50

@SleepingStandingUp sorry your in hospital, what a rubbish end to the pregnancy. Not long till you meet those gorgeous babies h thy though!

As a mum of identicals who went through ttts at 22 weeks, suspected premature labour at 24 weeks, planned c sec at 34 weeks and 3 weeks in nicu - I'm happy to answer any questions any of you might have.
